Quick date night, on the off chance we walked in , looked nice and inviting , we was served by Tara who was really amazing. Food was really good food bar and block signature sauce was really nice.

Tara and Ellie were amazing and ultra attentive, very accommodating and an asset to the company

The food is great but the service is the opposite. We booked a table for 4 for boxing day. We looked at the menu beforehand online and also outside of their restaurant. They advertised outside their restaurant with a lunch menu of 3 courses for £15.95 Monday-Friday. It was a Thursday so we were going to go for that menu. We go in and they say the only thing that is available is the Christmas menu....even though Christmas is over but okay. We look at the Christmas menu, we were going to get the tapas to share.....not available either. The other things that was left did not have prices so we asked about them in this order.... ...The beef roast dinner....not available. ...The turkey roast dinner....not available. The waitress had to keep going back and fourth to find out the prices of the food we ordered because they are not displayed on the menu. It's not her fault but maybe next time she could have taken a picture on the prices instead of going back and fourth from our table to the system. We eneded up ordering a burger, fish, shortrib and a steak 'platter' or 'sampler' or whatever it was called because it was not that. They said it was a board of different cuts of steak. I didn't manage to take a picture but it was small cuts of sirloin steak and probably rump. It was way overpriced for what it was :) The food did taste good but the service was just bad. Don't advertise what you have in the front of the restaurant and not actually have it.

We had a really good food experience here. We tried a lot of the dishes including the scallops, crispy beef, salt+pepper squid, prawn flatbread, festive loaded burger, and steak sampler off of the festive menu. Was very happy with all of the dishes and thought the seafood was prepared better than most places we’ve gone to eat in Bristol. Definitely recommend.

Bristol - Dreadful experience, food was terrible. Over cooked fish and prawns, freezing cold steak, asked for medium rare but it was rare, had to send it back. Potatos tasted like they had been in the fridge too long. Sauces were questionable! The only good thing was the service and drinks. A total waste of £106! I had taken my daughter there for her birthday and I didn't want to cause fuss so I paid!!

Had a lovely roast here. Everything was well cooked and tasty. Cocktails and wine were great too. It was surprisingly quiet too for a Sunday which was a bonus for us after a heavy weekend in Brizzle

An enjoyable evening - good food (good streaks), pleasant ambience (no deafening noise or music), responsive and unintrusive service. Tried them out on taste card, well worth it.

La decoración y la ubicación es genial, pero el servicio y la comida que recibimos fue una verdadera decepción. El saludo inicial del 'manager' marcó la pauta de la velada. Cuando nos acercamos a ella para decirle que teníamos una reserva, ella dijo 'vuelva allí y espere, ya que estoy en medio de hacer una factura'. Fue una bienvenida bastante hostil! El menú es diferente a lo que está en su sitio web, así que no esperes obtener las tapas mexicanas que están en el sitio web. Pedimos 2 filetes a £ 30 cada uno. Cuando salieron eran dos tamaños completamente diferentes a pesar de que ambos pidieron 8 oz. Preguntamos esto con el gerente de nuevo que dijo que se debía a la contracción en la cocina. Esto no es correcto, ya que eran pesos claramente diferentes. Pero ella reemplazó el más pequeño por otro. Las mini patatas tampoco se cocinaron. Durante toda la noche fuimos testigos de cómo el gerente rechazaba a personas que no tenían reserva cuando claramente tenían mesas disponibles. Era como si realmente no quisieran hacer ningún negocio esa noche. La experiencia en general no merecía la etiqueta de precio y la calidad de los alrededores, así que nos quedamos muy decepcionados.

Nuestro servidor Gavin era fantástico - tan servicial y paciente - incluso cuando estábamos haciendo múltiples preguntas, nada era demasiado problema - lo que un activo para el negocio. Nuestra comida era increíble también y servida rápidamente. Sin duda volveremos y lo recomendaremos a todos. Qué hallazgo. Gracias a todo el personal.

