Caffe e Vino in Tewkesbury

Our first visit as a couple, my wife previously came with a friend and loved it, this was a birthday treat for her, initially we’d booked on the Friday night but we’d completely forgotten about it! They were great and understanding, table was rebooked for the Saturday night. We had a lovely welcome (and a laugh about us forgetting to turn up) In short, we had a wonderful night, service, food and atmosphere were amazing! After a small starter each we opted for a pizza, I had SALSICCIA E 'NDUJA (Tomato, mozzarella, chilli, Italian sausage & Nduja) My wife had CICCIO RIPIENO CRUDO E BUFALA (Parma ham, buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes & wild rocket) My wife loved hers but hands down this was genuinely the best pizza I’ve ever had! It had everything, flavoursome ingredients and the pizza dough was of such high quality and cooked to perfection with a nice crispy crust! Desert was a delicious Affogato for me and ice cream for my wife, again, both superb! Will definitely be coming back again real soon! Many thanks to the team for a perfect evening!

The most authentic, delicious food and brilliantly run. Tewkesbury is very lucky to have this gem, it’s what all towns need!

Caffe e Vino bake excellent sourdough bread. Recently I was privileged to sample a loaf containing cocoa powder, rosemary, walnuts and raisins. It was packed with flavour – not at all sweet, despite the addition of cocoa. The nuts gave a rich crunch and then - surprise! – a fruity hit from the raisins. It’s another facet of chef Gianfranco’s creativity! The bread can be bought over the counter. The plain sourdough is delicious but it can come made with different flours and healthy mediterranean ingredients – olives, nuts, and seeds. Recent options have included smoked paprika with poppy seeds, turmeric with pumpkin and sunflower seeds, beetroot with rosemary, pumpkin and onion seeds and chilli flakes. The perfect accompaniment to sweet or savoury food - soup, meat , cheese or jam… The best bread you can buy, made with passion, for us to relish!

A very tasty lunch with great service and a lovely, relaxed atmosphere.

We had an exceptional lunch here this week. Gianfranco is an innovative and creative chef who presents delicious and sophisticated dishes, making great use of authentic Italian ingredients and seasonal vegetables. We were privileged to enjoy 4 dishes: Radicchio soup with sourdough olive & walnut bread (baked in house) Focaccia with stracciatella cheese, pears and walnuts Pan fried seabass with prawns on a bed of pureed pumpkin garnished with leaves and pomegranate seeds A creamy pumpkin risotto sprinkled with cocao (yes!) Wonderful original Italian food! And the service in this restaurant is first class – nothing is too much trouble. This is definitely the best restaurant in Tewkesbury.

My husband and I are frequent travelers to Italy, and big fans of the food. I confess I didn't have high expectations when we saw this restaurant in Tewkesbury, but we loved it! My husband had an excellent charcuterie platter, which if all about the quality of ingredients, and I had a very yummy pasta with lemon sauce. We even had dessert, which we never do at lunch. If we'd been staying in Tewkesbury instead of just there for the day we would have eaten there repeatedly.

Visited for first time today. We're just back from Tuscany/Lazio thought we'd gone back in time! Italian enough to say cappuccino much after 11 is a sin!! Great coffee and pastries, italian spoken by staff. Dogs welcome, water bowl no problem. Early morning menu was interesting. Tables showing "Reserved" on a Tuesday lunchtime says a lot. We'll be back for lunch soon.

Lovely food, friendly staff, definitely worth a visit

Ate here three times in a week. There is no shortage of places to eat in Tewkesbury, so that’s saying something. Food is lovely and fresh, and not too heavy. Absolutely bloody delicious. We said multiple times - we wish there was an Italian like this near us! Would personally recommend the vegan dark chocolate and banana bread (with a big scoop of the non-vegan choc chip icecream!) Staff are friendly, professional and efficient. They are just so lovely and so eager to please. I am only sorry we couldn’t eat there more. There were more menu items we wanted to try! (Please let me know if you’re willing to send me the banana bread recipe…)

Lovely coffee and croissant for breakfast.

Am so pleased we managed to get a table for Saturday lunch. This place has gone from strength to strength and is a perfect example of a family run, local cafe and restaurant. Amazing service, lovely food, reasonable prices. Bellissimo!

Apart from being the best coffee in Tewkesbury. The food is fantastic all prepared to the highest quality. The atmosphere is wonderful. The staff are 5 star.I thouraly recommend this Italian jewell

Not too bad, tbh pizza was soggy. But garlic bread was delicious.

Brilliant meal! We had starters from the specials board. Prawns and breaded Brie bites both were excellent! Mains we had a carbonara, a chicken with mushroom sauce and a pizza with added burrata. The best pizza I’ve ever had!! Pudding we had a Nona tart and ice cream. What a fantastic meal. So good we have booked to come back in a few weeks for my mums birthday!

Lovely welcome and such a different menu with innovative dishes. Atmosphere creates a nice evening. The food and wine were excellent.

