Acres in Dacorum

What a find! A hidden gem. Beautiful setting, great decor, amazing service and inspiring food. If you live in Berkhamsted or near, you MUST come and experience this lovely place.

Didn’t get off to a good start when our main course was accidentally given to two Americans in error. They ate them despite it not being what they ordered and we had a long wait while it was cooked again. There were no potatoes or additional vegetables available as side orders.The room was cold. They insist on card payments, but you are unable to add a gratuity, which they then insist must be cash. The staff were very nice, but the restaurant has no atmosphere. Sadly we will not dine there again.

Fine-dining prices and portions, but they forgot that you need flavoursome food and good ambience too. Desserts (including custard) were barely warm and served on cold plates. Room was so cold we needed to wear coats. Staff were great but we couldn't tip as the management won't allow tipping on credit card, only by cash - and who carries cash nowadays? Clearly the management don't care about any of this and think they can just trade on the Ashridge name. In the process, they're tarnishing that name
