Artezzan Restaurant & Bar in Cheshire West and Chester

Having read several reviews, I'm not sure we visited the same restaurant. Frankly, I found the food to be underwhelming and overpriced. Shan't be rushing back.

Celebrated my birthday here recently (which also turned into my engagement) the manager noticed & brought over a round of drinks and a celebration card which we really appreciated and such a nice touch to the night and made it even more special! He was brilliant all night & very efficient for all in the restaurant. Thank you! Food was beautiful & drinks too! Would definitely recommend. First time trying here for our visit to Chester & will definitely be back :)

Beautiful food & nice atmosphere

No notice walk in for two. Wonderful greeting at a busy time and fabulous corner table, usually set for three. Rioja, mussels, humus, snapper, ravioli, more Rioja, basque cheesecake and a couple of after dinner drinks with wonderful, attentive service. And Everton won, beating Tottenham 3-2. All in all, a magical experience. Been before, happy to return, please consider this for a lovely meal. Thanks everyone.

We first went to Artezzan restaurant when it first opened just for drinks as we had already had somewhere else booked. On our next visit to Chester we made sure we went back and had a fantastic evening. We have just visited again to celebrate my birthday and we were not disappointed. My girlfriend made the booking and requested a window seat which was honoured. The service was exceptional. Our waitress (whose name has slipped our minds … probably something to do with the complementary Prosecco) was superb. She was very professional and engaged in conversation with us, we do remember she was from Croydon! The menu choices are vast and although my girlfriend’s first choice had sold out her second choice of fresh tuna was superb. My choice of venison haunch was again superb. Our overall experience was excellent and I was so pleased that my girlfriend had chosen this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. We will definitely be back.

Excellent service and food. The 3 of us all had the Chicken Souvalaki, with greek salad, it was delicious. It was my friend's birthday and the staff overheard. They brought us three glasses of complimentary bubbly which was such a lovely touch, highly recommended

Honestly, one of the nicest restaurants to eat at. The food was incredible, the restaurant is modern and really lovely. the service was fantastic. We were served by Kiera, she was attentive, helpful and just made the whole experience. We can’t wait to come back to one of favourite restaurants. It was value for money. If you do one thing in Chester, visit here! You won’t regret it

We dine here whenever we are in Chester and since it's inception in July 2021. Never had a complaint until this evening. Our table was not ready, which was fine, and took a seat to wait. Ordinarily, we would be offered a drink and the menus to peruse. Not tonight. After 10 minutes I had to approach the staff to order a drink whilst we waited. Eventually, we were shown to the table and our order taken. Unlike other tables, we were not offered water or asked if we would like more drinks. We asked for water, which was brought promptly, but we had no glasses for it, which we pointed out. Glasses were brought but then literally 'dumped' on the edge of the table. By this time our other drinks were finished. We assumed when the starters arrived we would be asked if our drinks needed replenishing. We were not asked. Once we had finished our starters, I approached the manager and suggested that a basic attention to detail was required, along with a request for further drinks. Whilst there was no apology for the inattention, which was disappointing, the service thereafter did improve, although we did have to comment on the servers reaching across with meals, being basic safety rather than anything else. Nonetheless, one should not be placed in that position. These may seem petty complaints but the lack of attention was a stark contrast to our previous experience, and our experience at Piccolinos (directly opposite) the previous evening. We have always recommended Artizzan but this evening's experience makes us now reluctant to do so.

Fantastic food. Lamb was beautifully cooked and fabulous carbonara pizza. Chocolate Torte also delicious.

Great atmosphere, great wine, great options and food and great service. Location central too. Overall, a great experience! Would def recommend.

