Altafs Balti in Worcester

Unfortunately, like several others who have commented here, I've been caught out by the new parking system. Visited here for my birthday curry, received a £100. Called in to explain how I hadn't seen the notice and was told management would contact me. It didnt happen. To be fair, the food was mediocre compared to how it used to be. Deffinately not returning.

Outstanding. Really exceptional food, in every dish, every time-consistent high standards here with food cooked exactly and correctly to your own personal taste (same as would be expected if high-end £££ dining). Truly breathtaking aromatic handi, world-class “super-garlic” nan, balanced fresh mango lassi. For us it’s worth the long drive.

We ate here for the first time last night, but it definitely won't be our last time. The food was fantastic, as was the service! All staff were friendly and attentive, and it was very reasonably priced. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back again soon!

“Best Lamb Curry in Town! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐” Bhai wah! Mazza aagaya! This place serves lamb curry that tastes like it came straight out of my dadi’s rasoi. The meat was so tender it melted in my mouth, and the masala—uff! Perfect blend of spices, not too spicy, but full of flavor. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, and the aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water. Pair it with their garlic naan, and bas, you’re in food heaven. Service was quick, and the staff made me feel right at home. Highly recommend if you’re craving authentic desi khana!

Been coming here for years. Made one complaint and they weren’t happy to resolve the issue. You have lost a loyal customer

Complained once over missing food and they wasn’t having any of it ! Didn’t received a receipt either. The man on the phone told a loyal customer who spends well over 70 pounds each time I was wrong ! To then be told that we’d have to wait an additional 30 mins for the missing food. Absolutely disgusting definitely will not be coming back! Would rather take my money else where. He repeated the order back to me over the phone and still told me I was wrong.

We were going to have a take away but we were passing Altaf’s and thought we would eat in. The staff are friendly and polite very helpful. The food was delicious and plenty full. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who asks about the best Indian restaurant in Worcester. Thank you guys.

Try their amazing chicken tikka biryani

Arrived with no booking we were seated straight away. The lady serving was happy polite and friendly. Our drinks arrived promptly ( no alcohol but was told we can bring our own not a issue for us at all ). The food didn't take long it tasted and looked amazing. Good portions the food was full of flavour. Reasonable prices, onsite parking, wheel chair friendly, child friendly with well priced children's menu. Over all a excellent experience I will be returning soon.

Ordered a chicken Donner wrap, received a tikka wrap, which I didn’t mind, still tasted decent. But when I rang the restaurant to tell them, the person was disgustingly rude and hung up on me after a mouthful of abuse

THIS IS NOW A BYO RESTAURANT. BUT THEY CHARGE CORKAGE. We normally use this as a takeout and always had good food and service. This time we decided to eat in! What a huge mistake. We were the only ones there, and honestly couldn't wait to leave. It has nil atmosphere - but food and staff are ok. We were so looking forward to a beer and curry, but hey, we won't return.

I would give this a 0 if I could, the food arrived so late, it was literally cold, not even like warm, so plain, the mutter paneer had like 4-5 tiny cubes of paneer and portions are tiny considering the price. To top it off I found a hair in my food, and I know it’s not mine because I’m ginger

Ordered from just eat with an expected time of delivery of 20:30. The food never came after phoning and enquiring about the order. Phoned again at 21:20 to be told our order had gone somewhere else and they were making a new one, someone called Adham hung up on me after I asked how much longer this would take. Called back to find out the status where he tried to tell me I’d cancelled the order which was not the case 22:05 food finally arrives with missing curry for the Bryani we had ordered. Reported all of this to just eat, the restaurant admitted fault and said they would sort some sort of money back however received this this morning The restaurant isn't going to give you any money back for your delayed order. They say: "We're really sorry your order wasn't delivered on time. Our restaurant was busier than we expected." We know this wasn’t the case as they have said it went to the wrong house and then missing items. They suggested we called them back this evening to speak to the manager, what a waste of time. Service was appalling and won’t be recommending here to anyone. Avoid if you don’t want to be disappointed

The food was lovely, the service didn't match. We ordered a takeaway to collect c£130. We had to remind them of the offers that were publicised on the menu, and the free bottle of wine was no longer available. 4 portions of rice were missed off our order, so we had to go back to the restaurant where they were waiting for us. The phone was engaged. We will try again, but it needs to be better organised this time.

Recommend 100%,. Ordered delivery, came on time. Food was very nice and wasn’t cold. We ordered pudding also and milkshake which was really nice.

when travelling over Tolly, you cant miss the blue lights of Altafs! it looks like an ordinary indian takeaway, but we ordered it for takeout and found that all it was is spice we ordered mild food and it blew our heads off. im willing to try it again in future to give it another chance but yeah next time hold the spice i want to actually taste the food.

