Carluccio's - Kingston in Kingston upon Thames

Went here for breakfast and it was average, nothing special. We got the English breakfast which the sausage was overcooked and the pancakes which were covered in too much syrup for liking making them too sweet. Service was terrible considering it was not busy when we went— probably 12 staff there (as I heard there would be Christmas party after) and only 5 tables to wait so I’m unsure why the service was so bad. We had to keep trying to get the attention of staff on several occasions. Overall, I’m quite disappointed by my experience at Browns.

The service was great, staff were very friendly and pleasant and in spite of it being very busy, did their very best to be attentive and offer a very good dining experience. It was unfortunate that delays to our courses (Christmas Day) were delayed in the kitchen for whatever reason which meant we were at the restaurant for a lot longer than we expected (affecting car parking charges etc). If this aspect could be improved, I would easily rate our dining experience as 10/10. Kudos in particular to our waiter (did not catch name unfortunately!) who made efforts to apologise and keep us updated re our delayed meals! I suspect it being Christmas Day had a major part to play in our experience above. We have dined at Browns before and it was excellent.

Don't go for Xmas lunch it was overpriced chaos!!!.

We want to say a huge thank you to all of the staff at Browns Kingston today. It has been a tricky year for our 92 year old mother & grandmother who can no longer host in her own home. The staff, service & food at Browns was 5* - all staff went above & beyond to make us all feel welcome, the food was phenomenal & the atmosphere was really relaxed. Thank you & we hope you manage to have a relaxing time over the holidays xx

Good food generally but steak was absolutely shocking for the price they are charging. Was undercooked and cold and they brought it back overcooked and the fat was hard as rubber on a ribeye!

Had our work Christmas dinner here and the service was great. We can’t thank Santos enough for his incredible service, will definitely come back!

From the moment we were seated, Lara's attentive and warm demeanor made us feel genuinely welcomed. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the steak. Cooked to perfection, it was juicy, tender, and seasoned just right, hitting all the taste notes effortlessly. Every bite melted in my mouth, encapsulating the essence of what a perfect steak should be. Lara’s service was impeccable – she was knowledgeable about the menu and her recommendations were spot on. She anticipated our needs without being intrusive, ensuring our glasses were never empty and that we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The atmosphere at Browns was cozy and inviting, enhancing the overall dining experience. But it was Lara’s exceptional service that truly set the evening apart. Excellent service but the food was disappointing. The chicken skewers were a little undercooked, which is always a concern when eating chicken. The fish pie was burnt on top, like it had been left in the oven too long (or microwaved then finished under the grill). The food was OK, I was just expecting better. It was also disappointing that there was only one NA beer available, and that was the tasteless Peroni. In these days of many people being AF, or at least cutting down on the amount they drink, then a better AF selection would be expected. The waiter was very good however, and the atmosphere was decent, although a little noisy (probably due to the number of office Christmas parties that seemed to be there at the same time).

We had a very enjoyable office Christmas lunch at Brown's today. The location overlooking the river is perfect and the interior is modern and well laid out over two floors. I had smoked salmon, followed by roast turkey, with a lemon meringue tart for dessert. The food was delicious, and the service was fast, friendly and efficient. Recommended.

Service was amazing however the quality and flavour of the food was shockingly poor. The majority of our group was disappointed with thier meals.

Browns Kingston is one of my to-go restaurants. Over the last few years Santos has been our server, sommelier, even suggesting new combos - always with a smile and courteous! We love coming here.

We love coming here! The food is classic. Great selection of wine and cocktails. Always able to find a nice table, and we are quite particular! The service is always great. Staff know us and are very personable. Our favourite is Santos who always stops for a quick chat and ensures that we are well looked after! Also a great sign is the friendship you see between staff.

Lovely food. The restaurant was very kind and efficient in accommodating our party's large buggy. We arrived just as brunch was coming to a close and our server made sure to get our order in promptly so we could enjoy the tasty brunch menu. The food was smashing. Shaun made sure that we were all well taken care of and that the kids and those of us with allergies were well accommodated. Great and friendly service.

Disappointing. Incredibly slow service and the fish pie was inexcusably tiny. I grew up with Brown's restaurant in Brighton and it was always great. I hope it improves as it has everything going for it.

We were a large group on a Saturday for a remembrance lunch for my father, my mother visited prior to the event to finalise arrangements and she said the staff were really great and were very happy to help. On the day we were 19 and we were put in a lovely side room for privacy. The food was pre ordered along with wine and it all came out in good time and the staff were good at keeping glasses filled! Our waiter Carlos was absolutely amazing, he was friendly, very efficient and attentive to my mother which was lovely. We could not have hoped for a better place to have a special lunch in honour of my dad.

Really nice dinner out. Felt like a upscale but not pretentious place thanks to the brassiere/ bar style Waitress was really friendly and professional. Took good care of us. Food was lovley, just needed a little seasoning. Drinks were good. Overall really nice dinner and would recommend

Brown’s is my favorite place in Kingston for lunch, dinner or just to have a drink/coffee. The service is always wonderful, all of the servers are very kind and knowledgeable. The food is very fresh, with a lot of vegan and gluten free options. Every time I come here I am very happy with the food, service and the experience in general. I have and will always recommend Brown’s to all my family and friends. Amazing staff, my compliments to all of the amazing servers I have had the pleasure to know.

