Branca Restaurant and Bar in Oxford

I liked their wide range of options for food. There is only one bad thing. Cafe is very small and it will be full very soon on busy days/hrs

We went to Branca for a family dinner on New Year’s Eve. It was a wonderful experience. Not only was the food amazing, but the service was incredible. They were so polite and fun and it was a welcoming environment. One of our pizzas was slightly late, and they apologised profusely and then took the pizza off the bill which was so kind. Would 100% return.

Good food, nice space. Cocktail leaned a bit sweet for me, but probably not for most. I was a little surprised not to see Fernet on the menu (I have no idea if there’s a connection to the name) but was happy to spy it behind the bar.

Overall it was a very good experience, the food is amazing, the attention was great and even so we had a misunderstanding with the reservation they resolved it quickly and we got a table. Was a lovely family dinner and hopefully we will come back again.

This was my second visit, first was a meal as part of a conference. This time we met with friends. Great menu, food and service.

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Been good since we first went around 10 years ago! Very good quality produce and meal choice. Lovely pizza and great pasta. My 8 year old says; “I love their bread..”

Relaxed atmosphere, family friendly (although felt important to respect non family diners) food well presented delicious and fresh.

Value for money was not great, food is okay but not outstanding.

I want to like Branca more than feels possible! I has all the right elements, but is let down by over-stretched service. It's always a warning, when you have to flag someone down for drinks after 15 minutes on arrival...

Lovely restaurant, good menu choices, nice food and very friendly staff

This was a very busy night. It was noisy and we couldn't hear each other speak on our table of 8. Food we ordered did not arrive together and we had to wait for two dishes which arrived several minutes after most of us had started our meals. The moroccan lamb was chewy and the coleslaw was the main feature on the plate, if I wanted coleslaw as a main I would ask for it ! The prawn linguine was swimming in a thin broth like sauce, we didn't order noodle soup! I won't revisit.

Lovely welcome from staff. Our table wasn’t quite ready as we were a bit early but had a good time at the bar with friendly and helpful staff. Good food and service when we did sit down. Great atmosphere. We were celebrating a big birthday and the birthday girl was given a glass of bubbles and a dessert with a candle. Nice touches, so thank you!

Love coming here. The cocktail barman makes a mean espresso martini and the food is very good

This lovely building is superb, the staff so friendly and professional, really good quality and fresh food! Came to take my mum for a special lunch while visiting feom Brazil and didnt disappoint. Also the deli is a must visit!

Really great experience on Friday night. Cheerful, attentive service, delicious selection of tasty food. Wine was good but quite expensive. Tiramisu was particularly good but we enjoyed all of the food. Restaurant seemed to thin out relatively early.

The staff were absolutely fantastic and pivotal to our lovely night! The food was delightful especially the king prawn bruschetta and pistachio ice cream!! Can’t wait to come back!

Lovely welcome as we came through the door . Beautiful restaurant with plenty of seating spaced well apart. Waiting staff were very attentive. Food was very scrummy , nicely presented and hot! And the bread and dipping oil on the table was a very nice touch. We enjoyed the whole experience and thought Branca was good value for money.

Branca is our favourite restaurant in Oxford. We had another fantastic meal and outstanding service from Francessco and Rob. Everything was perfect. Looking forward to our next visit very soon.

I do like this place and go regularly, but I'd recommend going after 9/10 in the morning. The cafe opens at 8, but they are still vacuuming and sweeping up the main cafe floor (where customers are sitting) for about 45 minutes. It's loud and chairs are moved around for it. For coffee or breakfast in the morning it's not a great time.

Lovely birthday lunch for my wife. Excellent service and super food enjoyed by all four of us! Would definitely recommend and we will be back!

The deli salads are daylight robbery! £18 for two small salads. They pack them with the heaviest items to up the weight. Couldn’t believe my ears when I heard £18!!

I ordered a red mullet dish (today’s special) and was underwhelmed. Besides that the portion of fish was tiny. Aside from that the rest of the dishes were decent. They give you delicious focaccia when you first sit down.

Great night at Branca's, as always. Very busy when we walked in at 1800, but made no difference to level of service or speed at which the food arrived. Staff lovely and welcoming. Its our go to restaurant in Oxford

Really lovely, went there for my birthday dinner with a group of friends. The ambiance was great and it made it feel really special. Would definitely recommend!

