We booked the outdoor hut experience which is supposed to be heated, outdoors and very beautiful. The hut was not heated (they said it was broken), the lights weren’t working (again, broken). The experience was pretty much eating lunch in the cold with blankets on our laps. When we got up to leave, we noticed other booths had lights and heat, and there were no other occupants! So we could have moved to another booth, but we were never given that option. We asked multiple times if we could get the heat and lights on and not once were we offered to move to a work booth. The food was very good, but difficult to enjoy with the ruined experience. See my pictures for the food and lack of lights and heat. The manager on duty was also very rude to us from the moment we sat down. He was serving us initially but there was obviously something wrong. He barely spoke to us and responded without any tone in his voice. We will never be back here and I would highly caution anyone who is booking here, to expect poor service, and do not book the outdoor hut experience.

Very expensive lunch and was okay. I hate to leave less than 5 but this team could shape up a little. The lunch we booked in one of the winter season huts was very expensive and just okay. We had two people helping us, one we felt we had to tip toe with as he seemed grumpy, the other was very kind and helpful. We asked several times if the lights could be turned on and the heater activated, they never did. Then told us they were broken, as we departed we noticed several other vacant canopy tables like ours vacant, lit up and heated. Why didn’t they move us? The restaurant was 15% occupied on a Saturday lunch. Maybe I see why now. The view is beautiful and the pork chop was delicious.

I understand this is a meat restaurant, but I am a vegetarian who attended with 10 other meat eating friends. I ordered the only vegetarian dish on the menu - a vegetable pot pie in a ‘creamy herb sauce’ from the ‘mains’ section. What arrived was essentially a TINY portion of chickpea and kidney bean stew in a tomato sauce with a pastry cylinder on top, served to me in a small bowl. I had not been warned that you would need to order your own sides by the waiter and so had no potatoes, salad etc. I didn’t order anything additional as everybody’s food had arrived and frankly I felt mortified to have drawn attention to it. I am absolutely horrified that this cost £22 when a roast with meat and all trimmings cost my friends £28. There was absolutely nothing special about my dish that could warrant it costing that much, all ingredients in my meal were low-cost and something I could whip up quite easily at home. In addition, we ordered drinks which took 40 minutes to arrive - had to order them multiple times as it seemed they’d forgotten, but then multiples were delivered at random intervals. I know December is a busy time but the service we received was so sub-par and should have been much better when paying for high-end food. Roasts don’t arrive with gravy and had to be ordered separately - that said, my friends seemed to be satisfied with their food and the sticky toffee pudding was delicious if you’re willing to spend £10. On behalf of the veggie/vegan friends who don’t want to be excluded at gatherings - please bring some more inclusive and exciting dishes to your menu for us. It’s not difficult!

While the food was ok and the staff were pleasant , the service was just too slow. The cost of the starters aren’t worth it. The porterhouse steak is well prepared and the sides weee also very good. Don’t bother with the puddings, better off going to a pub and getting it done how it’s meant to be. Last issue was waiting 20 mins to receive the bill and a further 15 to pay. Extremely noisy in there as sound bounces around the restaurant but for me it’s ok.

I cannot fault the food, that was amazing, but maybe a little pricey. But the location, and the view of Tower Bridge is probably why it was a little more expensive than other establishments that are just as good. There was a large group of middle aged men being loud and obnoxious, but thankfully they were leaving not long after we had arrived. The waiter let down the entire service however, he corked our bottle of wine and didn't offer to replace it. And he was also a little pushy whilst we were eating which said to me he was trying to rush us out of there, despite us being well within our two hour slot (I think we'd been there a little after an hour). Trying to take plates when one of us hadn't finished, rushing over with a dessert menu when we were still chewing the food of our main. So that does take a star out of the whole experience. But, the food was amazing and thoroughly recommend.