Please stop calling yourselves a "steakhouse". Had to send my steak back 2 times, and 3rd time I just gave up, as I've already waited for 2h by then. All cuts were different sizes and weights, so, definitely inconsistent from the get go. Really, really disappointed with our experience. Really ruined the birthday date.

Super Meal Deal and super service from Eillen.

So disappointed . We booked for our 10th wedding anniversary . As this was a special day for us we decided to go to a proper steak house .. because you would expect to get a good steak ! My steak was lovely but my wife's was a shocker ... it was so rubbery you could have used it for a tennis ball . As soon as it came out you could tell it wasn't a good one , we asked for another but waitress told us the chef had turned off the grill ! 8:30 on a Thursday night , no wonder the place was empty . The steak was taken off the bill but that isn't the issue , we then had to share my steak otherwise my wife would have had no meal . You could easily get a better steak at your local Lidl or Aldi ! ( no offence to all the other supermarket's ) The price for steaks are very expensive so you would expect a good quality steak ! The price of the extras isn't good either , i upgraded my steak to have giant prawns @ £6 ... 2 very small king prawns came out £3 a prawn bit much , my wife ordered a side of grilled asparagus , it was like 3 pieces of string ! Unfortunately a very disappointing night , we wont be going back .

Food was lovely, came quick, steak was lovely more. My husband's was more on the rare side than medium rare (Fillet 12oz) but was still delicious. Loved the mexican rub on my steak. Would have liked more side options like Mac N cheese etc. Biggest steak size is 12oz. Sides were on the small side.

Gran ubicación junto al río y en la esquina de una de las calles famosas de Bristol. Mojito ‘s eran excelentes, Ellie nos cuidó bien y los filetes eran buenos junto con el entrante de carne de res rallada. La única mancha en el copybook fue la actualización del filete de añadir vieiras canadienses - 2 por £ 6 ! , , usar escocés y añadir otros dos.

Went for a friend’s bottomless brunch. Really good food, cocktails amazing. Would recommend. Downside very strict with finishing drinks before giving more drinks. Overall would recommend as good food and cocktails 🍹

We pop in for a few drinks on a Saturday afternoon, drinks are reasonable priced, good selection too and staff were very friendly. The place was also very clean and tidy. Definitely want to give the bottomless brunch a go!

40 min after ordering the food, We where informed that a new peace of meat was put on the oven and no forecast of when it will be served. It was 12 clock and the place was empty . Lack of management, Don’t recommend .

Great service from the manager Raoul, we had the lunch time deal that was great value. Had a couple of questions about the steaks to which the chef flo came out to give his insight which was a nice touch! Will be back again

Been a couple of times and always have a great experience, special shout out to Gavin who was absolutely lovely, really friendly and helpful. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the meal couldn’t be faulted! Couldn’t recommend more!

Came into bar and block on a rainy Monday afternoon, honestly made my day the food was spectacular. The stunning blonde woman (Amber) gave 10/10 service and extremely attentive. Special thanks to Aiden came up and greeted me from the kitchen. Will be coming back. Thank you bar&block see you soon, hopefully when the sun shines at king street once more. Eva greeted me with open arms and Duncan served me a cocktail that I will never forget.

Claiming a "greater representation through stretching targets around gender and ethnicity" is all well and good until it's interferes with quality. The two mid-rare Fillets order and not eaten were blue and had to fight to get and sort of money off. The atmosphere should have been a giveaway when outside was buzzing and inside was empty. I applaud your drive for equality but when it is at the expense of good food, I won't be back

Been quite a few times, it's a nice steak house with selection of different cuts, quality is lovely, can't go wrong with the ribeye steak. Staff are lovely, if anything goes wrong they will try to accommodate you and have been offered free drinks when food was late. I always return due to being a decent quality steak.

Stay a lot in premier inns and always look for the bar n block restaurants, this was the worst meal I’ve had at a bar n block and possible ever had. Crispy beef starter was a small sloppy cold salad different to every other restaurant. I had it re made but arrived after the main was finished. The brisket beef burger was missing onions, on a dry non toasted bun with a tiny amount of beef (£19). Some stuff also had poor attitudes.

