Bhoomi in Cheltenham

We were a party of 9 having dinner at Bhoomi Kitchen. We were given a side room to ourselves which was wonderful. The food and service were both first class. I am never disappointed when eating at Bhoomi

Really lovely food, served simply but elegantly. Great prawns, tender beef, tender lamb. Varied wine list, too. And, despite my large appetite, I was properly full at the end of the meal. Fully recommended.

Second visit here. Had a lovely New Year’s Eve meal. All food excellently presented, from starters side dishes and main menu We followed the waiters recommendation on mains for the beef curry which was delicious and so tender. The Butter Chicken, was disappointing and on my response, when asked how our meal was by another waiter I was informed it’s the tomato purer (tasted like tomato soup on chicken)..shame our waiter didn’t mention this on recommending this dish to me. Next time will try another dish . Staff very polite and welcoming.

It was my son’s 30th on Boxing Day, he wanted to go to Bhoomi, they were brilliant! Nothing was too much trouble, the food was superb and the staff outstanding!

Delicious food, attentive service and beautiful surroundings. We have been here many times and it never disappoints. Definitely worth a try if you like curry and fancy something different.

We arrived for the feasting menu, unfortunately there was no sharing of food up and down the table. On the ends of the table we got a few dishes and the middle of the table had a full array of different items, but not enough to share. The entire the table should get the same dishes. Likewise with naan breads, one naan bread cut up in the middle of a table for 11 is insufficient. They charged us £24 for a 2 poppadoms, again broken up into quarters. We didn’t know these were an extra and there was no option, but also if you’re going to charge extra for such things, at least let there be enough to go round the table! Not one crisp between 4! I also didn’t get a drink the entire time I was there, despite asking on multiple occasions, this was mirrored up and down our table! Such a shame as what we ate was lovely but they need to work on their service and how they manage the feast menu!

Four of us went to Cheltenham for a birthday meal! Warm welcome and lovely staff. Beautiful decor. We had the banquet and the food was absolutely delicious. Perfect sized portions. All in all a great dining experience!

Been going to Bhoomi since it opened around 10 years ago and it has been consistently very good throughout. Went back on 10 Aug and excellent as always.

This is a genuinely outstanding, authentic Indian restaurant. Dishes are cooked to perfection - not too much spice (I don't mean chili), and not too little. Can't recommend highly enough... It's a real discovery.

Got a takeaway, very good food but the portion size for the price was tiny. Will stick with the local curry house for sure next week, half the price and twice the size and good enough for taste.

We went here for my wife's birthday towards the beginning of November. We went for lunch; it was very quiet which was a pity because the food was absolutely brilliant! The interior is very stylish, with plenty of natural light coming in from the front windows, and then lovely warm lamp light further towards the back of the restaurant. When we arrived, we were shown to our table and immediately offered a choice of still or sparkling water. We then ordered drinks (an excellent selection of wines, spirits, cocktails, mocktails, and soft drinks - something for everyone) and looked at the menu. My daughter, my wife and I all ordered off slightly different menus, and everything was delicious! We started with the Paneer Tikka and the Barbecued Prawns from the Small Plates section of the menu, and both were incredible. I ordered the Khadai Paneer from the Lunch Thali menu. This was an excellent decision as it came with a variety of different accompaniments and I could try a little of everything. In addition, I am gluten free and asked if they could accommodate me, and they simply replaced one of the sides with another one. They could not have been more helpful! My wife ordered the Baby Eggplant from the Main Plates menu, and she chose the garlic and coriander naan bread as a side. She said that it was lovely, and that the Baby Eggplant was flavoursome and aromatic. My daughter ordered the Butter Chicken with the butter naan as a side. She said that the naan bread was spectacularly light and fluffy, and the perfect accompaniment. The Butter Chicken was moist and tender, and she said the the sauce was very indulgent and creamy. We all tried a little bit of each others' sauces and, even though they were all tomato based, they all had entirely different flavours and were all delicious. Finally, we couldn't resist some pudding. Again, they had a gluten free option in the form of Rice Pudding cooked in coconut milk. My wife and daughter shared the Gulab Jamun, which they said was excellent. The service was professional and friendly throughout, and we will definitely be going again.

