Caravaggio in City of London, Westminster

Came here for a work lunch when I was in London, lovely ambience, and the staffs were really friendly. Had the prawn risotto and it was flavourful and huge!

Have eaten at this place for many years and never had an issue before this visit. A client lunch. Had an issue with one of the starters (chosen by 5 of our party.) Part of the dish was overcooked (burnt.) It was obviously inappropriate to complain in front of clients despite comments about the quality from them, but asking us not to complain during the meal, to avoid any embarressment, so instead we elected to complain at the end of the meal after our guests had left. When raising the complaint the waiter argued with us, rolled his eyes several times telling us that there was nothing wrong with the dish and that we should have complained at the time it was served to our table. In 37 years of working in the city I have never once experienced this. The dish was clearly substandard, stale or otherwise and should not have left the pass. The waiter even mentioned that they were busy. Not an excuse to send out substandard food. After a number of exchanges and negotiation the issue was finally resolved and the meals removed from the bill. Shocking. It is a real shame because the other waitresses and waiters were very attentive and polite.

Great food and had requested a quiet table, which we were given. Service friendly and efficient.

We enjoyed a fantastic meal on a quiet Friday evening. Service was impeccable. There is an extensive wine list with staff giving excellent recommendations. All in all a lovely evening and would not hesitate to visit again.

Popped in with a group on Tuesday night. Happy to find a table for the 7 of us, especially since we hadn't booked. Good choices on the menu including vegetarian options, and the food was delicious. Very friendly and efficient staff.

Excellent Italian. They were able to accommodate us on a busy evening without a booking. Food was great and service generally good. I enjoyed the Tuscan Sausage Ragu. Overall, would be happy to eat there again.

Went for a dinner with a couple of friends on a Wednesday evening. The atmosphere was really good, the restaurant accommodated my request for a quieter table. We had wine and Prosecco - both were great. The food was beautifully presented and super delicious. I had scallops to start with, followed by lamb cooked to perfected medium rare - as per my request. The plum dessert was great to finish the meal. Couldn't fault the service - it was just the right level of attendance. Will be back!

Happened to walk into this restaurant while on the way to another but we were SO hungry. We did not see any prior reviews and happy we didn’t, because this restaurant is great and we would visit again in a heart beat. The food was quick and very yummy, and the service was fantastic. The man that helped us with service was prompt and very friendly when we started chatting with him. We would definitely come again!

upscale restaurant but food is average

Due to circumstances outside my control I have not been able to visit for a long time. But when I did it was great. So I think about Caravaggio and miss it.

Had lunch at this quintessential Italian restaurant in the heart of the city. They have a great lunchtime set menu in the £20-30 range, which is very good value. The spinach soup with croutons was delightful - the right consistency, full of flavour. The lamb and vegetable main was also good - just a tad on the smaller side. Staff were friendly; it’s just that at peak lunch hour we had to wait a little to order and for the food. Nice modern interior, and the restaurant is in a very central, accessible location - would definitely recommend a visit for lunch - the food is good, wine list is broad and the menu is excellent value. Recommended

Still can’t believe how a manager can yell and swear at his staff like that. I mean serious yelling and “f” swearing. And in front of customers. He apologised… after I complained to the staff that this was unacceptable behaviour. Not quite the relaxing customer experience that you would expect.

As enjoyable as ever 4 of us had lunch here again for my Birthday and it was as relaxed, professional and friendly as ever We were able to relax and catch up for hours but service was always there when wanted Thoroughly recommend

A nice meal with pleasant surroundings in a great location

Very nice upscale fine dining in the city center. Visiting Lloyds of London Broker in the UK and they took us to this place. The food was very good, although I could only try fish and shrimp. Tried fried Cod with purple potatoes, and it was tasty. Service was prompt and fast. Very nice interior with coat service etc.

Lovely food - pricey but really well made. The restaurant isn’t cheap but as far as Italian food goes it was quite delicious. The bread and olives were also great. Good wine - very nicely made side dishes- we didn’t try dessert. We paid a la carte as the promo menu was too limited. I’d go again

A good restaurant with attentive and friendly staff. Spotless venue, great food (it's worth mentioining the olive bread which was amazing). I would definitely return. We had the Christmas lunch menu.

Friendly attentive staff, fine quality wine collection. Food a little mundane. Interior worn and dated . Friendly atmosphere .

Steak was good size and tasty. Expected olive bread to come with olive oil and balsamic vinegar but had to chase these up and when they arrived the bowls in which the oil and vinegar were served were disappointingly very small. Side dishes (veg, chips, etc.) were a also small and no Irish/French/... coffees available to round off a very enjoyable evening.

