Cafe Sol in Calderdale

Poor quality food (economy) over priced for what you get and very low standard food . Breakfast £13 for what you got not a lot like a typical breakfast . I will not be returning or recommend until improving the food and quality.

This place has changed hands recently (Nov 24). What a disaster. The new owner thinks that it's ok to serve a full English breakfast with hotdogs instead of proper sausages, AND charging a fortune for a plate of terrible food. The plates were cold and we were left in complete disappointment. A shameful excuse for a cafe. Terrible and never returning.

What a huge let down, was here last year and it was amazing. The food was very bad we waited over 40 mins for a big and small breakfast, the quality of the food was just terrible,the orders were not right, it was not busy, so not worth the money and feeling very let down

Woman behind the counter wasn't very friendly. Asked for a Panini and she just yelled out she didn't have any. Probably wouldn't go back.

Food is great but they've put their prices to something i'd expect to pay in London.

We used to love coming here for breakfast on a Sunday , but the last two times it has been really poor. The girls serving on are really very good , but the new weekend cook is dire , sorry but we will be giving it a wide berth from now on . Such a shame .

Ordered a vegetarian breakfast. The menu says it comes with Glamorgan sausages, it didn't. Lately the food hasn't been hot, just slightly warm. Beans in particular are almost cold. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

I am absolutely disgusted I came with my family, I ordered 2 of the Spanish omelets which don’t include meat as I’m a vegetarian and Haven’t had meat in over 10years I know feel sick and it came filled with meat. The omelettes did not come with the chips. I ordered another portion of chips and they split chips into the 3 plates to make it look like it had come with the meal, the plates had a few on and handed me a plate with about 7/8 chips. The service was disappointing and I will never be returning again, the chef did not even once come out once and apologise. We was even told by the owner that the halal and non halal/ vegetarian food is cooked separately- clearly not !!!! if you don’t eat meat or chicken DO NOT COME HERE!!

Absolutely shocking services .....

Love to visit this little cafe now and again, lovely to sit upstairs and just relax with some good food

Visit 17/07/2024 around lunchtime 13:00. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. A colleague and I were in Halifax CC for a work meeting, and we came across this hidden gem of a cafe. We ordered two tuna melt paninis with chips and coleslaw. The food was yum and filling! Hope to visit again in the future.

After I had done my cleaning at home and walked to town with my staff we decided to have lunch in cafe sol, we sat upstairs and looked at the menu but we knew what we wanted and waited ages to order, after a while we were going to walk out but a waitress came up so we asked about card payment and then waited again for ages and eventually got served but I won't be going there again

Took a while for order to be taken and then for food to arrive with no update on the delay. Food was good. Decor needs an update

Not very busy when I was there, but quick service and good portions at decent prices. A proper cafe that serves breakfast, lunch and tea. Not one of those trendy brunch places, no avocados here and no WiFi either. Toilets downstairs. Extra seating outside.

Food came still warm but after the little sarcastic not left of top of food box. The food was put in the bin. I'm not sure it was safe to eat.

Very nice full English breakfast with good coffee and great service. Good value for money with generous portion size and all served nice and hot. Comfortable environment with a spacious seating arrangement for personal comfort and conversation. Very varied choice on the menu, which catered for all tastes and pockets.

Situated at the top end of the town centre at the top of Crown Street, this café could be described as a hidden gem. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is fantastic, some, like the steak pie is homemade, it's not 'fancy' food, but there's plenty of choice - top it off with a huge slice of cake if you have room after your main! All quality ingredients and at a great price. The major plus for this café is that unlike most of the others in Halifax, it's open till 5pm, so if, like me, you're an afternoon diner then this place is perfect. Just one heads up - they are a cash only establishment - however there is a cash point straight across the road.

Great service, good breakfast and fair prices. Atmosphere was nice and chill which is rare for a cafe, really enjoyed our visit.

Can't comment on the atmosphere as we got a takeaway. This was the first time we had ordered as we fancied something other than pizza, curry etc. The food was lovely and hot when delivered. It was a good price and the portions were good. Will definitely use again.

Crowded staff could be more attentive instead of on phones other wise all round great establishment

Now it's changed hands the quality has gone down and the prices up sorry to say I am not going again price of coffee went up just before the old owner left from £1.95 - £2.25 not bad now from £2.25 - £3.00 big hike

Will never buy from that place again. Went there 2 weeks ago, breakfast £ 7.95. Bit dear but lovely food all the same. Went back a week later, price gone up to £9.95. Utterly disgraceful. Nearly 10 quid for a breakfast. In these times. Will not be using them again. Appalling

We really liked going in here for cake and coffee. Very delicious cakes. The prices are very good. There's a wide ranging menu. We intend to go back again. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Food arrived cold, soggy and not edible. They left it sat waiting for over 1 and a half hours before driver picked it up. Steak Canadian was just what looked like corned beef in a white teacake as onion etc weren't even in it. Waste of money, shocking service and full of excuses.

