Buonissimo in Birmingham

recently this place was really nice and i had nothing but great things to say, unfortunately we came here not long ago and the food was just so disappointing. I always loved the food but i have found it to be lacking flavour, presentation and the amount you get and what you get for the price is outrageous. my starter was £9 it was 1 piece of romaine lettuce with 3 slices on mozzarella and 3 sundried tomatoes. £5 for 3 pieces of bread? come on, who are you trying to kid! my main was not nice either didn't taste great, tastes frozen cheap and boiled!! everything has a boiled taste. Such a shame i have always given this place great praise but not any more. I saw recent reviews all stating the same about the quality of food becoming terrible and the price going up. It really is NOT worth your money I can tell you that for free. hearing how they don't take there allergy safety seriously has made me very concerned, I am also gluten free and it makes sense now to why i felt unwell afterwards. If you have any allergies please please please do not come here! trying to get the waitress attention was a task, ignored or walked past you. the next tables were so loud me and my partner couldn't even speak or hear each other! we had our mains and decided to get out of there fast! overall my view on this place has changed dramatically and me and my partner will NEVER return to this place again. may as well go to pizza express the food will be 1000x better.

I don't think all the forks and knives on the table are clean after "seeing" how the waitress handled our unused forks and knives. She's smart and did it with her back facing our table. I don't think the manager didn't know about it. The manager and waitress were friendly. But the food didn't taste fresh. Not tasty I would say. I wonder why there are so many good reviews... I ate there on Christmas Eve everything was good from the starter to the first course to the second course to the dessert to the coffee all super mouth-watering...I will be back...ala grande bay Piero

The service was good. Very kind people working here. Unfortunately the food was mostly bland. likely not to return as a the cost was high and the quality was mid at best.

Service was slow which meant that people in our group were eating at different times. We couldn't buy our drinks separately and there was a 10% charge added which it appeared that we couldn't get removed. We found plastic in our ice cream - weren't charged for the ice cream though as an apology.

visiting Buonissimo Restaurant is always a very enjoyable time with fantastic food and service. I recently celebrated my birthday there with a friend and nothing was too much trouble the attention to detail and the service was superb.

I’m celiac, they assured me Gluten free, I’m now really I’ll, the dose must have been massive, your allergy needs clearly not taken seriously enough, the food (meat) clearly pre cooked frozen import, How they’ve got so many good reviews, must be fake.

Very good as always, friendly welcome, good service and of course very good cooking.

Overhead the manager giving the waitress a hard time because we didn’t order their expensive wine with our meal. Food was fine was but let down by this behaviour. Not everyone drinks

First time visiting 15/10, and what a thoroughly pleasant surprise!!! Food was excellent (I had the panzanella starter and conchiglie and ox cheek special, other half had swordfish and bracciole), service was exceptional. Definitely recommend!!!

It’s been a few years since we last visited but this restaurant is just as lovely as ever. Great service, staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere is cosy and inviting. The menu is excellent, and the quality and flavour of the food outstanding. We visited for a special celebration and will definitely be back as often as we can because despite living on the other side of the city, this place is worth the drive!

It was mine and my friends' first visit to Buonissimo and we had a great experience. We were seated straight away by very friendly waiting staff. Our table was upstairs in a smaller room that had a really nice relaxed atmosphere. At no point did we feel we had to wait too long to be attended to. Our drinks order was taken quickly and we were given just enough time to order. My partner is gluten free and was impressed thst he was given a separate menu rather than having to look up his options online which happens often. The starters were really tasty. The olives were amazing and we ordered shared platters with a really great range of authentic meats and cheeses. We were all really pleased with our mains. I had the chicken with oyster mushrooms and spinach thst was really tasty. The sea bass and pork belly were also beautifully cooked and delicious. I would definitely order the pork next time! Overall we had a fantastic evening and I really couldn't fault the wonderful service and the good food and wine.

