We all had an amazing time celebrating my sister’s birthday. This was a family lunch & the staff were super friendly, the food was delicious and there was such a lovely atmosphere. We would highly recommend this gem of a pub to everyone!

Had a recent visit with family. We were a large group but food all came out at a decent time and was good and the staff were all lovely. Would happily go again.

My partner and l ordered a normal size and a small roast beef dinner. The waitress came and asked if everything was satisfactory after having eaten two mouthfuls. Mine, the smaller dish had one slice of beef, which l expected, but it was riddled with gristle. Uneatable. The brocoli was too hard to cut. Very disappointing and unacceptable. My partner's meal was no better, out of two slices of meat, he managed to extract maybe one slice which was edible. His brocoli was similarly, too hard, his cauliflower was warmed up and burnt, his carrots overcooked. We informed a waitress, who called her manager, who said beef always had gristle in it. Surely not the whole slice!!. She was very unhelpful . She offered us two free cups of coffee, which we declined. We paid the bill and left, very disappointed. We had a similar experience a couple of weeks before, but thought we would give them another chance. We will not be returning. It is a shame because we have frequented this pub quite a lot. We will warn our friends.

Amazing service, great food, team really friendly and is really rare seeing people working amazingly as a team and enjoying what they do! Well done team !

Visited yesterday with family. Got served straight away. Didn't take long for food to come. Food was lovely. I had Turkey roast, my husband had the beef and ale pie and my daughter had mac n cheese. Everything was lovely and hot, very tasty. Would recommend a visit 10/10

Very few (v. small) prawns (no king sized) in the risotto Pie = virtually no meat but lots of gravy!!!! Unruly small children = parents not keeping their children under control Don't waste your money

After leaving my job back in the summer, I wanted somewhere I could meet up with my old workmates. The Bell did not disappoint and everyone commented how nice it was. We were a mixed party of some dining and some drinking but the landlord gave us a designated area where we could all sit and chat. The food as always was delicious. Thank you to all the team for a lovely evening.

We came here for a 70th birthday meal. The staff were very helpful and the food was fantastic.

10/10. Fantastic food for unbelievably good prices. £12 for a MASSIVE burger and fries with a couple of onion rings and a fresh salad ,plus a pint!! Only a fool would complain and it would be foolish not to leave a compliment. Super attentive staff,with lots of smiles, who will go above and beyond to make sure that your visit to the bell is a positive experience enjoyed by all who frequent this establishment. Dominica and Courtney,front of house, both deserve a pay rise as they are a credit to the hospitality industry. Well done! Family lunch for my birthday with all the kids and grandkids. My daughter did book in advance so we had a corner of the pub to ourselves. Sunday lunches, kids specials and good pub fayre! 15 adults and 8 children! Absolutely brilliant service and the food was excellent. The kids ate everything that was put in front of them. Thank you!

Family booked a table for birthday was a bit disappointing The food portions were small. Lamb shank was over cooked and dry, fish batter was over done The mixed grill was very small sausage was not very nice. The pub was empty no atmosphere at all.

A local pub literally steps from our residence for the week! Had a delicious fish ciabatta and skin-on rosemary chips. Very nice, run by a few young folks.

Hunters chicken is very dry with over melted hard cheese on a very small portion. Gammon streak was tough and hard to cut and dry

Large garden, what a lovely pub, loads of dining space and good choice of ales, lagers. The steak and ale pie was to die for, best pub pie I’ve had with mash and broccoli. Very big pie and loads gravy, my wife had risotto which she enjoyed, very varied menu, senior citizens 2 course offer, a lovely pub thank you

We booked as it was a Friday evening. It was fairly busy with young families. We were shown to a booth type table for four as our original table for two had been given away. The menu is well priced, and has some unusual items. We started with sun dried Arancini with pesto. It was generous and very tasty. My main was a Prawn and chorizo risotto. Again, tasted delicious. My Husband had steak and chips. It was cooked very well. We shared an Eton mess type sundae. The staff were all very young and were buzzing around serving, but friendly and willing to help with our orders. Lovely decor and clean toilets. Would go back if returning to nearby campsite.