I was shocked. I came for my birthday and my friend ordered a medium rare steak, came to us as fully rare and freshly bleeding. We asked to cook it further and it came back more or less the same. The steaks are small on a large plate and the value isn’t really worth it. The waiter was quite blunt so didn’t really care much about helping us. I also added a comment during my reservation about my birthday and they didn’t do anything, until we complained to the manager about everything that happened. We just left. Never coming back. An Unforgettable Dining Experience at Butler’s Wharf Chop House My partner and I recently enjoyed a fabulous evening at Butler’s Wharf Chop House, and it was truly exceptional. We dined on the fillet and ribeye with field mushrooms and garlic butter and the skinny chips. We chose the béarnaise as a sauce for the fillet and the chophouse fatted gravy for the ribeye. All was cooked to perfection. The flavors were incredible, and we paired our steaks with a delightful Bordeaux and Malbec, which complemented our meals beautifully. Sitting outside with a stunning view of the iconic London Bridge was a highlight of our visit. The ambiance was perfect, providing a wonderful backdrop for our meal. Additionally, the cleanliness of the bathrooms was impressive, adding to the overall positive experience. Butler’s Wharf Chop House is a gem on the banks of the Thames, offering not just a meal, but a memorable experience. We can't wait to return for another fantastic evening!

Fantastic barman - friendly and making interesting non-alcoholic options. Fries were superb. Told we would have to wait 30+ mins for steaks, which seemed very strange given restaurant was less than half full. Then they appeared in under ten minutes - 2 different cuts but a consistent theme; only tasting of cremation. Not overcooked inside, just wrecked on the outside. Peppercorn sauce had never seen a peppercorn in its life, was split and watery. Found manager, he offered to remake the dishes. They came out - better, but still just tasting of bitter char rather than delicious maillard goodness. Sauce wasn’t split but was still watery, maybe a pre-made thing rather than freshly done in the kitchen. Staff very friendly and polite but just not very competent or well trained. When the bill came, there was a 10% discount for complaint, which was overcome by the 13.5% “discretionary” charge. The steaks were badly butchered, covered in silver-skin, and cooked badly. And for £5 more per steak than the best we’ve ever had at Fallow in London. Oh, and the grease stain on my wife’s trousers from when the waiter dropped fries on her is bound to come out… eventually! Obviously just there to scam tourists with a “premium” pretence. Give it a miss.

Chop House - not what it once was. We were looking forward to having a nice relaxed sunday meal at the Chop House. We regularly dined there in back in its heyday. Sadly the charm, high-end service and quality food is no more. We both ordered the roast beef (after several attempts to summon a waiter) and enjoyed a slightly over salted, luke warm plate of food. It took several more attempts to order dessert and a very long wait to get the bill. at £50 per head without anything to drink beyond tap water we were expecting more. Sadly we will not be returning.

We were a little unsure about visiting Butlers Wharf Chophouse after reading some negative reviews recently. Nevertheless, we decided to do it because we celebrated our anniversary there almost 25 years ago - and I can only say: it was the right choice! From the start we were greeted very warmly and were allowed to choose a table. The service was consistently attentive and warm. Our waiter promptly brought us a bottle of water and two aperitifs, which promised to be a good start. Our starters, the longhorn beef tartare and the St. scallops on celery purée, were excellently prepared and beautifully presented. For the main course we chose the burger and the beef fillet with garlic mushrooms, both very tasty and cooked to perfection. A little surprise followed when we were served a tart as the house's anniversary greeting - a really nice gesture. The evening was pleasant throughout and we felt well looked after. A little research revealed that there has been a recent management change and prices have increased a bit, which probably explains some of the recent negative reviews. For us, however, the evening was a successful return to this special place. The only point of criticism: the prices for aperitifs and cocktails were a bit high. Nevertheless, we would love to come back!