Nice place by the river. Friendly service. Great food, lovely chips. Steak cooked to my liking Pepper sauce very nice but a bit small No peas available. Very disappointing Otherwise all very nice.

Booked a table online, one week later, no confirmation, called in only to be told the online booking system doesn’t work and no more than 12 people! Not difficult to put this on the website!

First time here for a meal with a friend Wednesday evening, place was empty Ordered a trio of steak sampler (Fillet , rump & sirloin) Ordered the steak rare Fillet was rare , other steaks were overcooked It came with onion rings They were also over cooked Chips were hot Signature steak sauce was ok Also ordered a trio of desert (Lemon cake , choc brownie & churros) Churros were over over cooked I Ate all the food and it was ok It’s Not a cheap place to eat & Bit disappointed to be honest Wouldn’t rush back

Breakfast was very good. Later we bought cocktails but they were served in plastic as we sat outside. Everyone around us had glass so it was a bit sad.

Came for a roast dinner today and it’s the best we have had in Bristol. Everything was cooked to perfection and we had all the trimmings, honey roast parsnips were a highlight. We met the head chef Florian and he was wonderful. Will be coming again. The service was also great, highly recommend

Really enjoyed our time here. Was pretty empty at 3pm so lacked in atmosphere which meant we were well looked after by Tara, our waitress. Food was delicious and drinks plentiful! Thank you Tara for a lovely few hours 🌟

Restaurant atmosphere seemed nice, unfortunately one particular female staff member was exceptionally rude when I asked if I had correctly paid £4.50 for a petty full amount of chips in a LARGE BOX.. I had also ordered a mojioto which arrived 80% ice and 20% mojito which cost £10. To be shouted at by staff in a quiet restaurant, was frankly humiliating. Plenty of nice bites on king street which offer better value for money & excellent customer service. Very disappointed with a seemingly lovely venue.

Amazing service by Cormac and Duncan! We had such a great night, mostly thanks to these dudes, and will def come back. Cormac has that easy Irish charm, he's great craic! Duncan's skin is radiant, glowing, iridescent, and luminous - just like his personality! Xxxxx

The food was ok, the service was ok… the whole visit was ‘ok’. Ordered two steaks - a fillet and a rump - and couldn’t tell which was which, but both cooked correctly. Chips fresh, onion rings lovely.

Definately gone down hill since I came a few years ago. Over cooked broccoli, onion rings appear pre packaged as well as the peppercorn sauce. Basic bistro quality with a steakhouse price tag.

The area in the Old City is characterized by many pubs and restaurants, the Block Steakhouse is recommended. Good quality. Modern furnishings.

A good clean large place to eat. The staff that served us (Tara and Cormac) were both excellent; really friendly and efficient. It was Sunday so we went for a Sunday Roast (1 lamb and 1 beef). It took a while to arrive (mid-afternoon) but was a good helping. However, it had obviously been reheated. The lamb was tough and the beef was dry. The parsnips were actually burnt to black. Worse part was that the Yorkshire pudding was not defrosted properly and half of it was icy cold. Sadly, even though the serving staff were excellent and understanding (they did offer free dessert or coffee), it is not a place I will return to. It will also make me wary of other branches.

Great food, I had a discount so for about £15 I would say it was just the right amount of food, for some reason the Crispy Beef didn't come with pancake wraps.

Tara is amazing. Dealing with a 20 x bunch of nearly and over 50 year old who have been drinking since 1pm, don't know what they have ordered and wants 10 x cocktails for happy hour. Bringing all dinners iut in good time and smiling bringing cocktail after cocktail. What a trooper. Annie was also super doooer..... didn't see anyone else but whoever made the cocktails and made our dinners . Top class. X

Tara & Annie were exceptional on both their professionalism and speed of service. No request was too much for them to handle. The food was delicious and the steak cooked to perfection. We came with a very large party of guests and the servers took all our requirements in their stride. Would recommend, can’t wait for our next visit

Amazing service. Tonight we had a party of 18 and everyone involved was patient, lovely, kind and there were absolutely no mistakes to any order! (Which is incredible) Had absolutely stunning service from Aimee and Tara. But had to ask for the chefs names (Flo and Larissa) and the bartenders (Oscar and Cormal) because they all deserved a special mention! Would highly recommend for a big group as the menu caters to everyone and they were super organised.

