This was our fourth visit to Beadnell Towers for Sunday lunch and unfortunately our last. On this occasion I found it expensive and not good value for what was on offer. I complained about the roast potatoes which were advertised as being cooked in duck fat. They were as tough as old boots, had been re-heated and even then they were cold- Aunt Bessies have nothing to worry about. When I complained I was told by the Maitre'D had he told the chef. When leaving I noticed that a number of other customers had also left their potatoes. For the prices charged the least I expected was freshly cooked vegetables.

Interesting menu in a really nice room. Service a bit stretched. I had ox cheeks that were very tender and tasty. Decent wine list

Great food great surroundings with friendly staff and you can’t ask for more than that. We went with 10 friends while on holiday and left with 10 happy dinners. The place looks amazing and every dish was great. The best compliment I can give is I with this was my local restaurant.

We went for dinner on a Friday night the early May bank holiday weekend, booked as we were walking past the same afternoon (we werent staying in the hotel). The food, decor and ambience were all lovely and the absolute highlight was the service - staff were so friendly and attentive with a smile and banter as well. We were made to feel so welcome by all the team (sorry we didn't get your names!) We shared bread and oil, then had the rib eye and the cod which were perfect, great wine and cocktails too. There was also live music which was great, and a lovely atmosphere in the bar for drinks after dinner. Felt like a great place for a grown up date night, and equally there were families in the restaurant having a lovely time too. Not cheap, but would 100% recommend a visit if you're in or nearby to Beadnell.

We ate here two nights this week. In summary: First night: Starter: We both had the ricotta with walnut. Pleasant 7/10 Main course: Both the sea trout and the cod mains. Both were superb, perfectly cooked. 9.5/10 Desserts: Raspberry & pistachio tart and the Panna Cotta. The 15 minute wait for a Brakes Brothers standard off the shelf dessert was simply not worth it. Poor 5/10 Second Night: Starter: Crab souffle, I had the Mackerel. Nice 7/10 Main: Monkfish Cheeks with risotto. Monkfish was over cooked, bread coating made it very dry. 6/10. My hake was way over cooked, very dry 4/10. Dessert: Decided against based on first night. All of the serving staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful. With the cost of main course (excluding vegetables) costing circa £25 there should be much greater consistency.

I really don't recognise the venue I visited today with some of the poorer reviews. Lunch time visit and the staff were outstanding, the restaurant and bar area beautifully decorated. We had the small plates at three for £15 and it was a feast, I had gorgeous parmesan chips with truffle mayonaise, greek salad and arancini balls. There is plenty to choose from on the menu with a selection of prices starting at £10 for fishfinger sandwich and chips. Nice atmosphere, not full but it was lunchtime and they allow dogs in the bar area.

A warm welcome and a choice of tables in the restaurant. Beautifully decorated dining area, and we were looked after for the evening by the charming Matt who was friendly, professional, with a lovely sense of humour. A credit to you! A good choice on the menu I can recommend the Cuddys Cave Soufflé (beautifully light), the Alnwick Ale Battered Haddock ( after a seven mile coastal walk I was hankering for fish and chips and these were delicious)… and the scrumptious Sticky Toffee Pudding (ohhhh myyyy dayyyys) . We also had the chicken & hamhock terrine with pease pudd and sourdough bread, The Northumbrian Pork Plate which tasted as good as it looked! And Northumberland Honey Cheesecake. All absolutely delicious. A lovely surprise to find lots of different alcohol-free choices for the designated driver .. that was me! And the whole evening was just perfect. The restaurant was quiet with another four couples in at the same time as us but the ambience and the vibe was just right. Lovely also to chat with the Head Chef.. your food was beautifully presented and delicious! I’m already looking forward to booking in again for a birthday treat. Thank you for a lovely evening

Absolutely fabulous ❤️. My husband and I came to this fabulous restaurant last Thursday (28th September 2023) and had one of the best experiences we have ever had. The decor and the greeting on arrival were so welcoming, the staff were so attentive, friendly and professional. As for the food! Amazing!!! I had Steamed Mussels which were so sweet and tasty, followed by a beautiful Pan fried Stone Bass, gorgeous! Hubby had King Prawns which were huge and juicy in a delicious miso sauce, followed by Fish & Chips, but what Fish & Chips. Hubby often rates meals and this is the first time in 22 years of marriage that I’ve heard him give any meal 10 out of 10. Well done and thank you to all concerned 😘

We had three evening meals here, one excellent, one ok and the other - a night where they were clearly under pressure and short handed - pretty poor (tough overcooked halibut with overpowering mustard dressing). Chips are almost certainly frozen (crispy outside but textureless mush inside) which seems odd for a restaurant with the Beadnell Towers' pretensions. Serving staff are pleasant, helpful and willing, but clearly run off their feet with no time to catch their breath.