My black ink squid risotto was fantastic despite a lack of prawns . Tiramisu to die for - better than my hols in Italy ! Sadly all my friends had the traditional beef dish which just tasted like meatballs I make at home - very average .

A very busy Saturday night and had to wait for our table. From then we had a very enjoyable evening. Good food nice staff well worth a visit.

We have been dining at Buonissimo for many years and it never disappoints.The food is consistently excellent with wonderful service. This visit was a little noisy, but to be expected as it was a Saturday night and busy. This didn’t detract from the meal at all. Delicious!

They had just 1 table available for walk in on a Wednesday and it sounds like i was lucky they had it. And that i think says more about how awesome the food and service was than i could. One of the best meals ive had in birmingham, all 3 courses were stellar. Will definitely be back.

Great food and exceptional value on the early evening menu, 2 courses for £22.95 and 3 courses for £24.95. The service at Buonissimo is unfailingly cheerful and welcoming. We'll be back.

Beautiful place, staff were amazing, very friendly and food was amazing.

We visited Buinissimo on Saturday afternoon, it wasn't very busy due to hot weather. We were welcomed straight away and shown to a table in the window. The staff are ready to help with menu options and suggestions, we ordered Spaghetti alle vongole & a Mozzarelline all Puglirse as a starters and it was delicious. We then went for braciola Di manzo and pollo Panna fungi E agilo al forno for our mains and we demolished it. We had no room for dessert after but will definitely come again and leave room for dessert.

Enjoyed an impromptu lunch at the only Italian Restaurant in Brum worth 5stars. We are standing customers but since Covid less so. Over many years Matteo and his team manage to maintain the highest standards of service and cuisine. How fortunate for us to have you in the neighbourhood. See you soon Denise & John

Staff were very nice. The food and the atmosphere were excellent. It was my friend’s birthday which was recognised with a candle and “Happy Birthday” singing. I will definitely be coming back and have already started to spread the word of what a great restaurant this is.

Fabulous authentic Italia food. Went with two children and they loved it. The service was speedy which is great when you have children. It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Very welcoming staff. Haven’t been here since having children as we wanted them to truly appreciate the food. I am pleased to say it was as amazing as it was when we last visited. Great restaurant and great value for money. Highly recommend.

Second time as early diners. Two of the party ordered chicken that came with cabbage and potatoes. Both the chicken and cabbage were tough and inedible. Pity as our first visit was excellent.

We visited with friends and chose our food from the early dinning menu. All our food choices were delicious and great portion sizes. I had the grilled sea bream which was amazing and melted in the mouth. Also a very warm welcome and great service. Definitely a restaurant to keep returning to!

We love this local-to-us restaurant. Matteo is the perfect host and all his serving staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. We went last Thursday evening with friends, and we all enjoyed a terrific meal. The menu changes seasonally, and we were still on the "winter" menu, but it is due to change in April. Beautifully cooked food, very ample portions, beautifully presented and everything was delicious! I should also add that Matteo keeps a superb (and very reasonably priced) wine list. Nothing is too much for any of the staff, i.e little tweaks to some of the dishes (e.g. ordinary aioli with the fritto misto because my husband is allergic to cuttlefish ink!), a side salad instead of potatoes .... who needs Michelin star restaurants when you've got Buonissimo on your doorstep!

Held my mom's 80th birthday meal at Buonissimo last night. Had the upstairs exclusively for the 30 attendees and what a fantastic night it was. We were allowed a singer for background music too which was fabulous in itself. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Service was excellent - the staff were attentive and friendly and they really helped the party along. Food was fab, and excellent value for money. Incredible effort was made at this restaurant to ensure a good time was had by all. Superb - thank you all at Buonissimo for a fabulous night, could not have asked for more. Thank you all. x

An excellent evening , friendly staff , good food and ambience

The restaurant is very traditional which is a good thing. The staff are well informed and attentive. The food is good and details many dishes that many not be in your traditional Italian restaurant.