We used FirstTable and were not disappointed overall. Fillet steak was delicious. Could do with more of the red wine mushroom sauce though. Does it meet the standards of other premium steaks in Bristol? TBC, not convinced yet.

Had a great breakfast at Bar and Block. The service was great, have to mention in particular the poached eggs which were superb, cooked by head chef Flo. Loved the playlist. Great atmosphere and friendly service.

Had booked in for a bottomless brunch well in advance having been here before with the girls and had a great time. It seems it has gone downhill since then though as I received an email just a few days before saying due to 'supplier issues' they would not be able to do the brunch with cocktails. Very poor and should imagine they had a lot of cancellations.

Came for a late lunch, food was incredible! But the best of all was the impeccable service. Luigi was amazing, will definitely be returning!

After a late night, out on the town, we were looking forward to a good night's sleep. Putting my head down I stared up at the ceiling and noticed cobwebs above my face. Not wanting these to fall on me in the night I cleaned them off myself. Afterwards I noticed more around the room but left them for their housekeeping to deal with (as is their job). Once settled I went to sleep around midnight only to be awoken by the night receptionist banging insistently on our door at 01:15 to say that there had been a report of noise from our room? We were asleep!!!? I was very upset at being woken up for no good reason and did not get a good night's sleep thereafter. In the morning we went down for breakfast but could not see where the restaurant was. Asking, we were told to exit left and it was down the street a little. If we would have been told this yesterday then we would have taken our coats, being that it was raining. As it was we had to go back to our room and  fetch them before repeating the whole rigmarole again. Breakfast itself was ok but the restaurant was a tip: crumbs on tables and seats...We had to move because it was so bad. We feel the experience was very poor and submitted a complaint the day after for a full refund. It is now 16 days on and nothing! I will no longer be using Premier Inn.

We went for breakfast on Saturday morning. The atmosphere was relaxed, staff were friendly and the food was ok. We went for the hot breakfast. My only complaint here was my mushrooms were only the stalk but everything else was ok. When we went to get tea and coffee the mugs sitting on the tray by the machines were so stained that we thought that it was the used stuff. My glass had something stuck on the side so had to change it. The general cleanliness of the place wasn't good. The floor was dirty, cups were dirty, glasses dirty, tables outside along the side of the building still dirty from the night before. The mat outside the toilets looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long long time. The whole place was just very grubby. We had planned to do breakfast two days while visiting Bristol but after the first morning we decided we wouldn't do the second based on the cleanliness. The whole front of house just needs a good scrub. The person working front of house was on their own, before the end of service and while customers were still in dining, they went out for a cigarette at the front of the restaurant. One customer looking to pay had to go out and get them. Again no washing of hands just straight into taking the payment then taking food to tables. Just not very good hygiene practice.

when I walked in on a Sunday afternoon and it was empty alarm bells, should’ve rung. Ordered a roast & had to return cauliflower & cheese as was frozen & stone cold, meat was grizzly, potatoes were nice though!. Three others had the burger. Definitely not worth the £17 price tag, not worth it, very disappointing.

Food is was good; but smaller portions that usual. Connor was a great server and the drinks were fab. Thanks so much !! You were great!!

The service we received from Tara was excellent, she was very helpful at all times. The food we ordered was served quickly and was excellent. We would recommend a visit to anyone.

Had a lunch here with work colleagues, not impressed. Portions were small, some of the mains were missing (which were luckily steaks so were hastily cooked but after everyone was already eating) place had literally one other couple so no idea how they could have missed it. Overall would not be going back.

Food and service were brilliant. Food was cooked how it was ordered. Tara are server was brilliant. I really would recommend it.