Such a very different experience from the usual Indian Tayside restaurants. Just amazing food. I recommend the buffet option. An explosion of taste in a variety of dishes. I can't rate this highly enoughI

This was an impromptu decision after a trip to London was cancelled at the last minute. The restaurant is very tastefully furnished and we had excellent service - we went for the kadhai panneer thali, the samosa and the baby eggplant, and the barbecued prawns and butter chicken. The food was spectacular and we polished off everything in sight. For pudding we had the gulab jamun and the payasam. The question now is how quickly we can return! There is a very talented chef in this kitchen and we felt very fortunate to enjoy such outstanding food. Drniks were good too - champagne by the glass, and some very good cocktails - virgin and the real deal! We will be back.

four of us went November 2024. Lovely food, We had a bottle of wine, a couple of beers and bottle of water, and it all came to £200. So not the cheapest, but a very good evening all round.

Fantastic experience. The staff were really inviting and accommodating to everyone's dietary needs. We were a large group and were placed within their private dining room, which I'd definitely recommend for big tables/special occasions. The food was great, very tasty and portioned well. I will be back again soon.

The hostess especially is always fantastic, the service i general is above par. I would say the food has declined a little and the portion sizes seem to be a tad more economical. So, a little disappointed by that.

Indian here born in england Have Indian dishes the majority of the time Food taste: pretty good but some weird choices. The recipes are Indian but the food isn't amazing, it's no better than any other Variety: okay for a place of this size but could be better as some of the meals sound the same Dietary: there's some veg but little vegan. A lot of dishes have coconut and nut but that's normal for indian Portion: this is the bad part. The portions are extortionate. Each main dish you order will be a small tea plate sized bowl you can comfortably hold in your hand. These ideally cost a few £ at most to make but cost £15-18 The desert really sealed the deal. Had the kulfi ice cream. Having actually had them in India the expectations were high, but instead I got some melted down ice cream (probably not real) much smaller than a regular, smaller than a freddo. For an insane price of £6. Something smaller than half an apple I don't think I can reccomend this place to anyone.

Once again we had a wonderful meal with exceptional service. Thank you and we will be back.

We recently had the delight of visiting Bhoomi Kitchen whilst visiting Cheltenham for the weekend. The food was well beyond anything we had tasted before in terms of UK Indian cuisine, an exquisite balance of flavour and presentation, nothing overdone but just beautiful and wholesome. The service was also impeccable, staff were attentive but not intrusive and Raj in particular was very engaging and welcoming. The interiors and overall ambiance were also in perfect balance which made the entire experience extremely special and unique indeed.. We are very much looking forward to our next visits in early November. Rebecca and Simon Brewster.

An attractive restaurant and the service was fine but it's the food that matters. The chicken pieces in the starter were so dry , poppadoms just one chutney and not great. The mains of Lamb was nice but the beef was bland. I was told that they were subtle flavours as if I have never eaten fine food. Annoying comment , it was just an ok below average food experience for an above average price.

A wonderful meal, as always. My guests said it was the best Indian dining experience they could remember!

We spent our honeymoon in England this August, and Cheltenham was one of the stops on our route. On our first night there, we visited Bhoomi, and we were absolutely blown away. I can honestly say it was the best Indian food I’ve ever had! Every dish was cooked to perfection and tasted incredible. The service was excellent—really attentive and friendly. One of the waiters even took the time to chat with us at the end of our dinner, giving us great tips on places to visit in the area and other restaurants in Cheltenham (though we didn’t have time to try them all). It was such a lovely evening, and we can’t recommend Bhoomi enough!

Excellent Indian food in a very nice setting

Lovely experience as always. Food is always brilliant, achaari chicken was a particular highlight this time! Jack, Raj and Eva were brilliant as well, always make it a special occasion!

Very very over priced come on a day visit and was recommended by a local there isn’t much to order from your typical Indian restaurant asked for 3 poppadom and was given 3 quarters of a full poppadom asked for some hot chicken curry was given a mild chilly chicken which was no more than 3 desserts spoons full with freezing cold rice and paid 104.00 very nice inside but very dark. The lady at front of house was pleasant but felt rushed to finish our food and pay even though there was only us in there.

Definitely one of the best, if not the best Indian restaurant in town.

My husband and I loved this place so much, we went twice in the week we were staying in the Cotswolds! All of the dishes we ordered were hits — you really can’t go wrong. Friendly service, cool interiors, and fun cocktails. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing experience at Bhoomi Kitchen in Cheltenham for my partners 30th birthday. One of our party has coeliac and the waiting staff were so knowledgeable explaining what he could eat, and offering alternatives for some things he couldn’t. They were all so lovely and attentive, such a lovely atmosphere. The food is just amazing, there aren’t enough words to explain how good it is! We went for the feast menu after recommendation from the waiting staff and we weren’t disappointed. It allowed us to try soo many lovely dishes and there was plenty of food! Such an amazing experience. Thank you so much! ☺️

Lovely restaurant and super friendly staff. The service was great and the food tasted awesome. Perfect experience on Onam day and had flavoursome Sadhya. Thank you for bringing Kerala so close to us. Really appreciate and looking forward to more Onam celebrations at yours.