1st time at the restaurant, waiting staff very polite & very good at helping with food decisions, explaining the menu & what the food was, we had Chicken pizza & Cicci Ripieni (peppers, goats cheese & rocket), absolutely gorgeous, we have booked again & will be taking friends with us, can't wait to go back

We loved this restaurant, we came here on a Saturday evening, there was 4 of us and our dog. 2 had the veal and the other 2 had the seabass, The food we couldn't fault and the service was great. We will definitely be going back.

Fantastic restaurant, we came here for a Saturday evening, The staff are extremely nice and friendly, very good atmosphere. We was seated at the back in the garden area, which to be honest i was worried about, but its under cover and it was great no issues. it was also fab, as we were able to have our dog with us for a meal out. my wife and my father in law had the veal and the other 2 have the seabass. all the food was brilliant. will definitley be going back All the food was fantastic

Impressive and excellent food as ever here! Great vibe and atmosphere, lovely friendly staff. Beautiful garden. My friend ahd the beetroot pasta lunchtime special which she said was amazing and my bruschetta was fabulous as usual and a great price! So lucky to have this superb restaurant/caffe in our town. Can't wait to go back again!

A lovely and different lunch menu. We both chose from the tasting platters of meat and cheese, really enjoyed are selections. The staff were very friendly.

Having looked at the positive reviews on Trip Advisor we went for dinner on a Friday evening. We were fortunate to get a table without booking and welcoming staff were friendly and helpful. The menu took a while to read through and making choices was not easy, it all looked appetising - and there were specials too. The food lived up to its reputation, an excellent sardine starter, also calamari, a vegetarian aubergine dish and the best lasagne ever. Italian chefs knew their stuff. An Italian waiter was charming and informative, which made the meal authentic Italian. A truly wonderful meal; we'd recommend.

Truly delicious freshly-made Italian food, with a lovely garden seating area. We had the spinach and ricotta cannelloni and the lasagne - both highly recommend. Slight wait to receive the food, but definitely worth it as clearly being made fresh and great quality.

Went for lunch and the staff were so lovely and accommodating. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely. Me and my friend had such a lovely time and can’t wait to go again in the evening with our partner’s. Also coffee it amazing too.

We stopped by Cafe e Vino on our long drive home from Cornwall to Cambridge on a busy Friday evening. Everyone was very accommodating, warm and friendly, especially to our young children. The staff were lovely and the food was incredible. We’d now travel to Tewkesbury just for this restaurant! It’s so hard to find a good authentic Italian in England and we felt like Cafe e Vino had really achieved this and more. Thank you so much !

Just got back from another amazing meal at Caffe e Vino. Welcoming staff, brilliant menu and all reasonably priced. Been a few times and never disappointed. Looking forward to my next visit

Really nice place, went on lauch time, service was great, people great, atmosphere great, food was just mediocre in my opinion nothing reall wow in my opinion anyway. It would be a really romantic place to take someone on an evening.

A relaxed, cosy place. The menu was a good mix of classic favourites and adventurous specials presented beautifully. We had a lovely evening and the food was fantastic. Prices were very reasonable. Booking online was straightforward. Will definitely revisit if we come to Tewkesbury again.

A great restaurant and well worth a visit. Came here for an evening meal and really enjoyed it. We visited again next day for lunch, without booking. It did initially cause a little consternation, but we did get a table and were then well looked after and again had a great meal and experience, if you are in Tewkesbury.

Cafe Vino is just over the road from where we live, we are regulars there and always found the food excellent and the service first class, it is like being with family and friends, Luigi, Davide, and Gianfranco and all the staff. Cafe vino is just over the road from where we live, we are regulars in the Cafe vino and have always found the food to be excellent and the service first class, to us it is like being with family and friends, Luigi, Davida and the chef Guan franco (forgive me if I've spelt the names wrong) and all the staff do a great job and often go the extra mile in bringing a little piece of Italy in Tewkesbury. This is a gem of a real, authentic Italian restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we knew we would be getting a true Italian experience. The staff were friendly, courteous, and oh, so knowledgeable of their food and wine. The wine and dishes were explained with interest and pride. All the food was done to perfection. This is not a lasagne and chips restaurant, but the real deal. I can't wait to go back.

A great experience visting Cafe e Vino. Extensive menu, a great modern atmosphere, very friendly staff. High recommend - lasagne is perfect. Opposite the Abbey so easy to park and find.

My husband took me here for a surprise Valentine's meal. Excellent service, delicious food and great to speak to a fellow Italian(I'm half Italian) about the country and the wines. I'm quite fussy about Italian restaurants which often don't match expectations. But this one ticks all the boxes!

Wine tasting evening is amazing. Great food with wine that compliments each course.

Wonderful family run restaurant with excellent service.

We really enjoyed this restaurant. We had a problem with our original booking a few doors down and so we turned up on Saturday night with no reservation. We were very warmly welcomed and after a few minutes a table came free. This restaurant is authentic in all respects: superb Italian food, great wine (we had the wine special, which our host told us he gets in 2-case deliveries when his merchant has anything interesting) and a very welcoming and knowledgeable host who was happy, when asked, to tell us his fascinating back story. Excellent in all respects. We live 200 miles away on the Suffolk Coast, otherwise we'd be regulars!

