Doesn’t get any better than this excellent food ,service and atmosphere

First visit with family today, what a treat! Fantastic food, hot, fresh and a absolutely great choice of dishes. Huge shout out to the staff too. Sadly didn't get his name but the guy looking after us made us feel at ease as soon as we walked in. So polite with a great sense of humor. I myself was not sure of the "spiciness" of some dishes, he kindly brought out an array of the sauces they use (yes some were extremely hot) My dish was customised to my taste changing steak to chicken with no problem at all. We all had something different and all four dishes were amazing. We were pleasantly surprised when we got the bill too. Fab reasonable prices. Give Amigos a look if your close, you won't be disappointed. Thanks Amigos see you again soon!

Excellent Mexican restaurant. The beef chilli Chimichanga was the best Chimichanga I have ever had. I sincerely suggest you try the Michelada if you like beer and spice. The chicharrones are a great starting nibble if you like pork scratchings, I will certainly be ordering these again. We shared the pulled chicken nachos and we're very pleased with these too. My partner had the carne asada tacos, which she said were very tasty. We shared the apple Chimichangas for dessert and would recommend if you like apple and cinnamon. They reminded me of a strudel. I am looking forward to trying the fried ice cream next time. Food, drinks, service and atmosphere were all on point, I can't wait to return in the new year.

Preface this by saying I have been spoiled by Mexican food having Mexican family living in the US 🤣 when we moved back to England and age ate at Amigos I was so disappointed it that we avoided it for years, but I finally gave in to my cravings and was so pleasantly surprised at how much they’ve improved! The birria tacos SLAPS and the carne asada was good too, the margaritas have always been really good. What would make me SUPER SUPER happy if if you guys would fix the queso recipe. Restaurant style queso recipes are sooooooo readily available and easy to make and the American community would absolutely lose it if they could get legit restaurant style queso somewhere close. I have never seen any restaurant in the UK make it right and it’s so easy! The second would be to fix the salsa recipe. What you guys are rocking right now tastes more like pizza sauce, but it could be sooooo good because your chips are on point. Having said that none of rbis is stopping me from coming for birria on a weekly basis - I just know with those fixes the American community would love it and our UK community would finally get to experience some truly amazing restaurant style Mexican!

Really great meal at Amigos, very reasonably priced, and the food is SO GOOD. I hadn't been before, but will definitely be back! I asked for mine without beans or sweetcorn, this was no issue, the waitress was lovely, attentive but not overwhelming. Jug of Margherita was tasty and good value. Vegans, veggies and allergies all catered for. Definitely leave room for the gorgeous puddings. Really recommend a visit, it deserves every bit of it's reputation.

Stumbled on this great Mexican restaurant during a trip to Bury st Edmunds. Food was amazing and plentiful (Burritos). Great service and very good value for money. Will definitely return if we ever come to Bury again!

Due to my allergies, I have to be careful what I have to eat. They had no problem preparing a meal for me separately from other meals.

So i ordered take away tonight not sure of what i wanted to eat and have ordered from here before all i can say, if u like spicy food go for it (mwha) really hit the spot i ordered the chilly beef burrito with rice and beans i love how they pack the food for delivery keeping all the veg cold and crunchy the sour cream nice and fresh and the hot food nice spicy and hot, all i can say if u order dont do what i do and order with your glutony as one burrito is so filling i couldnt eat my rice and beans so having it for luch tomorrow also so full couldnt even eat my fudge cake i ordered 😅 also the drinks my gawd first time i ordered with a drink but yum yum the mango one is to die for id give 10 stars if i could

Great little place, 2 for one Tuesday is great. Staff were really good and food was tasty as. Would recommend and will come again some time.

Third time in a month we have been to this restaurant and not a single disappointment. Everything the food has been scrumptious, service brilliant and such a vibrant ambience. Can't fault it, booked again already.

