The Blue Bell is my local. However yesterday I had a visit from two friends from Kent. We had a pub lunch. Chicken TM, Chilli Beef and a Sausage and Mash. Neck cool beers and Cider. Everything was as I expected and my ‘southern’ friends really r joyed the pub the people and the food. Credit to the city

Every busy 6pm Friday night. Varied menu but burger type. I was disappointed with Kitsu chicken. Not much flavour. Service was quick and friendly. Carpark attached.

Last weekend we had my partners baby shower at the blue bell. Stacey and the team were more than helpful, from letting us in early to set up, keeping the bar stocked up all day and cleaning everything when it was done. We often come into the blue bell of an evening and never have any issues. The staff are always helpful, happy and pleasant. Would definitely recommend the blue bell. Thanks again!

I would just like to say a massive Thank You for helping to make my daughters Baby Shower so special at the weekend. Stacey has supported us over the past few months in planning and keeping us updated with a great, helpful 'can do' attitude. We were able to get in early on the day to decorate room and Chloe and Tina kept everyone happy with a smile behind the bar. Th for was spot on with more than enough for the guests. Thank you to everyone. What a great day.

Food is either good or decent depending on when you go, staff are friendly too. Not the cleanest but it's not too bad, and it does get fairly crowded. Important note that pets are allowed and there are usually a lot of people vaping inside

Big thanks to all the staff at the Blue Bell. Hired the room upstairs for my Mother's 90th birthday celebration. The staff went the extra yard to make everyone fell welcome and so comfortable. The food supplied was excellent . Big shout out to Abby and Molly who served us all night with Big smiles and laughs. Highly recommend. Thanks Guys xx

Had birthday celebration in the function room, approx 100 guests, it was fantastic. The staff, from planning stages to the night itself could not be more helpful. The buffet was just what we asked for and the room was set up beautifully, and clean as a whistle. The bar staff on the night were so efficient and pleasant, cannot recommend enough. We are local to the area and in our opinion this is the best run pub in Sunderland. Its a proper local. Thanks a million everyone.

Had a fantastic night in the function room for a birthday party! The food, drinks and service was fantastic from start to finish! Buffet was all fresh and plenty choice for all ages. Perfect size room for a gathering.

Good internal daycore,outside seating is relatively secluded. Food is good, and there is a good variety of alcoholic beverages. It was a sunny day, so we sat outside. Unfortunately, there were a group of young people who were drunk,loud,and using foul language, so we went back inside.

We visited for the carvery on Sunday and it did not disappoint. Food was all fresh and topped up regularly. Good choice of meat and veg with a choice of accompaniments. Staff were friendly and checked to see if everything was alright with our meals. Only negative would be the small range of desserts but most of us were too stuffed for dessert anyway.

Have been going to the blue bell since 1970, but i now live in Leicestershire, so can only get up once or twice a year, I have seen a lot of changes, what happened to the blue bell on the outside of the pub?

First time l’ve visited this pub after the football match on Saturday. Can I just say the atmosphere was fantastic, staff were extremely busy but all had smiles on their faces. We ordered the sharers and we were very impressed with the amount we got. Definitely value for money. We will be back.

Tuesday, 03/10/2023. Ordered all day breakfast as I've had it before & has always been lovely. However,today it was not only presented badly, (all items on top of each other,)despite ordering well done bacon it wasn't cooked to specification, lukewarm sausage is a health risk ( food poisoning & worms, common in under cooked pork products). Eggs were hard & tomato not cooked at all. I was asked by a staff member collecting my leftovers if I had enjoyed my meal & I let her know it was shabby, her reply was that it was a different chef.Maybe include this information when customers place orders, then we wouldn't have to complain about poor food. Very disappointing.

Food Was served very quickly and all three of us had something different, it was piping hot and delicious, then we had a dessert to finish off our meal and we were pleasantly surprised that the cost was only £2-99 each, so for 3 meals and desserts plus our drinks, it came to about £40. Well done, thanks to the kitchen staff and all the other people who were working there. It was our first time but definitely not our last time.

Pathetic service! Asked about food and told me that food has stopped being served (7:40pm) even though I was told it didn't finish until 8pm. Told me in a very rude manner! Customer service always seems to be an issue here unfortunately

Used to be a great pub .Now even the bar staff can't be bothered to to serve customers.Dirty pub with dreadful beer. I'll be drinking in lighthouse ocean bar from now on .

Great pub fantastic bar staff/team .Best manager I've known and have been a regular since 1978. Tracy and Tina, Stacey brilliant staff .would recommend. I stay in pubs every week and could not recommend this pub any more. Its the best best pub in sunderland by far. UPDATE 26.12.21 For some reason all the chairs were removed on Christmas eve .families were walking in then leaving as they had pensioner parents empty pub but no seats to sit on etc ! .boxing day seats available but music so loud we had to leave after a drink . Stonehouse need to address there policy on clientel . They do advertise sport including football etc . But play blasting music over the top etc . 2.35 pm
