Got fish and chips for me n my wife to take away seemed nice but woke up in the middle of the night crippled with h belly pain it was coming out both ends thought it was just me but now the wife is in the same situation absolutely no good like

Ordered fish combo & cod half salad half chips… still prefer cod fish

1st visit, and won't be our last. Top notch food and service. Not the cheapest, but still good value for money and big portions. The half chips and half salad is a great idea with the fish and chips, but still of belly- bulging proportions !

This is a very nice small restaurant for fish and chips. Very clean and has a nice welcoming atmosphere. Fish and chips really nice and you can have half salad half chips if you like and the salad is great not just a basic salad. Pots of tea included with your meal price 😋. Staff have always been nice and freindly with good service. Very nice.

Twice in 2 days we tried to get into this restaurant only to find it closed . A fish n chip restaurant that closes at teatime can only mean it isn't getting the customers so we shan't be trying again.

I got their fish and chips twice with curry sauce it was so good. The staff are very friendly.

Lovely clean restaurant. Staff very attentive & pleasant. Food was absolutely delicious. Steak pie was full of meat & very tasty. My daughter had scampi with salad & chips. The salad was different, very fresh & with the dressing in a small bowl, exactly how it should be served. Well worth the money & cheap for what we got. Highly recommended.

Service and food great but really should not say they close at 8 when it's 7.30 and they are not open ?????

Unfortunately we were the only ones in the restaurant, which was quite uncomfortable. The server didn’t have anything to do and was just stood waiting for us to finish eating, which was unpleasant. The food was very expensive. It was ok, quite average. I wouldn’t visit again.

Popped in here for lunch with my husband on the 25/7/24 I'm not a massive fan of chips but I do like fish. My husband got haddock and chip and I got haddock and salad. (I know who gets salad lol) My husband enjoyed his food unlike me. The fish was lovely but the salad has black dead leaves in. I sent it back and got a fresh salad and fish. Again the lettuce was the same, this time I ate the fish as my husband finished his food. When they came for the plates I explained the salad was inedible. I was told that it was fresh today and they will have to contact the provider. They took the salad off my bill. I was not given a apology I won't be back. Especially after all the ecoli around salad leaves.

After visiting Bells many times my last visit will be my last. The service was 😖. The chips served with my meal were inedible. I requested a fresh portion and was told "They would just be the same". And they were😒. On contacting Donna at HO I was told my complaint would be looked into. I finally had a call from a young lady as Donna was on leave .She said the member of staff that served us was no longer with the company. She said she would like to keep my custom and offered me a "free portion of chips" on my next visit.🤣 Needless to say I will not be returning to take up this offer. Total lack of customer service. There should be 0 stars. Not worth 1.😕

First time eating here, lovely staff, amazing food and a lush outdoor seating area in the hot sun perfect date defo won't b the last time! Seriously well done on the scampi and chips found my new fave place!

Had fish and chips from this restaurant they were unbelievable Excellent Cooked the fish when you order so you know it's fresh Chips were lovely also curry sauce as well.Someone collected them for me .And they were still hot when I received them I would recommend this fish and Chips restaurant 10 out 10 for me. Disappointed today . Was not busy so can't understand why we had to go and ask for our desert and go back to pay . No mints offered ( but had been offered to other people. )

Used to be a a lovely golden batter, very disappointed yesterday, batter looked burnt and chips were just lukewarm, price goes up approximately 50p every couple of months, lost its value for money.

One of the best fish n chips in UK

Bells Team Valley we went today a fish and Chip tea. We were very disappointed with it all, Fish was very dry had no taste at all, mushy peas were so dry and chips were all hard and end bit. Would not recommend going to that one this Easter. We wont be back that's for sure what a waste of money!

Great service fabulous meal served. I love the fish and chips served, allergens questions asked before placing orders. A lovely lady attended us. Very polite courteous and patient. Will definitely go back again.

Got a take away of chips only. Large amount. Very dry resembled eating cardboard. It was late in the afternoon. I won’t buy from here again as despite the poor quality of the chips they were very expensive.

Took my mum for her 74th birthday (14th March 2024). When we arrived we noticed it was quite cold, this was because of the air conditioning. We both got hot drinks which both quickly went cold because of the temperature in the restaurant. When our food came, the quality was shocking, especially for the price point. The batter on the fish was soggy, and the chips looked like they had been re-cooked. Again, because of how cold the restaurant was, the food went cold really quickly. My mum has dementia and eats quite slowly therefore, I asked the waitress if she could box the fish to takeaway. When asked if we wanted the chips boxing, I said no as they looked like scraps and as I have already said, looked like they had been re-cooked. When the waitress returned with the bill, I asked where the fish was, to which she replied she had binned it. I was understandably not happy to hear this, to which I explained that I did not want to pay for 1 of the meals as the fish had been binned and my mum had hardly eaten any of the chips due to her not liking them, as they were rock solid. The waitress then called over the manager who I believe was called Natalie. I explained the situation to Natalie who informed me that I would have to pay for the fish and chips, and told us if we left she would call the police. Let’s say that there were other customers present and she didn’t exactly talk quietly, which was quite frankly the most embarrassed I’ve ever been as a customer. I could have understood had I have been refusing to pay for everything, but I was quite happy to pay for my food and the hot drinks, and had the waitress had returned the fish in a takeaway box, there would have been no issue. I can quite frankly say I will never return here and I have only given 1 star, as there isn’t an option to leave 0. We have all experienced bad food before however, I do not think I have ever experienced such bad customer service and made to feel as bad as I did.

