Ardoe House Hotel & Spa in Aberdeenshire

I go to SPA and I enjoy it a lot! Very nice place in the countryside. Very good personnel.

Didn't go inside or stayed but just went to see the place. Outside scenery is awesome and there is a farm right next to it down the hill with a couple of highland cows which are very friendly and came right up to us close to the fence. Took nice pictures of the cows and places around. There are legends of the Ardoe house top floor being haunted which makes it even more intriguing place to visit.

Christmas Fair was perfect. Organised well! Practical Art thank you so much.

First impression of the hotel is that it’s very grand looking from the outside. Inside, in some areas, the hotel needs updating, other areas could get away with no chance as they pass for more of a classic old fashioned vibe. The hotel rooms are nice enough and the en suites are lovely. I was looking forwards to using the spa and gym facilities - it’s great to stay in a hotel that has this. As much as I enjoyed using it, the spa seemed dirty. The changing rooms were absolutely disgusting with what looked like years of dust and hair all over the benches and floors. Because of this I doubted the cleanliness of the sauna and gym equipment.

This is a great place for a weekend away or just a meal or high tea.. Attached are spa facilities for a bit of pampering I highly recommend the Ardoe for a visit you won't be disappointed

My husband and I got married at Ardoe over the weekend and I couldn’t reccomend the venue enough! Interior and the grounds are so stunning and make the perfect backdrop. Eilidh and the rest of the events team are so fab and nothing was too big an ask. Throughout the whole wedding planning process we had various meetings to go over our wants and needs for the wedding and the team were so adaptable and allowed us to amend some parts of the package to fit our ideas which was so appreciated. On the day the team was always at hand and checking in if we needed anything which was so appreciated. I would 100% reccomend anyone looking for a central wedding location without being in center of town to visit Ardoe. It’s so beautiful and you won’t be disappointed. I haven't stayed in the hotel. I visit the spa as a guest. Their steam room has been broken for months. It's been out of order for my last 6 visits. Yet, they still charge the full price for entry, despite one of their four facilities being out of order. If asked, staff always 'don't know' or say 'we've arranged for someone to come and fix the thermostat'. The rest of the place looks tired and shabby. Everywhere you look you'll see mold, flaking paint, rust, water stains. The glass front of the sauna is filthy and look like it hasn't been cleaned in months. Last time I went, the water in the hot tub was cold. The whole facility has a run down feel to it. Although they have recently had nice new lockers put into the changing rooms. For the same entry price of 15 pounds you can use the beautiful pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi at Alten's Hotel which is about 10 minutes away by car. Their facility is clean and well-maintained. I suggest Ardoe House modernize their facility or drop their entry price.

We enjoyed our short stay - good spa centre - but away from main block

Not so lucky with this stay. Without car, all transport depends on taxi, no buses to City. Probably not at problem since most guests arrive by car. But on the other hand quiet and comfortable green surroundings. Room not ready at checkin time. Was sent to one of our two rooms, and still not ready. Problems with staff, but handling, service and compensation is just not good enough. Broken coffe machine, not really clean in bathroom or room. Condition, room and especially service level was partly disappointing. Compensation for late checkin and room not ready was snacks worth 5£. But sincere apologies from room manager. Charming, classy style, our price was good, but partly bad service, and our Superior room was more worn than our kids standard room.

Nice hotel that is a little dated inside. The rooms and furnishings are a little old but the place and grounds are nice. Breakfast was nice, but the same choices every day. The location is a little bit outside the city but with a car no problem.

Lovely place, the services are excellent from the gym to the spa to the restaurant. The rooms are large and functional

I recently stayed at this hotel for eight days with my work team, booking a total of five rooms. Our experience was absolutely dreadful, primarily due to the horrendous cleaning service. The rooms were filthy from the start, and it only got worse as our stay progressed. Firstly, the towels we left on the floor to be replaced were ignored for days, left there to gather dust and who knows what else. The mini-bar was never restocked, leaving us without basic refreshments, and the trash that was clearly visible on the floor was never picked up. Even the bathrooms seemed untouched by housekeeping—dirty and unpleasant to use. One of the most frustrating things was the pillows. I left them on the floor, hoping they’d be changed, only to find them still there, untouched, when I returned. This was a clear indication that the cleaning staff wasn't doing the most basic tasks, let alone maintaining any standard of cleanliness. On top of that, when we went to the reception twice to complain about these issues, the staff seemed completely indifferent. It was as if our complaints went in one ear and out the other, as nothing changed whatsoever during our stay. The state of the rooms and the lack of service were unacceptable. I am thoroughly disappointed and will make it my mission to recommend that no one stays at this hotel. It's clear they don't care about their guests or maintaining a basic standard of hygiene. Stay away if you value cleanliness and decent service.

Beautiful and cosy hotel with really great service and breakfast. The SPA is more a Leisure Club, but there is all what you can need to relax and enjoy the benefits. We could have a late check-out which was really appreciated.

Great place, just on the outskirts of Aberdeen which made it perfect as a base for day trips out. We didn't use the spa facilities, but the on site restaurant was fantastic. Just make sure to book a table in advance.

Beautiful location, beautiful building.

Super room, great food, friendly staff. My only complaint would be the Quality of the Wifi and lack of smart TV. Its 2024 wifi should be strong enough to connect to in every room.

