didn't Evan get to sit down got kicked straight out because I'm homeless and I was going. there 5 meal with my support worker and we both got asked to leave so how am I supposed to get a bit eat and try sort myself out with my support workers help if we want go and have a coffe and bit to eat

We had our Xmas meal here and it was great! Food was so yummy, 10/10 every dish, loads of variety and some more unique options. Never knew sprouts could be so good! The service was stunning, really smiley lovely staff. Thank you for making our evening 💛

It's an energetic place, there's always live music, lots of funky beats, ideal if you want a dance, always busy and nice vibes.

Me encanta la cantina. Muy relajante, deliciosa comida, servicio rápido y en general excelente ambiente. Creo que todo es vegetariano / vegano también en el momento de escribir esto. Fuimos allí en un grupo grande (10 +) a mitad de semana para una reunión de Navidad y algo de comida. Hacía mucho frío fuera pero en interiores era perfecto hasta el punto de que la temperatura ni siquiera se me pasa por la cabeza). Pedí el plato compartido BBQ Tempeh y el puré de papas con jalapeños y ambos estaban deliciosos. Llegaron en unos 5 minutos de la orden también, así que el servicio súper rápido. La comida no sale al mismo tiempo para todos, así que tenlo en cuenta. Es un servicio escalonado basado en el pedido/comida que parece, pero lo sabíamos de antemano. Muy feliz de ir aquí de nuevo para la comida y bebidas después de haber estado muchas veces en el pasado. Una noche encantadora.

Very good choice for a quick lunch. Good whole food ethos, quick friendly service. The house bread was particularly good.

I really enjoyed The canteen. The food is so delicious. The DJ was also good. The only frustrating thing was that the live band who we had come to see didn't come on till 10.30. They start clearing the tables and chairs away at 9.30 so everyone was waiting an hour for the band.

Amazing food wow wow wow! Literally one of the best vegan meals I have had in the UK! Tried the sharing plated and simply everything that landed on the table was brilliant. Couldn’t recommend enough!

One of my favourite spots in Bristol for a catch up, chilled atmosphere, lovely food and a good selection of beers. Feels like a vibrant community hub where people are socialising and catching up.

Have eaten here twice now and each time it was DELICIOUS!!! So yummy, I had to leave a review. Had the korean bbq tempeh burger both times and it did not disappoint. Staff are friendly and service was quick :) Nice environment to do some work in. My only criticism would be the matcha. I had some the first time and it was unfortunately really awful 😳 Was gritty and tasted like fish - I could tell it was a low grade which was a shame! To any matcha enjoyers, opt for something else instead. To the owners, please invest in a higher grade matcha! <3 Love The Canteen tho xxxx

My fav hangout spot in Bristol, good vibes and always love the different local bands/ musicians that play later on in the evening. Reggae one night and Rock the other !!!

Excellent food, delicious and fast service.

Live music every night of the week, great atmosphere, reasonable prices, friendly stuff and lots of aliveness! Stokes Croft classic. One thing to keep in mind is there is entry (I believe 6£) after 9:30 on a Saturday.

Awful service with a lack of understanding in how to make a margarita when all the ingredients are behind the bar but the cocktail tap has run dry… got a dark and stormy instead that tasted of fireball whisky and lemonade for £9.50.

Todo en el menú sonaba bien, y no pudimos elegir, pero tenemos 2 entrantes y 4 platos pequeños para compartir, así que pudimos probar un poco de la mayor parte del menú. Ni un solo plato decepcionado y cada plato fue lamido limpio (no literalmente! ). Me encanta el hecho de que los ingredientes son de origen local, y el ambiente por las noches es perfecto. ¡Ya estoy pensando en volver para la cena de Navidad! Gran personal también, muy amable.

The potatoes were incredible. Not only was the food really good, but the staff were super friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend giving this place a go. It's a laid-back, relaxed vibe. There's also live music! I had the up most pleasure watching Beat Cleaver make live instrumentals with his equipment. Many artists joined him up on stage including myself!

Omg the pecan pie was amazing! The canteen is a Bristol classic and a must-visit location, so expectations were high but omg that pie was so good!

If driving/cycling be careful of the Sentia-based mocktail - it affected me and my mate quite strongly (v v tired for about 45 mins). Suggest staff should warn people who buy it. But it was delicious, so there is that. Gorgeous food too 😁.

Delicious food, beautifully presented, and reasonably priced. We loved the range of flavours across the menu and the outdoor seating is great in the sunshine!

