Carousel in Stockport

Oh dear! A disastrous Christmas day lunch. Waited 2 and half hours. Only had starter. Manageress was understanding when we left, lack of staff. But we all(lots of people waited and gave up) should have been informed of this on arrival.

Good selection of food, good prices with plenty of deals , Tvs and pool table plenty of tables, free quiz Sunday afternoon. Staff are friendly an good towards are children offering colouring in etc

Came for the Jan bogof offer and was a bargain £15 for 2 steaks and 2 pints. Thanks to cat and Lee for their help.

Booked myself and the family in for Christmas Day as a treat. What a bargain it was. £51.99 for 4 courses, it was busy but that didn’t stop those working from giving us great service. The food all came out piping hot and the caramel salted dessert was to die for.

Food was very poor quality today. Spend over £50. Food arrived cold, not cooked to our preference. Coleslaw was shop brought you could tell the difference. Chef should be ashamed to send food out like that to paying customers. The waiting time to be served is slow due to lack of staff. Half the stuff on the meau wasn't in. Desert just arrived and was supposed to me warm it's stone cold. DON'T THINK I WILL BE COMING HERE AGAIN.

Had a great time here, the kids can struggle at times but the lad working (Lee I think) made sure they had a good time. He constantly checked in and made sure food came out in a reasonable time frame.

Came to the carousel for dinner with the family. Lee was great! He was really friendly, polite and helpful, we will come again. 😊

Booked for Christmas day lunch. Was very busy but we weren't informed that they were short staffed in kitchen. Sat for 2 and half hours and all we had was starter. People on next table had waited 3+ hours for dessert. So we gave up. Manageress was very understanding and apologised then told us of staff difficulties. We got refunded and a free meal at another date. Not the lady's fault but I think we should have been informed about long wait.

Another great experience this time met Cat and Jamie they was busy but still found the time to make our experience feel welcoming and personal.

My friends and I had a meal here for a 30th, we all really enjoyed it, the steak flatbread was cooked perfectly already got a table booked for next week, the lady working was so polite and helpful!

Came in yesterday quick service by Lee running around always service with a smile very good and good food good atmosphere will be going again

Went for Xmas dinner, booked for the 1pm sitting, people packed in like sardines, sat on uncomfortable chairs at a table made for 1 but there were 3 of us, no Xmas decorations up, no Xmas music, it didn't feel like Xmas at all, didn't get our starter until way after 2pm, the soup was luke warm, then waited an hour for the main, cold chips, the steak was fine, there must have been at least 50 people sat in a small room and I only seen 1 person clearing tables/setting tables & bringing food to the tables, they obviously couldn't deal with the amount of people they were so unprepared, we were still sat at the table waiting for dessert at 4pm and at this point we seen lots of people leave so I decided enough was enough and made a complaint to I assume was the boss, she boxed our dessert up and told us we would get a refund of a third of what I paid, it was just a really bad experience for what should have been a good day, poor service warm food, long waits and not festive at all, pure greed was put before making sure paying customers got a good 3 course Xmas meal. Will never go back to this place.

Great customer service from the bar staff a specially Tom c helped with everything we needed, would definitely eat here again

The area where the pool table is is meant to be an over 18 area only my nephew is 17 and we always play pool there but were told we are not allowed to. As we were walking out there was a 3 year old in the area. We ordered food online and most of it was out of stock. Spoilt our food choice. Please look at this pub and staff. Revamp the food menu, compared to other greene king pubs the menu is ridiculous

I been coming to this pub doing quiz every Tuesday for bout 10 years , I since staff come and go also every mangers past and old , the staff have always been friendly, food is always brilliant as always

Took the family for breakfast with Santa, and absolutely loved it. Enjoyed the food and the staff were great. The cooked breakfast really hit the spot. Lots of seating options.

Another dine and dance and another amazing experience, we watched George Michael tribute had a brilliant festive meal, the tables was decorated for us and the staff just looked after our group so well and they even made us a dance floor. Can’t wait for the next one.

