Called here on way to Lakes on back of positive tripadviser reviews. Nice comfortable cafe in middle of town. Service was a little slow but there problems with the water supply. Food was excellent ( omelette, garlic mushrooms ) and hot drinks as well. A very pleasant stopover.

Been coming to the Cafe for a few years now. Whenever I'm in the area I make a point to call in. Weather it be for a perfectly made coffee (And I'm quite a coffee snob) or for breakfast / lunch, its ALWAYS perfect! I think I've tried everything on the menu over the years and I couldn't fault anything. Service is always great, both front of house and the Chef are always super helpful and cheerful. Lovely cosy cafe with a real family vibe.. nice to come across these days When offering homemade Pizza, Lasagne, Burgers, Soup, Pies ,Pasties, cakes & All Day beautiful breakfasts what more could you ask for ?! Big portions, Low prices. Always leave full and happy. Would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone Thanks again! Oh and they play the best music!

Poor value for money and rude service. I Have been here a few times for coffee which is good but sampled the food this time. I was hungry so chose an omelette. When it arrived, I was shocked at how small it was: about 20cm max across, less than a third of a dinner plate coverage. Not the nice sized folded over half plate that I was expecting. The bare plate was made up with a dollop of coleslaw and a bit of salad. I thought best to comment and the proprietor was very defensive and said it was a standard 2 egg omelette. Since when have omelettes been limited to 2 eggs? He then barked that he'd never had a complaint about his omelettes in 5 years! I was hoping for some kind of ' I'm sorry sir, is there anything i can do? I considered not paying for it and said that ' I'd leave as an unsatisfactory customer. He didn't seem that bothered. Either that or had poor interpersonal skills. Its a shame that service providers can't take criticism and act to facilitate a happy outcome. I ate it in 2 mins, left dissatisfied and still hungry, left the cash on the counter and went. I chose not to engage in further dialogue as it seemed pointless and he seemed agitated rather than apologetic.

Whether you're after a full meal, a sandwich, bowl of soup, or coffee and a cake, it's all here, and is all delicious. Everything is freshly made, including the bread and the cakes. Also, the staff know how to handle a coffee machine. Cafe Culture is regular haunt of mine, and is popular with locals and visitors alike.

Three of us went for lunch over an informal business meeting. Friendly atmosphere, not ideal for a business meeting if they're busy, but fine for us. The food was excellent - tasty, homemade & fresh and all at very modest prices. Well worth a visit - can't fault anything.

Stopped a couple of times in Bentham and found this cafe to be really good quality and well priced. When I asked for a croissant, even though there weren't any instantly available one was got for me - delicious! But I have to really recommend the bacon baguettes - cooked perfectly and very moreish!!

Lovely atmosphere with a mix of locals & occasional visitors. 2 smallish rooms simply furnished & perhaps due for a refit but certainly clean and with local magazines to read. We had excellent coffee and sandwiches with bread freshly made on the premises. Service a little slow due to food being freshly prepared. Cakes looked delicious but for another time ! Good menu choices for lunch or just a snack. Friendly staff. If on A683 or A65 heading for the honeypot of Kirkby Lonsdale, why not divert to High Bentham & try Cafe Culture ?

Popped on on our way from lands end to john o groats. We were hungry. Good coffee, a prior pie with a top and bottom. Great home cooked fayre and fresh soups. Met the chef who humbly admitted that he had made it all. Including fabulous ginger and honey ice and peanut butter ice creams. Plus the best custard tart I had ever eaten. Top marks. Pop in if you're passing.

We had a half hour wait for our meal even though they were not busy. The food was nice when it came but it did mean that we have already drunk our tea and other drinks well before it came.On the plus side the food was all nice and freshly cooked and very tasty. I had steak and ale pie which was lovely. It was a nicely presented little cafe and not at all "greasy spoon"

Visiting Bentham Show we (4) needed a light lunch and we were directed to Cafe Culture. Home cooking at its very best. The Leek and Potato soup was proper soup with fresh baked granary rolls. Only had room then for a slice of Lemon Tart that was to die for! Also excellent coffee and tea. We sat out the back, where the food is prepared, and chatted to other customers and the chef/patron. We will make a point of visiting again when next in the area.

Ordered our food (nothing fancy) and had to wait over 45 minutes for it to arrive! (Even though the place wasn't busy) The mushroom gratin wasn't very good at all. The sauce it was in was liquid (like a glass of water)so did not adhere to the mushrooms.(Making for a very watery meal) Coffee was brought to the table far too early.Had to be drunk well before the meal arrived (otherwise it would have been cold) No atmosphere,so made for a very boring wait for a rather poor meal. Would not visit again!!

First time visit for Sunday lunch and we weren't disappointed. There was a decent selection of 5 starters, 5 mains and 4 puddings and very good value as well, £3.50 for a starter or pudding and the mains were £8 so £15,in total if you went for the full 3 courses.I had delicious sticky chicken pieces in chilli, garlic, ginger, honey and lime and wife's celery and Stilton soup was equally good (particularly with the nice homemade bread that accompanied it).I had great roast pork for main (see photo) and it came with carrots, parsnip mash, wonderfully tasty cabbage and Brussels sprout souffle (very unusual but very good). Wife and daughter both had roast beef which was equally good.Creamy rice pudding with caramel sauce was a good finish to a great lunch.Service was friendly and we will definitely be returning for Sunday lunch again.

On arrival the pub does not inspire confidence in the quality of food - but it was really very good. I was dubious about the sizes of sunday roasts after reading a previous review - and to be fair, the plates do not arrive loaded with masses of veg or mash. However, we all left feeling satisfied and it really felt like well prepared, high quality food. The steak and ale pie, and steak and ale yorkie had the same filling, which was superb.

Stayed at The Lister Arms for a couple of nights mid week. We stayed in the Lister Barn which is a 2 minute walk from the actual pub. Cosy and warm, tastefully decorated with lovely toiletries - a real gem of a place. The main pub is really cosy, with a gorgeous fire burning all day and evening. Breakfast and dinner here were both really good with large portions. Lots of dogs inside the bar area too which was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

What a hidden gem this place is! It was recommended by a friend so we decided to visit for breakfast. We arrived and it was really really busy! Two big parties in. We were seen to by staff quickly despite it being so busy and we placed our orders and sat outside in the covered area which had a lovely patio heater! We both got a full breakfast and just wow. It was one of the nicest breakfasts I’ve had! Staff were lovely and food superb. Would definitely visit again.
