This is my local chip shop. Food is always plentiful and hot. Staff alway happy and polite.

Excellent fish and chips, for which customers come from a wide area. We are lucky to live so close! The mushy peas are a bit too mushy, so we buy a tin, but that's a very small negative.

Generally the store staff are pleasant and efficient, the Haddock Fish meal i purchased on Friday the 29th was the best i have had from Best Fry

Still the best and most consistent chippy in the West End area, I’ve never had a bad takeaway from them. I like how they have lots of different offers and also a good variety of choices for everyone. The service is always great as the staff are friendly and welcoming.

Been going for a few years ,definitely the best fish and chip shop in the area. They do monthly specials which are good value and very tasty.

Fresh food everything, need to wait, but rather wait so it hot and fresh, staff have always been Polite, not liking the Nail Vanish but I guess tongs and chip Scoop are always used, still good service and 100% 5 star 🌟

Wow,can't fault it ,beautiful white meat cooked to perfection in crispy batter, when they say a large Cod they mean it,also no black skin or bones and served with a very generous portion of chip's, we have recently moved a good bit further away,but still travel back to the best chippy in Southampton 5/5

Tried twice going here, first time my wife was unwell after eating from here as it was just so greasy. Left It a long time till this Friday was passing by and thought I’d pop in to get something as it was on my way home. Again the fish was so oily and greasy, felt awful all weekend because of it, seem like nice people but I certainly wouldn’t recommend

As always John cooked great fish and chips and the price is reasonable , but most important is how consistently good the food is. Also VIP is great cannot wait for January 99p menus

Was gobsmacked by the price of 2xlarge fish and large sausage in batter and large chips over £31 POUND thought it would have been amazing but no very greasey fish and not even that big very disappointed for the price had far better and cheaper

Whilst coming home from a hospital appointment I called into the Westend chippy to claim my free fish and chips you see you get a card off them every time you buy a meal they stamp your card and in no time when your card is full your meal is free like me today so you might say just what the Doctor ordered sorry about that pun anyway my meal was really good I’ll be back soon.

Really delicious food. Their sauces are made in-house and they have an amazing secret chip seasoning that rivals chicken salt! Amazing customer service with really passionate staff. The store itself is also really clean.

Really friendly good quality food

Large chips would feed 4 - shame it's quantity over quality. Battered sausages only just warm, decent batter though. Pea fritter cooked to order was still cold in the middle. Our second visit as we decided to chance after a not wonderful first. Won't be trying for 3rd time lucky

Staff are not particularly friendly and the food was very poor value for money. I have never experienced this before, normally with other fish & chip shops the portions are huge.

I just wanted to start my review by saying thank you! Mark and Linda are off to college now and coming to best fry and seeing the workers smiling faces is helping me get through the change, not to mention the delicious food which is the best in england. People should flock to best fry because they serve the best fries 😆. I love the renovations done to this place and I come nearly every day! I feel the Christmas spirit because your shop is so beautiful. this is a beautiful organisation and I wouldn't be surprised if Best Fry becomes a franchise, ITS SO YUMMY!!!!! I'm widowed now, however, me and Babishkno used to come here all the time when we were married. coming here now makes me think back on the memorys me and Babi had. this is a beautiful shop and I hope it stays forever.

Plenty of chips but very thin on the fish and thick on the batter.

Friendly Staff, Fish and Chips were absolutely amazing my wife had the Bestfry Deluxe which was one of the best burgers she’s had in ages! Highly recommended!

The time before we used this place we were shortchanged a bag of large chips. These were replaced on our next visit. On our next visit we ordered 1 large and 1 small chips together with a fish and sausage and ended up with the chips being the same size! Please check the contents of your order before you leave the premises.

This is a cracking local fish and chips with a good loyalty card. The only negative comment I have is the quality of the chips, they always seem bitty and full of broken ends. It's quite rare to find nice long thick cut chips here.

First class fish and chips takeaway supper. Battered cod was beautiful, freshly cooked with crisp batter and moist fish. Lady server was cheerful and efficient.

The lady that served me noticed my uniform and advised that I would get a 5% discount with a blue light card. I ordered a small fish and chips with a can of Lucozade. It only cost £7.59 and the fish and chips was delicious, one of the best that I have tasted!

Ordered around £40 worth of fish and chips for the family and got home to find im missing a large set of chips... Tried calling them and no one answers!

Really disappointed with the overall service and food that we received. Absolutely shocking prices for so little food! And the food wasn’t even nice. Tasted stale, so didn’t end up eating the little amount we did receive. Customer service is not good. I tried to message them twice with my query and to inform them that I was not happy, they have seen the messages but are choosing not to respond. Seeing some on the most recent reviews on here and on other platforms….it’s really going down hill. Which is shame.

"You been to that amazing chip shop where the fish is good but you get 12 chips? It's great" said no one ever. This is my first time back here in a while and I'm reminded why I haven't been here as the service is pretty slow. I'm sat at home still hungry for chips after ordering regular chips. There are two other chips shops in the area that leave me and my other half stuffed when we order regular chips and share it. Really disappointed as the fish was really tasty and fresh. Surely chips are the cheapest part of it so chuck some more on? Chip portion size is the classic thing that makes or breaks a chip shop. Very disappointed. I better fire up the air fryer. Edited: yes prices of everything have gone up, but are you telling me that potatoes aren't the cheapest bit? Don't worry, I will be sticking to the harefield fish bar in the future, who I assume have the same supply chain price rises yet still give out chips in wheelbarrow size portions. And ringing up to complain? What is this 1998?

Cod Special and it truly was special …nice and crispy decent sized Cod . I m glad I got recommended to go to Best Fry

Well what can I say,I came all the way from Wales to visit my family and on the eve of the last night we thought we would have a treat from "the chippy".the fish was soaking in oil and took nearly half a kitchen towel to soak it up,the chips were dry and brown like they've been fry in old oil, a very disappointing experience and shall I end in saying I will not be going there again or recommend to anyone.

The Best fish and chip shop around!!! Went in on Sunday evening. Staff ever so friendly and chatty put a smile on my face. Chips were cooked to perfection. Cod was one of the best pieces I have ever had. Would definitely recommend paying Best fry a visit for 5 star fish and chips! :)