The cake was lovely but the service was appalling. The young man who serviced me was rude and told us to go elsewhere, when I asked to be seated inside. He then didn’t bring our cakes and tea to the table this was the service provided to all other paying customers. Branca teach your staff manners they cost nothing.

It was a wonderful lunch for our family gathering. I am grateful that they were able to accommodate my request to change my booking. The food was delicious, and I highly recommend the halloumi salad.

Went to dinner with my dad- we were sat outside because it was so busy but they kindly put on the outside heater and gave us blankets at the table. Our waitresses were top tier: friendly and charismatic as well as having productive and speedy service! The food was delicious - some of the better pizza I've had while here in the UK. Highly recommend the beef and fennel Ragu pasta and the Margherita pizza.

We had a tremendous time for our one year anniversary dinner. The free Prosecco to start was a lovely touch. Food was delicious and Faye (our waitress) was first class - very attentive! Have always loved Branca but will be recommending it even more highly now! A top evening.

Really lovely meal. Very tasty and full of flavour. Could have been a bit hotter but didnt impact us at all. We had mushroom risotto, linguine and a margarita pizza. Delicious. Would definitely return.

Branca was a fantastic choice. The service was first rate, and the food was delicious. An interesting menu meant we were spoilt for choice. Service was helpful and attentive, but not intrusive and was friendly and professional. The atmosphere was just want you would want from eating out on a Saturday - lively and jolly.

Just been for my birthday lunch. Our server was so lovely and welcoming. Food was great and plenty of it and a lovely atmosphere. I would definitely recommend.

Friday 20th September Our server was Faye, who I think is one of the nicest people I have ever met. She made sure every person at the table was happy with our orders and if something was not on the menu or available, she found a perfect alternative. There are good and fantastic serves, but I think Faye was far superior!! We all had a fabulous evening, which was mainly due to Faye. An enormous thank you to her. The food was also perfect! I had a classic margarita pizza with a sprinkle of cheese (I don't like too much cheese) and they did exactly that and it was delicious! We also ordered another pizza and the Vegan plant based burger which again was fantastic! Ps. It is dog friendly!!!! I hope this is seen by the relevant people and both Faye and the Chef's get the recognition they deserve! Thank you for a lovely evening!

Lovely food and great service. As usual temperature inside was too cold. I saw one lady in a hat and coat sitting eating dinner, she had obviously been before and this time dressed appropriately!!

Branca is great, as ever. the best brasserie in oxford and oxfordshire, and one of the best in the uk, always perfect. what is less perfect is the trouble one has to go through to post a review; open table make you recieve multiple codes via text and email, having already sent you an email asking for feedback. I get that they need to verify you, but their approach is petulant. almost gave up trying to post a review. anyway, put that aside, branca is brilliant, if you like brasseries, you'll love branca

Very disappointed sadly standards have dropped after coming here for years. Bread had run out and was clearly recycled, the coffee arrived cold and wasn’t good. The waitress was efficient but was clearly inexperienced and under pressure. We felt rushed to get out of the restaurant and it was not a relaxing experience. We will not be returning, a real shame as we have been a fan from the start of Branca.

Really delicious food. Of consistent quality. Wonderful relaxed but efficient service. Noisy, noisy buzz… you don’t need to be hard of hearing!

Really disappointing experience. All food in the deli is expensive, the service was slow and disinterested, I paid £15.80 for not much takeaway salad to only find massive big piece of plastic hidden inside the food when I got home. The server purposefully put the heaviest ingredients of the salad into the box &avoided other parts of the salad ingredients entirely i.e. added loads of potatoes but I had to ask can I also have some of the smoked salmon included in this salad, loaded up on the butter beans and I also had to ask can I have one of the half eggs with the butter beans as a key ingredient of that salad... I could get a restaurant sit in salad for the same size or bigger for £15.80 and not have plastic left in it, skimped on ingredients and someone who actually cared about customer service. On the positive, the taste of the salads I did have were delicious and the deli has a nice selection of deli and non deli items to buy. I am debating if it is worth going back or not.

Really nice place. Excellent whiskey sour. Ladies at the bar are very nice and friendly.

The food was very good with a somewhat restrictive Italian menu. The ambience was totally lacking in that the noise made social interaction virtually impossible!

