Blacklock Shoreditch in Hackney

I Booked Blacklock off the back of the recommendation that it was in the top 3 Sunday roasts London had to offer, and I must say it didn’t disappoint. We went for the “all in” option and received masses of food and unlimited gravy, all of which was excellent. A massive thank you to our host Jasmin who provided us with great service!!

First of all, it's really noisy, the lamb smells bad, and the desserts are better than the steaks. Also, they specified a tip and received 12.5% ​​of the price of the food. We only tipped 20,000 won...

Amazing steak house in central london. The quality of meat is top notch but also comes with the price. They have ample seating but arrive early as they take time. Do try the cheesecake at the end it was better than most other cheesecakes from a pastry shop. Also tasty cocktails. Booking recommend in advance

Took my boyfriend for his 41st birthday! Claire our server was wonderful, wine was amazing on tap - and sharing platter was perfect for us. She even gave us a little treat at the end to celebrate my man's bday - cherry lemoncello was amazing

Average Steak. It's very noisy inside with terrible 90s chart music blaring out of the speakers. The service was, however, excellent, and the staff are excellent.

We love this restaurant the staff are friendly the food is amazing the atmosphere is great and the cheesecake is so yummy. Felixstowe was especially helpful to us making sure we were well looked after and had a brilliant meal with all the trimmings including the crackling!

Went for the Sunday roast. Had the all in for £27pp (all 3 meats : beef, lamb and pork) and also the four cheese cauliflower.All was so tasty 10/10! Worth the hype! They also have complimentary sparkling filtered water.

I actually think all positive reviews are bots. One of the most underwhelming and average meals I have ever had in a restaurant. Meat was so average it hurts, nothing had flavor at all, and the terrible radio music hits makes it not feel like a classy chophouse. I think this place is a proper tourist trap. I would avoid, I love meat and I regretted spending money here. The staff was quite lovely.

The "All in" roast was delicious, would definitely come back for more. The service was pretty fast, and the atmosphere was nice. It didn't completely blow my mind but overall it was a good experience

A big group of 13 people for a Monday night, this restaurant did not disappoint. They went above and beyond for our group. The table were predominantly meat eaters, we had 2 veggies, and our lovely server went next door to get chips for them as the chips on site are cooked in beef fat. Everyone was so polite and we all had a fabulous time, thank you so so much

Visited the restaurant on the 23rd December, served by Pepe. He was excellent, made us feel very welcome and helped us (and our 2 dogs) in selecting from the menu. The food and drinks served were outstanding, great value and would highly recommend.

There isn’t a better dining experience in London then Blacklock, it’s uniquely exceptional and the only of its kind, unmatched. From the industrial warehouse aesthetics to the lively atmosphere. It’s unpretentious, warm and welcoming. Modern yet cosy, it feels like home. The staff are exemplary familiar yet professional. Knowledgable and authentic and they are passionate about what they do. They are an amazing team and it shines through in all that they do. The food is of the highest order it’s sustainably sourced and it’s something they are also passionate about and this passion and love is transferred to the plate all of which without exception are flawless as is the experience as a whole. To the wonderful woman with the red hair who’s name I’m embarrassed I can’t recall thank you for the ultimate dining experience and making our pre Christmas meal one to remember. Your presence was such a gift to us, you went above and beyond, you gave us a wonderful dining experience, and most importantly wonderful memories that we will not forget. Thank you so much.

I ordered the Beef rump and it was perfect to eat alone. I had the white chocolate cake for dessert, and you must try it. It tastes like Damn It Holy.💀 Be sure to try the white chocolate cake.👍🏿👍🏼👍 Nearby, 200 meters away, there is a famous mural by the artist Banksy.

Excellent steak selection and the beef dripping chips and gravy are a must on the side (crispiest fluffiest chips I’ve had). Would recommend for a perfectly cooked steak every time.

1st visit for a last minute Sunday lunch, had to wait about 20 minutes as hadn’t booked but it was certainly worth the wait. From start to finish the service was fantastic, they were excellent with my nut allergies. Crayfish cocktail to start was delicious, fresh and piled high, my husband had the pigs head on toast which was equally as delicious. The Sunday roast was amazing, again fresh and well cooked, we had the all in, the beef, lamb and pork were succulent and full of flavour, roasties were crisp and fluffy and don’t get me started on the bottomless gravy! We were going to pass on pud but spotted the white chocolate cheesecake and couldn’t resist. Well made cocktails and a fab bottle of red made this one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve ever had. And the excellent service from Marta made it the perfect experience too.

