Brilliant food and lovely family run restaurant. Went on a Saturday lunchtime and couldn't rate more highly

Nice friendly Italian, very attentive staff. Foccacia bread and dips amazing. Good pizza, but lasagne very disappointing, tasted no better than a frozen one! Don't like forced service charges, this should be down to the customer. Overall nice atmosphere but very quiet.

Great pizza! We've been coming here for ages and we've never been disappointed. The food is great and the staff is more than friendly. It's the best Italian restaurant in town and you can find the traditional food in the original Italian ambience. I very much recommend it.

I had been before and remembered a cosy place but it didn’t seem the same I booked days ahead and informed them it was my daughters birthday and I wanted a window table. Neither request was acknowledged

Durante una visita ad Eastbourne, siamo stati, dopo avere letto le recensioni su TripAdvisor, in questa Trattoria. Devo dire che abbiamo trovato il locale pieno, l'accoglienza è stata molto calda. Abbiamo scelto la carbonara, scelta azzeccata. La pasta fresca era cotta al dente, come tradizione vuole. La delizia al limone, tipico dolce della costiera amalfitana, era fresca e molto buona. Complimenti ragazzi, ci rivediamo al prossimo tour in uk.

Siamo tornati, dopo circa un anno, in questa Trattoria. Siamo stati veramente bene. La Carbonara, autentica così come il cacio e pepe. Lista vini completa. Come sempre mai delusi

Rarely have I had such delicious pizza outside of Italy. The entire team on site is passionate about their work - you can feel and taste it. At the same time, the prices for England are still surprisingly cheap. If we travel to the area again, I would definitely come here again.

We arrived late in the day so only pizzas were available but what we chose was lovely would definitely return .

Had a gorgeous meal last night to celebrate my parents anniversary the food was just out of this world it was being back in Italy.

Been eating at this restaurant since they opened in Bolton Road. Never disappoint food is always very good.

The service unfortunately was not great at all it took them time to notice us to give us a place to seat even though was not busy,they tried kinda to let us leave 1 hour befor the restaurant close taking the menu saying the kitchen is closing even though they had customers inside and let more customers in.and after offering them pizza and pastas . In total eating in several Italian restaurants in city the food was not promising here.

The food was good, the spaghetti ai mare could have had more flavor, the pizza was very good. The service was quick and always there and not unfriendly but also not really friendly as you would expect from England. A enjoy with the meal or the question of whether everything fits would also be appropriate.

The Italian restaurant in the center of Eastbourne really pleasantly surprised us, we recommend it to everyone who after a few days in the UK can't even see burgers and Fish&Chips 😅. We had pizza, children a children's menu and then desserts. Everything really excellent!

Lived up to it's reputation, great food and service, Staff were great.

Lovely stop for lunch with seats outside. We all had the omelette, which tasted amazing. Service was great, the staff were really friendly and made us feel really welcomed. Overall fantastic food and would definitely visit again.

Prodotti di ottima qualità e cucinati nel migliore dei modi , proprietari molto gentili e alla mano che sicuramente fanno la differenza , anche l allestimento del tavolo torta è stato fatto interamente da loro e devo dire che siamo ampiamente soddisfatti. Prezzo adeguato a quello che si è consumato , direi vivamente consigliato, sicuramente torneremo anche per provare la loro pizzeria. Top

Excellent address! The food is a real taste of Italy. Fresh products all in delicious recipes and this for very reasonable prices. Lunch menu: 2 courses £14.40 very nice portions and fresh pasta all over. Highly recommended.

Cut in pieces would have been good

From the lovely waitress who complimented my outfit, to the cosy and warm atmosphere, and the amazing home-made food! Even down to the soft dessert, everything was hot, freshly cooked and lovely! Would defo recommend visiting here again 😊

I ordered a pizza here online after a long day of work. On Google maps the place was open, as well as on their website and I placed a pickup order through their website. I went to collect the pizza 20 minutes later only to find the place shut? The next day, I received no email or phone call stating that they were sorry about taking the order when they were closed. Later on that evening I went back in and the place was empty. I walked straight towards the back as there was no one to greet me and I was told rudely to go back to the entrance and wait to be seated (which was weird as there was no one around). I then explained what had happened the day before. They instantly put up a barrier and became defensive and rude. Not sure why as I was smiling the whole time and was keeping it chilled. The owner then waltzes over and shows me his phone showing he has refunded me. Great, but why not give me a ring or update me as to why the order was not fulfilled. It's not my fault your business was saying open on both Google Maps and on your website. You should be the one accepting responsibility for that, not me. I'm the one coming to give you business so the least you can do is apologise and offer some sort of gesture of goodwill. I then re-ordered another pizza to give them another chance but the pizza was cold, doughy and wet. Quite an average pizza. Happy to give this place another go and would happily change my review if you would like to offer me a pizza for my troubles. Thanks!

