We arrived anticipated lunch with our daughter and son in law would be lovely. Pulling up the building looked beautiful and very festive. On arrival we sat waiting for our drinks order, nobody approached. Eventually we got the attention of a lovely waiter..he took our drinks order with a smile. After that things got laughable..we ordered food starters and main meals..starters arrived after around 20 mins..all okay. Main meals then took one hour 15 to arrive after chasing numerous times. On arrival it was inedible..cold and very disappointing. I asked to see the manager he apologised and said it was because he was on his break. The food was sent back and we were told that its the kitchen staff and it happens frequently..there would be no charge. I didn't ask for the no charge we would rather have a lovely lunch..the restaurant is really beautiful..but dear me the food looks like it was microwaved from Iceland..and that's flattering.

Visited the store to shop and have lunch. Decided to give the revamped Bannisters another try after experiencing poor food and service on previous visits. Sadly, no change this time. The new layout and decor does nothing to enhance what could and should be an excellent restaurant. New layout with high back banquette seating makes it dark and dismal. Previous layout was far better. We waited around five minutes for someone to arrive to show us to a table (12.20). The restaurant was approximately 50% full. Seated with menus, but advised the kitchen had run out of coffee and eggs! we then spent over 15 minutes trying to get our order taken. The table on our left walked out after 20 minutes. Order evenutally taken for two chicken supreme dinners. These finally arrived after a futher of 30 minutes. Chicken and Yorkshire puddings were almost cold. The Yorkshire pudding was black on the outside and soggy in the middle. Chicken not as tender as expected. (Frozen) Roast potatoes were rock hard on the outside. Vegetables were bordering on raw rather than al dente. However, the cheese sauce was nice. The Manager was certainly not managing the area and obviously there are still issues in the kitchen. Wrong meals been sent out/returned. Staff training required. The Hive is now closed for what I presume is yet another reincarnation. We used to enjoy the Fish restaurant, but that went from been very good to mediocre. The food and service over the past fews years has certainly gone downhill and for the catering to survive a huge over haul is required. We did mention all the above to the waitress and on paying our bill (which was reduced by 10%).

I have never had a fruit scone like it. It was solid without any fruit in the middle when sliced. It cost £3 plus. Dreadful. Will just have a drink in future or avoid the cafe.

In main restaurant mentioned on ordering that had serious allergy to egg. Meal arrived and asked for sauce to be checked ...and yes, it contained egg. Could have been very serious. Meal turned out to be cold and could not cut through the steak even with steak knife! Another diner received wrong dish and had to wait for replacement, by which time other diners had finished. Overall, just a really lousy experience.

I came here to look for bedding. It's a very large, very modern feeling store that is beautifully clean and well organised. There are also many staff, who are all happy to help you find what you're looking for. There is a cafe, a restaurant, an ice cream stall and a fish and chips restaurant. The restaurant is especially notable because it feels very classy and the food is great! Regards shopping, they have a very wide selection of clothing, homeware and stationary. To be honest,it's a fun place to visit even if just to pass a rainy day!

Excellent shopping at reasonable prices, worth visiting if you are in the area. Huge car park but no EV charging which is very disappointing. The Perfume shop only had one till so massive queues at peak times

We visited The Hive on Tuesday. As we were queuing up, we saw that the quiche was cheese and ham. We ordered a hot sandwich and the quiche. When the quiche came, I cut into it and realised it was a different filling to the one ordered. I sent it back as I did not like the filling. The waiter said he would bring back the correct quiche. Not too long after he came back for the second time. I cut into it, and yet again, it was the wrong filling. He said he had spoken to the chef who couldn't understand why the filling was different from what was supposedly made fresh that morning. He then offered to try again, and I said no and to just remove it from our bill. The hot sandwich was edible but not great. It was our 1st visit and will definitely be our last. Very disappointed. 🙄

We were in the restaurant for Sunday lunch. The restaurant manager, Nicola I think, was saying how busy she was (the restaurant was less that half full). She came to take our order and we had to repeat it three times. She said that she had problems with the order tablet as she said that she couldn't read it properly as the text was too small. As she was going away from our table I asked if she had remembered to order the onion ring side that we had requested. She had not, so she added it then. This lady was far too preoccupied telling people how busy she was to actually attend to the customers. When our food arrived it was barely lukewarm. My steak was overdone and tough, I had asked for medium rare. I could have soled my shoe with it. I had to ask for a steak knife as one was not offered. My guest had what was termed chicken supreme. This was in fact a piece of roast chicken! There was a yorkshire pudding on the plate which was burned at the top and completely raw everywhere else, therefore inedible. The chicken was lukewarm and the vegetables were rubbery. There were no place mats and so plates slide about on the table. When I went to pay a very polite young gentleman who's name I think was Connor asked if everything had been satisfactory. I said no and politely explained why. He apologised and took 10 per cent off the bill. I would rather have paid full price and had an edible meal. In all, a very poor experience .

Self service cafeteria. Very busy but lots of choice, sandwhiches, hot meals, cakes . We found a table right next to the window, a glorious view. The ideal tonic to a mid shop break.I had a chicken sandwhich with big chunks of chicken and stuffing but it was only on white bread. My aunt had a passable baked potatoe with a very fresh salad.

Too much going on. Everything is totally mixed up. Poor isle widths especially when faced with buggies and shopping baskets. When we arrived we went to their Café for a complimentary coffee. It was the worse coffee that we have experienced!

I have never been before and I don’t think I will go again. My experience was underwhelming and didn’t buy anything .The shop floor is covered in so much signage it’s like being on acid. It doesn’t make any sense because there’s so many signs is confusing to say the least. The merchandising is terrible and it’s impossible to find anything . I can only describe it like a jumble sale.My advise is stay at home and shop online or go to TX Maxx.

Very busy on 13 August as it was sale time. Got a Jeff banks shirt, Ben Sherman t shirt, Yankee candles all at good prices. Bargain of the day was a beach towel at £3 ideal for my grandson at high school. (£2.70 Cafe much better since refurb but they need more staff at peak times. Also why no packs of biscuits anymore?? Sign up to the priority card and get 10% discount at sale times. The card cost nothing and you also get free tea/ coffee at certain times via a voucher.

Just been for a cup of tea and cake ended up without cake as looks like all cakes are sliced the day before so are incredibly dry and are fairly expensive. Will remember to go before I get here next time. Definitely won’t be coming again. Think I might of said this before will have to remember for next time.

There has been a considerable change since we last visited, the coffee shop is now the only eatery on the first floor, the sit down restaurant that always smelled of fish has been moved to a separate building outside and the cafe had been extended and modernised. Now much more pleasant with carpets and some alcoves with bench seating. A good range of freshly made sandwiches, pastries and hot food all at a decent price and coffee served in a mug. Very convenient on site and a welcome break from a shopping frenzy!

The menu here is very varied for a restaurant in a store which is delightful. The cheese pie has the best flavour around but today it looked as if it was placed under the grill to heat it as the pastry at the edge was burnt. I still ate it but cut the pastry off. We also had a seafood salad which had a great variety of fish. It was fresh and attractively presented. I love the fact you can have a pot of coffee as a cup does not cut it. There was no room for dessert. This is not our first visit here as it is convenient and we like table service and we will return as the menu is surprisingly good.

Dined at the White Swan several times and without fail, the food and service is exceptional. If it were closer to us, we'd be there on a weekly basis, it really is that good! My only request is that there might be better drinks options for "designated drivers" - a 0% alcohol fizz or wine would be great, so you don't feel like you're missing out. I'm sure it would go down well :) Other than that - perfection!