Had a lovely post Christmas lunch with friends. Staff were very friendly and food was gorgeous. Meat options are very good and generous. The only thing I would say is vegetarian food was limited to one option, it would be good to have a few. Otherwise a great afternoon.

The best sunday roast I‘ve ever had! I had the all-in (pork, lamb, beef) served on a yorkshire pudding, some roast potatos, carrots and cabbage with apple/horseradish/mint sauce and a saucepan full of gravy together with a glass of Tempranillo 🍷 Sat on the bar to eat it which was super comfortable. Absolutely recommend!

Sunday roast was amazing! 3 people with the All-in set (£27 pp), plenty of meat and trimmings - we were left satisfied and full. Meat was tender and delicious, and the Yorkshire pudding was gigantic!! Friendly staff.

A lovely meat eaters restaurant with great service despite being a busy lunch crowd. Headline house gravy was delicious. Make sure you try the cheesecake which was served table-side as a nice touch.

Absolutely fantastic on every count. The service, the atmosphere, and importantly, the food. Could not fault it at all. Wanted a great meaty restaurant to take my vegetable hating husband to on his birthday. Someone at work had recommended Blacklock so I booked it. We’ve been to Hawksmoor a few times and loved it, so our expectations were high and it did not disappoint. Staff were amazing from the moment we arrived. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Attentive to exactly the right level. Food was sensational. We had the Prime Rib (700g) and a bacon chop, plus fries. So good. Deserts were also lovely- bread and butter pudding and 698142 cheese cake both fabulous. We then had a tipple at the bar on the way out. All excellent and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back.

Excellent meats with very good sweet potatoes, I loved it!

I understand the hype. The food was incredible, from the starters to the mains and dessert. We ordered the pork ribs, and all in platter for 2 people, and a porterhouse chop with Bone marrow, fries and sweet potato for 4 people to share. It was delicious, perfectly Cooked and seasoned. The desserts which I didn’t take a pic of were also incredible, the star being the white chocolate cheesecake which was deconstructed. Fabulous meal it was packed on a Tuesday, service was nice but the staff are run off their toes busy. The meal was so good we booked another table while eating our meal.

They managed to squeeze us into the bar - very appreciative since we didn’t have reservations on a Saturday night. The bartenders were amazing and gave the best recommendations! Food was good!

A fantastic restaurant and amazing food too 😋

Went a couple of Sundays ago as had seen it on Tik Tok!!! Wow!!! Fab meal which we shared, the beef, pork and lamb were superb as was the potatoes, Yorkshire & veg. The unlimited gravy was a great extra and to top if off the cheesecake was divine all washed down with Kent Prosecco. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Was definitely worth coming, we loved it!!

We came on a very busy Friday evening, this impacted service because although the staff were very friendly and tried to be accommodating, the packed out restaurant limited the presence of staff around tables. Unfortunately the music was too loud, we couldn’t hear eachother across the table so we found ourselves shouting which is what everyone else was doing too. The lamb was good - tender and juicy but the pork was dry, the sides were tasty and would recommend the beef dripping chips. I’d like to return during a week day for lunch and see how it differs to a busy weekend evening.

Come here for Sunday roast. Although the food was a little slow to come out, the quality was very high and the price was very reasonable. The restaurant was very popular and half of the seats were gone when I arrived at 12 noon.

Went for Sunday lunch. Very busy & we were super lucky to get a table with no booking as we were there right as it opened. I would strongly recommend pre-booking. Portion sizes were huge & food was divine. Staff were really attentive & friendly.

Since lockdown I have often experienced being overcharged for poor food and/or surly service. Recently went to Blacklock Shoreditch for a bithday dinner and my faith in restaurants was restored. Food was really excellent and service first class. Front desk (fair haired guy, didn't catch his name) bent over backwards to help. Despite the fact the place was rammed. Waitress was very friendly and efficient. One small error in the order was corrected immediately with profuse apologies. Meal wasn't cheap but was really worth the price. Overall an absolutely top class experience. If I could have given more than 5 stars, I would.

Nice food, nice service, nice price

If you’re looking to have a classic Sunday roast with fun vibes, you’ve got to come to Blacklock! The staff here are incredible and made the meal that much more memorable. We originally had a 5:45 reso, but were so hungry, we tried our luck and showed up 30 minutes early….and still got seated right away despite it being packed! The hosts were really nice about it too. We already knew we wanted to get the Sunday Roast All In which includes: Pork Loin, Beef Rump, Lamb, Yorkshire puddings, duck fat roasted potatoes, carrots, greens, unlimited gravy, and three sauces. I’m not usually a meat and potatoes fan, but this was delicious and such a fun and unique experience (for Americans anyway). We topped off our meal with some scrumptious White Chocolate Cheesecake with winter berries. Special shoutout to Agus our waitress - she was funny, friendly, and so attentive. Give her a raise!