It's OK no ales on again ......

Its been a while but thankfully Cat is still here and like id never left she had my drink and favourite channel on, brilliant landlady.

Always love this place in the office the food is really good for the price. It’s hit and miss. Sometimes you can go and be waiting a very long time but others it’s okay. The atmosphere is also hit and miss if the regulars that are in sometimes it’s very rowdy And not a place to take children but other times it’s okay. We usually go here and use the office if there is a large group of us.

Brought my daughter and grandchild, my grandchild has special needs and wasn’t too happy about being out the house. A huge thanks to Cat who helped with my grandchild so we could eat and then proceeded to keep him entertained and made our stressful situation a lot calmer, she provided stickers, colouring in and toys. It was really refreshing to her take the time with us.

Landlady (cat) was extremely rude. Even went on to slag one of the people I was with off to me. Then proceeded to make this an issue when returned at a later date thinking maybe she had a bad day and gave her the benefit of the doubt. Not professional in the slightest. The rest of the bar staff and kitchen staff are lovely and so helpful and make the place a welcoming and calm environment making you feel at ease.

Nice average food 👌, as managed they tend to throw you out as soon as possible at last orders. No snacks served behind bar crisps nuts ect .

Popped in for late lunch. Staff and service excellent. Toilets and baby changes need to be updated as they are unsafe.

There was a large party of us for a 60th. Some of my family can/were a little difficult but the barman (Paul I think he was called) was amazing. The food was great for the price and everyone left happy!

Came last night with the family for our annual get together. We always try to come here first cause the staff just go above and beyond. The food was hot and tasty and as usual the staff was on it and really friendly.

I go every Tuesday night for the quiz the staff are so friendly and funny always laughing with you , lee and jamie and also the great Bolton fan Paul always go that extra mile and have a laugh with you they are like friends rather than staff i would recommmed the place to eveyone

I was on a jaunt in the fair lands of Reddish and came over all peckish. Stomach growling, I lurched into action to acquire some beige comestibles and fermented barley to satiate me and further develop my risk of heart attack. As I meandered through the dreary streets, there appeared on the horizon a shining beacon of boozy triumph. Glistening on the afternoon breeze, stood proudly the word 'Carousel'. I required no further invite and bounded towards the Grail-like structure with glee. I stepped across the threshold and was instantly greeted by a the glorious aroma of ale and chip fat. With reckless abandon I set about finding a throne to purch my fat arse. A cheeky fellow, who had a faint resemblance to a hobbit, appeared as if summoned by gods of ale and diabetes to furnish me with the best damn menu I've ever grasped. He stood twirling his elaborate beard and discussing the specials, of course everything within the establishment was special, so imagine my surprise when he explained there was a separate section dedicated to items of even higher calibre. He introduced himself as Stephen, the kitchen manager, but I knew then this was a man of quality. I ordered a pint of Guinness, like any self respecting man first thing on a Sunday afternoon. I stood in awe of his command of beer pouring timings, amazed that he utilized his ornate pocket watch to perfectly sequence the intricate task. He slipped the pocket watch back into his waistcoat and slid the pint glass towards me (apparently I'm now sitting at the bar) without spilling a drop. 'this must be what meeting God is like' I mused. *He only did this if he is meant to be pouring beer. If not, then he didn't do it, but was still solely responsible for my outstanding experience.* Stephen, the Kitchen Manager, who I met on Sunday 27th October 2024 (when he was definitely on shift) is by far and away the best staff member in Greene king, who works in the Stockport area, mainly at the carousel, on that given Sunday, I have ever encountered. Bravo sir, take a bow.

Brilliant and respectful staff with really great prices. Always feel welcome when arriving. One of the staff called paul is extra welcoming and very helpful.