I celebrated my birthday with my husband at Branca and we had such a great experience. I have several dietary restrictions (gluten, diary and fructose) and they made a great effort to accomodate them. Even I had a little surprise treat as a dessert (for free!) to blow the candle a make a wish. Thank you to Branca and its staff for making our celebration so enjoyable and safe for my food restrictions! We are planning to go back very soon ;)

An ideal and great place to visit with friends for a catch up, eat and dine or get together for laid back occasions in Oxford Jericho over the years, it is my local classic. The food, the atmosphere and the service is great, definitely recommend it.

The customer service was amazing. Really attentive and friendly staff which have a lot of initiative and kindness. Our server was Grace, and she really took care of us and made sure our experience was fulfilling. The food was also great. I strongly recommend the prawn linguine.. would also recommend desert. Everything 10/10 and will deffo be coming back

Have written reviews before on Branca which has great modern atmosphere and really friendly staff but were a little disappointed with the food last time but had a great meal this time. We opted for a burger but didn't want a large one. Being meat eaters we were reluctant to try the vegetarian smaller one but what a revelation! Couldn't tell the difference and it was delicious!! Thanks again for a great time and trying to help us remember the name of a local pub we had visited previously! See you next time we are in Oxford.

Nice sandwich for lunch, although not cheap ~£6. A tasty treat but can't afford it too often!

We had a table of 20 downstairs to ourselves, and were welcomed into the restaurant with smiles and warmth from the staff. The room was perfect for us, and has lovely original features including a brick fireplace big window, despite it being in the basement. The staff were very attentive and, despite us milling around catching up at the beginning, they were excellent at keeping our glasses full and remembering who had ordered what drink. We had pre-ordered our food, and on arrival they had put name labels with our orders on the table which was very helpful for all, and a lovely detail. I was very impressed with the food too - delicious and well presented. I would highly recommend this place for a group booking, and would come again. Thank you Branca!

We had a table in the gorgeous courtyard for my wife's birthday and took our young adult kids with us. We were well attended by the friendly staff and everyone found favourites to eat and drink. Branca always takes the time to wait and serve properly and they even brought a water bowl for our dog. A lovely place for a meal together.

This was a lovely way to spend Sunday lunch! Food was delicious and wine was some of the best we’ve tasted in a long time. The waitress was charming.

The staff at branca were incredible. So polite. Knowledgeable about the menu and very helpful with my wife’s allergen requirements (dairy and soy) and took so much time to be nice and polite to my 4 month old baby and made a fuss of her, Have visited before Will definitely visit again. The food was lovely but the staff made it just that much better thank you!

Quick dinner after a Jericho Comedy early show. Really well looked after by Faye. Branca never disappoints.

Went as a group and was at the underground room. This room was very stuffy and we didnt have enough staff coming to check on our needs. The starter gazpacho was nice but the lamb kebab was ok and the lemon tart was too sweet. I can imagine it will be different for smaller group menu but felt disappointed.

The food was lovely, we had lamb kebabs x 3, steak, prawn linguine and sausage ragu. All members of our party enjoyed their meals and said they were very tasty and cooked to perfection. The value for money is good. The service was very good. We had Toby as our waiter and he was lovely very friendly without being in your face and went out of his way to accommodate our needs and requests. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This was a retirement lunch and it was perfect. The champagne was chilling on the table when we arrived, the waitress got a vase for my flowers and was very efficient. We weren’t rushed at all and had a thoroughly pleasant afternoon, thank you very much.

Simply the best restaurant we’ve been to and go to regularly. Beautifully light and airy, tables are thoughtfully placed a good distance apart. The outside area is lovely too. Staff are friendly and attentive, thank you Toby for Sunday. Very sensitive about the low key birthday! Most importantly the food served at Branca is exceptional, not fussy, simply great ingredients, cooked well and a menu with variety. Will return again and again .

We really loved it here! We DJed here last night for Martin's wedding and had such a good time! The staff are so so kind and helpful and everything ran smoothly. 100% recommend for any party or wedding in Oxford!!

We picked this spot to have a family meal when in Oxford for my nephews wedding. My Mum was turning 80 and we wanted to have a meal together. We are a party of vegetarians, meat eaters and some picky people and two kids but Branca had something for us all. Lovely Italian food and beautiful cocktails (the Raspberry Cosmopolitan was lush). 2 of our party were late and there was no fuss. We were served by a lovely Italian man (long hair tied up) and he was very attentive to my Mum. Thank you Branca for helping to make my Mums day special. Hope to return some day.

Food and service good as always but leaving doors open front and back made it really chilly so we left before desert or coffee. Bit of a shame really as evening cut short.