Amazing Sunday roast. The food was absolutely incredible and it was a cool looking spot. Unfortunately, our server was dreadful. Gave attitude immediately when we sat down, very inattentive and while it made a little sense as one of her tables was a group of her friends, she appeared to be very helpful to the rest of her tables and just decided we weren’t the right group for her. Fortunately though, we did get help from other servers who were great. Someone else even had to step in when it was time to pay the bill (we asked our original server twice and she just went about doing other things) That aside, we had a great time and incredible food. Hopefully next time it’s a different server!

A friend recommended this place during our London trip. We loved everything we experienced. We had the steak, which was tender and juicy. Our apple-crumbled dessert was the perfect finale for the evening. The atmosphere was charming. Our waiter was amiable and attentive.

Their special dist call Sunday Roast, a tranditional meal of Brisish and served only in Sunday. Very crowded on lunch time. Have to book 1 week or more days in advance to ensure you have seats.

Delicious small bites to start and excellent bone in sirloin to share. Sides were very tasty, especially the baby gem lettuce. Cheesecake a big hit with my kids. Thanks also to Paris who was very professional, friendly and helpful! A lovely evening

Came here tonight with my partner, we’ve been here multiple times and have NEVER had a bad experience, however tonight was definitely one of the best! Our waitress Claire was amazing and so friendly, an absolute asset to have at Blacklock! The food was unbelievable as always and the service was incredible, thank you for amazing meal!

Best prime rib steak I've had in London so far. Melt in your mouth texture with a nice crust that's seasoned very well. The chop sauce wasn't really needed. The prime rib was good on its own with just the salt. Skinny lamb chop with the green sauce is also a must. Great service. Very friendly and attentive staff. Will definitely come back.

Dined in Blacklock Shoreditch during our holiday in London and it was one of the best experiences we've had. James G. was our waiter and he was beyond helpful. He also treated us an extra dish for free because as he said he was late to our table, I mean how better service could you get from that? We ordered smoked beef ribs, burgers, salad and the extra dishh was the mushrooms which was beyond lovely! Totally recommend it! Cheers

Once the industrial area in London decades ago… industrial themes interiors, cheerful professional services and great food. We visited on Sunday and ordered the ALL in One for three Sunday roast. Great and delicious dishes. Highly recommended.

One of the best steaks (fillet/sirloin) I’ve had, made even more memorable by James, who was incredibly friendly and attentive. He really made my family feel welcome and looked after. I went in to get the famous cheesecake, pretty late in the evening, I told them I am here for dessert and can take a seat at the bar. the hostess said that they are completely booked, including the bar, even though they had tons of space available. she then sat a walk-in customer right after me, and when I inquired politely, said that all the "current customers are waiting for food" so I should come back in after 40 minutes. I'd have understood if the restaurant was full, but it was very much not, so to discriminate someone based on their order (especially if they're willing to be in and out) feels pretty hurtful and disappointing. [in response to the owners comment the the restaurant was full] there were tables available to reserve when I walked in. I checked online. I understand that ethics are based on context, but not the best idea to refute the actual facts I presented in my review

Saved only by an incredible waiter that ensured that we got service worth of the service charge. I had heard so many great things about Blacklock, and was desperate to try. However it fell beyond short of expectation. Service - Slow. We were given the wrong starters and our wine was poured with the cap left on. We had waited over 20 minutes for our wrong plate to be served Food - Good. For the price, I was hoping for a fresh experience, through the side plates and starters. But I found it lacking. However, the quality of meat is incredible, it’s a shame that the sides let it down so dramatically May be worth mentioning, but the desert on the menu and what was served was completely different. Still enjoyable but not incredible Price - I was pleasantly surprised at the price

Such a wide variety of delicious meat options! We loved all the dishes, especially the lamb chops and chips covered in beef drippings. The service was top-notch as well. Will be returning.

Went here with a group of coworkers since we're visiting, this place was highly recommended. I had the steak sarnie (medium) and beef dripping chips. Steak was cooked to perfection and the chips were the best I've ever had, perfect puffy texture inside and crunchy outside. Food was reasonably priced and friendly service. Will definitely come back again!