Stalwart of the City been around for ages and to be fair looks it. Decent wine selection and food wasn't bad but I've had better for the price.

Food was really average for the price it was. Service was appalling. If prices were 50% cheaper you could justify but with it being very expensive, there is no excuse. It is not good value for moeny

I tried to book by email and received no response, so had to phone. Over the telephone, I said that we would like to use the Meerkat 2 for 1 offer and they confirmed that this would be fine. We found that the food was pricey and a bit disappointing. For example, the meat was not very tender. They also charged for bringing bread to the table. At the end of the meal, they said they had no record of us mentioning the 2 for 1 offer. It was an awkward exchange in which it was left as our word against theirs and we had to pay full price. It was a disappointing experience all round and I could not recommend going here.

Nice ambiance and not too noisy and the food is first class

J'ai malheureusement été malade après mon passage dans ce restaurant. S'agissant du seul et unique lieu où j'ai avalé quelque chose dans la journée, ça ne peut venir que de là.. Attention si vous commandez un pavé de thon "rare"! Serveurs sympathiques, mais la personne à l'accueil assez antipathique.

Pas possible de mettre une plus mauvaise note sinon ça aurai été fait. Très mauvais restaurant, pour un italien je ne suis pas persuadé que les pâtes étaient fraîche mais une chose est sure c’est qu’elles n’avaient aucun goût. Mauvais rapport qualité prix.

We went for an early dinner at Caravaggios after a Friday afternoon spent at a local immersive experience and found the food and wine menu very good, followed up with excellent food and service. Staff were very friendly, personable, attentive and the price very reasonable for location and today’s market. Definitely recommend.

I saw the reviews but I thought how bad can it be. It was empty… and now I understand why. The female at the reception looked so unbothered.. hardly greeted me as I entered. The rest of the night was full of pressure to order wine. I was contemplating but also trying to control my drinking (for personal reasons) and the pressure didn’t feel right. The main course pasta was small. They use one of those plates that look big but aren’t really. In the end I had hot tap water and lemon. They charged me close to £5 for this and labelled it ‘coffee’ whilst adding extra items to the bill we did not order. This is a money grab. Extremely disappointing and they obviously do not want to change.

Amazing food friendly service. Great atmosphere. Good price for fine dining. Be willing to try things that you wouldn’t necessarily try. Everything is delicious. They accommodated our large group with kids. Very nice experience.

Caravaggio always give me a sense of being in a fine restaurant within a province of Italy. It is a rare place where you can feel and taste of Italy in busy City of London.

Ottimo ristorante, prezzi elevati ma in linea con la zona di Londra e la qualità dei cibi. Sicuramente uno dei migliori ristoranti italiani che abbia mai Rovato all'estero, non moltissimi in realtà in quanto tendo a evitarlo ma questa volta spinto dai colleghi sono andato e devo dire che il livello è alto e la cucina molto autentica.

The service was so slow. We were there for nearly two hours waiting for the main meal, it wasn’t even busy for them to take so long. Quality of food was not good either to pay £150 for two people!

My first visit but pretty impressed. Not the cheapest exactly but good quality decor and food. Staff all pleasant but 1 of them was probably new to waiting, as he started to clear the hors d'oeuvres while 1 of us was still eating.

Called in this restaurant by chance on a Wednesday afternoon while visiting London and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The pasta was delicious, really lovely authentic Italian food! Couldn’t recommend it enough, definitely worth a try! Nothing was too much for the staff, they were so accommodating, beautiful restaurant and lovely staff…5 stars!!

Fantastic food, great advice on the menu & left to enjoy the meal. Not rushed over lunch like other places.

It was a quiet evening and there were only 2 tables occupied. It was a first dinner date for me with a lovely companion and the staff was so attentive and full of positive energy. They put sparkles on the table (I had told them in advance it was an important date for me). We were alone in the restaurant for the last 30 minutes or so and there was Zero sign of impatience from the staff; on the contrary, the gentleman in charge of service (as well as his colleagues with whom we interacted less) acted with grace, friendliness and respect - neither aloof nor intrusive - just an evidently good person doing a very good job. And the food is good. The decor and table architecture is more for business lunches, but given the empty restaurant, special touches and great service it felt very special. As a human being I felt very welcome. Bravi! :)

Second time here and really nice atmosphere with traditional service.

The food was excellent; however, both the starters and the main arrived lukewarm, almost cold.