What a great hotel. Really recommended. Quiet location, good breakfast, free parking. To Aberdeen City 15 minutes by car. We'd love to come back.

Got an on-line deal excellent value for money. Staff are all very pleasant. Food is excellent as well 😋.

The service of every staff is friendly and good. The room is spacious and clean. Food is also considered good. Great architecture and must walk around the castle like hotel to appreciate its beauty 👍 Seriously under-staffed and many hardworking staff are running around taking care of enquiries, food delivery and cleaning.

Fabulous castle hotel. Our stay was too short. Very comfortable and spacious room. Clean and great snacks etc provided. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and staff were lovely.

Fantastic looking hotel, beautiful views, excellent staff and the food quality was fantastic too. The pool area was excellent too, we will definitely stay here again and would recommend it.

Great hotel, full of history. Room was really nice but let down by a stain on the carpet and curtain coming off the rail. Small things and a bit picky. Other than that room was brilliant. Service is excellent and facilities brilliant. Easy access to Aberdeen and Royal Deeside. Set in lovely grounds. Perfect location. Highly recommend.

We were married here 7 years ago and loved it. We stayed a year ago and were bitterly disappointed, HOWEVER, under new management, now and the wedding we just attended was wonderful.

Lovely old building. Nice rooms. Disappointing choice of drinks in the bar. I imagine it is a very different place at weekends as it has the makings of a lovely country house hotel but appears to caters for business travelers during the week. It must have been a stunning place when you could see up the river.

Nice rooms. Beautiful surroundings. Almost impossible to find a bartender. There was several groups at the hotell at the same time, but almost impossible to get a beer for any of us. Might be short staffed, or they had very short opening hours

Charming from the outside, having the structure of a castle but the spa was poorly maintained, very dirty and not at all relaxing given that the pool is also used by external people for various swimming courses. The breakfast is rich and the rooms are quiet.

Went for three course lunch as a gift from our son. Food was excellent and first time I ever ate black carrot's which have more nutrition than ordinary carrots. Service was great and located in beautiful ground's near River Dee

Having married there 20 years ago, this place has definitely gone downhill. Went for high tea with my sister and niece and was a complete disaster. Time was wrong , 45min wait for a coffee whilst they sorted the mistake with the timings. Eventually getting the high tea the 2 kids ones came the same as adults...not what was ordered, manager apologised and gave 50% off of bill due to the fact it was so bad and service wasn't great. The chairs we sat on felt like we were going to fall through them, needs replacing! The pool and facilities need to be renovated ASAP! The spa and pool area is absolutely filthy, esp around the coffee and prep area. The changing rooms are okay. However, so many lockers are not working or broken. Need a few more cubicles. The beams over the pool have while flakes of paint coming off. For a 4* hotel, I'm afraid this is unacceptable and should really be close for a refurbishment, really run down.

Beautiful hotel and grounds, food was OK but could have been better and spa was cancelled

Dissapointed - received a 1 night stay for myself and my wife as a gift from team of people that work with me. Followed up 3 days prior to booking that all is in order and was informed only the person who made the booking is allowed to check in, even though my name is in the notes and stated that it is a gift. Tried to get the person that made the booking to assist, but as he was away could not come in to do the check in. Called again to see if there is a work around amd was just told sorry. So very dissapointing as was looking forward to a night off but sadly was ruined due to this and actually quite embarrassing to have to deal with something that was suppose to be a pleasant experience for me and my wife.

We had a fantastic two nights away, with a comfy room, great breakfast and nice, attentive customer service. The only thing I was not happy with were the changing rooms at the spa centre. They were very run down, with broken lockers and not clean at all. It was very unexpected after being in such a clean hotel.

Amazing venue, staff have all been very friendly and accommodating. Leah at the spa was lovely and made our experience great. Room quality is lovely, restaurant has great vegan options and staff are all very knowledgeable and happy to help. Recommend the vegan afternoon tea

Came here for a night away from the kids as we stay not too far away. Have been here a few times before. The room is great but the services wasn’t so good. We had a nice meal in the restaurant but it’s not as a la carte as was expected. Went for a drinks in the bar after but a bit underwhelmed by the lack of atmosphere. They ran out of my tipple and stopped room service at 9pm for food. Was really looking forward to having cheese and biscuits in our room with out drink before bed. I have never been to a 4 star hotel that doesn’t serve room service after 9pm or ran out of a simple drink of Bailey’s on a Saturday night. Maybe up the bar atmosphere and have some music in the bar and more staff on the bar and restaurant.

Stayed for four nights at end of January. Reasonable price for the room in such a lovely hotel close to Aberdeen. The room was a good size with large shower room. Access to swimming pool included, although it was busy at certain times of the day - later in day/evening was quieter.

Very comfortable bed, great spa facilities. Natalia, the masseuse who massaged my wife and me, was a Swiss army knife! She combined a relaxation massage with a facial for my wife, and she gave me a ridiculously deep and hard massage (as I asked for) to me. It was great. The pool, the steam room, the sauna and the hot tub were absolutely fantastic and very clean. The bar and the bartenders were great as well. We also went out in the almost freezing cold rain and pet the three highland cows who are next to the property. It was a great experience.
