An awful experienced spoiled by not only by the poor quality of food, the extremely slow service but also by the loud group on the table next to us. We were sat away from the main restaurant, the other table had 7 dogs mainly sitting at the table on the table or on laps. The dogs were able to roam freely in and out and under our table but the main issue was that one dog “POOPED” on the floor at the top of our table which the group found hilarious. Although they didn’t inform the restaurant I did however no one seemed bothered nor did they sanitise or clean the area! I have no issue with our furry friends however I do have an issue with 7 sitting at a table in a restaurant and then fouling!! We cut short our visit and left straight away. The food was poor and extremely salty with our side orders arriving a long time after our meal and therefore we did not eat them. With all the social media hype around the Alma we were left bitterly disappointed and disgusted with the lack of awareness and duty of care to all visitors.

We just had our Christmas Party at The Alma - 32 of us in their lovely room upstairs - and it was amazing. From the excellent organisation by the lovely Molly to the fabulous, friendly and efficient service from Jack and his team, it was a top experience. The food was excellent too. 5 Stars all round. Thank you The Alma - we had a great time.

I'm a returning customer and I was disappointed that a trend towards smaller and less well equipped rooms since my first stay here continued. This time I was on the second floor in a compact room without a bath. Additionally, there was a problem with the hearing in the room and it needed to be centrally reset. This was done promptly, but it took a further 30 minutes before the merest hint of warmer air could be detected. To cap it off the fire alarm twice went off in the later afternoon/early evening. Both times I left my room and started down the stairs, I never ignore alarms, but before I reached the ground floor the alarm stopped. On neither occasion did reception staff contact guests to apologise, or explain. This maybe because the phone system doesn't work either. I emailed the Alma during my stay and I was offered another room by the receptionist, why this room wasn't allocated to me when I made the booking was not explained. I declined the offer as I was very tired after arriving from south America and I'd unpacked a few things, connected my laptop etc.

With me and my partner Staying at the holiday inn express we luckily stumbled on this pub, with my partner frantically googling sports pubs which showed Man U v Forrest- On opening the doors I was so relieved it wasn’t a traditional sports pub full of men, there was a lovely atmosphere of couples and groups of girls as well as lads- there was a really good Christmas spirit there!! We visited several other pubs in wandsworth but I wish we had of stayed here for longer. Drinks are pricey but that’s London for you, wish our local had this same atmosphere! We had Sunday roasts and overall it was just very average. Our table was on the quieter upstairs dining room, despite this the service could be more attentive, my glass of wine did not arrive until the meal arrived, despite my partners cocktail having arrived soon after ordering food. (I had to ask twice for the wine). The Yorkshire pudding was large but over baked, just dry and crunchy. The brocoli was very undercooked. The roast beef and pork were again average fare.

Came here for a break whilst starting away with work. Starter was something I'd never seen before, Tempura sea herb. Plate full of tasty goodness, if you're from the North, it's like batter scraps but with sea herbs inside. Main was fish and chips with everything you would expect. Only mild downside is the fish was double battered so very greasy and puffed up with just a normal to small fish inside. Was like taking someone home and finding out she has chicken fillets down her top after the big reveal. Service was great, place was great

I satisfied my craving for a Sunday roast without having to make it myself. The rump was lovely, melted in the mouth, the tender stem and cabbage cooked well. The cauliflower cheese was delicious, the stand out dish for me. If I have to be critical the roast potatoes tasted like they were cooked and reheated as the outsides were hard ,not crispy, and the insides very dry. The carrots were wet and soggy (untrimmed) and the Yorkshire also tasted like it was cooked well in advance, it was hard and difficult to eat. I think the Sunday roast has become of a victim of its own success at the Alma as the pub is extremely busy so they probably have to cook huge amounts well in advance. We saw staff taking great big plastic containers of ready roasted potatoes and Yorkshire puddings to the kitchen so it was obvious that food is reheated. I really think my home cooked roast is better! We did however have a lovely bottle of Malbec and the serving staff were lovely and friendly.

Went with very high expectations following some rave reviews on social media. Service and the venue itself were both lovely. The food ranged from excellent to terrible. Both starters (scallops and buratta) were amazing, absolutely full of flavour. The type of dishes that made you regret agreeing to share with your party. The main (a 4 person sharing roast “Thors Hammer” was really great. Every part of it was delicious aside from the carrots which were just cold and soggy. We got an extra cauliflower cheese was undercooked and not very saucy. But overall the main was really really delicious. The three deserts on the other hand were really really disappointing. The sticky toffee pudding was honestly so salty that it was inedible. I was convinced there had to have been a mistake made with the sauce but the waitress assured me that it just comes like that. The pavlova was covered in a coulis which was just not necessary and made the dish just sickly sweet. Also the rhubarb hand pie was just very light on flavour and overall just really greasy which was wasn’t pleasant after such a heavy meal. The desserts aren’t enough to make me not go back, overall it was great. £300 bill for 4 people including a bottle of wine and round of drinks.