It is hard to find good Mexican food in the area, so this place is our go-to because the food is always good and the portions are very generous. The Margaritas are pretty good, they offer different flavors like raspberry, mango, strawberry, etc. On Mondays they have 2 for 1 margaritas and on Tuesdays they have a deal on food, 2 for 1 as well, so you will have plenty of left overs between the deals and the portion. Great place but it is a little small so when they get busy, you may have a wait. We always recommend this place to anyone looking for good Mexican food in the area.

Amazing little place food was amazing and the staff were fab especially Jim who makes not just your evening but your whole day with his infectious smile and just his whole outlook on life give this man a raise he is a credit to your buisness .

We had a great meal at Amigos Restaurant. There was a wide choice of options and the food came quickly and was really good. Thanks to our server Katie who suggested some dishes and was very attentive and helpful. I liked the atmosphere, the music was at the right level so you could enjoy it but it wasn't so loud you had to shout across the table. Would defiantly visit again.

We have been here a few times now, really delicious fresh food, kind, happy staff. Me and my son had the Burrito, it was massive, my son took half of his home and enjoyed it again later.

We did not even get to eating any food, or sitting down for that matter. We had a reservation and went in eager to eat. However, it was rather loud, that’s absolutely fine and does not bother me but, my mother is deaf. They refused to accommodate her and allow us to sit at a table that wasn’t directly under a speaker even though the restaurant was 85% empty and in no way would our moving impact any other customers. They decided they would rather turn away paying customers than accommodate a deaf and disabled woman. Unacceptable. In addition, the food did not look appetising in the slightest. We went to Francela instead, which is just a few minutes away, and received incredible food with absolutely PHENOMENAL service.

Really great Mexican food and a must on their Taco Tuesday 2-for-1 nights. The carne asada tacos and house margarita are fantastic!

Dined on a two for Tuesday. Great food, as always, server so friendly and welcoming and great atmosphere. Went above and beyond by noticing my note on the booking about celebrating exam results and a birthday. Arrived to find banners and party hats on our table waiting. It's the little things. As usual, perfect service from the staff at amigos. The food is gorgeous but James really made the night. Nothing is too much trouble at amigos. Took my mum for the first time and she loved James so much she had to take a photo! Just wish Rachel was there too then it would have been the absolute dream team. Those two are the highlight of amigos.

Organized a surprise party for my partner's birthday. We were a bigger than usual table for the venue and they took it all in their stride - fantastic service and experience. Food was the best I've had in Bury so far and they have great beer deals for groups. Cocktails worth the prices! Will definitely visit again 10/10

Amazing experience. The place was filled and the vibe was in check . All staff were soo lovely and accommodating. The food came out and honestly best place I have ever eaten . It was fresh flavoured to the max and a decent size portion . Ray served us and she was honestly brilliant made us feel super welcome even when the place was busy all staff made the time for everyone . Will be back !

The place was pretty busy (as it deserves to be), but the staff handled it all very well. The food was very well made with big portions, and somehow not too heavy. Special shout-out to Ray, who was very friendly and made my girlfriend feel very special on her birthday.

Went here with friends as they recommended the 2 for Tuesday deal . Mexican isn't our usual go to meal but I really enjoyed my burrito! Service with a smile too , a lovely evening overall,would definitely return.

Had never been before so took the chance. Contacted by email beforehand as needed table for 9 people. Quick response confirming my booking. Turned up slightly early but table was ready. Drinks ordered and brought to the table quickly. Food ordered and again brought out fairly quickly. Food was freshly cooked, great quality and definitely plenty of it. Service got a bit slower as the restaurant got busier but there was definitely no rush to get us out. We asked for jugs of water a couple of times but it never arrived. Desserts were very good value too. Even bigger bonus is that most main meals are half price on Tuesdays. Definitely recommend and we are already planning a return visit, or two.

Very friendly and incredible with our toddler and our dog. James, our server, is excellent, friendly and fun.

Food pretty good, but tends to merge together amongst all the cheese, instead of popping with individual flavours. Music too loud as could hardly hear each other speak and service ok, but not really attentive enough, as had to get up and ask for a few things during the evening.