Short on presentation and service. I went there with my wife 2 nights ago. The place looked good and the menu reasonable and pricier than normal pub restaurants, so the expectation was higher. My wife’s starter was king prawns. They (3) arrived on a plate, unshelled and covered in a sticky sauce making the peeling of them a very messy affair. They were accompanied by a slab of dry granary bread which looked like it had been plonked on the plate - the whole thing had no finesse or presentation style. The mains were lamb burger for me, and hake and smoked salmon with potatoes and veg. for the wife. It was all edible, but there was nothing wow about any of it. Having eaten the night before in the pub over the road for a third cheaper, we both agreed that the quality, presentation and service was better there (Craster Inn) than at breadnell kitchen. We both left feeling somewhat underwhelmed by the experience.

We stayed at the hotel for three nights and we ate in the restaurant on the first night, the food was good, possibly a little expensive for what we had, could have done with some background music as the ambience was a little underwhelming, staff were good, attentive and friendly, definitely stay at the hotel again as it's excellent, not sure we'd eat in the restaurant when there are so many other places to eat in and around the area.

The food here is fantastic - an inventive menu built around local produce - but what really amazed me was how much care had been taken to ensure that the meals could be made gluten free and/or dairy free. I've never seen a menu with so much on it that I could eat! Highly recommended, just make sure you check in with staff about your needs and seek advice on ordering - the portion sizes seemed a little variable so it was helpful to know which options would or wouldn't be best with an extra side dish as well.

Nice place but I'm not sure having dogs in the same room (albeit slightly separated) is an experience I want at dinner. The constant barking spoils the ambiance somewhat! Good menu with a wide variety of dishes including vegetarian. Excellent choice of fish. Attentive service and lovely food but the prices charged are a little too much. £10 for a glass of wine is out of order where I come from! Do the prices charged reflect exclusivity? It's not exclusive if there are dogs about the place.

Visited for Sunday lunch today on our way back home from Berwick to Newcastle. Received a text about my reservation a couple of days prior checking for any allergies and if we had a dog. I'm glad about this as we do not personally agree with dogs in food places but this suggested that.they had a separate area (which they did on arrival so that makes me happy) Very warm greeting and shown to our lovely table. Such a nice setting. We decided on 2 courses and had a beef dinner, a lamb dinner and kids beef for our 5 year old. They came out nice and prompt and they were fab. Beef melted in the mouth, my 5 year olds first ever very pink beef and she scoffed the lot so that's saying something. The vegetable sides and Yorkshire were all gorgeous and cooked to perfection. We were originally going to get starters as well but were glad we didn't as the roast was very filling although the starters coming out looked lovely. We opted for dessert instead this time and both the sticky toffee pud and the chocolate mouse were amazing!!!! Utterly scrumptious. All washed down with a nice glass of red wine it was perfect. It's definitely not a cheap option but I don't mind paying a bit more for a treat now and again especially when the food is of such excellent quality.

I'm on record as having said on many occasions that if they awarded PhDs for scone-tasting, I should have a dozen. I've eaten scones in venues from the Orkney Islands to Australia and written about them in more publications than I could possibly remember. So, you can take my word for it that the freshly-baked, home-made scones (with butter and strawberry jam) at No.6 are quite possibly the best I've tasted in recent years. Cafe No 6 is a quaint place with a very atmospheric first-floor eating area, a delightful owner and staff who look like they are actually enjoying the job they do. My wife and I were just as impressed with the special 'doggy menu' on offer. We shall be back!

I’m so sad to see this lovely place closed. It had great staff and atmosphere and a fantastically good smoked haddock chowder. I wish its people all the best and I thank them for all the great visits we’ve had here. I really hope that there might be a replacement cafe of such quality. We’ll watch with interest.

Having been for a lovely meal a year ago we promised ourselves Christmas lunch this year. It was not cheap - £240 for 2 but we expected a nice experience so didn't mind. On arrival I was offered a drink and a waitress on her way back to the kitchen offered a left over canape. They said they were bringing more out but these never appeared - my husband didn't get one at all. There was nowhere to sit in the hall and as I struggle to stand for any length I had to ask about being seated. There was nowhere to hang coats except on the back of the dining chair canteen style. Please note we had been to The Grand Tynemouth the previous day and coats had been taken and hung on a rail. The room was undecorated for Christmas and cramped. We were sat at a very feeble table that seemed to have been assembled that morning-very rickety. After about 10 minutes a bread roll was brought. Great we thought food is coming. 20 minutes later the starter arrived. Considering we had pre'ordered early in December it should have been more organised. The starter we chose -pate- came with a very strange slice of bread? That I can only liken to jamaica ginger cake - not at all compatible. Then followed a long wait for the plates to be collected. No sign of a drinks waiter we had been there almost an hour. We eventually caught a chap who had delivered drinks to a nearby table and he did serve us. Dinner finally arrived - and I can tell you it wasn't just us. We were all looking around wondering what was happening. Nearly 45 minutes later. The dinner itself was not pleasant and definitely not worth the £240 cost. The roasts were not crisp. The turkey appeared to be pressed meat. The stuffing seemed to be commercial rubbery type. To say we were disappointed does not overstate it. I wasn't prepared to wait another 30 minutes or more for a sliver of Christmas pudding. So we left. Eshott what were you doing??? The whole thing was a shambles and definitely not what we expected or anticipated. You didn't appear to have enough staff. You crammed too many people in and your chef must have had a day off. Ruined what we had been looking forward to.