I ordered a delivery and spent over £60. On the website and my leaflet it stated you got a complimentary bottle of wine if the order was over £60 however we did not receive this. I called and was told they don't give this offer anymore (yet it is still advertised on the site). False advertising. Food was good although 2 of the meals had a sort of watery residue when plated but this did not affect taste.

We have just moved to the area , and ordered on Uber eats from here!! Then after I ordered I read reviews on here and there were so many bad reviews, I got really panicked…. I even rang the curry house to cancel but they had already started cooking it.. Well…. The Balti was delicious, hot and delivered on time Thank you so much for a yummy meal ! I will definitely order from you again I have had many currys and this is up there with the best Thank you 🙏🏻

I suggest if you want a spicy curry, to avoid this place. Madras the other week, I’ve tasted more spice in a tomato soup. Garlic chilli chicken, after SPECIFICALLY requesting in the notes for it to be hot as it’s meant to be again, again not a HINT of spice. Adding whole raw green chillies on the top is not going to make something better. Such a shame as used to be my go to place. You need new chefs

Absolutely outstanding. Best indian food we have eaten, the service.was exceptional. We had 2 small issues that were delbt with straight away. We couldn't fault the staff they were all lovely especially one waiter in particular. Will definately be back .

I picked up a balti (called ahead) on Wednesday night. I ordered 1 mixed balti, 1 madrass (lamb), saag paneer, and two naans (plain and paratha). As well as 4 popadoms and a portion of chips. The balti was appalling. It had no flavour, it was bright red (I’ve never seen a balti like that before), it had no taste, it was like an English dish like a meat in red wine. It just tasted of tomatoes and puree, the meat was tough and seemed old. It’s quite honestly the very worst balti I have ever had! The madras was not in slightest bit hot, the chips were completely overdone (again tasted old). The naans were stale (again I’ve never had that before). The saag paneer was the best thing and even that was 6/10 tops. I heard good things about altafs but I can’t say I experienced it. I picked my takeaway up at 6.30pm so the restaurant had two tables of two in. So they can’t claim they were busy. Even the popadoms tasted old! The madras had many bone fragments in it too which is just sloppy. Whoever the chef was tonight, cannot be the normal chef as it was simply appalling. It cost about £35 and was the worst curry I have had in 10 years.

7pm table booked for me and three friends. Restaurant empty other than for 2 males eating on another table. By 7:10 pm the waitress had not asked if we wanted drinks or popadoms. In the meantime two groups of 4 people arrive and occupy two tables. We then ask the waitress for popadoms at 7:15pm. The other two tables are then served popadoms. One of the tables are then served another round of popadoms. At 8pm we are still yet to be served or even approached by staff, yet starters have been brought out for the other tables. We decide that this is totally unacceptable, inform the staff of this and leave in disgust. Back in the day this used to be a good curry house with good service. How times have changed. The service was rude and shocking and we felt as though we were clearly being ignored. The behaviour of staff was poor and completely unacceptable. We will never return. Avoid.

Very shocking food. Prawn cocktail didn’t contain any Marie Rose sauce, was just juice from the salad. Meat samosas looked like they were re-heated from the day before and I could’ve used them for a golf ball.The vindaloo was missing spice, I’ve eaten a korma more spicier. Poppadoms were all soft and soggy. Asked for a refund in exchange for the food but they refused that. I would rather soil in my hands and clap, than order from these again.

I've been eating here for half a decade. Normally the portions are generous enough that you can actually feed 2 with 1 rice and 1 main. This has changed in the last few weeks with them drastically cutting down on howmuch meat is in the sauce and rice pots 3/4. This is after putting prices up so rice is now over £4. Theyve always include onions and chutney with the poppadoms but not anymore. If you fancy a curry order from masala lounge or little India both of which are fantastic and generous.

Takeaway order for 1 - lamb curry with small amount of meat, cold tasteless pilau rice, stale & weird popadoms only nice thing was the peshwari naan bread. Very small portion of food considering the £20 price tag will never order from here again. I know prices have gone up everywhere but this is pure greed 🤬

I came to Altafs in September 2023, this was my third visit to the Restaurant. Firstly, we were really surprised to see how quiet it was considering it was a Friday night. Because of this there wasn't much atmosphere. I ended up ordering a Chicken Jalfrezi, Pilau Rice with Peshwari Naan and a couple of Onion Bhajis. The food was okay, nothing special. The Jalfrezi wasn't quite as spicy as I expected. The Peshwari Naan was missing that sweet Coconut flavour to it, so it was basically a Plain Naan. Also, the Onion Bhajis were predominantly batter without much filling to it. The service was very good. Our food and drinks were brought out to the table pretty swiftly. All in all, a fair rating would be 3/5. I would say the food was definitely better on my first two visits.

