Enjoyed my gluten free sandwich which is served with fries, coleslaw and bit of salad. Unfortunately coleslaw was poor / as you will see in the photo. Good cakes - chocolate vegan one was tasty. Coffee was good. It’s not cheap though. Outside seating comes with blankets and the new little undercover small seating area is a good addition. Just could still overall be a bit better . Not on the same level as the restaurant at Blackbrooks Sedlescombe which is part of the same group.

Went here for late lunch despite several negative reviews about quality of food and high prices. We were pleasantly surprised. Yes, the egg mayonnaise and cress sandwich was £9.25, but it came with generous portions of salad and chips plus coleslaw. Similar for the prawn and crayfish sandwich priced at £9.75. The jacket potato with cheese and beans (£9.25) was also served with salad. We are all hearty eaters but none of us could finish our meals. I would say that the portions were too large, but certainly good value for money! The food was also good, and nicely served. Staff were charming.

Oh this place has gone downhill !! Have been here before meeting family for coffee and browse. This time more things off menu, run out. What they had was cold. Tiny cups of coffee. Garden centre, low stock, plants dead or uncared for. Maybe they are closing down? We won't be back.

Both my grandson and I had the breakfast, my grandson didn’t want the sausage, tomato or the toast but couldn’t remove from the order. I asked for well done bacon but this didn’t happen, the mushrooms were nearly raw so I didn’t eat them and the toast was still very soft and hardly toasted, the half of a tomato needed to be cooked for longer. All in all not an enjoyable breakfast and not to be recommended based on this visit which is a shame as I’ve been going to Blackbrooks for a number of years and always enjoyed a lovely breakfast.

Proper flippin pisstake, lets be honest. The lightest of light lunches with nothimg to drink, no coffees, etc. Egg and cress sandwich £9.95 NINE NINETY FIVE FOR AN EGG AND CRESS SANDWICH...... Hot Quiche a tenner Ham, egg and chips £14 So that's no coffees or cake, which would have been almost a hundred quid. Have you completely lost your mind, I mean.. Are You Alright ? Can I see the eiffel tower or something ? Taking the PISS.

We opted for Smoked Cheese, Tomato and Onion Marmalade Paninis. They took an age to arrive, when they did only two of us received our food. The third had to wait a while again. The paninis were awful. Tasted of raw fish!!! Am now thinking 'cross contamination ' as they also prepare Prawn and Crayfish sandwiches. Not planning on eating there again.

Was travelling from Norfolk and was recommended this cafe for breakfast, what a disappointment, plate was swimming in grease bacon not even cooked properly rind was raw, mushrooms so black, took 20 mins to arrive yet only 4 people in cafe, would not recommend to anyone, can honestly say this was the worse breakfast ever.

A birthday lunch for my mum's 84th birthday. I combined a lunch for my mum with a look around this garden centre which she had not previously visited. We both had the baked potato with coronation chicken, salad and coleslaw I needed no dinner that day. Portions are large and this lunch was really filling a warm summer day meant we chose cold drinks and the choice is plentiful. Service was also very good and staff are friendly and welcoming.

I ordered a toasted cheese sandwich which when it arrived seemed to have been made with nasty processed cheese. I was able to peel it all out from the sandwich as it was all stuck together like a gooey mess. When I complained about it, there was no offer to rectify the disappointing meal, no offer of exchange or discount. I then complained to the company through the website but got no response whatsoever. I will not be visiting here again nor recommending to anyone else.

Nearly £9 for a jacket potato with tuna seems quite expensive even in these inflation times. Came with side garnish of salad. The superfood salad was better value. Latte coffee was excellent. Good range of cakes although did not partake. Cafe inside and outside seating. Staff were friendly and service was efficient. Could have been a little warmer inside. So would go back but just think it could be improved in little ways. Maybe more like it’s sister branch in sedlescombe which feels more cosy.

Had lunch here with two friends. We had booked a table (Saturday lunchtime) but no need as the place was almost empty. We were not greeted by anyone when we arrived. Eventually a member of staff emerged from the bar and told us we could sit anywhere. We found a table and were chatting for some time before realising that nobody had come to take our order. Eventually we went to the bar where we were told we had to order at the bar. We explained we had never been here before so was not aware of that but we received no apology. Nowhere was there any indication that this was the procedure and there was no number on our table to alert us to the fact that we may have to order at the bar. We all ordered the carvery. Big mistake. The meat was lukewarm. Small selection of vegetables and not enough serving spoons. Peas were floating in water but no slotted spoon to drain them. The roast potatoes were so touch we couldn't even cut them, let alone eat them. They seemed to have been left over from a previous day and reheated. The vegetables were dried up and lukewarm. Nobody bothered to come to our table to see if everything was alright. The place was very cold as there was no heating on. Very unfriendly atmosphere. Will never go there again!

4 of us plus a dog for a Sunday lunch between Christmas and new year . Got a lovely welcome from the staff showed to our table and drinks ordered. The food came quickly and was delicious. The staff checked on us to ensure we had everything or if we needed anything further. All in all it was a lovely meal with good service what more could you ask for. I would definitely recommend.

Tried the Hay Waggon, which is under new ownership. Great barbecue with seafood kebabs and amazing local rump steak. Homemade ice creams are to die for. All served up in a wonderful garden

I had the absolute pleasure of being served by Lottie during my visit to The Swan, and I must say, she was an absolute gem. From the moment Margot (my dog) and I arrived, Lottie’s warm and welcoming demeanour instantly made us feel right at home. Her attentiveness and genuine care for our experience were evident throughout our visit. She went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, accommodating our requests with a cheerful smile and impeccable professionalism. It’s rare to come across someone so naturally gifted in making people (and dogs!) feel valued and comfortable. Lottie is an absolute asset to the pub, and Margot and I will definitely be back. Thank you, Lottie, for making our visit so memorable. Edit: I also have to mention how lovely the rooms are at The Swan. They’re cosy, beautifully decorated, and the perfect retreat after a long day. Such a wonderful stay all around!