Really great food! We ordered two regular base pizzas and two gluten free for four of us to share just to compare bases. The regular is proper authentic italian pizza & the gluten free pizza was SO good too! Absolutely 10/10 would recommend!

The pizzas here are really some of the best- really hit the spot. Just what we wanted before going to the cinema with a glass of wine and a starter

1st time ventured and very good experience. Had just opened up-very pleasant dining room menu very extensive-chose 2 staple dishes-lasagna & bolognese-both home made. Not long we were duly served and both excellent-plus plates were hot-very good sign. Managed to then find room for tiramisu-again perfect texture. When more time available will go back again-very good find!!

Lovely family owned pizzeria. Fresh cooked food. Meat started for 2 was tasty and just enough. Mains the wife had sea food pasta, all home made and fresh. I love calzones…. They were not in the menu, there was a statement on the menu saying there’s no changes to pizzas as they knew best, soo I love calzones so I reluctantly asked….. he was more than willing, asked my favourite choices of filling and made it…. It was one of the best I’ve had for a long time. I hope they do there’s in the future as I will be going back. Well worth a visit.

Checked reviews and booked here. Was not disappointed, very nice staff, great food and service. We had a meat starter for 2 which was a perfect size and tasty. Mains, wife had seafood pasta and they made me a calzone…. It’s not in the menu….i told the owner my favourite tastes and he recommended a pizza and the calzoned it for me….. it was one of the best I’ve ever had. Well worth a visit.

A strong restaurant moving into takeaway which brings a few new challenges. Ordered the Verace Napoletana which due to the fresh mozzarella the topping had slipped off and steamed in the box and the base was wet. And a tiny thing - pizza's aren't being sliced before being sent out. To be clear, the food is great - although a shrimp and rocket pizza would make it amazing! - just a few teething issues to think about when moving into takeaway.

A very oily soggy pizza, very floppy. Also please do not advertise it as a prosciutto pizza when you’re serving up packed ham form the supermarket. Was very much looking forward to a proper Neapolitan style pizza and was left very disappointed. Thank you

This restaurant offer’s consistently good food and service. Warmly greeted by the owner, great choice of food, wine and beer. The food is absolutely delicious, beautiful bolognaise and decent sized pizzas. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in Eastbourne for high quality Italian food. The ladies of our group tonight were presented with a Christmas card and Italian amaretti biscuits! - what a lovely touch!

The food was outstanding, along with the service from the staff and the wine was exceptional. I had the bruchetta to start and the papadelle mushrooms and Italian sausage. The staff even understood my request to wait between starter and main because of an operation I had which limits what I can eat! Nice little restaurant, a stone's throw from the seafront. A must visit for anyone looking for a traditional, well decorated and pleasant Italian restaurant. Thank you 👍

Such an amazing experience at Trattoria Anema e Core! I’d mentioned it was my friend’s birthday when booking and we arrived to a legit birthday card from the team 😱 they also sang her happy birthday and lit a candle in a mini cannoli so she could blow it out. She was incredibly touched and it was so kind of the team. The food was terrific as well - an excellent charcuterie & cheese board to start (the bread was terrific), and we all had pastas for a main: seafood paccheri, pappardelle bolognese, and ravioli. Our waitress was completely delightful. Lovely atmosphere, and the whole experience will be a wonderful memory. Highly recommend!

Wonderful pizza and nice draught lager.

We have been to Anema e Core many times and we go always with pleasure. Every time the experience is extremely delightful. Always great meals and top quality ingredients. We often have a delicious Pizza and for dessert Tiramisu. Absolutely tasty and authentic Italian food. And ,as always, lovely staff.

We went to this fabulous restaurant last Saturday. We always feel at home. The food is authentic Italian and the service is very friendly, traditional Italian style. Thank you guys we hope to see you soon

As my partner already wrote a review, I decided to join her. As an exec. manager of a Michelin star restaurant, I don’t recommend this place. The chef (owner) is greedy and his service is absolutely unacceptable . The food we received was old, possibly reheated in the oven. Pasta and Risotto had no taste and were absolutely blunt. I love italian food but if you respect yourself as a chef you must not send out food like this to the customers. At the end of our visit he (the owner) was aware of the situation as the server told him. I guess he declined to deal with the situation and charged us fully. Also, £10 service that he added to the bill (he probably takes it home). I had a really bad day and only wanted to enjoy some of my favourites but the day ruined completely. I didn’t want to argue so we just left. All I can say, if you really love italian food, there are much better places than this. I would love to get my £68 refund but obviously it’s not possible.

