Beedles Chippy Ltd in County Durham

Fish had obviously been cooked and left to stand for quite a while. Batter very hard, fish dry as we're the chips. Definitely not worth £9 per portion as charged.

If I could give no stars then that's where I'd be. Ordered food on the app at 16:30 with a delivery time of 17:40. Had to ring ul at 18:00to find out where thus order was, to be told that mine was next out. Had to ring up again at 18:25 to then be told that it was out for delivery, which was substantially delivered at 18:35 and upon checking my order it was short of one item. Tried ringing them again to complain only to have the phone put down on me. NOT AN IMPRESSED CUSTOMER 😕 😐

Fish and chips for 3, probably the worst we've had. The chips were pretty inedible, hard re-heats, just bits not full chips. Fish batter was rock hard, obviously re-heated and over cooked, fish itself was very dry, will never use this shop again. £27 for what should be a treat, totally unacceptable

Always use Beedles for fish and chips, never an issue. Sometimes there's a queue but if you are one of or the best you can expect it. This occasion served pretty quickly and food lovely. Portions good.

Watch out for the staff they will over change you ... Change you twice for one item..... Maybe a mistake 🤔😲🤔 who knows 🤔🤬😲 Some of the staff are really nice 👍 but who doesn't know the menu prices 😕 Cost me fifteen quid lol

1st time for along time we have used Beedles FISH & Chips Goooood.

Nice friendly staff can always have a laugh and a good chat while waiting and is the best fish and chips in Bishop Auckland highly recommend them

Been using this chip shop a very long time and its always been good portions and fresh cod, but the other nt I orderd 2 fish specials wich is 2 tiney fish 2 chips and 2 splashes of ur choice .when I got them the fish was as big as a half a slice of bread and the chips was a handfull .cost £16 what a joke ruined our tea the I will not be going again! Thats for shure..the fish was mushy inside no taste at all ...looks like the boss has made a lot of cut backs on quantity and quality so I will not be using it again!

Fabulous it's the Fish & Chip Shop I use.

This is the best Fish & Chip shop in our area, never had a bad meal or experience here, very reasonable price for a decent sized, perfectly cooked fish. Staff always polite & friendly too, thanks Beedle’s

1hr before closing time.. Giving away leftovers.. The worst F&C I can remember... This is Friday evening! Rubbery fish... HORRIBLE brown BURNT chips... I'm an occasional customer and this is the worst I've ever had. AND 9 quid a shot... Terrible. Go to Smith's West Auckland... Still as good as when Wayne and Les&Dorothy had it... I was too late to arrive tonight but never been served anything like tonight no matter how close to closing time.

Lost me as a customer now, won't be coming back, which is disappointing, even though it's a mediocre chip shop, it's still the best in the area. Guess I don't eat fish and chips anymore.

Had fish and chips couple weeks ago you can tell it's been there along time in the warmer.. definitely not fresh fish breaks up in bits it sounds like it's frozen fish been defrosted not even a full fish for what they charge..chips dry and warm like they've been there for along time as well..

Brilliant Fish & Chip shop, and the food was excellent.

We dined at home got delivery service, took bit longer due to busy time. To be honest I did call them to check where my order was, but it was 2 mins later delivery arrived. Fish n chips was spot on, we were so hungry they were so nice. We absolutely enjoyed them

We were going go to KFC but when went KFC there was awful smell outside this made me feel sickly. My husband decided we go to chippy instead went into Sainsbury's got some water. Best chippy in area. The meal was beautiful although we had it late on. Better than any KFC.

Always good ,a lot better than all the rest of the fish and chip shops around here, especially the one downtown that’s changed hands which used to be the best apart from Morley’s and the one on proudfoot The batter is always soft and crispy instead of rockhard The only negative feedback I have with them is when I ask for batter bits on delivery they always forget!!!

Food was absolutely disgusting fish over cooked and had bones in and chips weren’t warm had them 7th july 2023 if not careful u won’t have any customers was like the fish had been cooked and left for ages 😡

Absolutely Awful service. Delivery just didn't happen after 2 hours of waiting and had obnoxious employee on end of the phone attempting to justify their position. DO NOT USE AND AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE !!!!!!