Great atmosphere, solar people. Excellent live music, I really enjoyed the three days I spent there. Dancing and feeling the good Karma of the place. I traveled alone to this wonderful, inspiring and artistic city and The Canteen was my go-to pub. Thank you for making me feel so good.

July 24 - why have we left it so long!? Again, super friendly helpful staff. Everything we ordered was delicious. Menu changes regularly, and staff can advise. Our favourite, smashed potatoes were slightly different but loved this variation. Sharing board was great. Heritage tomatoes, great. 2 different burgers, both great. Highly recommend the mushroom one (NOT a portobello mushroom) Everything was great! June 23 - Great attentive staff. Quite busy even at 5pm. But food arrived quickly, and every dish (6) was absolutely delicious. At this point, I would normally tell you about the vegetarian choices, but everything is either vegetarian or vegan. Spoilt for choice. Definitely going back.

A great bar in the heart of Stokes Croft. The food is great (although I didn’t have any this time), the drinks are good and there’s free music every night. Always a good vibe with space in the terrace to chill out if you need a break from dancing

I’ve always loved the canteen. It has a lovely feel and the staff are always kind and friendly. It’s a nice place to go for a coffee in the daytime (today I had a lovely iced coffee with a friend) and equally a good place to go on a date in the evening for food and to watch some music.

Han estado en la cantina para tomar algo anteriormente, pero nunca han comido allí - por lo que decidió remediar esto. Reserve una mesa para mediados de semana con mi marido - pedido un número de los platos vegetarianos / veganos y uno de los platos. El resultado - todo sabía delicioso, con grandes combinaciones de sabores. El servicio era muy amable también y ambos pensamos que era una gran relación calidad-precio también. Destacaron los arancini, los champiñones de sal y pimienta y el pan. Sin duda volvería a probar más del menú y recomendaría a fondo.

Did not eat here but bar service was top draw. Had a little shot of the choice of 2 wines, bought the most expensive bottle but due to taste not marketing... Fantastic service.

Went to The Canteen with my wife for her birthday on a Tuesday night. Loved the place - mostly a younger crowd, but although we are in our early Seventies, we felt very welcome. Nice vegetarian food and excellent beer. We mainly went for the music and that was excellent - really good soul/funk/jazz jam night.

Great place to have a nice dinner

Came here the other night and have two complaints. 1. If you offer food until a certain time don't close the kitchen ten minutes before that time, it's really annoying. 2. Cards only! Cutting out cash hits the vulnerable hardest: according to the Financial Conduct Authority, 46% of the digitally excluded, 31% of those without educational qualifications, and 26% of those in poor health rely on it to a “great or very great extent”. Not very Stokes Croft IMO, spend your 'cash' elsewhere...

My first time in Bristol and this was a great place for lunch! Had a delicious sandwich and I loved the vibes of the place. The drinks were top notch and the staff was so friendly! Would definitely go back if I'm in Bristol again!

Card only. The last time I was here they charged me nearly six pounds for a mediocre cask pint from BBF. That was on Sunday evening. They have a trade discount that is technically available, but i reality it is pretty impossible to qualify for it. I was told that i would have to show them proof on my phone that I was in the trade, which was impossible because I didn't have my phone on me. (I did have my Gvmt issued alcohol licence handy, but no I needed a whatapp picture of my staff rota apparently.) So despite being one of the most famous pub landlords in the city, I do not qualify. I was with a group of eight others, all of which are in the trade. None of us were able to prove that we were, despite two of them running the better local pubs in the district. What is the point of having a trade offer to attract custom on quiet nights when you make it difficult to get said discount ? We went to The Bell after one drink. Sorry, shall not be back in a hurry.

Amazing vegan Sunday Roast! I'm not a vegan but I thoroughly enjoyed this and would highly recommend. I had the seitan roast dinner and added on the Yorkshire pudding

The food I thought was over priced at £16.50 for a Wellington Roast. The drinks were also over priced. It was advertised as a St Patrick’s Night Caligh but I was very shocked to go to the bar and be told they didn’t serve GUINNESS which is the main drink on ST Patrick’s night in Ireland and in the UK. Very disappointing to say the least. I was also told they serve Guineas shots and so I had a couple which were great but they were made up of Drambuie and Bailey’s !! Why was it called Guinness shots when there was no Guinness or even Irish whisky in the drink.

Vegetarian/vegan Sunday roast that was delicious and generous portion. The local is big with a scenario for evening live music, I guess, and quite luminous.

