Discovered this gem after living in Spennymoor for over 6years! Ordered afternoon tea, just under £8 each it was amazing value for money. Generous sized portions per person, everything tasted delicious and freshly homemade. Presented beautifully which made it even more special as a lockdown birthday treat. The counter display looked amazing, I will definitely be visiting again. Only thing to note if you were after a traditional afternoon tea was that there were no scones. Didn’t bother us as there was plenty to eat and I only realised afterwards! I’m sure they’d be able to accommodate whatever you wanted. Staff were all lovely. Highly recommend Bernie’s.

Called today to collect Afternoon Tea and it was fabulous. A good selection of both savoury and sweet which was beautifully presented and all fresh. Would definitely recommend this. Excellent value for money.

Called in today and bought two jacket potatoes with chicken fajita filling, plus salad. The potato was perfectly cooked, the salad was fresh and crisp and the chicken had just the right amount of spicy sauce. A perfect lunch on a cold wet day!

I love the buns from here make great bacon sandwiches. The rock cakes are great and my son loves the sausage rolls.

New to the area same as us. What a gem absolutely lovely cakes and pastries at a reasonable price. Better quality than supermarkets and the personal service is fabulous.

Ordered afternoon tea to collect and wow, what can I say!? Absolutely beautiful fresh sandwiches, fantastic home made cakes, presented in a lovely container with a lovely huge pink ribbon and bow! This was tremendous value at only £6.00pp! They are open 8.30am to 2.00pm Mon to Sat

I visited here recently for a bite to eat.Fantastic home made savouries and cakes, lovely friendly staff, 5 star hygiene rating, bespoke celebration cakes and buffets, at extremely competitive prices. I will make this my new gobtonbakery for sandwiches, pies pasties and cakes, oh and they do a great range of fresh bread. If I'd been more hungry, I'd have tried the mince and dumplings which looked delicious. Give it a try if you're in the area.
