Had an amazing experience at Akbar's Restaurant! The Mix Grill was the star of the show — perfectly grilled, juicy, and bursting with authentic flavors. Every bite was a delight! Huge credit to the starter chef for nailing the seasoning and texture. The Chicken Tikka Garlic Balti was rich, aromatic, and packed with bold spices. If you love pure Asian food, this place is a must-visit!

We have been to some very good restaurants. But by far this is the best Indian food we have had. The Service was outstanding from Sammed as he went up and beyond to help us.

Excellent service and food. Our waiter was called Sammed and he was very helpful and attentive and took time to explain all the different dishes.

Good welcoming service off the staff

I was disappointed to see that my food was served directly on a frying pan instead of in the proper dish, which negatively affected the presentation. Additionally, the meal was missing both the salad and sauce, which are typically included with this dish. These missing details, along with the poor presentation, not only impacted my overall dining experience but also left me feeling dissatisfied personally.

Thank you so much Raj, you provided exceptional service, you went above and beyond. You made my sons birthday extra special. The food was also delicious.

Booked a table for 6 around 10:30 PM and had an amazing dining experience! Everything was spot on from the ambiance to the service and food. The Charsi and lamb chops were beyond imagination perfectly cooked, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Great atmosphere and attentive staff made the experience even better. Will definitely return!

travelled all the way from Manchester to try this very hyped place and their cuisine. But it was below average experience. Order placement was very late (waited 45 minutes). Food was nearly cold. Portions were very small as compared to price. We also ordered charsi karahi but I suppose cook knows nothing about it. Overall pathetic. Highly not recommended.

Ordered a takeaway, what absolute tasteless crap. Not sure if it was an off day but where was ANY flavour. We ordered multiple different dishes so it wasn't just one particular dish. In the bin it goes.

Possibly my favourite food in Middlesbrough. My partner and I went Today for dinner and as usual the food was outstanding. The experience was made all the better by the excellent service received from our waiter, Raj. I’m sure we’ll be back soon.

This is possibly the worst Indian food I've ever had... The starter was ridiculously spicy and the main course was the blandest least appetising meal ever... Definitely will not teturn

We had a wedding function at akbars today, and they could not have been more helpful. Raj and the staff were excellent. The food was lovely and the service was very good.

Been here twice, foods been great always stuffed leaving, service is a bit hit and miss. Drink service seems to take a long time, after the meal we were gonna have another beer but no one came near us after the table was cleared. Still a cracking curry house.

We had the Vegetable Madani and the Tarka Dhal with rice and Naan and Kashmiri tea. Excellent food, very generous portions, service great. Very reasonably priced. Loved it.

Apparently I visited here last week according to Google. That is simply not true. However I did visit here over 10 years ago so based on my memory of the establishment at the time I will give it 5 stars. I visited with some friends from uni and had a lovely meal. Really good service and the naan bread was massive. Rumour has it Jeremy Clarkson and Juninho Paulista ate here and rated it highly.

Terrible. What's happened to this place. Last two experiences have been woeful. Dirty cutlery and plates. Spices still raw on the food. Meat chops two cooked well and two undercooked. Food way too spicy despite asking for it not to be. Restaurant run down.

1st time at this restaurant, service was good and not too pushy plenty of time to decide what to order, food was delicious, only issue was as I was driving I ordered a Pepsi and it arrived in the bottle but was warm could have been offered a glass with ice but not a deal breaker.

I have dinner at Akbar's restaurant at the Middlesbrough with intentions to enjoy desi karahi, although they are using rather misusing famous Peshawar 'Charsi's name as branding 'Charsi karahi', but we were disappointed by the quality of food, they tried to cover the taste of food by putting too much spices, although we asked them to keep the spice medium, it was too much to bear, the manager was consistently claiming the spices are mild, I wonder what will be their hot/high spicy taste and who can eat that. Severely disappointed, will never go to any of Akbar's in future and won't recommend anyone, unless you can pay very high price for red and green chilies.

I really like it in here. The food used to fluctuate in quality but it’s consistently good now. The staff are excellent and always remember us. Unfortunately, the prices have gone up significantly which means we didn’t go as often as we used to.

We have been here before and it was great! The service was ok they forgot a beer and we asked for the bill 3 times before it finally come. The food was OK potato was not cooked enough and chicken was overcooked. At the end of the meal we paid the bill and a waiter came back to the table and asked for a tip, which one of our party felt awkward and paid. Absolutely disgusting asking for a tip and he just put it in his pocket didn't say thank you or anything!