I am a customer of this chippy for over 30 years and can honestly say it is normally without fault, but this time it just wasnt the same. The fish was nice, not amazing, but the chips were horrible, tasted burnt, and maybe like they had been standing in the hot plate for a while. My wife and I got these delivered, like we normally do and we dont mind the cost because normally the quality is there. Its a shame that it is not as reliable as it once was

Although the food can be nice, some of the staff (not all because some are amazing) make the service outweigh the quality of food. Especially at the busiest of times. Better options available elsewhere.

Everything came cold again , gave them 2 chances , all you get is it was cooked fresh. In my 20yrs of being a customer I have had enough of it, £20 wasted.

We ordered a delivery for 6.50 which arrived after a phone call at 7.25.Cod and chips for 2 costing £17.00 and it was cold.Very disappointed as we have decided now not to use again.Poor for the costs

Me and my partner call here now and then when passing always been superb food and service but today I can say the food was great as always but the service we got from a Lady called Sue was absolutely appalling she was rude, snappy and somewhat aggressive in her manner when serving my partner I don’t often leave reviews but on this occasion felt compelled too.

Potato inside fish Pattie was black, could not eat it. Lovely when this shop was at Chilton, what a disappointment. Will not go again

Ordered Haddock Chips x2 with curry sauce and mushy peas. Order arrived with 50% of the order missing, however after 2 phone calls later Beedle’s re delivered the full order again, (well done). 3 stars given due to the lack of due diligence when packing the order.

The lightly batteted fish was excellent. My 98 year old mum really enjoyed the meal

Freshly cooked fish and a good portion of chips...highly recommend

I ordered small fish and chips at 11.15 am. I was the only person in the shop and the order was cooked for me. The shop was spotless and the two ladies soon placed my order on several sheets of paper. i spread some salt and vinegar on the order then sat in the corner of the shop to eat my meal. The meal was perfect. The chips were soft and tasty with very few small crumbs. The flaky fish was in crisp batter and full of flavour. I asked the ladies if they would dispose of the wrapping paper. They quickly obliged. I will certainly call again at this chippy.

Friendly staff, clean shop, however my fish was cooked to order, as you can see from picture batter was thick and soggy, yes it was crisp on outside. Did not enjoy, visited today.

Stopped off on the way back from Beamish. Went on the reviews & so glad we did. Food cooked to perfection , tasty & great choice. Had 2 cod n chips & a smoked sausage. Excellent. Also nice friendly staff.

Cracking place love the fish bites

Advertised as closed at 9pm went at 8.20 pm to be told nothing left we arnt putting anything else in waste of space

Used googled to find this place as we were camping in Bolam and this place was top result. The fish was beautiful, chips nothing special, but what I didn't expect to receive was attitude by the the female with black hair, attitude must come for free as it wasn't in the cost. I simply asked, as I always do, whenever I go to a chippy for a fresh large cod to be put on, the response I got was 'They have just come out' they clearly hadn't. I responded by saying 'Have they' this is when I got the attitude. Will not be back for this simple reason, the best form of advertisment either positive or negative is word of mouth and I would not recommend this place.

Not a great experience. Food was 30mins late and came on the colder side of warm. Found a huge fish bone in my daughters kids fish bite meal. Won't be back I'm afraid

I have to admit this has to be one of the nicest fish and chip shops in the county Durham area as the food is never over cooked and well I am satisfied every time I go as this is also my regular fish and chip shop.

Our new chippy. Placed an order via their website. Was waiting awhile (it was Friday, dinnertime, and the roads were snowy/frozen). Before we could call to check Beedle's phoned us to apologise for the wait and update us on when to expect our order. Then, when the food arrived it was, hands down, the best fish and chips we'd had since moving to England 3 years ago. Fantastic customer service and drool-worthy food? Yeah, we won't be going anywhere else.