Curry and catch up with an ex-colleague. Seated and order taken promptly. Food excellent - chicken bhuna with rice and naan. Piping hot and qood quality and quantity. Happily visit again when next in Worcester

Unfortunately, I received two prawns in my curry. The chicken was very rough and the curry stank terribly when I opened the carton. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Delicious freshly cooked balti. Absolutely scrummy. Our second visit did not disappoint. Shall be back!!

Takeaways, never eaten in. Been using them for years never had a bad meal. Delivery is always reasonable time as well. Tried a new meal the other night on the chefs specials and by god was it LUSH… just YUM !! Thank you

The service was truly shambolic, to start with the it took the food took 45 minutes to come then after it came, there was three of us and only two mains came out and also we was missing tarkadhal then we had to wait another 30 minutes to wait for those items to come out. The food wasn’t even that nice either. The lamb balti madras hot was not read or juicy lock was expected rather what ended out coming was a brown mild curry and a balti which was ordered with less ghee came out with no sauce. Make it make sense! We are loyal customers who have had family gatherings and nice experiences have sadly made the decision to never come again as it was truly that bad. The narn which is the best part of the meal that says it all. One star experience.

The service and food in this Restaurant has taken a turn for the worst since it opened. The Mains just took 45mins to arrive at the table, and although there was only three of us, they forgot one of the three mains and the Tarka Dahl. Obviously the missing food was rushed out thus poorly cooked. The Lamb Balti Madras was mild and swimming in oil not lovely tasty spicy sauce. Conversley the Chicken Balti was dry and the Tarka Dahl was an undercooked a pile of salty pulses. The room was absolutely freezing and we had to ask for the AC to be turned down. The music that was inappropriately belting out was obvouslt to suit the young staff. We could hardly hear ourselves talk. The staff weren't rude, but not friendly or engaging either, unlike in the past when the staff who were so welcoming and attentive. Awful! unless and until this changes we will not be going back to dine in the Restaurant or order take away food here again....so disappointing.

Was looking for takeaway dinner after 9pm on a weekday and this was one of the few places open and not too far a drive. Ordered take away online which was relatively straightforward. Food was nice, service ok. Disappointed that no cutlery available (not even for extra fee). How do you eat a curry and rice without a spoon or a fork??? Told there was a Spar across the road, which might sell cutlery if open… Had paid online, otherwise would have left at this point.

Okay and on our list to try but doubt we will return. Asked for chicken received lamb and chicken tikka very dry.

Visited on a sat eve with friends. Very helpful and accommodating for our disabled friend, service was attentive and friendly. Huge naan!!! Overall very good and being a Brummy I'm always fussy about curry!!

Just enjoyed a lovely takeaway whilst we are passing through the area . Lots of choice in Worcester but glad we chose altafs. Good quality food well presented and a very reasonable price . We chose to collect and got 15% off. Very happy.

Ordered a Biriyani and a Special Biriyani with other items too… put a comment to make sure that it would be “mild”… OMD it was so HOT we didn’t eat it. We will not be eating here again. Ruined my father in laws birthday! Think the chefs need retraining !!!!!

Ordered a delivery from these clowns only to be told an HOUR after accepting the order that they would fulfil the order. Whatb a total heap of crap. Don't deserve to be in business.

Great meal and top service once again. Had a takeaway issue on 29/12/22 that was noones fault, spoke to the manager Nadeem and it was fixed quickly, would recommend him if you need to speak with someone.

Had korma and massala Food wasn't enjoyed by either me or my partner.

Shocking service by young people that just don't seem interested....well I don't think the young girl actually left hee chair...just sat there playing with her hair! I dined with an empty restaurant and there were two people to serve yet they we simply talking to each other and then mucking about with the cash register or something. The pompadoms came before the drinks so I got up and left....at that point I was told that they needed to change a beer barrel..too late. This restaurant has consistently been empty ( or close to it ) when I have been before with ongoing slow service, totally flat drinks and average indian food. Off we went to the Bombay Palace in town which was a different experience.

I didn't eat but the smells coming from the kitchen made me wish I had time to do so.

I have been in the restaurant a handful of time, and had a take away last week, the food has always been amazing. The service is also very good & the family Naan was perfect for the 7 of us! The takeaway was delicious and was just as if was dining in. Would highly recommend.

