We had our first Christmas dining out in 2024. The Bear was recommended by friends and family as the place to go. They weren't wrong. We were seated quickly and our drinks order taken. Our drinks and starters arrived quickly and every member of the team who passed our table made sure we had everything we needed and offered to bring more drinks or condiments. The food was delicious. I was nervous that we would be rushed to finish courses, but the pace was gentle and allowed you to really enjoy the chef's creations. The setting was beautiful. Warm lighting, a big Christmas tree. The table had a gorgeous, rustic runner and a scattering of stars. It felt cosy and homely. the music was gentle and low so you could hear it, but easily speak with your dining party. It didn't seem loud even though many people had also come to enjoy The Bear this Christmas. The team at the Bear were very welcoming. Everyone was smiling and happy. I really enjoyed chatting with members of staff who had sacrificed their Christmas to make ours very special. We're already planning to go back next year because it was so wonderful.

Slow service, had to ask twice for another drink. Hope our forthcoming Christmas Day experience will be better!

Christmas dinner here was so perfect. Absolutely delicious food that everyone enjoyed. Great hosting from all the staff- they were so cheerful and welcoming. It was easy to park, booking was so straightforward and lots of lovely details like crackers, loads of gravy and perfectly chilled Prosecco.

Really good service, good food and no long waiting times despite it being the festive season! A special shout out to Laura who was fantastic! Merry Christmas

It's brilliant here, definitely recommend. The wait staff are lovely, foods delicious, some of the best breakfast I've ever had. Me and my family went to the santa grotto experience and it was wonderful, the elves were amazing and santa was great with the kids, funny for the older ones and sweet with the younger. Would most definitely come here again. Thank you bear inn 🫶 especially chloe and Laura

I absolutely love this place. We first stayed in June in the accommodation and loved it. This time we were staying elsewhere but decided to eat here. It was absolutely lovely. Great service and great food. We'll be making this a regular place to eat and stay in the future.

All of our servers were welcoming and attentive (especially Lauren). The food was good value, came out fast, and was tasty.

The atmosphere was great, the staff were polite and amazing, everyone was accommodating and the whole place had a positive buzz to it. It was the first time that my dad had been out after a bout of illness in months and everyone there helped to make our evening a success.

What a stunning restaurant and rooms are ok and clean, just bring your own toilet paper for room. Cheap and thin

The food was excellent, I had a delicious steak dinner with many accompaniments. The meal was made all the more memorable by my server Chloe, for whom nothing was too much. I will be going back because value such as this is hard to come by in the UK!

We had a table booked for four at 1pm. We were eventually shown to our table & then it took at least another 15 minutes before anyone came back to take our drink & food orders. Once we had ordered, it took nearly an hour before we got our food. If we had been told at the beginning there was such a wait, we would have been prepared, but nothing was mentioned. When the food arrived, it was okay, the portion sizes could have been better. Two of us, literally had a small spoonful of peas with our meals! Once finished, because of the length of time we had already wasted, I asked if we had puddings, how long would that take. I was told, it could take a long time, so we said we would leave it. We were told they would bring us the bill. 15 minutes later, we were still sat waiting. We decided to get up & go to the bar & pay, then the lady who told us the puddings would take a long time, came back & said "we can do them now" We declined & said we were going now, after waiting 15 minutes for the bill, that didn't arrive! Overall we were very disappointed with our meal at The Bear, especially the lack of communicating & the length of time we had to wait. We appreciate The Bear was busy & it certainly looked under staffed, but then they shouldn't take on so many bookings & at least warn customers of the long delays.

First time visiting for food this evening. Everything was great, from being seated to paying the bill! Food was delicious, definitely the best meal we’ve had in a long time! And our server Laura was outstanding and so so friendly. Will absolutely be coming back very soon :)

Fantastic food, great staff. Easy to get parking and free once handed ticket in to staff.

The staff have great banter and are very responsive and respectful. Definitely would stay again and would recommend to any in the local area. After a long journey from Scotland it was the perfect stay.

Lovely food. Good price lunch menu, but 3 pudding options and one of them wasn't available. A little let down by service took ages to clear mains and had to ask for dessert tobe served.

Below average for a Sunday Roast

Long waits for our booked table, menus and food and the food was cold when it arrived and the manager was unwilling at first to speak with us he said to email him!!! I have been to your pub many times and have brought friends and family from Weston to show them how great it is but after this experience, I will never be back!

Lunch with family. If staying in the bear carpark make sure you select enough time its easy to overstay and pick up a £60 fine!

Worse food experience we have had to date. Avoid

We waited for about 30 minutes before getting someone's attention to order. The woman took drinks and food order, then went to the bar and started on our drinks but left our order to start serving other people at the bar. After 55minutes I went to the bar to collect ( still unfinished) drinks order. Our meal eventually arrived at 5pm (1 hour after our arrival). One other thing that was disappointing was the number of dogs that were in the bar/ area. The food was fine, the service generally was appalling. When we left the staff were stood together talking quite a lot.

My husband and I arrived about 12.20 as we were meetong a friend for lunch at 12.30. We were shown to our table and given menues. It took a while for our server to take our order and she was polite and professional. At 13.40 we had still not received our food and the 2 hour car park we had paid for was obviously not going to be lonf enough so after enquiring at the bar ourcregistration was taken and the stay made longer. When the food arrived my fries were so hard I couldn't use a fork and the few I tried when using my fingers were to hard to eat. My friends pie looked grey and the pastry was hard to cut as it looked like it had been microwaved too long. All in all a very long wait for not very nice food

Great room, great food and very pleasant and attentive staff.