Didn't eat just had a coffee, waitress took ages to serve and looked disappointed that we only wanted coffee. It was a little early for lunch, I did check out the menu and prices are competitive so will return to eat sometime in the future.

A Very pleasant place to eat the food was nice and hot and very tasty tea/coffee. Friendly staff and quick service depending on how busy it is. Very clean and tidy place with seating upstairs and downstairs toilets also kept very clean all in all a I was happy and would definitely eat here again. 😎👍

Ordered and paid for a bacon sausage and egg sandwich and only received a bacon and sausage. Came the following day and ordered and paid for a bacon sausage and egg sandwich and bacon and sausage sandwich and just received two bacon sandwiches. Shame because the food is lovely but I'm yet to receive what I've asked for.

The best cafe in the town no doubt. Delicious food, nice coffee, cute staff, reasonable price.

We were there for twenty minutes and didn't get our order taken. When we asked a waitress to order we were told someone would come up who proceeded to come up twice more and take two other tables orders. Eventually we walked out and we weren't the only ones. We heard as they told other people (but no-one told us directly) that the kitchen was busy so they were taking orders one at a time rather than taking orders and informing of a wait. We would have been happy to wait once ordered but this just seemed ridiculous. We went elsewhere and ordered within 5 minutes.

Lovely venue, sat upstairs overlooking the stairs. Lovely staff, looked like they cared about all the customers. Ordered a hot choc which was really nice with marshmallows and cream. Ordered jacket potato and a panini, food was great. Plentiful portions and tasty. Value for money was good payed just under 18 quid for all the food. Would go again.

Busy little café. The two lasses serving were kept very busy and active up and down the stairs flight with trays of food. I only went in for a cuppa and cake, took 10 mins for someone to take my order and a further 10 mins for it to arrive, but 20 minutes isn't bad when they were so busy and doing their best to keep abreast of it all. Served with humour and a smile too. I had the cuppa and cake deal, which was meant to be £3.75, I believe. Nice hot chocolate, but I had it with cream and no marshmallows. The pistachio cake was very delicious. Was a bit surprised to be charged £4.75, as I was charged £1 for a squirt of cream (not the real stuff). Marshmallows, if you wanted them, were 30p extra, so not sure why they lobbed a quid onto the deal. Still £4.75 for an all right hot choc and a yummy piece of cake is OK, even if it's not as stated on the signage or menu, nor was I told that there would be £1 extra charge to pay. Loos and baby change are down the steps in the basement. Great cake. Pleasant, chirpy staff.

As thou I only stopped for a coffee, to get my bearings, the service was excellent, before I even sat down they were there making me feel at ease and offering there service to ask what I was wanting. Well I'll be going back there again for sure. TOP MARKS IN MY BOOK.

To be honest I havent been In this cafe for months due to health issues having to eat healthy etc etc but after an all clear on my health today (sunday) on my way to work decided to give my old favourite a visit.wasnt disappointed.had set breakfast of spam bacon beans tomatoes egg and toast and a latte for £5.70.damn good price and damn good breakfast.set me up for the day.young lady who served me upstairs with glasses .lovely girl,friendly,attentive.definately recommend this cafe.there standards are very high.good to be back.thankyou guys

Went at busy time. Lots of people walked out as they'd been waiting too long. We waited best part of an hour. Food was very nice when finally came. Won't visit again when so busy

A lovely cafe. I had an excellent breakfast: really good coffee, properly poached eggs, toast made with good bread. Super staff who were friendly and quick. Looking forward to returning one afternoon to sample the cakes - there's a great display.

I pop in every time I visit Halifax. The beans they use for their coffee are one of the best around, even better than chain brands. The cakes are amazing and upstairs is nice and Rustic.

Food amazing, staff brilliant. 100% worth visiting

The food was delicious, big portion and didnt take too long. I got a jacket potato with a variety of toppings which came with salad and coleslaw. The chicken is also halal which is something I didnt know, as i didnt see any signs stating so. Will definitely be back again!!

We visit Leeds most weekends and this is the first place we visit before shopping. Always made to feel welcome. Food is delicious.

I've known the Owner for years now, since the Blue Mountain Cafe days, when he moved to Cafe Sol I followed him. The food is all nice and fresh and very reasonably priced The cafe is very nicely decorated both downstairs and upstairs. Very welcoming to children especially Special Needs. You need to go to experience for yourselves.

Food reasonable priced very clean . staff lovely and friendly nothing too much trouble disabled access to the cafe but not the toilets cakes are yummy well worth a look

Best breakfast around! Have travelled a few times from Leeds now JUST for the food. Always go if were near by. Great value for money and the staff are amazing! Make you feel really welcome and valued!
