Bun House in City of London, Westminster

Bought a combo of 3 for £11. Pig, Beef and Chicken. The best one was definitely the beef bun. Not a fan of lemon but I love chicken, I was hoping it wouldn’t taste that much of lemon on the chicken bun and unfortunately it did. It would have tasted better without a lemon flavor in it. But in an overall review of the place, is good. You can eat in but Chinatown is a place that is normally crowded with people, so I suggest you be patient and just wait a little bit in the line and eat outside.

Very tender bao with Custard filling, which was incredible, be careful because it drips. There is a line to order takeaway but it goes very quickly, as a starter to snack on something before eating it is great. Recommended and obligatory on a gastronomic route.

Buns are soo good. We had Custard, black sesame and lamb and they’re “Flavourful” There is seating upstairs as well. Decorations are beautiful. They run queue quite slow, maybe intentionally as long queue makes the place looks popular(but it worth the wait) or maybe buns take time before they get ready. But once we orders food is served instantly. So quick. Staff are nice, polite, greet very well and helpful trying to fit us in. But actually there is plenty of space upstairs. They just run things slowly. Price is really reasonable. Love this place

The food was really disappointing. It felt like high quality frozen food. Menu was not various & most over priced. I’m a big fan of authentic Chinese food but I don’t think I will go back again. Most of customers were non-Chinese or just to buy takeaway buns. I should have noticed it before I sat down.

We tried a takeaway pig bun for a snack. The texture of the bao was great, the meat seemed quality and the seasoning was good.

The most delicious pork buns! We were very lucky to get a table on a weekend night and the service was excellent despite the place being busy with dine in and takeaway orders

The savoury buns were an absolute 10/10, so was the sour plum lemonade. My favourite was the chicken, which was super lemon grassy and delicious. Will definitely be picking them up to takeaway again. The buns themselves were fluffy and soft. The custard buns are an easy pass for me. Though the flavour was very good, the texture of the custard was far too thin and gravy-like. It also made it very difficult to eat.

Very average but I have been spoiled by the bao buns in 626 in LA. I got the char sui bao (pork bun) for take away, ate it immediately, and simply wasn’t impressed. I think it just tastes and feels kinda.. commercial? The bread was soft and light but tasted almost over processed? The filling was.. fine and it was a good bun:filling ratio, but the flavor was again, just average and underwhelming. Separately, it wasn’t even hot, just slightly warm, which was disappointing when it was 24* F outside you expect to bite into a hot bao and have some steam escape. Nope. Overall, it served its purpose as an easy grab and go snack (easy to eat in 5 bites while walking), but don’t expect to be wowed. It didn’t leave me wanting to come back for more, and for £3.8, I just don’t see the relval. (I am curious about their French toast so many next time I’ll try that)

Ordered the Kaya french toast and custard bun, both were very nice and would definitely order again. Couldn’t really taste the Kaya flavour in the french toast but it was right amount of sweetness, moist and paired well with the clotted cream. The portion size for £7.5 was great value especially for central london. The custard bun was nice, warm and soft with the filling a subtle sweetness. The queue was little long but this one was worth the hype in my experience.

I do not recommend this place. It taste like a soggy eggy bread. It’s not even that sweet. I could make better at home. Avoid it all costs. Wasn’t worth the money.

Long Distance For Custard Buns I always order custard buns whenever enter this restaurant. How can you forget that hot lava custard filling? As a reminder, eat the bun slowly or the filling will leak. Always keep the thicker side face towards yourself while eating, as the top and the bottom have different thickness.

Very good. We had the lamb buns and they were delicious. The service is very fast. However, we recommend going in the evening as there are few people.

First time here. Got a snarky comment from the worker while I’m reading the menu “we like people who know what they want”. She said this to the lady I welcomed to go before me since I knew I’d take longer to read it since it’s my first time there. That’s was just unnecessary and rude. Just replace the menu with a ‘no new customers’ sign then🤡

Truly just okay , wasn’t terrible but probably wouldn’t come back. The milk tea tasted of nothing , buns okay & the wonton to sour. Good for people with no perspective of authentic hongkong cooking & milk tea .

The buns are really tasty! It's totally worth the Tiktok Type. We recommend the Crispy Tofu! One of the best tofu we have ever eaten!!

The buns were not very warm and tasted like from frozen bun. The foods are too sweet in general and nothing special, seems like Chinese but actually not authentic Chinese at all. Not even a bottle of water was served, while other tables clearly had water served for free.

It tastes exactly as you would imagine. Delicious. The seasoning of the different buns is perfectly tailored to the type of meat.

One of my favourites in Chinatown! Their hoisin noodles are stunning, alongside their lamb, beef and custard buns. Love to sit upstairs with friends too and dine in. Service usually goes pretty quick despite its popularity!

Very friendly staff, good atmosphere and food, plus comfortable, cozy seating (when you can get one, but an effort was made to ensure first come first served). However the menu should have pictures attached since we didn't expect the French Toast to be so small (in picture).

Had a meal here the other day. Service needs improvement as we had to keep on calling the waiters for assistance. Food taste did not meet my expectation. They look nice but do not taste as nice, sorry.