Ordered a takeaway on Bank Holiday Monday. Really quick delivery- which was good, but food was average at best. Lamb garlic massalla was very very strong tasting, which was fine but the lamb was so hard it was inedible, no spice whatsoever despite asking for it hot. The sauce tasted the same as the butter chicken sauce my husband ordered. We received 3 portions of chicken pakora to start and they looked and tasted like McDonald’s chicken tenders- only not as nice! Shame this restaurant used to be our go too, but I’m not wasting any more money on rubbish food.

Was travelling so after a lot of search We decided to go here, atmosphere was nice & restaurant clean , few lovely waiters .. food arrived after 50 min the starters popadoms & mix gril Wer lovely but my mains Big let downs the achari ghosht had no achar in it just pure strong garlic I asked for some other sauce just to down it but all I got was the spicy sauce from our popadoms tray & jalfrezi kinda tasted same like they used the same sauce but more spicy, I’m Asian so I kno my currys & this wasn’t nice. Did tell the boy who took my order about it & all I got was a OH & then £57 lol, with no main down n we only ate 1 chapati out of 6 chapati & 1naan given for us as a family of 3 I think that sums it all up I honestly won’t be going back nor recommend. 2 stars for the cleanliness & atmosphere that’s it

I was in the area for 5 days and was looking for an authentic Pakistani curry and this place Has great flavours. Had a chat with the owner before ordering and he recommended the chicken handi, he was spot on the portion was huge I only managed to finish less than half, if this was in Manchester I would easy be paying double. The nan was nice fresh and fluffy plenty of chutneys and sauces offered. Highly recommend to anyone great staff service.

Have been using this restaurant for a while now, takeaways only, delivery service. Ordered Friday 21/01/22, may as well have ordered it on Monday 17th, cold like it just came out the fridge. To top that, my chicken Vindaloo had very little sauce and only half a tub. Chips ? Rock hard and snapped, real teeth breakers. Naan ? She's been dead for years, just like the one I ordered. Sorry Altafs, I have an account but will never use again. Disgusting. PS Why are your delivery's charging ? Take away food should be cheaper as it is VAT exempt, you're already making 20%. Never again, so inconsistent.

Where do I start? The Lamb Tikka Bhuna was as good as it gets! Unbelievable flavours and tender chunks of lamb. Amazing! The Garlic Naan was as usual the best you will eat! Don't hesitate to order from Altaf's! It's stellar!

This review is for a takeaway. Just delivered an order of lamb vindaloo, chicken balti, 2 pilau rice and 2 papadams. The papadams came with no sauces to dip into. A first for us. Understand the commercials but this place is not for us.

If you order food for delivery 8 times out of 20 it will be cold. If you tell them this, you will be sworn at. You will be told to come to the restaurant to “see what happens” food lovely, Shame the rest is horrendous”

Ordered a curry. Chips where cold. Keema naan had bearly any meat in it . Vile.

First time using this place last night and it will be the last. Hands down one of the most disappointing curries I’ve ever had and certainly the worst in Worcester. Very bland Jalfrezi, Tarka dhall was like salty lentils, no fragrance to the pilau rice. Garlic naan was the best bit but still only a 5/10.

Well what can I say... Not been for a while due to covid and other restrictions but this restaurant still offers the best indian cuisine in Worcester imo. Spotlessly clean staff are super attentive and the food is just incredible. We arrived and were seated bang on time and given plenty of time to chat and look at menu before deciding our orders. The service was bang on and the spacing between courses was perfect. All of our food was piping hot and very tasty.. Chef even made a starter of a keema puri that wasn't on the menu.. So all in all an easy 5*recommendation and well done to all staff again for making our visit memorable for all the right reasons

Altafs was an amazing restaurant/takeaway when it first opened.. I can only say it was extremely disappointing I ordered a korma it was at best luke warm just like the rice & the chicken Was really dry like it had been microwaved… Very disappointed ☹️ won’t be ordering again from this once lovely takeaway!!

Had.a take out from Altafs bar and Grill through Ubsr eats! Which do I criticise first! I ubar eats it was freezing cold! On the other hand we did have a burger that had some warmth, so!!!? As for the rest of the food the lamb kebab was like beef jerky, great if your into that. Been told by several locals not to use Altafs, should have listened 😩

The restaurant is very welcoming and very friendly. We had a lovely table and the decor was lovely The staff were friendly and helpful. Mattie was like very. They could not do enough for you. We ordered the drinks s first , then we ordered the meals. The starter came, amazing size, very tasty and authentic. Again the staff were there for anything you needed. They didn’t rush us, and gave us plenty of time to let the starters settle, and it was a very relaxed atmosphere. We then went on to the mains, amazing flavours and the size of the portions extremely generous. The. Staff were amazing, the Manager was exceptional. Just on the customer service I would recommend. But also the meal was also exceptional. Would definitely recommend this Balti. Best in Worcester! Thank you staff fora look very meal !
