Brittania Inn in Oxford

No haber visitado Oxford antes de venir de viaje por unos días y encontramos este fantástico pub. Tenía un gran ambiente y estaba ocupado cada vez que visitamos. El personal era muy amable y servicial. Parece que todos aquí se conocen. Todos los clientes eran muy amables y el lugar tiene un ambiente realmente encantador. El Stella Artois en borrador aquí es lo mejor que hemos encontrado, muy animado y obviamente cuidan bien sus bombas. Además de esto era más barato para un par de pintas en nuestro pub local rey verde. Si viviera en Headington, este sería nuestro pub local. Muy acogedor. Muy recomendable.

Primera vez desde la renovación, todo lo que puedo decir es “Me encanta” pasó con mi tío Frank por un par Guinness. ¡Terminamos teniendo nuestra comida favorita en el brit, Fish and chips! Hayley y Faye si recuerdo bien, hicieron que mi tío y sus compañeros se sintieran muy bienvenidos. Volveremos para el cumpleaños de Jim.

El pub Thi no debería ofrecer cócteles. No está a la altura. Mi hermana y yo pedimos un Moquito cada uno como un regalo para comenzar un fin de semana muy especial. Eran repugnantes. Sin ingredientes frescos. Los cambiaron por otros 2 cócteles que los vi hacer de ingredientes realmente baratos. Eran horribles también. Deben dejar los cócteles en lugares más elegantes que utilicen ingredientes de calidad y capacitar al personal para hacerlos.

We have been coming for about 4 weeks now because we liked the pub and food. Then we came in today and brought more family with us. There was a table big enough for 6 of us, but there was a reserved notice on the table. The time had gone past 30 minutes, and it was allowed to be late for the table from when the table was reserved for, so we sat there. Whilst we were at the bar ordering our food and drink, I was told that my family members were told to "get off the table." The people had turned up. Rather than put the other people on another table that had turned up much later than the time reserved, my family had been moved to a smaller crampt table. When I spoke to the staff they said, "Oh they phoned up and they said they would be late and we have only just picked that up" OK so we moved and waited for our food that came out in dribs and drabs. The stake we ordered finally came out and was burnt. It was meant to be Medium. So we asked for it to be done again, and the staff just couldn't be bothered. The waiter was so moody and took the stake and said he would get it replaced. The replacement took over 30 minutes, and when it came out, it was also burnt and not medium. In the end, the meal was not good and spoilt by the lack of good customer service. We won't be back.

At the Britannia inn I had a great experience from dining in to having a few drinks , the service was really good from those who work there from the brilliant bar staff to the amazing tasteful chefs! Overall good experience would definitely recommend & go back

Things have changed now faye is back and the kitchen is back up and running and the staff seem alot more friendly and happy in there work place Keep up the good work We come every week

Took family for a meal on the 20th. Parents are from Stoke on Trent. The visited for the day. We use the app and love the offers!!! We use the Ember Inns in stoke too. Dad and I had a pint before leaving knowing we were going to take advantage of the free alcohol free Guinness on the app. As all 4 of us have the app, dad and I were going to have the 4 Guinness as we were driving and mum and the wife had their drinks. We ordered the drinks whilst chatting at the bar, scanned the QR code for the free AF Guinness then ordered food. After eating, and I will say, food is great, never had to say a bad word about the food, drinks or service, mum and the wife went to order the next round, it was only when my wife questioned AF Guinness on tap?? That the error was known. The AF Guinness was canned. We had alcohol Guinness… on both rounds. Dad had drank close to half, by the time the manager came over to explain. He decided to swap for the AF Guinness as he was driving back to Stoke. Luckily my wife is doing dry January and drove us all home. She did have a sip of my Guinness before we knew it had alcohol in it thinking it wouldn’t make a difference. Error. With the alcoholic drink we had at home and if not noticed, 2 alcohol Guinness in the pub, that would have put myself and Dad over the legal limit not to mention dads 2hr drive home on M40, M42, M6… notoriously busy motorways. I think more training for the bartenders is in order. I understand this was a one off, and we WILL use the pub again!! Though next time, we will be more diligent when ordering. GREAT PUB, GREAT FOOD!! I 100% stick to that!!! Just an error on our visit.

Popular pub on main London Road. Indifferent service. Asked for Curry Night menu but was told it was on the app. Has need for Manager/Landlord with presence. Lacks ambiance.

Went for festive menu with friends, ordered sea bass with potato gratin, asparagus, steamed greens, what I actually got was sea bass (cooked very well) frozen roast potatoes (which I don’t like), small cubed carrot and parsnip with a huge mound of cabbage and leak. Almost totally different meal. The young man serving was really nice and went back to see what happened but they had no potato gratin and no asparagus, would have been nice to have had the option to choose something different, although was offered a free drink, puddings were very nice. bar staff and waiting staff really nice and professional but I would think twice about eating there again. Nice cosy atmosphere when we went. Good choice of tonic water flavours!

Having pre booked table for 4 two weeks prior, on arrival no service. Having waited without service for 30 minutes considerable time. Left disgruntled and went to White Heart which provided lunch,

Called in after an evening appointment for something to eat. Wasn't all that hungry so just had breaded prawns and garlic ciabatta with cheese. Prawns were hard as overcooked and ciabatta was stone cold. Both served on stone cold plates. Nobody returned to ask how the meal was. Meaning a visit to the bar to ask for someone to come over. Acting manager did so and offered to refund or replace. I wanted a replacement. After yet another lengthy wait, out it came, on a plate that must have come out of the fridge. Again, no return to ask how the food was. Left most of it as couldn't be bothered. Another 20 minutes passed and out came the Eton mess sundae. Two very small scoops of ice-cream loaded with loads of whipped cream. Two, max three pieces of meringue and looked as if it had been made 29 minutes ago. All in all, a poor experience, one that I won't be enduring ever again.

Went to Brittania inn and again kitchen closed through lack of staff it happens to many times and has been going on for a long time EMBER INNS sort it out!

Popped in for my lunch break, service was speedy and the young lady behind the bar was friendly. Food came out quickly and was perfect. Thank you so much.

Arrived with my Mum for dinner on Monday 21st August only to be informed that they are not serving food on Mondays or Tuesdays until mid September!!! On our way out I looked for the sign informing customers of this- sign was on a door that was open so unless you walk in looking at the wall no one will see it- signage is needed at the bar. You’d have thought after Covid places would be glad of the business- obviously not.

I had the most awful lunch at the Britannia. As usual there were 5 meat dishes and just 2 vegetarian options and I went for the linguine with Mediterranean vegetables. The whole dish was over cooked and dry. There was not evidence of olive oil, no basil, hardly any feta cheese. The vegetables were mashed up and overcooked. It was dry and horrible. None of the salt sellers in the pub worked and the chips were doughy. Then my flat white afterwards was so white and frothy it was more like a cappuccino. What a waste of money!

Booked a table for 7 4 adults 3 children for birthday lunch Got phoned one hour before my reservation received a phone call to say that my reservation had been cancelled due to 2 chefs not Thurmond up to work I’ve heard horror stories about this happening but honestly thought it would not happen to me The brewery needs to look at this pub soon and get a managed to run it that can run it properly before it’s to late and it closes down I also would add the person that phoned me sounded like he didn’t care one bit

The service is absolutely appalling. The disabled toilet is a disgrace. If you want to be ignored this is the place to be. Ten of us will not be coming back