Narrow, and apparently popular, restaurant specializing in sweet wheat buns with 6 different fillings. Personally, it's too sweet for me, and it drowns out the flavor of the filling. But the wontons in vinegar were steaming hot and delicious!

Very popular restaurant in Chinatown, specializing in its famous little soft round bun with your choice of toppings It was obviously excellent but you shouldn't stop at the bun, the small menu contains some nuggets (sesame noodles, dim sum, fried tofu...) A real treat, be careful at peak times you could be faced with a huge queue

Love popping in here for a bun to take away. Only knocked a star as their prices have gone up quite a bit and the quality has slightly declined. so the value isn’t really there for me anymore. Will still get on occasion but not as often due to the price

Tried their signature custard bun and it tasted good. Had a queue when I visited. Service was quick. They don't accept cash payments.

The custard bun are absolutely a must, along with the crispy tofu. The environment is warmed by an original 60's Chinese rock, which sets the cafeteria mood. Friendly and efficient service.

To go or enjoy in the small restaurant. The anteroom has large wooden steam pots that look great. We had a savory chicken thigh and the sweet custard. The sweet one was the favorite, this sauce. Simply delicious and definitely try it when you are in Chinatown.

We chose the deal of 3 buns for £11: chicken, beef, and pork. We were served very quickly and very kindly. The one we liked the most was the chicken bun, although the beef and pork buns were also very good. The packaging is very nice and clearly indicates the flavor of each bun

I got the regular lava buns , the bun is really fluffy and delicious, the custard is good with a good texture aswell Perfect snack/dessert Will definitely visit again

Very delicious baos, summarized in that the beef one is mild, the chicken one has a very good curry touch, the pork one is sweet because of the barbecue sauce and the lamb one is quite spicy, but they are very good. The price is high if you are going to eat just that, the staff recommends 2 and 1/2 or 3, and continue through Chinatown for a walk and eat something else and dessert

During 4 days in London I returned to this place 3 times. High quality bun, fresh and well made product. I was really happy to have discovered this place. I recommend it with all my heart. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A good place in Chinatown to eat bao buns and other traditional Chinese food. The only thing is that there is not enough space.

It’s a bit pricey compared to alternatives in the area, but overall good service, delicious buns, and delicious alternatives in case you want to complement with something else. Recommended

I tried the pig bun on the night of 23rd of November and I got food poisoning. I have been sick since then, not able to leave to toilet.

I ordered rice and tofu to eat in. Only the tofu came and it wasn't great. I also ordered buns to take away and they were really good.

The buns are amazing although the mass is bigger than the inside, the taste is delicious. They could bring them even more hot as it is only mild warm.

Place found through social media recommendations and easily found while walking around Chinatown. Bun taken to take away after 5 minutes in line since we arrived quite early on site (until around 8pm in fact there wasn't a large number of people), we tried the beef bun, chicken bun and pig bun, all good especially the 'last. Not too expensive for a quick snack.

We have been today and they served us super quickly, the bathrooms were incredible and of a considerable size. We recommend it to anyone who likes baths

We ordered the box of the 3 bao bread. We chose the chicken and curry, the beef and the egg yolk one, all three were very good and the bread is perfect, the egg yolk one is sweet but it was also very delicious. We ordered it to take away but there are also tables where you can eat.

If you like bread baos I recommend it, we tried the egg yolk one, the curry chicken and beef one, my recommendation in that order, all three cost us 11 pounds

A very small place, they make some great Japanese buns with very different flavors. There is a long line but they go fast, it is worth doing it. A good snack

Cute little shop. Didn’t like the bun much. The milk tea was water down. But their kaya toast was banging

I came in with high expectations. BAD IDEA A lot of fame, but I really didn't think it was anything spectacular for the prices it has. Plus it's a super small place and I felt like they were kicking me out because they have to clear tables so more people can enter. I left there and went to eat at the restaurant across the street.

The beef bun was very good. The egg one is too sweet for my taste. Maybe a little expensive for the amount of food we ate, but it's more or less standard London price.

Very good and juicy buns. We tried the pork, beef and lamb although I would highlight the wontons. Great spicy sauce, homemade pasta and shrimp filling with a brutal flavor. It is small although there are some tables inside, many people order takeout. Fast and attentive service

Food was good. Service was quick and people was nice. Depending on the time, it gets quite busy for both takeaway and dine in. So lot of queues. But the food is generally always hot.

Excellent! Nothing to say, everything is made in an artisanal way, the bao have an exquisite taste, the best baos we have ever eaten. Be careful with passing times, if you pass during meal times, there may be a long wait, but it is worth the detour. I highly recommend!

We were able to eat inside after 15 minutes of waiting. Everything is very well organised, the take away packaging is really cool. As for the food, the buns were really excellent as were the wantons. Compliments!

As I walked up, there were lots of people queuing. Upon asking some people some wanted to sit in and some takeaway, it wasn't organised. I ordered a bun to take away. The lady serving me was nice and very busy. The bun was nice, but for a savoury one, it was a tad sweet.