Great service presentation of food very good lovely night

A weekend in Chester for mine and my partners anniversary led us to Artezzan where we indulged in the perfect celebratory meal. There were so many highlights, starting with Pinchos — Moroccan-style chicken wings and arancini di mare. Both were delightful, the Moroccan marinade on the wings was gorgeous. Sharing the mozzarella fior di latte Stromboli, the tomato, garlic, and basil butter melted into the bread. Next time, I’m trying a Neapolitan pizza! Both main dishes were cooked perfectly, which was impressive considering how challenging both red snapper and venison is to prepare. The desserts were sweet without being too heavy, both beautiful pastries. The presentation of the dishes speaks for itself in the photos. I have visited Artezzan restaurant on several occasions during 2024 with colleagues and friends. The ambience of the venue is good & we have always been made to feel welcome and the service has been great each time. The set menu, in addition to the full menu, provides excellent choice and the quality of food and the range of drinks is excellent also. Although we were fortunate that there was availability when we walked in early evening on one occasion, I suggest booking, to be certain of a table.

We always have a great time here. Great food and lovely staff without fail. It can be the busiest day of the year and the staff still go above and beyond.

November 2024.From the moment we walked in my husband and I felt welcomed. We hadn't booked a table but they still managed to accommodate us. The service was superb, the staff attentive and the food delicious. Would highly recommend and will definitely go again next time we visit Chester

Decided to cancel our booking (7 people) the day before because they had a bigger booking and were going to be really busy which actually meant aka more money aka we aren’t as important. Now I know to never go there. Thanks! 🤩

Went for a works do. Had the festive menu. The food was absolutely amazing and served hot and all at the same time. Our cocktails were gorgeous as was the merlot! Staff were really pleasant and attentive. Great venue all round...we loved it!

Booked this restaurant for a family birthday celebration for 14 of us (which included 2children) in October after reading the reviews, it didn’t disappoint. We were impressed with decor, friendly staff and the food was excellent, with good sized portions.

Really nice place if you like Mediterranean food staff go above and beyond

We were a party of 4 staying at Leonardos hotel across the road (which I also recommend). On arrival we asked if we could be served to fit in with an event we were attending at the cathedral and were assured that would be fine. The service from Gordon was efficient yet not stuffy and the wine recommendation was spot on, with the addition of a complimentary glass of lemonade in case the wine was too dry for one of our party...a nice touch. Each one of us throughly enjoyed our meals, served hot and fresh. Can't believe how busy it was for early on a mid week evening but testament of an excellent restaurant.

We visited last night was very disappointed after reading the positive reviews. I would definitely not go again nothing like mediterranean food I have been to loads of places abroad and you can't compare this food very expensive and poor quality ok if you like loads of bread and our plates were loaded with cucumber.

Great restaurant! Had Teegan for our waitress and she was ace! Made us feel right at home and really looked after us . The food is amazing along with the cocktails too. I felt like I could order anything off the menu and it would have tasted great. We were there to celebrate mine and my friend's 40th birthdays so they wrote a card for the table and also brought us a cake with candles too which was lovely. Highly recommend here.

This was a very enjoyable experience. The food was amazing. Best Italian I’ve eaten in a while. Spiced falafel followed by Serrano pizza. Never had prawns in pizza before but this was delicious.

When life gives you [citrus fruits], because the kitchen doesn't.. As a party of 7 we were aware of the need to show up on time, which we did, 5 minutes early. We expected a brief wait given it was a busy Saturday evening. What we hadn't considered was that we'd be left standing by the entrance for nearly 20 minutes with nary a glance from the host or a table captain. About when our patience was really wearing thin we finally get movement, but instead we get shuffled to the upstairs bar because clearly milling about near the entrance was hindering the flow of drinks out the downstairs bar. We expected some semblance of apology but honestly it was out of stock seemingly, a bit like a lot of the food. When we were eventually sat down, what followed was one disappointment after another as pretty much half the items our party hoped to order (or then tried to as a backup) were unavailable (no carbonara available - how do you run out of a dish that was invented as a war time staple?! It's whole raison d'etre is getting around shortages). One wonders if they would've been unavailable had we been sat down when we had booked rather than 45 mins later. It wasn't just restricted to missing items though, those menu items that Were available to order, the kitchen contrived to fumble. For example we'd ordered the orange infused octopus and king prawn linguini. Attempt one: linguini+prawn+half an orange (interesting choice of garnish, half a whole orange). But no octopus. Back to the kitchen. Attempt two: linguingi+prawn+octopus. But no orange. Aristophanes is behind this all, surely. Third time lucky, thankfully. I know they got rid of the Mecca Bingo at Chester but looks like the kitchen decided to make our dinner service a bit of a wheel of fortune affair to spice things up. Also I'm not sure if the loukomades is normally served in a Chief Wiggum-esque cartoonishly large portion but perhaps that was a bit too generous? Unless by that point the aim was to smother us to silence under a mound of pillowy sugary goodness. All in all an extremely memorable dinner that won't bear revisiting.

