Incredible food. Some of the tastiest bao I have ever tried. The food really is the thing that recommends this place, as the service is friendly but a bit lacking - we got all our food but the drinks never arrived, but were still on the bill (however they were removed when asked). The place itself is a very clever use of space, although the coat hooks directly over the tables are an odd choice, and when you're seated at a small table with a giant winter coat looming over it, it does take away from the atmosphere a bit...

As always the staff were incredible as was the food. Specially the duck Bao special 🦆

The service at Bao was excellent. The servers were attentive without being overbearing. The food was good. Some dishes (the Short Rib Bao & fried chicken Bao) were exceptionally, others were good but not mind blowing. All in all, a great meal!

We were here 2 hours ago for my daughter’s birthday and pre-theatre meal. Absolutely faultless! Excellent food and service. Would definitely come back!

This is a small restaurant and we were seating at the bar with my friend. We ordered few baos and starters. It is quite pricey but really good. It is more a restaurant where you enjoy good food and then leave as it is quite small and they make you feel that you need to leave quite quickly. The decoration has nothing exceptional but the food is good. If you have a big stomach it might become quite pricey though!

My first time at Bao, I wanted to love it but it's all bit of a rip off. I understand high prices for good quality and good atmosphere but this is not it. The food is good in the sense it's not bad. Ultimately it'a bao buns, which it's good regardless but it's a difficult food to make EXCEPTIONAL because it is a cheap snack food, on the go, and it's main ingredients are made in bulk. The ingredients and fillings are good here (though I found a bone in my Classic Bao, which was a bit sloppy). This location only serves Bao and small plates, and it's cafe style, so you're paying on average $50-60 per person (with drinks & service) to eat in a cramped noisy room (and we were facing a wall). One suggestion!! Please put content sizes (ml) on your drinks. At the very least your non-alcoholic drinks!! I ordered the cold brew roasted oolong tea (£4.50) and what arrived was a 200ml glass, half full with ice, and about 100ml of liquid. I was expecting oh I don't know, a decent sized glass? It's iced tea!! I asked the staff to please top me up and make sure the exposed half of the ice is covered with liquid. They topped it up with water. I sent it back saying it was diluted. And then we were treated to a lecture by the staff member saying that is their standard amount, and etc they could not change it because it's the standard amount. I said back, hey if you had put the size of the drink on the menu and I knew I was only getting 100ml of ice tea I definitely would not have ordered this drink. The staff took the drink back and made one with less ice and it was fine in the end, but that's just what should have been done in the first place!! We didn't need a lecture, just fix the problem. That's what service is. So on my last Classic Bao there was a bone in the bao and that just made me feel a bit disappointed about the whole experience. Go here if you've been and you love it and you think it's the best bao, fine. But avoid if you want a satisfying experience because this whole experience was unsatisfying in a way I was just not expecting.

Not sure what the hype is about… i mean a bao is a bao. There’s only so much you can do about it. The baos are not ur average traditional bao, it’s more like a fusion food. Also, I think it’s expensive for a small bao and yes it’s good but i wouldn’t come back for it.

Great food, very fresh and traditional, charming place. We had a great time eating at the bar. Small place so better to book! I recommend the classic bao and the ice creamed fried 😊

We ate one evening at this address. It was very good, the Bao were delicious, as were the sweet potato fries. They have a choice of original drinks. The service was fast and efficient. The restaurant is small but the atmosphere is cozy. Small downside in terms of the price for the scallop, it is only one scallop for 6.5 pounds…

Game of two halves. Excellent food and lovely, friendly service. BUT - this works brilliant for certain occasions (quick food, moving on to something else) and is a disaster for others (relaxed meal). And I went on completely the wrong type of occasion - I wanted to catch up with a friend a hadn't seen for a while. The team were charming but all over us, gently and first and then increasingly explicitly trying to get us to leave so they could turn the table. Even before we had finished our food and drink. I've been to 100s of restaurants and never felt this level of pressure (and we are two blokes, who eat quite quickly). I left actually quite stressed. I don't want to be too down on them - if this were a pre theatre meal, it would be difficult to top. But it's very occasion specific.

Easiest five stars of my life. Super friendly. Super yummy. Pricey though. Drinks can be hit and miss, Negroni was waaaay too heavy on the Campari but the blended Pomelo/Sake/Beer was bomb.

This is one of my favourite restaurants - I come back on a regular basis. I’m yet to find a place that makes bao just like them. I was apprehensive as they are a chain but they have the quality of a independent restaurants. I cannot reccomened here enough!

I had been wanting to come here for a long time and I was not disappointed at all. I especially loved the Classic Bao. It's a shame that I live in another country because I could eat here every week 🥹 highlight the kindness of the staff!