Paris, a great service the best we have had

This place has a great formula and it executes perfectly. It has some of the cool Shoreditch vibe without trying too hard but the main reason to come is the excellent steaks. The staff were friendly and helpful, explaining well the different meat cuts and the beef was excellent. A great dinner - it fully delivered on its promise.

Greeted upon arrival by a member of staff. Taken to our table, all of the staff were so friendly and super attentive, especially when it came to drink and gravy top ups! I applaude the staff - they were a truly wonderful team. We ordered the all in (sharing platter roast) and food took about 20 minutes which was quite good considering the place was rammed! Unfortunately, the food came out warm, not hot at all and so it quickly became disappointing with taste and flavours. The texture of the Yorkshire became hard and chewy. We can say we enjoyed the meat, it was very good, but would have been better served hotter. The gravy had a beautiful depth to it and was the only thing warming out food and plate. The potatoes in the room looked promising with crispy skins however the ones we were served were kinda stodgy and lacked that crispy skin and fluffy centre we thought we had seen on other tables. Cabbage and carrots accompanied the meats. These were nice, again would have been better served hot. The only thing served piping hot, suggesting its freshness was the cauliflower cheese, which came in its own dish. This was lovely and flavourful with four cheese married together. Overall it was nice, however the lack of hot food served was a knife to the heart. It was nice to try, but wouldn’t go back anytime soon.

We have just moved over from Australia and were keen to try a Sunday Roast for the first time. We stumbled upon here, and despite there being limited availability we were provided with seats at the bar. The bar staff - Alex and Darren, were particularly wonderful. They explained the menu in detail, and were kind enough to write us up a list of London recommendations. Some of the best service we have ever had! The food itself was fantastic and lived up to the hype. In particular the gravy was so so good! And we also had some wonderful red wine recommended by the staff which was also incredible. This is a fantastic restaurant/bar with some wonderful people working here. We will be back soon!

You have to like meat to like this place! Food was ok, the best thing is their chips! Superb chips. Rather overpriced for what you get. But as it was a birthday celebration it was worth paying extra. There was no chicken on the menu so if you’re not a meat eater you’re up Shoreditch Creek!

Just got taken to this place by my partner for my birthday dinner, and have to say it was the best dinner experience I’ve had in London so far - totally made my night! 😊 Our steaks were cooked perfectly to our temp liking (recommend the Blacklock cut - super lean and tender!), the chop sauce was the perfect accompaniment, the little pre-chop bites were all amazing, the cocktails were well-balanced, and the side dishes were delicious. The highlight of the night however was our waitress Marta, who was so friendly and personable with all her recommendations, and she even brought their signature white chocolate cheesecake to our table herself with her warm well wishes. In fact, all the staff were 10/10 with their service throughout the night - it’s no wonder this particular restaurant get gleaming reviews from their patrons. Keep it up Blacklock and 100% will return, thank you!👍

Good supermarket in a central area of ​​London, adequate prices in relation to the standard of living there

Went there for dinner on a Thursday night with a group of friends (booking was at 7:15). Since I arrived slightly later than the others, they had already ordered a drink when I arrived. However, it took at least 10 attempts to get the attention of one of the staff to order my drink when we were literally sat next to the kitchen with staff walking past serving food every few seconds. We eventually ordered the food (three portions of the “all in” and one portion steak with sides) the appetisers for the all in came very quickly which was nice. The mains then took another hour to get to the table… seeing as the all in came with appetiser three of us wasn’t super hungry so the wait was slightly tolerable, but one of our friends had waited that whole time without a single bite of anything so they got very hungry waiting for their food. Most annoying thing is the table next to us had their mains before us despite them sitting down after we ordered the food. When the food did arrive, the beef in the all in was OKAY, the lamb was tasty and the pork looked so dry I didn’t even bother trying as my friends were up to finishing the pork anyway. We also ordered the baby gem lettuce in an attempt to balance out the meat heavy meal, the alleged “barbecued” baby gem was at most warmed up under the heat lamp, and strangely limp, overall not a winner. We ordered cheesecake for dessert, the cheese cake itself was tasty but the sauce that comes with it really doesn’t add to the dish so none of us had any after giving it a brief try. The volume of the music and the location of our table also made it difficult to hold conversations without shouting as well.

What a way to start the night! Fabulous choice of meats and sides (chips fried in beef fat) and quality wine with great and knowledgeable staff to assist. Also great cocktail menu for before dinner, absolutely amazing experience