This was our 4th meal at Artezzan, this time to celebrate my birthday. Just as on previous occasions, the food and service were perfect. We would especially like to celebrate our servers, Cameron and Olivia. The after-taste of great service lingers long, and you guys were exceptional!

Relaxed but smart Mediterranean restaurant vibe with top notch food. With a range of tapas style starters our meal got off to a great start and we then enjoyed a fresh pasta meal and a creamy paella at just above pub prices.We had the basic wine but that was of good quality too. The wait staff were efficient yet friendly. Thank you.

****AVOID**** - we have just tried to book this restaurant and they lied to us and told us they were closed because we told them we would have prams!! I called back and pretended to be a booking of 4 people and they took the booking. Absolutely disgusting. Do not accommodate children.

A very average experience. All meals were extremely salty. Coffee was lukewarm. All window seats were left empty which seemed odd. Just not a comfortable experience.

We came in to celebrate our engagement and the gentleman who was serving us was wonderful. Very polite, good laugh and ran around to make sure we had the best experience. The food portions were large and the drinks were lovely. My favourite was the desert however. Overall a wonderful experience to celebrate

Brilliant small plates - excellent service

Scott our waiter was wonderful, cheery and smiling, asked us after each round of food how it was and made sure everything was great the whole time. He was so natural and chatty and made our experience at artezzan truly amazing…. We will be back and hope Scott is our waiter!!!!

Went to Artezzan yesterday for my husband 30th and it truly did not disappoint. They had put a very cute happy 30th card on the table which I love. The little things go a long way! ✨ The food was incredible.. had a pizza and some extra bits and everything tasted beautiful and so fresh. Then forced myself to get the Biscoff calzone (the main reason I booked this restaurant) and it was just amazing.. I also want to say how amazing our waiter was. Scott H was so attentive and friendly.. very welcoming and made the evening special.. So brilliant that even if the food hadn’t of been as great as it was, his service would have encouraged me to come back. He’s a credit to have! Cannot wait to return 🫶

Delightfully different Mediterranean menu from a range of different countries, well cooked and presented. The Artezzan has a lovely buzz to it and the service was just perfect. So why only four stars when everything else was five. Well we were given the table for only an hour and a half, not enough time. Shame really.

Booked for Sunday lunch, the restaurant is set out beautifully and tastefully decorated. Dinner was lovely, and the service is top-notch. The only issue for me is I would have liked my own dinner served on my plate. I'm not a fan of having to serve yourself. But that said, we would definitely recommend and return.

Amazing place to eat. Food was amazing the tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection (definitely recommend the red wine handmade sauce) and the truffle skin on fires were amazing. We had fantastic service and were well looked after.

One of the best restaurants I've been to in ages. 6 of us went and we all thought the food was outstanding, no complaints whatsoever. The service was also fantastic. Loved everything about the place including the atmosphere and the decor. Would definitely go again next time we visit Chester.

A large and beautiful restaurant near the very centre of Chester. The service was very friendly and my wife and I agreed that our meals (different) were perhaps the tastiest we have ever had in our 70 years and very reasonably priced too. We recommend Greek baked chicken and Chicken paella, followed by the cheesecake. Mmmmmm. We are certainly planning to return here in the coming years. Excellent!

Went for dinner. Told the waiter there was an allergy and was trrated with utter contempt. The chef could not or would not remove the allergen from his recipe. Could not ot would not make spaghetti with butter & garlic. I am not impressed with this establishment.

Varied menu. Nice atmosphere. We asked to be seated upstairs as the tables were better spaced out. For starters we ordered arancini and the beef short rib. Good portion size, especially the beef short rib. For mains we chose prawn linguini and el serrano pizza. Both were nice! Thanks to our server Gordon for the excellent service and for recommending the cheesecake which was amazing!