Bunk fest weekend, went to the Bell twice. 1st visit had lunch 8 of us, lovely food, sat outside under the wooden canopy, great seating for us all. Sunday lunch, booked for 13 of us, sat inside, good selection of meats, very nice food again. Very clean, large pub/restraunt. Good selection of ales. Friendly helpful staff. Would recommend. Came in only because it seemed to be the only pub with a car park. Will be coming back tomorrow as we’re on holiday at Benson. Good size meals and a welcome staff. Food was very good too.

i have noticed that the staff aren’t so kindly to each other and neglect their employees feelings. when observing the staff they seem glum and unhappy. maybe try be nice to each other and smile

UPDATE, since my last review, which imo was poor alround. Went on bank holiday Monday 26 August 24, Service was excellent and the food was much much better,100 times better alround experience. Tryed to add it on to the previous review, so people could see how much of an improvement has been made since the last review, but it just reposted the old one. My only slight negative point is, why dont you except blue light card on a bank holiday? Seems abit strange.

Historically a Hungry Horse where it was hard to know what was about to be delivered from the kitchen, and the carpet was stickier than a sticky toffee pudding, The Bell has been transformed to a lovely, understated restaurant with a team looking to make every visit a joy. My family arrived today unannounced, but a table was conjoured up. I've always been a bit let down with the traditional pub Sunday roast, but with the addition of pigs in blankets, I'm left wondering if a home cooked roast is worth the hassle. Professional but unobtrusive staff and beautiful setting with lots of outdoor seating, along with a play area for the smaller guests. As long as nothing changes, The Bell will be on our list for any occasion. Thanks to all the staff.

Had a lovely lunch with family and we all were impressed with the whole experience. Welcoming staff, lovely clean restaurant area and the food was delicious. Our 3 year old granddaughter chomped through her kids meal ( fish fingers, chips and beans) and the chocolate ice cream was a big hit. Will definitely be back again. Thank you to all the staff who made an impromptu lunch so enjoyable

Very disappointing meal. We ate on a Tuesday so the pub was quite quiet, with most people out enjoying drinks in the garden. The staff were friendly and welcoming but the food was dreadful. My chicken tasted ok, but the portion was tiny. My husband, who is vegetarian was served a chicken pie - which was so tasteless he had eaten some of it before realising it was meat! My mother in law's lasagne had been cremated in the microwave and the bread was like a rock. In fairness the waitress offered a replacement but we said it was ok- only to realise quite how bad it was when halfway through. They also swapped the bread for chips and gave us a free dessert. So, in summary- a young staff team trying their best but clearly the chef was having a very bad day.

Lovely little pub. Great atmosphere inside and very welcoming. Food here is great and has a nice variety. Would definitely recommend the mac and cheese. Will definitely be coming back :)

Wanted to find somewhere to enjoy a meal and let our child play as quite a few places have gotten rid of the play equipment for children. The Bell was great. Play area is in the shade, so are some of the tables. It was a brilliant meal. Staff were so friendly and even though it was a hot day, staff didn’t let it bother them. Garden is beautiful. Great place to sit and enjoy a nice drink. This pub is a winner

Another visit to The Bell and another excellent review. Lovely pub with fantastic staff, very welcoming and so polite. Superb service and delicious meals, great value for money and the pictures just show how good the meals were, empty plates at the end. Clean and very well kept pub and the staff show pride in their job and the place, goes a very long way and certainly shows. Will be returning again and recommend to others. Further to several previous reviews Anne and I feel very fortunate that a Family member recommended the Bell some 18 months ago, and we have enjoyed visiting virtually very 3 weeks since then. Last Thursday we were looked after by Richard, Steve and Emmy together with the kitchen Staff who prepared a delicious "Senior Menu" lunch. Always a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere, and we are looking forward to our next visit. Very sincerely Michael.

Jun 2024 • Family Simply amazing! From the lovely welcome on our arrival and then seated at lovely table, friendly and polite waiters and then delicious meals when they arrived, credit to the chef. A very clean and well cared for pub with good parking too, will certainly recommend and be returning again. Thank you and credit to all the team.

First time visiting this quaint country pub, and it was lovely, food was excellent and the staff were very professional, friendly and efficient. My only gripe, would be that my totally delicious roast could've been a little hotter. That having been said, I will most definitely visit again when I'm next visiting my family in the area.

First choice to celebrate a 100th birthday. Friendly emails arranging food choices and everything was served once we had sat down and as usual the food was of a high standard. Everyone was really pleased with our choice of pub. It is a usual haunt for us as it is so welcoming and the staff work hard to make everyone welcome. Katsu Chicken is amazing by the way!

A mixed family group, including small children. Extremely patient waiter established our food order. Food reasonably priced, a great lunchtime find. The previous experience was an excellent Sunday lunch. Definitely repeating the experience.

Had dinner here yesterday for my birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. Prosecco in the huge garden, then beautiful freshly cooked food inside. Booking a table is recommended though. We’ll be back 😊

Very tasty food, lamb shank was in point and the Guinness was equally on point. Partner had the Chicken and Ham hock pie, heard that was also good. Very polite servers. Definitely be returning.

