Aroma Indian Dining in South Lakeland

Delivery was 45mins late, food was like warm at best, and when I called to discuss the matter I was told to “just wait”. Food was ok at best but service was terrible

We dined at the aroma last night, we booked a table for 2 for 6.30 we were shown to a table upstairs the room was freezing everyone had there coats on, I said to the person that showed us to the table it was very cold and he said that he had put some heating on.i must admit that I have never seen a heater so small. The service was cayotic to say the least and the food not much better wish we had stayed in.

Aroma thoroughly deserve their recent award! The food was all sublime, we had a set meal for 4 and from the poppadoms and pickles, through the starters to the mains and accompaniments...each dish was fresh, tasty and served by attentive and amusing waiters. We will definitely be back!

What a fabulous takeaway we were only visiting area for 3 days really good

We ate in the restaurant. The curry was great - the flavour was rich and a great variety of options. However the service was chaotic - we were asked the same things multiple times by different waiters, drinks and food were slow and the waiters could be quite snappy to the point of rude. They seemed overwhelmed, like they couldn’t cope. Plus the space felt cramped with too many tables.

They were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure we felt welcome throughout the meal. Their warm hospitality really elevated the experience.

Four of us, work colleagues, had a really pleasant meal here. Great food, friendly waiters, served at just the right pace. Would definitely recommend and will have no reason to look elsewhere for Indian food in Ulverston. Very happy with everything about the place.

Beautiful food and truly lovely staff. We were staying in and around the area for the weekend and decided to try this Indian restaurant. 5 stars all round! Slightly on the pricier side for an Indian, but the food explained why. Maz, our waiter was a top bloke!

Good food, really tasty. Knowledgable about gluten free - all the curries are gf and the popadoms and onion bhaji are safe too. Service was so slow we were considering leaving and they mistakenly brought a meat dish that should’ve been vegetarian but the food was so good when it finally came that I’d still eat there again.

I have recently moved to the area and decided to try a takeaway. I love a Biryani, but not had any Indian food since my trip to Rajasthan in April. The dish was excellent. The best Biryani I have had in a very long time.

Lovely food, great service, amazing variety of regional dishes. Huge portions and clean, fresh venue central to town.

On this fine evening in ulverston my dad , brother and I went out for a spontaneous dinner. The taste was divine and spectacular!

We ate very, very well for two with the vegetarian menu for two! We are delighted and would like to come back if we are in the area :) The servers were very pleasant and the music in the background sets the mood. Everything is perfect thank you!

Really lovely food. I had butter chicken and it was so nice chicken was really tender. Egg pilau was tasty and a lovely fresh garlic naan. All came beautifully presented. Hubby had tandoori chicken on the bone it came on a sizzle platter and he said it was up their with the best. First visit but definitely not the last

This places never fails to deliver excellent food. Good flavours, and decent sized portions. Our go to place to eat in Ulverston.

Really friendly staff! I needed help in deciding dishes and they were spot on about the flavours. Being from London, I have and a variety of Indian food but this was in my top 5 of all time.

As always an absolute amazing meal at the Aroma. Never disappointed by the food and service. The lamb biryani was delicious especially when washed down with a pint of ice cold Kigfisher.

Dropped-in and ordered a takeaway with my daughter: Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, 2 types of Pilau & 2 Chapatis. Was only waiting 10 minutes and they added 2 complimentary poppadoms and 3 dips. Very tasty Curry! The Chicken pieces are huge and excellent quality. I have no problem recommending Aroma - will be back!

Great meal … exactly the spice level I asked for.

We went in to order a takeaway on the spare of the moment. The restaurant was clearly busy but they welcomed us in. We’re able to enjoy a nice drink while we waited for our food being kept informed of its progress. Food absolutely delicious. Can’t wait till next time.

Consistently good food and service

The balti was absolutely lovely, but the rogan josh was a little bit bland… overall, the atmosphere was very nice and the waiters were incredibly attentive (sometimes too much!)

Worst biriyani ever. I tried biriyani from many places but this belongs to bin. No flavour , no aroma nothing only just some decoration. 4 people tried same chicken biriyani everyone have same experience.

If your nearby go there, if not travel it's worth it. Myself, my wife and mother-in-law had a wonderful dinner at Aroma. The staff are brilliant with a mix of great service and humour added so much to the experience. Food is just to die for, get the poppadum's for the pickle tray, it's amazing. Thanks to front and back of house for an amazing dinner.

The worst takeaway we've ever ever had in our lives!!! Lukewarm food, far too sweet, £13 delivery for an airbnb address 10 minutes away. 8 of us ordered food and were incredibly disappointed, especially considering it took over 1 hour to arrive. Robbed blind to day the least and wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. A full refund wouldn't be enough. Edit - The reply tells you all you need to know. You have my contact details from the order to Hill Top Farm on the evening of 29/09. If you need any further evidence of our dissatisfaction, then feel free to get in touch, I'd love to hear your explanation of the added amount on top of the cost calculated from the menu. Pre-show dinner before seeing a band at the Coro. Both the service and food, Rajastani Gosh & Nepalese curry, were excellent and we would both eat here again. If you aim to eat around 5:45 you’ll make a show for 19:30 with no stress.

This restaurant is fantastic for an early evening dinner at a very reasonable price. We enjoyed poppadoms and chutneys, starter, mains and nan bread or rice for a fraction of the regular menu prices. All beautifully prepared, cooked, presented and delivered with a smile or a joke from our waiters. A thoroughly enjoyable meal with great company. Will definitely visit the Aroma in Ulverston again.