I've said it before and I'll say it again this is the best restaurant in Bury/Suffolk/anywhere!! hands down. Always get the veggie chilli burrito every time and it gets better and better everytime I order it. 👌 Fresh and amazing flavours, love the sauce, the filling, the toppings it's all bloody lush! The food and service is great, but the music was so loud that the cutlery on our table was vibrating from the bass and to even communicate with the server required pointing at the menu and there was no way to talk to the other people dining. I had to resort to tapping out messages on my smartphone to talk to my husband

A few days ago I ordered shredded beef in enchilada sauce. I got a huge piece of meat but it was not shredded at all! My husband got Burrito in Serrano sauce. The meat was not shredded and it didn't contain any rice, only meat. The food is not cheap so I would love to get a good Mexican food. We've already visited the restaurant a few times but this happened for the first time. I'm not sure if we order again😑. We are disappointed.

I rarely write reviews, but felt our experience at Amigos was so excellent last night that it deserved a write up! Our waitress was fabulous, very attentive and friendly, in fact her service was faultless. The food was delicious, authentic, fresh and had that home-cooked vibe you rarely get at restaurants anymore. I will visit again very soon!

Party of twelve from three generation for an early dinner. The atmosphere was very busy with lively music probably not for a romantic dinner. The staff were friendly and efficient throughout the evening. Very good selection of food quick service. The food was all well presented and tasty. The portion size is very good with plenty of meat on the dishes. Sharing starts excellent. Go give it a try it might not suit everyone if you want a quiet meal but nice food at reasonable prices.

Staying in Bury St Edmund’s for a week we have tried a different restaurant each night and this has been an unexpected gem: we arrived early but were immediately accommodated despite the restaurant being really busy . Unbeknown to us Tuesday is a 2 for 1 night so we 3 had a sharing platter starter and a main each ( huge portions beautifully presented and delicious) for the price of 2 mains . Mexican beers a treat too but the star attraction was Ray our table waitress who was so friendly, attentive and helpful . Truly a ray of sunshine and a great asset to this delightful restaurant

We recently came here as a family of 4. This place is way overrated and very overpriced for the quality. One of us got a chicken enchilada and it had so much water running off it, we had to pour it into a glass - disgusting (see photos). The wrap it came in was soggy. The burritos come swimming in a sweet tomato sauce which makes it a soggy mush so you can't pick it up with your hands. Staff were lovely but the food was not, definitely wouldn't come back.

Disappointed no draft drinks and the music was a very loud (but that could be an age thing). However no king Prawns midweek and no decaffeinated tea or coffee.

What a place! Six of us went for evening dinner. Fantastic food, great service & atmosphere! One thing it was quite cold due to outside door at bottom of stairs open.

It has been called the country's best Mexican restaurant - and I have to agree. I've eaten a fair bit of Mexican food in (and out of) the UK, and this is the best of our offerings I've had to date. Now you've got your headline, why? We dropped in on the way back from GoApe! in Brandon feeling understandably tired and hungry. Sparkling service from a really fun waiter, huge portions (it's not often I can't clear my plate), delicious food and great value were what we got. Jarritos on the menu is always a good sign. I'm just sad I couldn't stay for dessert, as both the horchata and churros looked excellent over on the next table! As an added point, the loos were spotless as well. We nearly assumed it was closed from the unassuming front, but that had the added advantage of meaning it was not horrendously busy at lunchtime either and service was very quick. Make sure to try the door before concluding it isn't open! If we're back in Bury again, we are looking forward to a return visit. Thanks Amigos!

Brilliant! Food & service just fabulous. Having lived for many years in the US I sorely miss decent Tex-Mex food & Amigos offers by far the best I’ve found since returning home to the UK 7 years ago. Not pretentious, just good honest flavorful great quality Tex-Mex food & beverage. The staff were great, the owner a genuine nice guy. Wish we lived close enough to frequent Amigos but we’ll be back anyway. Highly recommend.