My partner and I had a really nice meal tonight and because I actually was not particularly hungry they accommodated my request for a small portion. We could tell that the two waitresses who worked our area were really really busy and they were both working really hard to look after customers. Both were very attentive and Chloe made sure we were well looked after.

Had a lovely lunch well presented, Hayley was very helpful, lots of different ages of people. Would recommend this to anyone.

The food is always good , the staff are friendly and there are generally offers available that make the prices very competitive - we go there on average once a month.

Great service, food and drink, very accomodating as I need somewhere to work for a couple of hours with a power point. My only comment would be the ladies loos were not clean, which is why I dropped a star.

Ate in the bar as restaurant was full. Bar service was a bit slow, short staffed maybe? Had to ask to have our table cleared from previous people, but that was done quickly. Food turned up quickly and was nice. Self serve cutlery, sauces etc was a bit untidy and low on some items. All in all good experience but feel maybe a couple extra staff were needed to keep on top of everything. All the staff we did see were busy.

Popped in here for lunch yesterday while visiting Clarke's Shopping Village.On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady and shown to our table. We both had starters , mains and a drink. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Will definitely visit again next time we are in the area.

Good place to stay; only had one night. Room comfortable, breakfast was good value.

Lovely b&b. Very spacious rooms. Well appointed and parking available. Lovely freshly cooked great value breakfast with lots of options and freshly baked pastries particularly good. Home from home and will return.

Had a lovely few drinks at The Bear last week with food. It's got gastro pub vibes inside and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and personable - shout out to Eloise who was our server. Very polite and attentive without being intrusive. Poss one of the nicest places to go to in Street I'd say and will prob be my new go to for a nice meet up with friends!

Easy to book, lots of choice, good quality

Great place, delicious food, lovely outdoor space, the staff are friendly, plenty of parking. My kids enjoy the climbing frame. Space to bring dogs and very welcoming of dogs. Will be making this our regular!

Super evening at the Bear Inn. Really good atmosphere and ambience as a small group we had a splendid evening and meal and served by Ellen who was so delightful and efficient even hot our drinks brought to us later. The welcome from the staff and the atmosphere all added to an all round good time. Many thanks. Will be back in January hopefully do a stay in hotel on our visit too. Ruth

Leo and Tiana, provided great service overall good service from the other staff. All freindly and approachable staff. Fairly priced and a good aesthetic. (Didn’t have food so defaulted to 5 starts)

I paid way too much for the room I received I was placed in a twin room right above the noisy refrigerator sounds. The room was warm with only a fan, which didn't help much. The coffee bags are awful. Instant coffee tastes much better. The staff was friendly. The room was clean, and the breakfast was good. But I paid less for my stay before this place for a more comfortable room. The other guests slammed doors until well into morning hours. Like every half an hour. It wasn't a good restful experience for me at all. £120 for that is not worth it

The co workers couldn’t have been more accommodating. They took interest in our day and seemed genuinely interested in what we were saying. The food was okay- nothing stand out but overall we left satisfied. The Prosecco didn’t feel like it had been in the fridge for a long time which was soon remedied with some ice but would love to encourage a supply to be kept in a fridge in some volume (it’s just not the same if it’s not cold cold). Would we come again? Absolutely. I intend to bring my partner next time and stay a night or two in one of the rooms :)

This review would have been a one star and a result of me walking out if not for one of the waitresses at The Bear Inn. We arrived at 4:45pm and were seated by a young man on table 2. We waited until approx 5pm but no one had came to take our order. I ordered on the app so we could get some drinks, the availability of my drink was changed twice due to no stock. We waited until 5:30pm still waiting for someone to take our food order at this point I was about to walk out and go elsewhere. It wasn’t until a lovely lady who was waitressing came in to start her shift spotted us and immediately took care of us moving us to table 14 somewhere more comfortable and got our order out as soon as she could, amazing person to have at the bear inn and saved a £65 bill from walking out. She deserves all the praise, I think the young lad could use some retraining on customer service, he was pleasant enough to speak to just had no interest in looking after us. I’m happy to give the 4 stars completely because of that wonderful waitress who makes the atmosphere so hospitable.

Didn’t order food as wells there for a PTA meeting and just ordered drinks. But the staff were friendly and accommodating, and I find it always warm & cosy in there.

The welcome, food and atmosphere of the Bear Inn was exceptional as always. All members of staff dealt with where friendly, polite and courteous. Food was exceptional and no hassels when requesting items from the NGCI menu.

Most staff were very friendly although 1 member was unhelpful, locals very friendly too. Decor very nice but it was very hot inside. Great "bear" garden for the summer with a great kids playground. Food was below average apart from the kebab which was nice. Sausages weren't great. Kids burger tasted like a cheap frozen one. Skinny fries quite hard & dry so avoid those. Service a bit slow but they were busy so nobody's fault. Thanks to staff for their efforts but some of the foods need to be better quality for the price you're paying. The chefs are doing the best possible with the produce they're supplied with. Will try a different pub next time.
