The cafe at the Crypt was extremely busy when I and a friend visited on 22nd December about 3.30 pm and we had to share a table with two other people. That wasn’t a problem, the problem was that there were no trays to use, the attitude of several staff and one in particular. I was told by two members of staff that trays were at the beginning of the counter, when they were clearly not. Another said sorry but they were very busy and trays would be availabe “soon”. My friend is frail and so sat down while I tried to juggle getting two hot plates of food and drinks without a tray. The person in the queue next to me commented about how surly the server behind the counter was when I asked for pizza. I was so flustered that when I got to the cashier, with one plate of hot food, two mini bottles of wine and an alert buzzer for pizza, that I forgot to take my receipt after paying. The cashier knew I was having pizza but did not call me back to give me the receipt. When I deposited the one plate of food and wine with my friend, I returned to the counter to get glasses and when I got back to the table my friend showed me that one of the bottles of wine was a short measure, so I had to return to the counter to exchange it. The buzzer for the pizza went off and I went to collect it, but your surly member of staff refused to give it to me. I admit I then vented my frustration, pointing out to her that there - still - were no trays, that my plate of hot food was going cold, that the pizza was sitting there also going cold and did she not think she was being unreasonable? Her reply was that I was being aggressive and had been aggressive to other members of staff too. I had to return to the cashier to get the receipt and back again to the food counter to collect the pizza. Meanwhile, my plate of food was cooling and I had to leave half of the red cabbage as it went completely cold as I was eating it. The turkey pie was nice though!

I have been coming to St Martins for 30 years. The cafe in the crypt is going downhill. Yesterday was the last time I will ever have their Christmas dinner. It was insipid and was tasteless, no seasoning, roast potatoes substituted with chips. I had to go back and ask for peas because they had been left off my plate. The queue for food was long and disorganised, and since the place has become more popular it has lost its charm. Where is the soup and apple crumble option? The toilets are too small for the amount of people and the service is abysmal. I feel sad to say this because I love the place, but I’ve now had two years of disappointing Christmas dinners there and they are £20! They used to be amazing.

The Café in the Crypt is located beneath St Martin-in-the-Fields church on Trafalgar Square. This café has been here for 30 years. The crypt itself dates back to the 18th century, originally serving as a burial site. In the 1980s, the space was transformed into a café, retaining its original brick-vaulted ceilings and historic tombstones that line the floor. Look down on the floor and you’ll see it’s paved with gravestones!

I received one of the worst pizzas of my life. Extremely disgusting, warm cheese on tasteless, thin dough, with 10 small slices of burnt salami on top. I only ate a tiny piece and left the rest because it was simply inedible. Hours later, the cheese made itself felt. I had to wait a long time for the pizza and there weren't any trays available. Therefore zero points for the service. Only the location had some charm.

Having had excellent experience when attending evening shows, went back for lunchtime. What a difference! Waited 15 mins to queue up for a cup of tea and the pizzas we ordered took 30 mins - one ready 10 mins before the other so was sitting on counter over cooking under the heaters! Luckily we noticed, so went and retrieved it. Meant we ate at different times. Not one member of staff had a smile. Tables were left uncleared. One chair had drink spilt on it. Yes, it was busy but not that overwhelming with customers. Shame as it's a lovely venue but I wouldn't bother for lunch.

The cafe in the Crypt is an enjoyable eating experience in the heart of London's West End and matched with excellent service and friendly staff. The cafe has ample seating and gets very busy during lunchtime, so time your visits carefully. Being in the actual Crypt of St Martin's in the fields, some may feel a bit strange about sharing their lunch with the graves of 18th-century person's who were interred here, but in truth, they offer a historical reference and a talking point. The staff offers very good information regarding potential allergens and intolerance issues that may be contained within their produce, and their service is prompt.

Absolutely horrible! I am amazed at the 4.3 rating. The food was terrible. It takes a lot for me not to eat something, since I am tolerant of most food. While the food looked so appetizing, it tasted horrible. And if it were just me, perhaps I could chalk it out to an aberration. But we were 10 of us and we universally hated the food. Even the desserts!!! Since this was cafeteria style there was not much as far as service is concerned. The atmosphere was okay. You have to just imagine that you are in a crypt. Nothing particularly about the decor gives you that experience.

The cafe located in the crypt beneath the historic church in Trafalgar Square has a charming and concealed ambience. However, the thought of resting bodies beneath the floor of the cafe hinders my ability to fully enjoy the food there. Despite the cosy and relaxing atmosphere, I find it challenging to eat or drink in such a setting. Nevertheless, it remains a great place to visit. Regrettably, the names and notes on the floor are gradually deteriorating, making some of them difficult to read. Nonetheless, it is an intriguing location that is undoubtedly worth a visit.

I've been to the Alchemist in Berlin several times and I have to say, the store looks impressive in Berlin. In London it looked more like a normal bar or pub. You have the option of coming without a reservation, but then you have to sit in a certain corner. What I found very inconvenient here was that you had to get your own drinks at the bar. This shop actually thrives on visual effects, such as bubbling or smoking drinks. For example, there is a cocktail where the liquid is in a kind of waffle ice cream cone and with the help of a “smoke gun” the ball of smoke is placed on top. Here in Berlin it is done at the table, you can take pictures, admire it and then let the ball burst into smoke. Here the whole thing will not survive the journey to the table. The shop was full, the glasses were very full and you always had to be careful not to spill anything. While in our case one cocktail bubbles for a long time, in London it felt like it was over after a few seconds. On the first visit we had the same cocktail only once with and once without alcohol. I asked three times which was which and in the end I got the wrong one, namely the one with alcohol. You pay directly at the bar, which I think is good, but the music is almost unbearably loud, you really have to scream at yourself. The tables aren't wiped down either, so if you do, it's better to go to the Alchemist in Berlin.

🚇 Baker Street 🍺 £6.50 Mahou ❤️ A vintage Marylebone boozer. . The Barley Mow is located on elegant Dorset Street in the heart of Marylebone. The nearest tube is Baker Street which is a ten minute stroll away. . This pub was built in 1791 and is Grade II listed and is rumored to be the longest standing building in Marylebone. This pub is also a Freehouse which is very unique in this part of town. . The decor here is traditional and retains many features from the Victorian era. The interior is on Camra’s list of National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors. The standout feature is the two private booths located at the bar. This is a perfect example of how, in times gone by, Londoners liked to drink in intimate, cosy surroundings. At the rear of the bar there is also a snug and dartboard. . The beer lineup was decent and there were three cask on at the time of visiting. I decided on a Mahou which is pronounced Mau not Mahoo, i was politely corrected in Bradley’s Spanish Bar a few months ago. This Spanish beer is a nice drop if a little pricey. The food here is full of that British staple, the pie. Pie, mash, mushy peas and gravy will set you back £13.50, there are meat, veggie and vegan options to choose from. . I visited just after opening on a Saturday, with the exception of a group of fellas at the bar who were off to a wedding, I had the place to myself. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed, the acoustic soundtrack set a nice tone around the bar. Evenings are a more lively affair, there are quizzes, open mic nights and dart nights to keep you entertained. . The @thebarleymow_marylebone has it all! The building and primarily the decor are outstanding, a proper piece of old London. The beer was decent and the food hearty. There is plenty on to keep you engaged or you can pop in for a contemplating pint. This is definitely a must visit pub. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 30/07/22 More London Pub info @londonpubmap 🍻