I've been here so many times and the food is always amazing. Really good value for money. I had my baby shower meal here as well and it was just beautiful and gave us a free bottle of wine. The owner is so friendly and helpful. ( if only he would put the fish risotto back on the menu.for me ) I would be so happy ha. Can't not rate this restaurant enough. It's amazing for any occasion.

We came here for our anniversary and had the most wonderful meal. The staff were so lovely and very attentive. They offered recommendations on wine pairings and were very friendly. I had scallops to start and was really impressed. Definitely recommend. The photos were our mains, lobster ravioli and pork tomahawk.

Booked a table at 10 pm for after a concert. Lovely welcome and table ready. Had some tasty Olives, a glass of Red and Chicken Skewer dish- again very good. Glad I opted not to have a starter (although had been tempted) as the portions were very generous and satisfying. Definitely value for money, staff lovely and very attentive. Looking forward to my next visit.

Went as a group of 13. Front of house team were excellent. We had had to preorder the meals, yet still some of the table were waiting for food to appear. One had his main as everyone had finished theirs. Food was delicious from a set menu. King prawns and chorizo in garlic and chilli oil for starter. Red snapper on samphire and cheese tomatoes served with fennel and lemon sauce. Great 3 hours spent

Visiting Chester for the first time in years. Looking for somewhere to eat, there was loads of choice, but this looked popular and the menu was very appealing -it ticked all the right boxes. We hadn’t booked, but there were only two of us and it was before 7 - so we managed to get a table. It was filling up quite quickly. Everything was great- the food, the atmosphere and the service. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about it and we could understand why it was so popular. A quality establishment.

Met an old friend here for lunch. Warm welcome, great menu choice, food was beautifully cooked, service was first class. Lovely vibe and pretty reasonable pricing. Will definitely visit again.

Very busy restaurant but we never felt rushed or delayed. The small plates (Pinxto) are a great single-bite way to sample lots of dishes. We all enjoyed the food at this Mediterranean focused restaurant.

There were five of us, (two couples and a grandaughter). We had been given the table requested (great start). Our waitress Anna checked if there were any allergies, (dairy and gluten) and did everything to help our grandaughter to find the right meal, what was brilliant about Anna was her knowledge of what food our grandaughter could have and checked if everything was going well. We had a great table, brilliant service and lovely food what more could you ask for.

Had an anniversary dinner here and it was totally worth it. Scott was quite gentle with his service to us and he was also helpful to make our dinner satisfactory. Small starters are worth to give a try. Sirloin was very balanced with salt and sides were tasty.

Revisited Artezzan yesterday for a delicious lunch. Service was exceptional. Sincere thanks to Charlene who looked after us so beautifully. She discussed my dietary requirements with me and then with the chefs who adapted a dish for me which was delicious. Charlene was so welcoming and friendly and really went the extra mile. The ambience, decor, food and drink were all fabulous. Great, too, that although the toilets are upstairs there is a lift. Our visit to Artezzan for lunch became a truly great experience in every way. We’ll be back soon! Well done and a big thank you.

Nice roast dinner and nice beef. Friendly staff. Less vegetables than expected. Only 1 potato a bit unusual. Served on a wooden board also unusual for such a traditional dish. Priced higher than typical Sunday roasts but not sure if is justified. Soft drink also significantly more expensive than expected. Nice day happy customer.

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch experience. Beef and Porchetta were excellent as were the dishes we ordered from the main menu. The two courses for £25.95 is great value. Staff were attentive and personable. Highly recommended.

Service was ok, what you’d expect anywhere really. Disappointed with the quantity and definitely the quality of the food. We had Sunday lunch and it lacked any flavour. I had biscoff calzone for dessert and you’d think, how could that disappoint! But it did. We vote with our feet and wouldn’t go back.

A great restaurant for girly drinks and a meal. I have visited for both lunch and dinner and have always enjoyed. Fully appreciate the clearly labelled menu as a vegan. Lots of options available. A 3 course meal can be enjoyed by vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians and meat eaters. Upstairs is quieter than downstairs. Toilets are clean and are situated upstairs. The highlight is always the churros! Can't wait to return to have more.

