El personal es amable y la comida es increíble! Es una empresa familiar independiente y definitivamente merece más apoyo. ¡Si estás en York esto debería ser lo primero de tu lista para visitar! La obra de arte expuesta está a la venta y ha sido realizada por los propietarios. Todo el diseño de la cafetería, así como algunos muebles también está hecho por los propietarios. Es la definición de empresa familiar. Definitivamente volveré.

If a better cafe exists in York I have yet to find it! Proper Italian Cappuccino…so rare in the UK with beautiful cakes and fantastic service.

The Bacon and Brie and cheese and ham sandwiches were beautiful, and the cappuccinos and latte were lovely. Great value for money.

A wonderful morning spent at ALMA Cafe & Gifts in early March 2024. We arranged a beeswax candle-rolling workshop in the cafe event space to celebrate a friend's upcoming wedding. The space was the perfect setting and size for our group and was both comfortable and cosy. We all enjoyed some delicious hot drinks whilst learning to roll candles, and purchased some tasty sweet and savoury treats on our way out. Lisa was so kind and helpful, both throughout our visit and during the initial booking process. We look forward to visiting again on future trips to York. Thank you!

Really friendly service and cosy atmosphere. Our coffees were excellent and I must say the latte I had quite simply was the best latte I’ve had the milk was a good hot temperature and it was all so velvety too!

Lovely staff, atmosphere and drinks/food. I liked the mini community library. Wish we were local so we could go there regularly!

This is the fourth or fifth time we have been to the Alma Cafe. It has now become our go to place for coffee & food when we travel up to York. The coffe is very good and so is the food on offer. You can’t always get a seat at road level but there is a very nice Lounge area down stairs.

Really lovely place, it had a great atmosphere and nice owner. I came here with my family after visiting the Viking Museum and it was very welcoming. We had coffees, hot chocolates and a lovely M&K sausage roll. The coffee was amazing, such a great flavour, and I highly recommend the sausage rolls, from my local butchers on Bishopthorpe Road. I'll definitely come here again.

Brunch stop for coffee and delicious cheese scones….so good, we went back the next day. Very friendly staff. Clean and quirky independent cafe.

The perfect place for amazing coffee and snacks, both sweet and savoury. My favourite spot in York for coffee and a treat away from the madness of the summer crowds. Always a warm, friendly welcome from Lisa.

It's a lovely corner in Coppergate with whole side of windows for you to look at. I went there a few times for some quite moment. Not to mention the delicious coffee and pastries! It's the place I'll keep coming for focus and leisure sessions. You need to enjoy the floral decoration with many picutures and art about York!

Just stopped by for a quick takeaway espresso. Was very good, up there with the better ones I've had in York. The service was very friendly, and the cafe itself is nicely decorated. I may try some of the food offerings next time.

After having a bad experience at the castle museum café we decided to find somewhere else to eat and boy what a hidden gem this place is. From the moment of entering to the moment of leaving the lovely lady behind the counter was amazing and very attentive to our needs, nothing was too much trouble The food was gorgeous, very fresh and Moorish. I know that when we come back to York we will be making our way to this café for lunch again. Thank you so much for your kindness and service for my family. There are many cafes in York BUT please give this one a try.

A fantastic independent café, well worth a visit. The décor is interesting and well thought out, the owner was really friendly and welcoming and the cakes , particularly the ginger cake, and coffee were delicious. We found it by accident, and made a return visit the next day . If I were a local I’d be a regular. Top tip, if you want a scone, go early as they sell out quickly!

Amazing cafe and friendly staff who know the products. Plenty of seating both on street level and downstairs. The cakes are amazing and would highly recommend them

I cant express how much we loved this place! We stumbled across it by chance, we nearly ended up in the Cafe Nero a little further down the road but I luckily said lets find something local rather than a chain and literally after a 1 second walk there was Alma cafe! We went there for our morning coffee and pastries for our whole stay in York and were very sad to say bye when we left yesterday. I am so glad we could spend our money on quality food and coffee with a small family business. You will not be disappointed by the food and drinks here.

Lovely, bright cafe in central York. Lisa is very friendly. Food was good. Lots of London and York based art for sale, although we didn’t buy any. Nice little lounge area downstairs.

We went in on the day it opened and the coffee was really nice, as were the cakes. Service was excellent and friendly and it is really well placed if you just want to take the weight off and watch all the activity on Coppergate.

Lovely family run cafe. Visited the day after the cafe opened and enjoyed a fab coffee to go and had a chat with the owner. Very friendly! Will be back for more coffees and some of the delicious looking baked goods soon I'm sure ☺