Our weekly must have visit. Best Cappucino and sandwich in town. Davide and his staff very friendly. Nothing too much trouble. E & M January 2024 Finally managed to arrange dinner with friends for my birthday. Had wonderful food, pizza, lasagna, risotto. Even my husband who is difficult to please with his food said it was Best Lasagna he had ever tasted. Luigi, Megan and Giannfranco were fabulous. Best Italian in Tewkesbury by far, always assumed this was just a cafe that sold ice cream, how wrong I was. Gorgeous authentic food and excellent service, owner often chats and offers advice about any trips you want to go on to Italy. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend, we will go again and again for sure.

We were just passing and called in on spec. They couldn't have been nicer even when I asked for a single pizza between us. Great pizza.

I was only here long enough to swallow a double espresso mid-afternoon, but the coffee was excellent and the ambience friendly.

Lovely café, brilliant menu. Well worth a visit, they make superb coffee, reasonable prices. Very busy as extremely popular. In good weather there is a lovely rear garden with a cafe hut and tables and chairs.

Lovely staff, excellent service, wonderful food and good wine. It has been consistently good for as long as I remember. Whether it’s a light lunch in the garden during the summer or a special occasion meal we’ve never been disappointed. Always a warm welcome! The food here is always amazing, that combined with the friendly staff and warm atmosphere makes it a preferred place to eat. I went tonight for one of the wine tasting, accompanied by five courses. What a great experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant, but book ahead as its a popular place to eat.

El tiramisú de los mejores que he probado nunca y además me he podido comunicar en español, ya que algunos de los camareros son italianos y nos hemos entendido a la perfección. Me ha sorprendido encontrarme un verdadero restaurante italiano y de calidas en Inglaterra. Una experiencia de 10!

This is a great find; we love Italian food anyway and this is one of the best locally. Great food, really nice atmosphere with friendly staff, and all housed in a building with character (didn't brave the wonderful hidden garden this time!). Thanks for a great evening!

What an absolute gem of a place. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Food & service was 1st class. Try and visit if you are in the area.

Another brilliant family dinner at Caffe e Vino. This time by special request by the young lady in question to celebrate her birthday. Great service from Davide & Co and delicious meals for us all. Invidious to single out some (but hey, this is my review). The Sharing Platters were excellent and the Veal Escalope Marsala the best I have ever had, including in Milan. For dessert the birthday girl had coppa caramel (again) and her Grandma went for the coppa amarena (again, again) to their great satisfaction. Others were equally pleased with various gelati and sorbets and the torte della nonna with vanilla gelati deserves a mention. Can’t wait to go again to this outstanding venue.

Authentic Italian in Tewkesbury. if you want real Italian cuisine cooked fresh from the kitchen from the original and mouth watering menu this is the destination for you. It’s not the restaurants only USP…… what a delicious affordable selection of regional Italian wines ! My wife would go there just for the homemade Tiramisu on it’s own. We travel out from Cheltenham for lunch……evenings for celebrations when we can get a table.

Went for an evening meal whilst staying in Tewksbury. Lovely informal vibe, friendly efficient waiting staff. Food was excellent, hot and tasty and the specials combined unusual ingredients. Also it was very reasonable. Less that £50 for 2 courses for 2 people with wine. In addition dog friendly in the front cafe part of restaurant. Good night out.

Popped into Tewkesbury town for lunch, stopped off at Cafe e Vino opposite the crescent close to the mighty Abbey. My wife had a dreamy Risotto alla Zucca off the specials menu, a seasonal dream of pumpkin and hazelnuts. Held together with a beautiful Taleggio cream sauce. I went for Medaglioni ripieni con Fichi, Gorgonzola & Speck . Ravioli to die for, beautifully presented with figs and walnuts in a creamy Gorgonzola sauce. Perfect lunch served with a smile and superb olive bread. Thank you Davide and the team

Stopped for a quick meal en route to a family gathering. We booked the night before and we were promptly seated at a spacious table in the lovely, warm cafe. The breakfast was superb. Very well cooked poached eggs with lots of options. Staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Will visit again

Had lunch there yesterday during our visit and had a really enjoyable meal. The waitress was very helpful as were the other staff. A really fine experience.

Absolutely amazing place, wwnt today and accidently ordered the Penne Arrabiata which is quite spicy and way too spicy for me specifically, and I had to get a new dish but they were amazing about it and took the dish off the bill even and absolutely amazing food.

Really surprised me as typically in this (all personally grouped btw) category, restaurants would be lunch and dinner service. So upped my rating a *. Great effort on staffing to cater and feed the early risers. Food was pretty good and the coffees stayed nice and hot for the entire meal. Says a lot for me 5* If they can do a breakfast this great … I will be fascinated to review their Italian menu in the future. Tewkesbury is now on my map to visit again 🙌

Very authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of Tewkesbury. Fantastic service from young local people, an owner so passionate that he found time to explain how things were made. We had the four cheese risotto (best I've ever had), and rigatoni al carbonara (rated fabulous by my wife). The wine was lovely, and the Tiramisu and gelato and amaretto to die for. All in all one of, if not the best Italian meal we've ever had. Many thanks