Fantastic service as always, came for our 1 year wedding anniversary and they welcomed us with Prosecco (and Nosecco for me as I’m pregnant) which was a lovely gesture. Food was divine as always, and the barman re-created my favourite yet simple drink I had in Delhi, which was incredibly kind when soft drinks have become tedious. Fantastic service and the loveliest staff always!

Very stingy portions were given, spent £87.95 for just 2 course meal, you are compelled to buy 2 course meal that means you have to definitely spend £70 as each course is £35. The quality and quantity was not that great, after spending nearly £90 I still had to sleep hungry. The bill didn't include any alcoholic drinks. VERY VERY EXPENSIVE RESTAURANT I have ever been in my life the starters were just 5 PCs on a smallest quarter plate. In London a family of 4 can eat sufficiently for this money. Terrible experience regret going to this restaurant.😞😡

One of our absolute favourite restaurants in the South West. Excellent cocktails- we tried the Keralan Sunset and Masala Mojito, both were fresh and delicious. The chutneys that accompany the poppadoms are divine. I have come back to Bhoomi 3 times just for the Rasam and Prawns- perfectly peppered, and great for a wintry day, or for a day I was just bit more homesick. We enjoyed the Vada Sambhar too. Beef and parotta is of course a staple kerala meal, and it is perfection here, as is their prawns, duck and dosa. There is honestly nothing to fault here, save maybe a shortage of veg options. Service is also great- we are grateful for Rajesh and his hospitality. Very clear with suggestions and makes it clear to the chef about spice preferences. All in all, 5/5 to Bhoomi. We will visit again!

We went to Bhoomi on Saturday night and we thoroughly enjoyed the excellent food and service. At Bhoomi you will probably see dishes that you have never come across before and the standard of cooking and presentation is extremely high. We were very well looked after by Raj who was so friendly and helpful. He answered all my questions about ingredients I had never heard of and thanks to him I tried dishes that previously would not have experienced. When I asked Raj what was in the tasty chutney that accompanied the poppadoms that we had finished off it was so lovely, he kindly returned to the kitchen and produced another dish of apple and date chutney without us having to ask. The portions are very generous and the value for money is excellent. Service charge was not included which is very unusual these days but we were more than happy to leave a tip for a very rememberable evening. We can't wait to return! We were on a trip from London, so used to top notch Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine. We thoroughly enjoyed our freshly cooked thali. Definitely a cut above, generous portions, fabulous service.

My husband and I recently dined at Bhoomi, and I must say, it was an exceptional, especially during lunchtime when they serve their fabulous thali. This is one of the main reasons for going at lunchtime times. The portion sizes and variety were just right—generous enough to satisfy a hearty appetite without overwhelming you. Each thali came with a great variety of dishes, ensuring a delightful mix of flavors and textures that kept every bite interesting. What truly elevated the experience was the excellent and charming service. The staff were not only attentive but also genuinely warm and welcoming, making you feel like a valued guest rather than just another customer. It’s rare to find such a combination of quality food and outstanding service. To top it all off, the thali is amazing value for money. With the quality and quantity of food served. We’ll definitely be returning soon and highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a delicious and affordable lunch

Waited 1 .5 hours for food after ordering. Waiters were friendly but service was non-existent. Restaurant was busy but we walked out.

My first visit.The Banquet is exceptional value getting seven different dishes, but the highlight was the duck - loads of slices cooked perfectly pink. We ate handsomely but still took away leftovers for two more meals.

Dining at Bhoomi is always an enjoyable experience, where dishes are nicely prepared and well served. One plea though - please bring back the option of Rasam without the dreaded coriander leaves!

We had a really wonderful evening here on Friday that we rebooked for Saturday night also. The selection of dishes available and the flavour within them was fantastic. Would thoroughly recommend and will be back again! The decor in the restaurant was also beautiful and the staff were so helpful and attentive. 10/10

Lunch time Thali was devine. The presentation and taste were delicious and the service was friendly, polite and attentive. Celebrated a friend's birthday and the staff generously gave a birthday cake and glasses of prosecco which was really unexpected. We were spoilt! Highly recommend a visit. Indian food with style!! It's not cheap of course: rather more than we would normally pay, but the quality of the ingredients and cooking stands out. Very generous portions too, so much so that there was chance of fitting in dessert. Friendly, helpful and informative service too, with tweaks to the spicing of a couple of dishes. Strongly recommended for a special occasion: worth that bit extra.

