A Tavola in High Peak

Great Food, even better people. We were here for a company evening out. Everything genuine sicilian. They have a wide selection of wines, brews and Cocktails. I will be dreaming about the food.

Having meant to try this restaurant for ages, we finally got round to doing so last night, and given that it’s practically on our doorstep could kick myself for not having done so earlier. Everything was excellent, from the welcome to the exit. You can’t get in without ringing the doorbell, and it was like being welcomed into an old friend’s home. The staff are uniformly friendly and polite but funny and not too deferential, the menu is bursting with choice - including the drinks - and the quality of the food was superb (and not just relatively for a provincial town). Packed with flavour, cooked to perfection and all in an atmosphere redolent of an old Sicilian family tradition, every element hit the mark dead on. It won’t be so long until we’re back again.

We are local and this is usually our favourite place to eat by far. I always have the swordfish as it's normally amazing, but I was disappointed this time, as it tasted very fishy and bitter like it was far from fresh. Same for our crab starters. Paying over £32 for just the swordfish and sides when the quality isn't great isn't ideal. My parter had pasta and this was lovely and so were the cocktails. The service was poor when it's usually excellent. It took nearly half an hour to order a drink per time. I think this is due to the fact that 3 or 4 people wait on the same table now so it causes confusion. I'm hoping this experience was just a one off!

We haven’t visited since the move from Reddish (we’ve missed you!). We enjoyed a superb lunch last Friday. Every bite was beautiful. An absolute must visit.

When an Italian/Sicilian restaurant is full of Italians you suspect it will be good. We were right! Food was amazing, the drinks were incredible, the atmosphere was friendly and the service was impeccable. My partner is Italian and said it was authentic and delicious and the expresso was the best he’d had in England!

Absolutely delicious and highly recommended. One of the best Italian restaurant outside of Italy and excellent coffee as well. We will come back to try the rest of the menu.

We were a family party of 15 attending our daughters celebration of her wedding. We went to see if A Tavola could handle a large group on the evening prior to the main celebration held elsewhere. With a bit of re-arrangement they were able to do this and our expectations were then surpassed with some fantastic dinner dishes. The service was impeccable, there is an excellent wine list and the food was superb.

A return visit, and wow'ed once again! Finally managed to take my parents who were suitably impressed! I'll say now pardon the spellings!!! Starters were foccacia, mangia i bevii, meatballs and panielli; all hot, fresh and zinging with flavour - arguments as to which starter was best! Mains - my Dad had a prawn pasta thingy, and my Mum the pasta with swordfish. Both raved about the flavours. My lamb chops were divine. And as for the a-malfi cocktail and lemon tartine...all just perfect!!! Wonderful service, fabulous food, and reasonably priced given the standard of food. Brilliant as ever, and cannot recommend highly enough!

One of the best Italian/Sicilian meals I have ever had outside of Italy. Special thanks to Nicky, who was very attentive, and very pleased when I told her my Mocktail Nogroni was the best Mocktail I have ever had. She gave me a high 5!