3rd time I came to this restaurant with my family this weekend and it’s always a pleasure! Love the atmosphere and the food, the view of the river is unparalleled in Kingston

The afternoon tea was the poorest quality afternoon tea that I have ever experienced in my life. The regular teas were served with plain chutney sandwiches, cakes with their bottoms missing - most of it was inedible. The gluten free was below average, the only thing saving it was the scone. There was a bowl of cream served that was almost churned to butter with a few strawberries on top, and a brownie that was still raw. Absolutely appalling standard. We also had some weird encounter with a lady who accused me of not telling the waiter I required gluten free, when it was on the booking, I was provided a gluten free menu on arrival and spoke to waiter about my allergies. Overall, it was a waste of a journey and our time to go there.

Came in on a Sunday and service was incredibly slow. Took about 20 minutes to get drinks order taken and another 20 to get t he drinks. They did deal with allergies very well however and food was good. Bit expensive for what it was -£18 for a burger.

Lara & Silva are absolutely brilliant - had another wonderful Sunday roast here at Kingston, both ladies are an asset to the browns team, thank you and we will be back soon

I went there for a late breakfast and the fact that the place was empty should’ve been a warning. It is surrounded by other eateries which were all busy. The staff were fine at taking the order which was a full English, minus black pudding. However, no replacement item was offered instead. The food came quickly and looked ok if a bit tired, and the sausages in particular looked a few days old and reheated. But, everything else on the plate was stone cold. The fresh butter wouldn’t even melt on the toast. The plate was cold, the tomatoes were hard and the portion of beans was served in a teeny tiny pan with a large spoonful of beans at best. At no point did any staff come over to check how it was, even though I was still the only customer. It tasted ok despite the temperature, and I was hungry so I ate most of it. I paid the bill at the bar and the waiter didn’t bother asking how everything was either, hence a review here for the wider audience. I vote with my wallet and won’t be going back.

I have been to this branch of Browns on many occasions and always had great service and the right amount of attention, but on this occasion I was disappointed with the whole experience of Browns in Kingston. On arrival, as a party of 4 adults and 1 child, we were lead to a table in side room, although there were many empty tables in the main part of the restaurant, and it was a good 30 minuets before anyone came to take our drinks order. Once we had placed our orders for food, although when I asked for the burger to be medium rare I was told this was not possible and my comment was "the meat is not fresh then" and the waiter agreed, but was assured the burger was good. We then waited 45 minuets for our starters to arrive, and when they did arrive, mine was wrong, so by the time the correct starter I ordered arrived all my friends had finished with there's. The mains came, and were ok, my burger was meh, but edible. Our plates were cleared and we asked for the desert menu. After waiting for roughly 30 minuets and no menu, my friend went to ask a waitress for them and he was told she was not serving our section. Another waiter appeared and we aired our overall dissatisfaction with the overall experience and how we felt shoved to the back, especially as there were still empty tables in the main part, and wondered if it had anything to do with our group. Would I go back to Browns Kingston...I can say its at the bottom of the list and the group of friends I was entreating, will not. An overall sad and unpleasant experience.

Came for Afternoon tea, the service is lovely and the live musician was great. The afternoon tea selection was okay, my husband and I were looking forward to the lobster brioche rolls but were disappointed. His had a hint of lobster flavour whereas mine had none at all, just the lemon mayonaise inside. The scones were tasty and warmed just right. Overall an okay experience but I think there are better afternoon tea places in Kingston to visit instead.

We were served by Albania and had an absolutely brilliant time. It was my mum's birthday and Alban was so attentive for our bottomless brunch, this experience far surpassed my previous of being neglected or not asked of my options for my next drink. Lovely meal and lovely service

This is my 2nd visit to Browns restaurant, I came here with two friends for our Christmas get together, we all had the Christmas set menu - the starters arrived very promptly We all picked the prawn cocktails, very tasty with nice freshly chunky bread. The roast turkey meal was delicious, but I did have to send mine back as it was cold! That arrived fairly quickly too! The vegetables was absolutely delicious, plus all the trimmings too. For our desserts we chose salted caramel profiteroles - which didn’t come with cream, but we did ask for some. They do add a service charge on their bills, which in my Opinion is a bit of a liberty, if we wanted to leave a tip we would! All in all we did have lovely afternoon/evening. My 3rd visit to Browns, with a friend who hasn’t been before, no beef roast dinner on offer as they had run out! We ordered chicken/pork roast dinners and asked for Yorkshire pudding to be added, didn’t realise we would be charged £2.50 for them. In my opinion this should come with any roast dinner! My first visit to the upstairs part of Kingston branch and it was cold from the aircon! The food tasted great but I wouldn’t say it’s value for money. The atmosphere with the piano playing was a nice treat.

Had a great experience with a friend. My burger was delicious and I had a lovely cocktail. Most of all I loved the decor, it looked new and very classy with a grand piano in the corner. Chairs are red velvet and very comfortable.