Very impressed with the cleanliness , spacious dining areas and neat beer garden and covered space outside . Even the chairs were comfortable . The seniors menu offers incredible value for money and the other menus on offer provide a very wide choice of dining . The staff were attentive and accomodating . The food was well cooked and presented . One of the best experiences eating out we have had in years . Attention to every detail is rarely found in this day and age of burgers and microwaves . Congratulations to the Bell .

4th visit at this lovely restaurant to meet up with family who live nearby. Just had Sunday lunch and drinks. Food was great, service fantastic as usual and really good value for money. Definitely worth a visit. We will be back again soon.

Not very good quality off food quick and easy

We come here near every Saturday, today the steaks where fantastic, I would of rated this visit a 5 star, but the side door by table 29 was so annoying by people coming in and out it was closing so loudly and shaking our table making us jump every minute or so

Second visit this week. Tuesday was truly excellent so very hard to follow.....well tonight was also superb. We arrived with my wife in the middle of an asthma cough, no fuss, no bother, a member of staff simply handed her a glass of water. Now that is service. We ordered drinks from a very polite young woman, then ordered Mac'n'cheese and Katsu Chicken, ok, it was Steak Night but we had Steak on Tuesday.....both arrived in good time, both tasty, hot, and plentiful. Dessert was pannacotta, nice wobble and flavour. The ambience is good, the place was buzzing, the staff universally calm and friendly. A really great experience.

Duck or Grouse, I learnt to duck the hard way 🤣 beautiful old pub so traditional low ceilings so watch your head if you're tall like me and forget to duck Beautiful location, great ale that was well kept. Lovely food and atmosphere. Well worth a visit ❤️

Utterly utterly superb. Honestly, if all Greene King were like this they would really be world leaders! We went quite early, just about 6pm and were just looking for something to eat, no expectations. After a very warm welcome things went from good to excellent. Halloumi fries, then rump steaks with peppercorn sauce finishing with fruit crumble. Every bite, really truly, was excellent. Hot tasty and generous, AND, staff top notch. What a team. Thank you. Believe me, go there.

This is a really nice pub. It has a lovely cosy atmosphere and a good choice of wines and beers. The food menu has a range of dishes to choose from, the prices are very reasonable and the food is excellent.

I booked a table arrived in time as we thought to have a drink and then sit and enjoy our food, was gob smacked at being told we were 15min early and couldn't order drinks till we were seated at our table, really, what is going on green king what away to treat people, shall think twice about going back there.

A lovely old pub which has been modernised sympathetically. Staff were friendly . Prices were average for the area. Would i return? Definitely!

The building decor had a recent renovation and looks great. There is low headroom around the bar area so you might have a different experience if you're above average height. We had a business meal for a group of 3. The food was amazing, good service and excellent value for money. I ordered the Salmon Vintage Cheddar Fishcakes and my colleagues ordered the Katsu Chicken and King Prawn Chorizo Risotto. Will definately stop by again this week while we are here.

We were staying at Benson Waterfront for a few days over new year and fancied some 'pub grub'. I found this lovely pub with parking quickly online then we headed out. This is the nicests greene king we've ever been to! Food was absolutely lovely, not greasy at all. Great service and lovely atmosphere. Love menu, would recommend to everybody!

Went New years Eve. Lovely food service was Excellent. All staff very friendly. 100% would go back again.

Excellent meal, I had the Lamb Shank, my partner had roast Turkey, we both enjoyed the meal. Very economical combined with great service from friendly staff.

Lovely food, we're vegan it's a shame they only had a couple or three options. The staff are friendly and the service was good.

Had a lovely rump steak here, which was the first steak I'd had in quite a while. It was cooked just to my liking. Steak night is Thursday here. Unfortunately they wouldn't accept my Greene King paper card for every sixth pint of Greene King ale free, but this is a minor point and no reflection on the food or venue itself.

Stopped for a coffee in the morning. Friendly, good service, good coffee. Clean establishment.

We’re staying locally for the week from South Wales and we thought we’d pop by this establishment, the pub is beautiful inside and out, ample free parking, lovely outdoor seating area and the inside is beautifully kept, it’s clean and modern. Great drink selection too! Food was nice and good value for money, my steak was a little tough although the gentleman did offer a replacement if required. Overall lovely service, the manager/owner was on his toes, here, there and everywhere! And provided a great service! We’d certainly return next time we’re in the area :) thanks for having us!