Only veggie Sunday roast, specially delicious the seitan one but I would probably not recommend the mushroom loaf. Also please note that the roasts come without Yorkshire pudding, it needs to be ordered separately. In my opinion the cauliflower cheese portion was quite small for £5.00... A friend ordered the hummus which also was delicious and the extra bread portion that came with it helped me to clean my plate from the delicious gravy.

Amazing food. Im a lifelong meat eater and this place makes veggie food EASILY as a good and delicious.

Haven't eaten here yet, but I have seen some great live music. Fun to go with a bunch of people. I will give the food a go at some point, havent had the chance yet.

I like the canteen. Nice place to visit if you like live music in the evenings. Good selection of drinks - mulled cider is delicious. Gets very busy however, which some people like, but I can find a bit overwhelming. Outdoor area could use more evergreen plants or a wind break behind benches that are along the wall as gets quite chilly in winter.

Really nice palce, very relaxed and I liked the decor. They also have live music on. So it's a good place to have a lovely time. The only downside is that mocktails are non-existent, so it's a shame for people who don't drink alcohol, otherwise good place to visit, and I would recommend it and will be back for sure.

Woweeee. Please go here. Their food is all plant based and absolutely delicious. They do first table as well so all half priced. They have good vibes and you can meet for drink, play some board games, have dinner, sit with your laptop, have a coffee. Something for everyone.

Such a great atmosphere! Went there on Sunday during Veganuary, for vegan Sunday roast (also ordered vegan cauliflower cheese). The cake was nice ending for that meal. It was soooo good! Huge portion, great taste and great beer. I really recommend. Maybe on other months you should check if there's vegans roast.

Ottima cucina, live music tutte le sere. Bella atmosfera, staff simpatico e gentile. Volume dei concerti troppo alto. Peccato non poter mangiare durante il concerto (la cucina chiude presto). Tolgono i tavoli davanti al palco quando inizia il concerto, quindi conviene sedersi prima in tavoli più indietro, per non rischiare di dover interrompere la cena e restare in piedi. Prezzi bassi.

The food here was absolutely exquisite! Divine local, fresh and well thought out combinations of vegetarian ingredients. The restaurant decor was interesting and quirky. The staff were very helpful and friendly and there are lots of local drinks to choose from. I would say an extremely fair price for the value of the food. I will be 100% returning and recommending this place to anyone I know who is vegetarian and coming to Bristol.

We went to The Canteen in search of a space to do some work with a plug for the laptops but ended up staying for food and drinks as well. We were really delighted by the food, it was on the pricier side but absolutely worth the money. The crushed potatoes, BBQ tempeh and quince and polenta cake were all perfect. I was very happy with the gluten-free options both on the bar and in the kitchen. Having both a gluten free (Arbor mosaic) and gf alcohol free (clear head) on tap was a great surprise.

A very special place at he heart of Bristol's music scene. Great vegetarian food, with an excellent drinks selection where Sustainability and low carbon are a central focus. There is always something interesting, quirky and quintessentially Bristol happening at the Canteen.

Whilst searching for some vegan food we stumbled upon canteen and after seeing some good reviews on YouTube we thought we’d check it out. A great hang out spot for sure. Staff friendly and food was delicious. Also the barman recommended an ipa for me that was delicious. Highly recommend

Definitely in the top 3 for vegan/veggie roasts In Bristol. Always a healthy selection to pick from on a Sunday. Also kid friendly during the day which makes it easier to get to with the kids.

OMG … A Definite One 2 Visit We had a wander around town for the afternoon and then headed over to try out our latest Vegan / Plant based restaurant find. The food was absolutely superb - Some of the tastiest food we’ve had in a long time at vegan restaurants. Many are good quality, this was excellent!! 👌 It would be nice to see slightly more attention to detail and also some more vegan options for cakes or desserts but otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Thank you.

Lunch for 9 at The canteen on Saturday consisted of some absolutely delicious vegetarian food. We ordered lots of side dishes and some mains. There was more than enough for all hungry adults and every single dish was amazing. The inside decor is a bit rough and ready but it had a lovely vibe and we would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for vegetarian food in a relaxed setting.

Amazing lunch foccacio with caramelised onion mature cheddar and fried egg! What flavours!!!! Salad so fresh and such a tasty dressing. Attentive staff and great atmosphere. Cant wait to return!

Such a hub of community. Really love the vibes here and the drinks are reasonable. Haven’t eaten here yet but deffo will! It’s dog friendly too. My only complaint would be Charging entry on the weekend but can’t win them all
