Average hotel. We didn't sleep well due to noise after midnight. Only positive point is the location close to the city center.

This place needs a lot of money spent on it decor is drab Visited for a Sunday lunch carvery and quality of food was cheap and poor, quantity of meat was good but tasteless I am in my early 60s and out of 8 table's apart from a youngish couple I was the youngest to me that says it all on the appeal of this place

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. stayed for 2 nights with no hot water in the room i had to boil a kettle so i could wash, when this was reported to hotel staff they were aware and said they were looking in to it but didn't care and were very unfriendly and not willing to change rooms. The swimming pool was closed and families were arriving to use it and going away with very upset children. The hotel is rundown and not particularly clean. would not recommend staying there.

A short stay at this 3 star hotel. A building heaped in history. It is valued as a venue for business or weddings Many things that unfortunately let this hotel down and I have no understanding why a fund is not set aside to put things right. Example still using out dated pound coins to use in a poor locker system that should have been Updated years ago. Changing rooms small and little privacy Restaraunt furniture outdated poor but good service. Evening menu poor and put together by someone from the 1980's Very helpful reception staff as a positive. I had a pint of cider very cold and service ok but the bar was sticky and was not cleaned properly The room was dated but ok with an en-suite Overall 6/10

A lovely hotel however the rooms could do with renovation as the floor in my room wasn't level. Staff very friendly and the food was delicious

Went for a swim so can’t comment on rooms. We were nothing but polite and were met with a seriously miserable receptionist. Maybe she was having a bad day, maybe she didn’t want us there. We were made to feel the latter of the two. Grumpy receptionists aside, was not very impressed with the cleanliness of the swimming pool. We will now be moving our custom to rivers meet in Gillingham as our money clearly wasn’t wanted here

The bar and restaurant look a little dated, bedrooms have all you need and were clean and tidy. After a little booking error the manager and receptionist resolved the issue perfectly. All staff were pleasant and super helpful and our eveing meal was excellent, I highly recommend the pork belly bites. Pool was clean safe but the Sauna was not in service. A comfrotable and pleasant overnight stay with my wife and kids.

We could not have chosen anywhere better to hold a large family gathering to celebrate an important birthday. The rooms were excellent, the food splendid and all the staff so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and already several members of the family who came, are asking for a repeat get-together next year at the same venue.

The Chase is a local hotel for me, they do a great Sunday carvery, I’ve been to a few functions there and the food and service is always excellent. It’s not a stuffy hotel, there is always a good atmosphere, it would be improved though if only they did a real ale in the bar. For guests that stay it is a great location, easy to get to on the A30 and Shaftesbury is a charming town, the home of Gold Hill.

Very much enjoyed our late lunch here. Young staff and manager were very friendly and helpful. Extremely good value for money, reasonable prices and big portions. We actually quite like the unique interior it’s cosy!

The worst experience of my life a waitress that can’t take an order correctly had to give my drinks order 3 times, mains arrived before starter, told them we haven’t had starters, then brought starters out a couple minutes later, the sauce that was on the ribs was very salty and was on the rest of the food on plater, so cancelled mains paid for starters, but wouldn’t not recommend at all. If I could leave a no star review I would

I always buy the ginger bread biscuit as kids love them . The lady serving asked if I’d like a snow man as they Christmas ones ready very nice too but at a £1:00! More for a small snowman . The biscuit is usually £2.00 . Merry Christmas 🎄 happy profit making

On our journey home from an overnight-stay in Bournemouth we decided to take a minor roads route back home rather than the direct main road route. This took us through quite a few small towns and villages. Our plan was to find a Farm Shop Café or a village / small town-centre café where we could get lunch: ideally a snack and a hot drink. We were over an hour into our journey when we saw the signs for Marcia’s Farm Shop and turned into what was a heavily pot-holed carpark. We then walked into the signposted barn noting that there was plenty of tables and chairs arranged in neat rows but no-one was sat there. There was another door into ‘The Shack’; inside was actually a full bar; like you would find in a pub. There were a few locals propping-up the bar, chatting and drinking draught beer. This is not what we had expected and we assumed that the ‘Marcia’s Farm Shop’ and ‘The Shack’ were one in the same business. There didn’t appear to be any farm produce on sale: other than, we assumed, the food offered in the menu. It was almost exactly 1pm when we were approached and welcomed by a pleasant lady. We asked about food, and she advised us to select a table and choose from the menu of snacks that were available, and that she would return to take our order. We studied the menu having ordered some tea and my Partner chose a fishfinger baguette, whereas I chose a toasted ham and cheese sourdough sandwich. The plates took a good 20-25 minutes to arrive from ordering, but freshly prepared food does take time. So, we sipped tea and amused ourselves with the help of a large (probably over-fed and under-exercised) old Labrador who constantly wandered and sniffed around the bar and seated areas. The dog then settled at our table once our food order arrived. This was not a serious issue for us (others however may dislike being ‘hounded’ by slobbering dogs while they eat their food). Both plates featured a colourful and tasty fresh dressed salad which was really good. My sandwich was really firm and crunchy with a generous helping of thick-cut ham and plenty of well-melted cheese, and a small portion of red cabbage coleslaw to go with the salad. It was really good and enjoyed. My Partner’s baguette featured homemade cod loin fishfingers and tartare sauce (both inside the baguette). The fish was a bit moist and insubstantial; despite being made from the loin. Cod can be like this and it is why we prefer the meatier haddock. The baguette also accompanied by a few crisps, but they were a really strange flavour for accompanying fish (reminded us of Oxo beef - but very artificial). Our food was on the whole good, generously portioned and very much welcomed, and it was good value.