Just had a lovely evening there with 4 friends. As a Coeliac I was well catered for. It would have been nice to see more choices on the starter menu and there was nothing except sorbet for desserts. That said, the service was phenomenal. Thanks especially to Kira who went out of her way to make sure everything was good for us. Really lovely restaurant and I'll definitely be going back.

I loved every aspect of my experience here. Food was amazing, the service was great and it had a great vibe, and suitable for all adults! Gutted I love in Scotland and can't come back every month.

Our second visit to Artezzan and both times we’ve been impressed.. Tonight especially we had a fabulous evening. Myself and fiancé came in for a date night dinner.. The front of house staff, the waiters/waitresses were all so welcoming, attentive and friendly. They could not do enough for us. The atmosphere was fab and everyone having a great evening. We had the mozzarella stromboli to share to start which was delicious and I would highly recommend which came with a mouthwatering red pesto/garlic butter dip. For mains we had a ribeye steak with truffle fries and a chicken primavera which again was delicious. We could not fault the entire evening. One of the owners, Jim, came and sat with us at the end and introduced himself which was a lovely touch, and I think our lovely waitress may have been called Kiera.. we were certainly given the VIP treatment and we will be back. Really busy the night we dined here, so quite noisy, service was fantastic, food was honestly really good. Dessert menu was the highlight! Sooo many great puddings 😋

AVOID THIS PLACE!! 🚩 My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant last Friday because he was craving carbonara and we trusted the positive reviews. We started with a Pepperoni pizza, as nothing else appealed to us. The crust was thin and chewy, and the tomato sauce was runny, almost liquid. For the mains, my boyfriend ordered carbonara with penne instead of the original pasta, and I had pasta with chicken, carrots, sugar snaps, and pine nuts. Both dishes were dry and bland, with almost no sauce. The carrots in my dish tasted stale, as if they had been boiled days ago and left unrefrigerated. To top it off, our food took 50 minutes to an hour to arrive, despite placing our order quickly as we were quite hungry. They did discount our bill, though I’m not sure by how much, but that didn’t make up for the unreasonable wait time and the disgusting food. We were too hungry to leave and wait another 20-30 minutes elsewhere after already waiting an hour there. It was a complete disappointment. Despite the saying that hunger makes food taste better, bad food is still bad, no matter how hungry you are. I do not recommend this place, for me it’s a big No-No!!! AVOID!! I don’t have any pictures because I’m only used to capture things/food I’m impressed with, which was not the case.

Had a really lovely meal here on a Saturday night, service was excellent and the food was delicious. For me, the only slight improvement could be to add a vegetarian pasta dish; as the current options on the menu were either meat/seafood or vegan. Having said this, our server was very accommodating and more than happy for me to order a chicken primavera without the chicken! Will definitely be coming back.

Nice central location. Paella was nice looked spectacular and the carbonara was rich, not a classic version but still delicious. The service was fast and attentive and the chocolate torte was well made. Only improvement would be a slightly more relaxed atmosphere as it was quite noisy but overall a very positive experience.

Amazing brilliant service from I think he was called Gordon , sorry if not!!, gave my dad a bottle of fizz on the house for his bday & gave us all white sangria cocktails which were amazing! Amazing restaurant! We’re visiting our friends in Chester from coming over from Australia and they had picked their favourite spot in the city. It’s now our favourite restaurant ever! The food was unbelievable, we shared amazing ponchos and I had the lobster ravioli thank you thanks to the persuasion from our waiter Scott we had cheese cake for desert! And what took this restaurant to another level was the service Scott was so friendly and knowledgeable, also was interested in how we ended up coming to the restaurant and seemed so passionate about his job. A lovely young boy which the restaurant is lucky to have!

Big shout out to Seb - wonderful service and a lovely funny guy who made our evening even though it was busy with the races. Steak cooked perfect for my liking. Anna was equally as friendly, and a real positive member through a packed restaurant. Well done 🎉

We had an amazing meal tonight and served with one of the most loveliest guys I have met in hospitality called seb. Very attentive nothing was too much trouble! It was very busy due to the races but it didn't feel ir as everything was on point. No long waits and food was delicious and hot!