Sad and bad experience here on a sunday for the roast. Very sloppy cooking. Unedible caluflower cheese, poor qaulity sausages, tasteless cabbage, avarge Y-pudding, tough meat in the Hammer, off tasting carrots, overcooked brocolli stems, only good thing was the duck fat roasted potatoes and the above par gravy. This place is all social media hype. After just having paid 300 pounds I was asked by the waitress to give them online review so she "would get paid extra, I get paid more when customers give a review." Then I was handeld a card with a qr-code. Sorry? I just spend a lot of money for substandard food and service and now you want me to do your marketing for you and on top af that make sure your staff are paid a decent wage by doing so? A sad, disgrace of "hospitality". Shame on you people. Go elsewhere.

It’s unfortunate to say that our experience from start to finish was far below expectations. When I inquired about the gluten-free options for the scallop and cauliflower cheese, our waitress said she’d check, but didn’t follow up until the scallop was served. Unfortunately, the portion was incredibly small and disappointing for the price. Additionally, we were never informed what scallop was gluten-free and what one was not. Instead, the dishes were simply slammed down on our table without any clarification. This lack of communication only added to the frustration and left us feeling ignored. Even more surprising, my plate was whisked away while my friend was still eating his starter. For our mains, we ordered the beef roast, requesting one medium and one rare. It turned out to be the worst roast we’ve had in London. The vegetables were cold, and the beef was so gristly with a strange flavour that we couldn’t finish it. To top it off, we were asked how our meal was just minutes after it was served, before even having a chance to taste it. After finishing, no one inquired about the meal, offered more drinks, or provided a dessert menu. Feeling rushed, we decided to ask for the bill. The bill was brought swiftly, along with the card machine, making us feel almost pushed out, despite having time left on our booking. Later, we went to the bar for drinks. When I ordered a glass of rosé, the first glass arrived with lipstick still on it. I had to ask for a replacement. Additional details, like not receiving fresh cutlery after starters were taken away and having to ask for condiments when the mains arrived, only added to our disappointment. Overall, this was an experience I wouldn’t even rate one star. It felt rushed, careless, and unprofessional.

We recently visited The Alma in Wandsworth for a Sunday roast, and while the food lived up to expectations, the service left a lot to be desired. First, the positives. The roast was excellent – generously portioned, full of flavor, and reasonably priced for what you get. It’s clear why this pub is such a popular spot, especially on a Sunday. We had booked in advance, which I highly recommend, as the place was bustling. The food itself was definitely the highlight of the experience, and I can’t fault it. However, the service was a major letdown. With the pub so busy, it felt like they knew customers would keep coming regardless, so attention to service seemed secondary. After ordering dessert, it took around 25 minutes for three of us to be served, but my partner’s dessert never arrived. When we asked the waiter, we were told hers wasn’t available. The lack of communication here was frustrating – why weren’t we informed when we ordered? To make things worse, there was no real apology, and by that point, my partner didn’t want to wait another 20 minutes for a replacement, especially while the rest of us had already started eating. What left a sour note was being told we had only 20 minutes left at our table, rushing us out just after the dessert debacle. It felt like they were more focused on table turnover than customer satisfaction. All in all, The Alma offers great food, but the service needs improvement. With a bit more attention to customers, it could be an all-around fantastic experience.

I ordered the kids chicken sunday roast and it ended up being huge and similar size to the dish of the other member of my party who ordered the normal size roast. service was bad. had to call them over to take our order which took 10-15mins because they were standing by the till chatting or rushing off somewhere else and not paying attention. had to ask for a kids menu for the 3 yo we were with again after saying we would need one when we sat down. i’d usually be very understanding if it were busy but there were plenty of empty tables around. the young server that gave us our drinks was very good however and was very friendly. was quite expensive for a kids meal and 2 passionfruit martinis. not sure if ill come back.

Our waitress was brilliant!!! the only reason why I don’t give 5 stars is because the restaurant did not accommodate the pram adequately despite of us informing them in advance, hence we ended up eating with our baby sleeping in my partner’s lap. On another note, the Yorkshire pudding was not good. Everything else was amazing!!!

Food was great but the experience was let down by poor service. After our mains were served the staff were not interested in engaging with us. Despite there being a group of 5 staff stood around chatting with each other and one spending most of the lunch service playing with his phone. Nobody asked us how the food was or bothered to clear our plates. I moved our plates to another table and they were eventually cleared. Nobody asked if we wanted a desert or any other drinks which was odd as the dining room was almost empty apart from one other table, whi also hadn't had their plates cleared. Chefs clearly know whet they're doing and have been let down but the disinterested front of house.

Friendly. Not busy at 3.30pm on a Thursday . . .! Only Fuller's London Pride on cask, but well kept.

I'd love to see it when it's packed as I imagine the energy is brilliant! Thanks for letting us try bits of the beers, love that touch.