My partner booked for a lunch at the place. The menu was provided without any markers for vegetarian/vegan options. When asked to recommend food, the main waiter seemed quite disappointed with the fact that we are looking for vegetarian food at his restaurant. He recommended us 5 things including starters and mains, and when I asked why is he recommending duck egg as an option, he was quizzical and confirmed ‘so you want vegan’? The service was fine. And the two things we ordered was awful! It wasn’t salty, or had the necessary seasoning. It is the worst meal I have had in London. The ravioli had weird bitter sweet taste. I am quite disappointed that I wasted over £50 of my hard earned money at a place where I felt nothing but judged on ordering vegetarian. And there is a reason, because the food is awful. Never recommend to anyone!

I visited for the first time today for a work lunch. Unfortunately the staff seated our guests at a totally different table so we lost at least 20 minutes over lunch trying to locate them. It was difficult to get the waiters attention to order drinks as we were seated upstairs in the corner and when we did, it felt a little rushed. Appreciate potentially understaffed. However they did accommodate my vegan dish and the rest of the group enjoyed their mains and desserts. Small recommendation would be to add a vegan option on the menu in the future if possible.

A client lunch for 5 people with varying dietary requirements. Thankfully there is a good choice of menu both Starters and mains that catered for the range of requirements although this could be expanded further. The service from the moment you arrive to when you leave is excellent. Enough time was given for us to start our conversations but we never felt we were looking for someone to take our orders. This is all well and good and Expected in a restaurant of this quality where it really excels is in the food. Fantastic ingredients cooked impeccably and paired with some surprises. I can personally vouch for the sirloin with an nduja sauce but was a little jealous of the diner next to me who choose the pheasant special. There are many mediocre restaurants in London trying to be something they aren’t this is not one of those restaurants. Try it for yourself.

Nice Staff but extremely poor food and not great service . Steak was tough, chips soggy. Service poor , but staff were fine . Bearing in mind local eateries far better surprised this is still open .

Possibly the worst dining experience I have had in London for some time. The service was very poor. We were a business party of 5. Bread rolls were brought out which were barely sufficient. Had to ask for olive oil and balsamic vinegar. One very small saucer was presented for 5 of us to share. The waitress had zero etiquette. The food is bang average. The menu options very limited. There should be an option for zero stars on here. Even that would be generous.

The Food was Authentic and delicious. Reasonably priced for the Center of London. Great service as well. Would definitely go back on our next trip. Ciao

We selected this restaurant due to its proximity to our hotel and the reviews and were not disappointed. We arrived around 7pm and we definitely felt a bit underdressed in our jeans (open table said smart casual) as most of the clientele inside looked like business or special occasion customers but were still seated right away. The restaurant was pretty busy but the staff was attentive and took care of us as a team. The food was delicious and it very much reminded us of dining in Italy as nothing was rushed. Would definitely go back and perhaps dress a little nicer to reflect the elegant atmosphere.

A rather dated looking restaurant, doesn't appear to have change one bit since I last went there about 10 years ago. The food was 'ok' and prices were pretty good. The wine we had (Cote Du Rhone @ £38) was pretty good. I wouldn't hurry back though. The staff were a bit hit and miss. Some disinterested, others more professional.

Great restaurant - wonderful ambiance. Quiet, white tablecloths, space between tables, and excellent Italian food. + tasty watermelon and mozzarella salad + properly cooked veal Milanese + personal and attentive service. It’s located in the financial district of London so lots of suits, prices reflect location but also quality of the menu

Caminando en busca de un restaurante nos encontramos con Carvaggio (muy cerca Torre de Londres) Entramos porque el lugar se veía lindo, acogedor, con una carta muy adecuada Y después de haber comido unos antipastos y exquisitas pastas y rissottos puedo decir que fue una de las comidas más ricas que tuve en esta semana en Londres

25 years after my first visit to Caravaggio and it’s still as good! Consistency is absolutely king. The food was the star of the show…from the Burratina starter (perfectly complemented by the sun dried tomato and courgettes); the perfectly cooked spaghetti lobster (pasta perfectly al dente with a rich and unctuous sauce); to, finally, the tarte tartin (not Italian, but who cares, it was delicious!). Reliably excellent for entertaining clients. Will go back again and again…

Food and wine was excellent, we brought clients for dinner and they were also very impressed. The gentleman who took care of our table upstairs was genuinely friendly and attentive, very happy with the service.

Excellent service and food as always. Maitre D very welcoming and runs this restaurant very professionally.

Really disappointed with this visit. Table of 6 booked. Very poor service, 1 mains and all deserts didn't turn up. Steaks very dry and leathery.

A City Classic - it hasn't changed a winning formula. Great to be back post-Covid!