Although the restaurant was open when we arrived, the staff were kind enough to stay open while we ate, well past closing time. We all ordered the feast, and it did not disappoint. There was a wide variety of dishes, each more delicious than the last. Our favorites were the butter chicken and the garlic naan, but there wasn’t a single bad dish out of all we received. Not at all a dealbreaker, but I wasn’t a fan of the cider. Would’ve loved if they had one on tap. Also service could’ve been slightly more attentive in my opinion, but none of my coworkers were bothered by it so maybe that was just a me problem. Side note: for the two hours we were there for dinner, the entire music playlist was Shawn Mendes. It didn’t bother us at all but we thought it was kinda hilarious and I had to include it in the review. TLDR; seriously delicious Indian food! Don’t be afraid to get the feast and try all the dishes!

I decided to come to Bhoomi Kitchen for my Dads 60th birthday as we had been to the Oxford one and thought it was really good. There was 4 of us attending for the meal. The Oxford one was good but this was just another level altogether. This meal was outstanding. We all decided to go for the ‘Feast’ option and the food we received was sensational. Amazing choices, good serving sizes, great service… we really couldn’t have asked for more. My Dad described it as ‘the best Indian I have ever had’ so it is fair to say he left happy and we will be coming back again in the future I am sure. Thank you to the chefs and the staff for making his 60th such a great experience.

The food was unexpectedly good but lacked authentic Kerala flavors, especially the pappadam and chutneys. Basic table settings, like providing salt and pepper, were missing. The experience was ruined by a group of three loud, inconsiderate women, making it intolerable. The staff should manage the atmosphere better to ensure a pleasant dining experience. I had the duck mappas, and it also lacked Kerala authenticity. The pulao needs to be following pulao recipe not basmati rice recipe. The Appam was really good and so was the pork curry. The starters were great. Overall, while the food was good, there is significant room for improvement in both flavor authenticity and ambiance.

Very good South Indian food good well in a smart and sophisticated restaurant. Customer service is fantastic especially Vijay! He really made our meal special. Highly recommend the beef curry on the special menu along with lamb chops and the salmon on the small plates menu! You won’t be disappointed

Freaking incredibly good place. My literal favorite place to eat in England. I was in the area for work and ate here probably 8 of 10 days i was there (wish i ate 10 of 10 times). I actually do not often eat this type of food but im a huge fan of this place. Vijay (Vinjendra) was the biggest reason we kept coming back because his service was fantastic and he always gave us great recommendations. It is not easy to find restaurants that meet my protein requirement, freshness requirement, and quality of service but this place nailed the brief. Price was extremely fair as well. I highly recommend you try this place ojt and say hi to all the kind staff including Vijay!

Had family visiting from London and we were all very impressed with the food. It was the most authentic we had tasted and the staff were helpful and very pleasant. It’s a must visit place to really experience the amazing food and atmosphere.

What a fantastic culinary experience we had at Bhoomi Kitchen for our daughter’s 28th birthday last week. Food, wine & staff were all 10/10…

Raj, our waiter, was extremely friendly and gave us very competent advice. The atmosphere is very nice and the food is excellent. Bhoomi Kitchen is unreservedly recommendable

Tried for the first time when visiting Cheltenham this year and would 100% recommend. The Chilli Chicken is the best I have ever had. Service is friendly and polite. Raj is an excellent waiter!

The reason of 1 star is for the rude staff women who always when I order each time between 40/50£ she says is closed at 9 o'clock...meantime other staff took orders at 21:20 each time I rang.... hopefully the manager will see this message and will take action because you just lost a valuable customer...I'll have to stick with opposite road indian restaurant from now on ! Thanks for the last 3 years food service but I won't comeback here again , that's not how you treat a regular customer ! Shame !

I haven't been to Bhoomi for a very long time and my last visit reminded me why. This place was very good a few years back but since then its rebranded itself as an expensive mini prithvi without any effort put into the food. Meal was ridiculously bland and I couldnt understand what they stood for anymore. Service was good however and saved the night. Not sure about the dark decor, not exactly Indian Street food vibes

Even though the restaurant is quite ‘grown up’ they accommodated us with our 1-year old and were really nice about it, providing a high chair. The food was extraordinary, and we were so glad we came. The chettinad beef had layers of flavour and the lamb chop starter was buzzing with spice. I love a simple curry house, but this was a different world. All round a great experience.