Having worked for Harry Ramsdens for 20 something years I appreciate good quality fish and chips, this place (excuse the pun) was recommended by a friend & although a bit expensive (only get what you pay for) it was absolutely delicious in every way, superb, will definitely be back thankyou 😊

Usually the food here is really great - though the service is usually quite sub par. However, having gotten fish and chips twice over the last week, all I can say is that Bell's has gone down hill. Soggy, greasy fish - the girl on the phone had an awful attitude, it felt as if we were inconveniencing her by placing the order. When we finally arrived up pick up our order, the boxes were soft to the point I thought they were actually going to fell apart - the food was sodden with grease. Not to mention that we were majorly overcharged - £38 cod, two battered sausages and 3 portions of chips? I'm so disappointed, because for the past 3/4 years this place has been the best chip shop around. Guess it's time to switch things up 🤷‍♂️

Seevice I s shocking!! You wait forever to order t hen wait forever for food. Haven't a clue!

Went with family on Saturday 2nd December at around 2pm. Nothing against the food but the service was shocking. Asked for sugar for the latte asked to keep the tub got told no put some sugar down and when we asked for some more got asked if I was joking and for real and threw some extra at the table. Seen at least another 2 tables leave before ordering with the attitude of the member of staff. Has put us off ever returning.

Always had great food here, but today the service in restaurant was disgraceful, totally empty no staff there when we arrived so sat at corner table, when staff came in, wanted us to move to table with 2 seats, wasnt suited when we wouldn't, snatched spare cutlery off table, so we left!!!! Wont be going back to team valley.

Why haven't we been here before?! Husband and I went this afternoon, gorgeous mussels, gorgeous cod. The chips are lush. Batter light on cod-no horrible grease. Interior is great, prices are too. Staff are brilliant. Lovely place, so filling, we didn't have tea!!!!

Best F&C's for a while!!! Very good welcome from the staff, helpful with the wheelchair and seating. The portions are generous, very tasty and well presented. Salad option was unusual but worked well. The place was spotless. Weelll be baaack!!!

The food was very good but the poor lady serving was run off her feet. If she was a normal waitress, we would be still in the shop. The waitresses name was.... "Joanne", she was faultless, friendly and very helpful. 10/10.

I work on the Team Valley and have been using Bells Fish shop for a long time, yesterday Thurs 20th July 23 l ordered Fish and Chips, on arriving back at my office l could not believe what l had been given as a fish, it was 6/7 inches long and no thicker than 3/4 of an inch, l was back in the shop today and mentioned the previous days fish, l was told to phone head office and let them know, on doing this l then received a call from the Manager of the Team Valley shop, this person is the most patronising soul I've ever heard, some of hear questions as follows Did you photograph the fish. All our fish are the same weight so it could not be small. What day and exact time we're you in. What did you order. I clearly explained to this person when l go to a fish and chip shop and order my lunch l do not take wedding photos of the fish it is there to be eaten, she continued to speak to me like a child and not once offered to reconcile the situation or apologise on behalf of the shop, so now no one in the office will be back to that shop, there are 6 people in our office who before today used Bells everyday accumulating in a lot of money, needless to say no more, l hope someone in higher Management reads this review and certainly acts as to why this person speaks to customers the way she does, also by the way this shop is not cheap, £8 for what was no bigger than two fish fingers, Disgrace.

Excellent fish and chips, didn't have to wait long. Not a scrap of food left on our plates it was so delicious! Would highly recommend.

Went to team Valley with friends after driving up from Liverpool, arrived before 6.30 to be told we couldn't order food, I explained to the lady on the takeaway counter and she spoke to another lady who would not budge, if she keeps turning people away your going to lose customers because of your bad attitude.update....the place is closed down now ☺️☺️☺️😊😊😊

just 2 stars from me , food is ok, the problem is they dont deliver could easily use just eat or uber, everytime i send e mail bout this its not answered, so now use Dhillons golden fry, best fisn chips going fried in beef dripping

Lovely food, but also such impressive service. The two ladies serving today,Joanne and Ali, have been absolute whirlwinds, making sure everyone is kept happy even when it's been at its busiest and they were both incredibly friendly and polite. It was a whim to call in, but I am so pleased I did. Some of the best service I've had. Thank you ladies.