Excellent cuisine! The fried chicken is delicious and absolutely worth trying. The bao buns are also very tasty. The only downside is that the space is quite small, and the wall hooks for coats aren’t ideally placed—when they’re full, they can be a bit uncomfortable and get in the way. Aside from this minor issue, the overall experience is fantastic. The flavors are authentic, and the dishes are well-prepared. Friendly and attentive staff make the visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great meal in a cozy setting!

Another favourite of mine. 10/10 as always. The mapo aubergine is completely out of this world, one of the tastiest things I’ve ever had, cast iron 10/10. Pork belly bao also wild. Please have a beer too, one of the best, another 10/10. Would highly recommend this joint.

La comida aquí es buena, diría que por encima de la media en una zona con mucha competencia. Algunos de los platos un poco caro para el contenido y honestamente, me sorprendió que cualquiera serviría literalmente una vieira . . que no es una porción. El té también tiene un precio excesivo y no se sirve de la manera tradicional con las hojas en la olla y agua caliente adicional que hizo 3. 50 porque un dedal de té no vale la pena. Las otras bebidas eran excelentes y todos los bollos de bao que tuvimos eclipsan a otros platos. El servicio es bueno y es un lugar pequeño, así que reserve. Creo que vale la pena un viaje para una comida rápida si estás en la zona. Sin embargo, incluso mis huesos de casi 40 años lucharon en los taburetes bajos, mesas estrechas y espacio personal restringido. Así que quizás uno para los jóvenes como mi espalda y muslos estaban doliendo cuando nos fuimos.

¡Soho clásico! El tamaño del lugar (muy pequeño) coincidía con las porciones, en contraste con los precios. El servicio fue excelente – cálido, amable, buenas recomendaciones y rápido. Aunque el menú está dividido en platos, todo salió mal, lo que nos hizo inseguros si habíamos recibido lo que habíamos pedido. Para ser honesto, encontré que la comida era un poco promedio, aunque la carne de res envejecida en salsa de soja era deliciosa. El resto estaba bien. El especial de pollo frito fue un poco decepcionante, el bollo robusto y con muy poca ensalada de col. Sin embargo, recomiendo el helado horlicks bao, eso fue genial.

The food and service is absolutely lovely. Just ate there an hour ago! Unfortunately where we were seated, around the bar, the floor is extremely sticky. I’m not sure why, but I had placed my bag on the floor before noticing the hook under the counter, and my entire bag is covered in this sticky green/brown substance. If you have an idea how to clean my bag that would be greatly appreciated as I bought it this morning only!

I went here with a friend, and we did the £15 lunch menu which gives you three different items with various options. The food is really flavorful, and is incredible value for the amount you get. Will definitely be coming back!

As a Taiwanese, I heard that this restaurant has authentic Taiwanese food so I went here with my Peruvian friend. We tried a menu set of classic Bao, Taiwanese fried chicken and Guinea fowl rice and they’re so good! I was surprised at how good the fried chicken is since this is not a specialised fried chicken shop. The atmosphere is great and the food is so delicious despite a bit expensive. Overall I highly recommend!

We had delicious food at this tiny restaurant. The pig blood cake (black pudding!), guinea fowl and classic bap were exceptional, but everything was fantastic. There is a temptation to just keep shovelling small plates down but a little restraint served us well and the bill was more reasonable than last time (£140 including tips for 2 adults and 2 teenagers). Very much looking forward to the next visit!

Bao London is my go-to spot whenever I'm craving delicious Taiwanese cuisine with a modern twist. With locations scattered across the city, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a range of Taiwanese delights, whether you’re dining in or grabbing a quick bite to-go. The menu is a fantastic mix of traditional and modern flavors. I highly recommend trying the xiao chi (small bites) and noodles, but the real stars of the show are their signature BAOs. The classic bao and prawn bao are absolutely worth the wait—there are few things in life worth queueing for, but these definitely are! The pillowy buns and perfectly balanced fillings make each bite an explosion of flavor. If you’re a fan of bubble tea, their drink options are a great accompaniment to your meal. Bao London never disappoints. It’s a staple for me, and once you try it, it’ll likely be one for you too!

The bao was really small but delicious. The texture of the bread is great, the meat is soft and there is a lot of it. It was very delicious with the chewy skin in the middle of the meat. Milk tea is also delicious But the sweet potato fries and fried chicken are not tasty. It's hard to not like sweet potato fries, but they were very soggy and mushy.

Friendly cute spot with excellent speedy service. The confit pork Bao was soft and not doughy and the pork tender but it needed more sauce and an extra ingredient to make it tastier. A bit plain and a bit pricey for such a small morsel.

We came straight from the Eurostar with our luggage (3 suitcases) and were welcomed in despite the small interior. The place quickly filled, and surrounded us with a lovely buzzing atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was incredible. Each dish flavourful and well executed. I’m not a fan of greasy food, so I was very happy that the fried components were done the way they should be so that the result is deliciously crisp texture without an oily mouthfeel. ☺️