They don't know how to put less spice in the food even after meticulously explaining to the staff. Next day was painful.

Been coming here for many years on a regular basis never go to any other Indian restaurant, I have found it has been going downhill for the last year however I have still returned a number of times, this time even the service was poor they forgot to bring our popadoms which resulted in getting them the same time as the food the dips tasted like they were off and not fresh at all we had poor service the last time we visited by the same man however mo is amazing. We get the same curries but we are finding the spice is getting unbearable. The toilets aren’t clean and haven’t changed or been updated since they opened years ago. It’s sad to see such a good place deteriorating with food quality and poor service and cleanliness this should be improved with the amount they increased the prices on the menu.

We were 20 people, for Tuesday night they were really busy, accommodated us straight away, Food was delicious starters 10/10, their lamb chops best in town, drinks reasonably priced I recommend this place.

Tried masala fish starter and king prawn tikka , and vegetarian main course it was the most delicious curry I had in Middlesbrough. Excellent service by the staff . Will visit again Highly recommended .

Food was absolutely fantastic, we were a group of 20 without booking got our table straight away, service was excellent by our waiter Aman, was very busy when we got sat in the table, no delay in food been told 20 minutes by our waiter got on time, I recommend Akbars.

A party of 13 people we were looking forward to eat at Akbars Middlesbrough and enjoy family's evening out. Unfortunately the food was disgustingly spiced up with chilli powder and green chilies all we could taste was chillies, We ordered 8 different main course which all taste same chilli powder and were unedited, The starters was 4/10 which were not too bad. I'm sorry to say but you need to sort your chefs out That was most disgusting meal I ever tasted.

Absolute rubbish for expensive prices

Waiter was a bit thick didn't give us enough time to order and then we ordered food stuff came separate. Fish masala was nice and so was the chips. Mango lassi was cheap yaadgaar brand didnt even put ice cubes in it. The keema I told the guy yes I want potato in it came with none and was so spicy as an Apna he should know how we eat it brought the fish masala with no naan to its the little details about helping the customer and suggesting good dishes. Chicken balti or korma we ordered 2 didn't look like my mates enjoyed it and also I threw up straight after and so did my friend outside. Not sure what was going on because the food seemed cooked but this is very unusual and we don't drink we only got mango lassi, water and Pepsi. Overall it was not worth the price nearly £100 and the website says £10-20 each person okay even £60 would be okay next time will only order starters and maybe next time get someone better who can speak to customers properly and put stuff in the right place. Honestly, disappointed I'd only recommend the Bradford one, Middlesbrough is a no go.

The food we ordered was good but coming to the service, they treated like, offering food freely.. Almost every one served same way. Need to improve in costumers receiving. No matter how much the delicious dishes are.

Amazing food, attentive staff very busy but didn't affect the service. Would definitely recommend it. Fabulous menu, something for everyone, and they catered for my life-threatening fish allergy, so definitely worth a visit. Reasonably priced, we had starter, main, and sides with a bottle of wine for 2 adults, which is fantastic with the quality food.

myself and 3 friends were, not impressed by the below average service and quality of food here, we had booked a table at 7pm and there was hardly a person inside we were stuffed into a very cramped window table. After eating we were all in agreement we should of used a local takeaway for better quality food and service. Price? too much considering the food was below what you'd expect.

Food portion compare to prices is not great.Chicken charsi very good in taste but with micro pieces of chicken. Should be renamed as charsi no chicken dish. Same with Charsi lamb. Past experience has been same with other dishes.

Standard Akbar's - you get the same menu across the restaurants. The service was a little slow this time. Also made the mistake of asking for my starters and mains together, thinking it would be quicker. 🤔 The mistake being I got my mains first and the starter later, not what I had planned for sure. The prices are going up every time I visit, takeout prices are the same as sitting in and eating in the restaurant. 🤔 The restaurant was generally clean and tidy. Often busy

We order chefs challenge 1 for £16 which include dessert ice cream me n friend share the food as it’s a big portion after we had the food we ask for dessert after they refused because we two share food . Really bad service.

Booked a table near the window and was given the seat as soon as we entered. The mocktail and starters were amazing . Service was quick and waiters were very helpful and friendly. Will come again .

On the whole was lovely, didn't appreciate being bullied into a service charge especially when they were going to give me my starter after main course was given. Hence did not appreciate the attitude from staff when we didn't give service charge. It should be a customer choice not asked to give