Left feeling a bit cheated and still hungry. £30.00 for a child’s sized meal which was a little on the cold side as well. Never again shame as a lovely view just a little more care and a few more vegetables and hot would have made all the difference. Beautiful location, excellent and friendly service by our server, over priced food and unfortunate bout of food poisoning. When we arrived, we were told to go to reception to then be seated. By the entrance, was a till area which looked like a host point so we stood there for 5 mins with no one directing us to the actual reception which was tucked around the corner (until we enquired at the bar). We requested a table outside and our server was very accommodating; offering us blankets, finding out any information we requested about the wine available, altering a meal to suit my dad’s carnivore/keto dietary preference. No faults there! I had: steak tartare and sausage roll. My dad had: steak tartare and beef burger. Steak tartare wasn’t the nicest I’ve had, but nonetheless I did finish it off! We both said the texture was a bit slimier than we have had before, but we just put it down to our own personal preference. I would have preferred more seasonings, we both said we would have liked a bigger egg yolk. The pork belly? sausage roll was very lack lustre, very small (but this was in the small bites section so understandable), no different in taste than a standard supermarket sausage roll with a blob of apple sauce on the side. Nothing special about the apple sauce, again was just the stuff you get off the shelves, didn’t really enjoy it as a combination. Dad’s beef burger was great, he loved that it was grass fed beef and as requested he didn’t have the bun or sauce so he was happy and I had his chips so I was happy too! We dined on Thursday evening, and by Saturday we both were suffering from diarrhoea, stomach pains, 1 or 2 sleepless, very feverish nights and nausea. I had to miss a days work as a result. The only thing we both ate was the tartare so it must of been that dish. It’s a real shame as this was a birthday treat! We’re from down the road in Brighton so don’t frequent London very regularly, but I think I’ll avoid this place going forward.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to follow up on my recent complaint regarding my deeply unsatisfactory dining experience at your establishment. While I appreciate the partial refund I received for the frozen sea bass and the prawn cocktail, upon further reflection, I believe a full refund is warranted. The entire meal was compromised due to the initial error of serving uncooked fish, and the subsequent handling of the situation was far from satisfactory. To reiterate the key points: My "cooked" sea bass was, in fact, frozen solid. The replacement prawn cocktail took an unreasonable amount of time to arrive, and was itself meager and disappointing. I was charged for mange tout that was inedible due to its contact with the frozen fish. I am now suffering from food poisoning as a direct result of consuming the frozen fish. The entire experience was not only appalling but also resulted in physical illness. I believe that a full refund, along with compensation for the distress and inconvenience I have endured, is the only appropriate resolution. I request your reconsideration of this matter and await your prompt response. Sincerely,

Sunday Lunch booking, Only Roast Chicken left at 2pm, So we had to opt for that, arrived on cold plates, vegetables barley warm anyway, and thimble of gravy. Hardly worth the money . starters and desserts were ok, nothing special. Service was attentive without being invasive, although it wouldn't hurt the waiting staff to smile and engage rather than the sour faces as if they are doing you a great service.

This New Yorker was very impressed with the Butlers Wharf. It was probably one of the most romantic dates my partner & I had in a while. Sitting outside admiring tower bridge and the sunset. Our waiter was incredible. Offered great suggestions & even offered to take a photo because of the nice sunset views we would get. Food was good. Overall no complaints. We came on a Monday evening which was perfect because it wasn’t overwhelming crowded. Highly recommend & will return on my next visit to London.

Not great. Location is lovely but the menu was limited, overpriced and the portions were small. One to avoid

The pork and lamb chops were nicely cooked. Very tasty. Pie was chicken and mushroom when it advertised chicken and leek so please check if this bothers you. Portion sizes are small so if you have a big appetite you might need a McDs after! Sausage roll snacks were delicious but you’re paying £2 per slither… Seats needed a cushion, several of our diners were uncomfortable. Waitress was lovely and attentive. We’re glad we went bit it was pricey.

The place is absolutely fantastic. And what a great experience! What else to expect from a person like Carmine, the most charming and helpful of waiters. But oh gosh, the food! I've been raving about it to anyone who wanted to listen for the past 2 weeks. 10/10!

Awful experiences - avoid unless you enjoy paying over the odds for poor food and shocking service. The Manager is probably one of rudest individuals I’ve ever had the misfortune of encountering in all my years of dinning out.

While our meals that were delivered were cooked to our satisfaction and delicious, the wait staff was apparently overwhelmed and could not provide the service that would be expected for the cost of the meals. I requested one of the sauces to complement my steak which did not show. I asked if they could provide some grilled onions which were not on the menu. She said she would check. When they didn'tshow up with the meal was the only response I received (The food was delivered by another staff member). I ordered ice cream and sorbet for dessert. When it was delivered the staff member looked at the bowl, hesitated and then prvided a bowl of white soup. Apparently it sat on a counter for quite a while before delivery. If they could add more staff or possibly become more organized , it could become a great place. Would not go bac.

Really lacklustre on all levels. Very disappointing as we have been before for family events. Food really wasn't brilliant, dull, for example chicken pie had very scarce filling. Staff were pleasant and reasonably attentive but inexperienced and had little knowledge of menu, didn't seem interested in finding out more either. Sad to say that we won't be returning:-(

The actress is one of those rare places that works for pretty much every occasion- over the years I’ve dashed in for a drink whilst I feed a baby, fed hungry kids pizzas lunches, taken parents for Sunday roast, had girls nights out and settled in to watch the football. Bruno and the team have a real knack for quietly and unassumingly making you feel totally welcome and at home. A real community hub (The pizza is excellent too!)