Lovely food at a good price, staff are really nice & friendly and working extremely hard. We visited last Saturday for a sit in meal and it was packed but lasses handled it great especially for only having started four days earlier!

Took my mother here for her lunch she thoroughly enjoyed her cod and chips. Portions were big. I had haddock with salad it was good.. The salad was really nice a good mix. The staff were very friendly.

Right on my works door step and is always a decent place to go with mates from work to get dinner time scran! Fish and chips comes in a box and is a really decent size meal! Well worth it for the money.

Hidden gem well worth a visit ✨️

My wife my self and our 4 week old baby called in to get fish and chips and to give the baby a feed. My wife loves Costa hot chocolate so grabbed on next door before we went in. The moment we sat down we were accosted and told the hot chocolate could not be consumed on the premises. I tired to explain that we were both going to order main meals and that my wife had just grabbed it to takeaway from next door. At this point the waitress got an attitude and repeated her previous statement. So we said no problem and got up and started to leave. She seemed shocked but did not try to rectify the situation. We did think it was unusual that it was completely empty when we walked in, Now it all makes sense. We’ll never know if the food was any good. I would avoid at all costs!!!

Amazing food! They serve Gluten Free Fish and Chips!! But not only fish and chips but they serve anything that has batter on just Gluten Free! This place is a must if you want to chill and enjoy your meal. I have already been 3 times. It's soooo good.

Came into get fish and chips today and food was ok seemed a little overpriced but was ok. However the customer service was terrible we seen around 5 tables leave after waiting for their order to be taken. I was told that there a new starter today that's why things "where slower than normal". So understandable Waited what seemed like a lifetime for my daughters ice cream to arrive to top things off. However will try again. Food 7/10 Price 6/10 Service 3/10 will update when I try this again as I feel this may be a little unfair given the new starter.

When I come from Oxford I always come to Bell's Fish and Chips. Batter is so crispy and service is excellent

Had the scampi and chips. Food very nice, lovely setting, reasonably priced. Can't fault, would go again.

Forgot how rude the waitress is here. 2nd visit same both times. They offer pan fried fish on the menu, and 3 months after our last visit, they still haven't managed to buy a frying pan. Advertised with bread and butter, which never came, but by that time couldn't be bothered with the waitress anymore so ate and left. Certainly not a patch on the Bells in Arnison centre or Durham Town centre.

Upon entry you are greeted with a pristine dining environment and a friendly waiter ready to seat you. There's a wide array of beverages to choose from to suit everyone and anyone perfect to compliment the legendary cuisine that is to come. I ordered cod and chips with a side of onion rings. The onion rings were the best I'd ever consumed and the cod was perfect, better than even Whitby bay. You're in for a real treat in this establishment. Prepare to be amazed by the dining experience.

Expensive and you order and they say you have bread with the meals but it never materialise and you wait so long for it to arrive you forget bread was supposed to be included service is poor and slow 🐌 😠 but it's the only alternative to McDonald's so you're stuck if you're hungry

Gone downhill recently. I used to go here regularly but the last 3 times I’ve been I was quite disappointed. Waited 20 minutes for fish bites then was charged £3.40 for a chip butty with about 20 chips!

Gorgeous fish snd chips, had a little bit of a wait as short staffed but not a problem, and definitely worth the wait.will definitely visit again.

I've visited this restaurant on at least a dozen times however on my last visit it's seems on the small cod the fillets are getting thinner I don't know wether that's to entice you to the larger one or its a cut back but for the first I didn't feel I was getting value for money sadly

Excellent fish and chips, cooked fresh when ordered only waited about 5 minutes. Fish was perfect, batter was proper batter, crospy , not gooey inside. Good portion. Definately recommend. Reasonably priced too.

Quality but getting more & more expensive every other week

Absolute joke of a place stood in que for 15mins and waited patiently while they served 3 people! Yes 15mins for 3 peoples orders! Then after that the girl said we’re not taken orders for abit cos they want help in the back. Stupid me has been going to the place 2 times a week before this!

What a lovely pleasant man on the till that served us on the takeaway bit had to complain about food as the fish was like rubber which wasn’t his fault but he still handlers it really well

Been a while since I had Fish and Chips so visited my favourite chippy, what a let down chips had a slightly bitter taste and were lukewarm when I got home (10mins ) never had a problem in the past, and batter was undercooked, The fish and chips used to have a greaseproof paper separating them from the box, this has now been dispensed with now so the y have picked of a slight trace of cardboard to taste. For the price, defo not value for money. Will be a while before I return if ever I do,

Nice, clean venue with lovely staff. Had a salad instead of chips which was beautifully presented. All freshly prepared.

First time I been there with my children, we enjoyed the cod Chunks and onion ring ,we will be back