Walked in on a Friday night but was accommodated immediately. Lovely menu choices and the food was beautiful. We had a lamb shashlik and a Chicken Passanda and both meats were excellent quality and cooked perfectly. Bill was reasonable and staff were extremely polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Early booking. Nice restaurant with very friendly staff. Ajay was our main waiter, good banter. Very quick service. Food was delicious. Very well priced. Would Thoroughly recommend.

Food just okay. Nothing special in taste. Not much vegetarian starter options. Carpet needs help. Staff needs to be more polite and professional. Some of them were very arrogant.

Amazing meal tonight at Aroma. Service was second to none and the food was amazing and plenty to choose from. At the end of the meal we asked if they could book a taxi but none available so one of the guys called his partner to take us back to our Holiday Cottage in Swarthmoor. We didn’t have a booking when we arrived. It was the Ulverston Lantern festival evening & all the places we went only had reservations. The owners were very obliging & got us a table for 2 despite already being very busy. We had the happy hour meals which were delicious, a really good portion & served quite quickly after ordering. By 6pm customers were still Coming in hoping for a table but by then the place was packed. It’s obviously a popular place visited by the locals. We were a bit rushed by time we finished our main course & drinks but considering it was probably one of their busiest times of the year & not wanting to turn customers away we understood that. Waiters were also really friendly. Will definitely come back & can recommend Aroma to everyone.

Horrible experience with the staff. We went with 2 strollers and even though there was space they refused us to get in and said they were all booked. Then we decided to take away, was asked to come to collect the order in 25 mins, went in 20 mins to check in and the one of the staff (K was the given name to us not sure if that’s right, lightly bearded muslim guy it seemed from the beard) rudely said we asked you to come in 25 mins, it takes time. Could have politely checked and could have said it will take a few more mins. His colleague later on came to apologize and said pls don’t leave a bad review but I had to! Was also being asked if I was muslim, not sure how did it matter. Looked like a racist staff as they were all treating the locals very well. Unfortunately, not recommending this restaurant to anyone!

Two set meals at £19 = £38. Additionally we had 3 glasses of soft drinks, this made our total meal £65. Won't be going again!

Definitely recommend !! the tandoori chicken on the bone was marinated and cooked to perfection. Lamb biryani was tender and full of flavour. The whole staff made us feel welcome and we was well looked after, my new go to spot for a curry in Ulverston.

Been coming here for a decade, the food is always good, fast and service is good. Recommended the naga and vindaloo.

Lovely and welcoming staff. The guys were very accommodating and jovial. Two of us got the lamb karahi which was really tasty! The aloo chaat was very filling and thoroughly enjoyed. Would come back if we come back to the area, and would recommend.

How very disappointing. Regular visitor for past three and a half years but tonight will be our last visit. Plates cold, curry cold, rice tepid. Bhajis and Naan bread greasy. There was a tentative offer to "warm up" my meal which I declined. Asked for Bill which was eventually brought with 3 After Eight mints. These were almost white with chocolate bloom.

Sent the wrong dish in a delivery; after having to argue with the fact that a chicken tikka thawa(in a red sauce) was delivered rather than the actual ordered nawaaby thawa(cream sauce). Rang to explain that the order was wrong and having to engage in an argument over the order. They then agreed to send the correct dish....but sent the same chicken tikka thawa(in and onion and red sauce). Rubbish service. Will not be ordering from them again. Service score does not include delivery driver, who was pleasant and apologetic both times he brought food. Photo 1 shows food delivered ..twice. Photo 2 shows what is on the menu. Decide for yourselves if you get what you order and pay for🤔🤔

Waiter seemed very rude from the moment he took my order and even when questioned regarding the price of the meal, very rude again ! Apparently if you turn up on happy hour you need to ask for happy hour so they can reduce portion size , if I went into a pub in happy hour I would not expect to ask ,and if I did I would still expect a full pint and not 3 quarters of one !!! Very disappointed in the service given

Lovely meal, fun and attentive staff. All our starters and curries were delicious and the garlic cheese naan is the nicest we’ve had anywhere. Definitely worth trying if in the area.

I went for dinner with my partner and really liked the place. The staff is very attentive, always available to help and respond quickly. We called ahead to reserve a table and it went very smoothly. It's a very family-friendly place and we saw several families with children. When we return to Ulverston it will be a must visit for sure :)

Tasty food with plenty of veg options.

Disappointed that not only has the price gone up £3 per person since I was last here a couple of months ago, but in tiny writing on the Happy Hour menu is a new clause where certain dishes are at an additional charge. Ended up costing about £14 more between two of us than we expected. Quite disappointed. Food was still excellent of course and the service was great as always.

The early evening special for 18.95 is great value and the food is of great quality too. A wide selection of dishes and specials that you won't find on the menu anywhere else. The staff are friendly and attentive and really go out of their way to help. No wonder the place is so busy!

Hi Maz, not sure why u asked for a review when we already said the food was not up to much. Chef made the wrong curry and the waiters didn’t even know what curry we had been served. Food went cold in 0.2 seconds and u have made me ill to be honest. Never felt like this 2 days after a meal. Crap

A cracking meal. Our first Indian for 7 years or more. Great service and food. The Kisan chicken and jalfrezi was so lovely.