We left the restaurant upset, and feeling sick. We were a walk in booking over the weekend, the restaurant was completely apart from 1 table when we arrived and we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience by the front of owner/chef, he even refused another walk in when we were sat down, stating they had room for pizza only. There was a lovely young Italian waitress who was trying to serve us but the owner/chef kept taking over and was quite frankly being rude to the staff and us. My partner ordered a Negroni for drinks, and I ordered a non-alcoholic beer. The Negroni tasted diluted and pre-made, which is not what you expect for a restaurant of this standard, particularly when the restaurant is quiet. We got a mixture of starters, the bruchetta, parmigiana balls and meat Arincini. The Bruchetta was burnt and dry just some chargrilled bread with some tomatoes the parmigiana balls were flavourless and overcooked. The arincini was actually okay. For mains I have the Risotto Gamberetie E Zucchine, it was tasteless and watery, reminded me of rice pudding. Plus the prawns had no flavour and the whole meal did not taste right. My partner had the the Paccheri Ai Frutti Di Mare, the pasta did not taste home-made and the seafood was frozen and bland, and the dish was overly fishy and did not taste right. The dish had no flavour and was not edible. We both only had a few bites to eat of each main dish. We were made to feel uncomfortable to say much about the dishes as the owner kept speaking about us whilst we were sat down. My partner asked for the dishes to be packed as we felt really uncomfortable in saying. The nice Italian waitress came to us after the dishes were taken away, she spoke to me discreetly about not liking the meals, I told her it was not nice and I felt uncomfortable saying, she apologised and was really lovely about it. She went and spoke to the owner/chef about us but he responded to her quite angrily then came over to us to take payment, making us feel even more uncomfortable. They also charged a service fee which seemed to be more money than necessary. Honestly the whole experience was just really upsetting and would not recommend at all.

Food very tasty, may be a bit expensive for the rather small portions

We've wanted to visit here for a while but we always have our dog with us which makes it tricky. We visited for lunch and all four of us had a delicious meal, by far the best we've had in Eastbourne. Fresh and tasty authentic Italian cooking and wonderful friendly staff. We can't wait to visit again. Thank you!

Booked a hotel just round the corner. Because we took our dog with us ,we decided on a takeaway pizza. The place had a proper pizza oven, which meant the pizzas were authentic Italian pizzas. The toppings were so tasty, Just what you want on a cold evening. If we go back we will sit in next time. The staff were very helpful, and friendly.

First visit - superb, genuine Italian restaurant. Excellent antipasta, enormous pizzas, and tasty bottle of Fiano to wash it all down. We will definitely return!

This is the best Italian I have been lucky enough to visit in a very long time! Everything was stunning and delicious - the lasagna was outstanding and honestly the best I have ever tasted (I stopped mid mouthful). I am already excited to go back soon!

My husband and I had a fantastic meal here, the food was home cooked authentic Italian to very good standard. Staff were attentive and happy and helped make the evening very enjoyable.

My husband and I happened upon this place for lunch with our 8 year old son and were so pleased to have discovered it! Knowing Italian food v well (used to live there and visit often), Italian restaurants are invariably disappointing in the UK unless you go high end, but this place is an absolute gem with authentic Italian food and drinks. Carbonara is sadly generally made with cream and ham in this country, but a mark of how good this place is, is that it's actually made with eggs and guanciale! I had pizza which gave the ones I had in Naples a run for their money. Great drinks menu with lots of different spritz's - even a trendy Cynar spritz. Looks like any other bog standard Italian place from the outside but don't be fooled.

We had a wonderful experience. The authentic carbonara and sausage and mushroom paperdelle were delicious. The gelato for dessert was smooth and tasty and paired with their wonderful espresso was perfection. The staff were fantastic, everything was taken care of with a smile. The one and only issue we had was that the centre of the arancino ball that we had for our starter was slightly below temperature, not cold but not hot. Other then that it was a perfect meal.

Das Ragù (bei uns: Sauce bolognese) ist ein TRAUM!!! Mein Mann liebt die scaloppine ai funghi porcini (Naturschnitzel mit Steinpilzen), ich den Thunfisch (tagliata di tonno). Oberkellner Lorenzo SEHR nett und freundlich, die Chefs arbeiten mit und sind absolute SPITZE!

Very poor service, I was never spoken in such a way. Was turned down when we went with the kids claiming they were fully booked and didn’t have a table of 5. So turned up alone tonight before 9pm, was told by the waiter that the restaurant is closed. apparently the owner insisted that they were closed and not serving food and shouted that it was his house. it was recommended by one of your friend as we do eat outside and like to try new restaurants. There’re better restaurants in Eastbourne to try Italian food, I would recommend Rostick, pomodorro, simply Italian and Picasso. They’re very friendly with a good food taste. it was very bad experience, avoid this restaurant. I wouldn’t recommend, not friendly atmosphere and poor behaviour.