Overallall a decent place if you're wanting "scratch that itch" for a bit of Mexican fare. Itsa solic experience for what you can get in the UK. We came here for a late lunch/early dinner and was seated immediately with no booking. The staff was friendly and attentice as the restaurant filled as we got closer to dinner time. Food overall was decent, nothing was exceptionally a standout, and I found the chips to be like most here, too thick (but I figured they might be). The restaurant itself is a unique setting and has lots of character and charm but is not accessible regarding mobility issues (there are some serious stairs to get to the dining room upstairs). Don't be alarmed if you enter and think they're closed, thats just the receptions area. If you don't see anyone just head upstairs. I will say its the best margarita we have had here so far.

Amigos is a nice little Mexican place in the heart of Bury. The food is average (especially if you hail from the west coast) but if you crave some decent Mexican with a good price then Amigos is hard to beat. The staff is usually friendly and attentive.

A firm favourite for regular visits the food is good with generous sized portions, the cocktails are really good and it is all reasonably priced! Busy on a Monday night, that should say it all!

This deserves a 4.9 at least! Best Mexican in UK by far. Never disappoints.

Had a really great time! Me and my partner had been before for dinner and was great! decided to try the bottomless lunch with some friends and was equally as good and great value for money!! Also accidentally made two bookings and rang up to sort it out and the person on the phone was super helpful and polite :) Unlimited chips and dips and margaritas (delicious btw) or corona's for 90 mins with a main included for £32... Bargain Really polite and friendly staff and service very fast Would recommend 👌

We went there last week, food was ok my partner’s prawns came raw for some reason and had to go back to the kitchen. But in overall nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Drinks are a little overpriced( Cocktails ). Will go there another time and see how it is the second time.

Always fantastic no frills Mexican food, large portions. On a Saturday night the atmosphere is brilliant, fun music and everyone in a feel good mood. Service is prompt and friendly and cocktails are super tasty (especially the Miami Vice).

Brilliant food, service, atmosphere and drinks

Don’t let the exterior put you off, upstairs we got the warmest of welcomes and really delicious food. We were so well looked after and the food was both tasty and plentiful. Even on a freezing Wednesday night in January the atmosphere was lively. We live the other side of Cambridge so won’t be able to revisit regularly unfortunately , but we will definitely be back when we are in the area. Thank you for a lovely evening.

It doesn't look very inviting from the outside, but the welcome is warm and friendly inside, as is the ambience. Sam was very accommodating and made us feel right-at-home, while looking after us well through-out our visit. The menu is huge with loads of great sounding food and there's a big vegetarian section too. Our food was freshly cooked, arrived fairly quickly and everybody on the table reported it was tasty ... clean plates all round! Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food and service provided. This is a super little independent restaurant, go support it and you'll have a great time there ...

First time here and we wouldn't rush back. The cocktail was pretty poor, I have seen on the bar they use already made funkin mix, my pina colada was mostly crushed ice and that terrible mix. My calamari starter was tastless, very greasy and barely nothing to eat, my main I was disappointed to received a burrito which looked more like Enchilada, never known anywhere to serve burrito with melted cheese on top & red sauce. Now, service wise, this needs to be brought up, as we sat down we overheard the waitress say to the ladies next to us that the two tequila shots have been removed from the bill, I assumed the waitress made a mistake during service and as a goodwill gave the ladies two shots, which they were happy and tipped £10. I noticed the waitress doing it again, to the table on our left, I thought this is weird. She then done it to us, saying don't tell anyone but I have removed the cocktail off your bill, probably expecting a tip by doing so. My partner felt obligated to leave a tip, as we didn't pay for the cocktail. This is very poor of the waitress, and having worked in hospitality 10 years this is not how to make tips, you give a decent service (which she failed to do) and do not steal from your employer. How can you explain to your manager the reason why on every tables in your section, there is items that need to be removed, surely this is a big red flag. I thought this should be addressed.
