Strange that whenever one of two people give this place 1*, all of a sudden a 5 star review appears. Not really a conspiracy theory but...... Visited on Saturday. No cocktails available, no sea food available, incredibly limited fish and chips and that's it. Totally indifferent manager who, when we walked out suggested dismissively that we should come back in a couple of weeks.... As if. The name of this place pays homage to a wonderful gentleman, pity the restaurant sinks as low as its possible to go. Service 0 starts Drink 0 stars Food impossible to say. We walked out as only 10% of the menu was available. Don't waste your time. There are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity that won't set you back as much and night even have food and drink available.

A fairly new arrival in Epping. I have visited a few times and always had an excellent meal with first class service. The fish is cooked to order so always fresh. Highly recommended. The best place for fish and chips in Epping without question.

Excellent service, best we’ve had in a very long time. Really accommodating too, I wanted a starter for a main and they did that no problem! The food was delicious, high quality. We are definitely going back again. We just couldn’t understand why there were bad reviews because it’s honestly good food and even better service. Ignore the bad reviews, haters are gonna hate!

I came to your fish and chips restaurant on Tuesday the 14th of June and bought cod and chips twice. The fish did not look or taste like cod, very thin with lots of batter and the chips looked alright but were hard and barely edible. It was very expensive especially for what we got. So obviously we won’t be going there again.

We visited Saturday lunchtime (18th June) Excellent menu, interesting, well cooked food, excellent value for money. We had spicy tiger prawns, whitebait, sauteed king scallops, white crab cake for starters. Mains were scampi and chips, turbot fillet, salt and pepper squid (spicy!!). Wine very reasonable (South African sauvignon blanc £28). The staff were excellent, particularly with our 10 month old. They were pleasant and amusing. No long waits for anything but no rush either. I can highly recommend this new restaurant in Epping.

I ordered my meal just before 5.30pm, nearly 2 hours later all I was told was “I’m sure it’s on the way”!!!!

Even when asked for fresh chips, they give cold chips. The guy at the till comes across like he doesn’t want to be there. I have been a handful of times, but will not be returning there.