The food was great but to be greeted by pretty much naked women supposedly in Halloween fancy dress was appalling & their manor and behaviour. MANY people complained but the staff seemed to scared to say anything or remove them. I will not be coming here again around Halloween. Not what I want to see nor my kids to see non of us knew where to look made us very uncomfortable

Booked a table for our son’s birthday, was surprised to arrive and a section of the table was set out for kids with colouring and some little toys, the extra consideration was truly thoughtful. The food was really nice and very quick and all the staff we had the pleasure to meet was really nice.

Great food and service, it’s was rammed and the staff was smiling and smashed through it, hats off to them.

Came in the afternoon for a meeting, quiet little booth in the corner was ideal for what we needed and the food offers are that good it lured us in to eat.

My friend and I booked a lunch here so we could have a little catch up. We received a warm welcome from the bar man (sorry I never caught your name!) whom I have been served by during quiz nights here and he is friendly and efficient. My friend and I then chose a table outside in the sun. Although on a main road, the Carousel is set back far enough for the outside seating to be peaceful and private. There is a covered area to protect you from the elements too. We had tacos with halloumi and these were a delicious light lunch. Really good service and all in all a great experience. Thank you.

The chef Steve cooked me and my family a meal it was very nice. We all felt very welcomed. This was my first time going here and I will definitely be going again.

Just popped in for lunch, there was a family quiz on, free to enter, and great fun and entertaining, the host was great fun. Served by Lee who was great and very polite and attentive. Food was great value and we all all loved it.

From our warm welcoming arrival, greeted by Jamie a great ambassador for the Carousel & Green Finch, it was a lovely Sunday lunch experience. Good recommendations on the dishes available and the decision to get the rib of beef was an amazingly good decision. Perfectly cooked, it fell off the bone so beautifully. Reasonably priced, it was extra sweet to know with Jamie’s help, I could use the NHS Blue Card discount. Thanks Jamie & team for a lovely experience.

Came for bonkers bingo and what an experience it was, the host and Dj was friendly and funny, they treated everyone like family. Can’t wait for the next one!

Love this pub why? Cos it's DOG friendly travel from middleton worth the drive Thanks to Kath & staff who were ever so loving to my Martha ( staffie ) provided with water and treats ........ steak n ale pie is delicious by the way... so gets my thumbs up ... 5*

Interesting the blond Manager keeps popping up, she is rude, arrogant and miserable, she really throws her weight around snapping at customers and thinks shes the 'big I am', :) she works in a pub.. this clearly wasn't a good career choice for her and she takes it out on customers and she speaks down to the staff as I heard them talking about her, love..... if you don't like your job move- your not a tree. You have a bad attitude and most of the reviews are about your bad manners!!

Had an amazing time! Food was absolutely amazing! Me and my family really enjoyed it, My son is quite difficult sometimes but the server Cat cheered him right up and made a real effort in her work! She was an absolute star with us , aswell as serving our food perfectly and in quick time as being a delightful person to talk to! 100% will be coming here again!

Had a roast dinner and it was horrid! Soft roasters.soggy veg, frozen mash that was like cement, pigs in blankets were like the xmas leftovers.would never go there again! Rank!

Had a great time at the Carousel, cane in with my family for food one evening and the service we were given by Lee was impeccable. He really took the time to make sure we enjoyed our experience.

This place has hit rock bottom. It's been going down hill for a few years! We've been going in for nearly 10 years now, and this is the worst it's ever been. The last three menu's have been poor. I understand costings have gone up massively. So standard's and quality will suffer, but for a pub/restaurant to run out of garlic ciabatta (part of the mac and cheese option) early on a Friday evening is ridiculous (they haven't had it for weeks apparently) gone are the days of chefs just knocking up some garlic butter.... but that's chain pub legislation I suppose. No imagination or freedom nowadays, just robots. The staff are trying, they're just looked massively understaffed. You also need to start vetting people at the door too! Dog rough some of them!! Bring back swinging kebabs and bin lid challenges!

This is actually the worst place I've ever eaten out. The blonde manager was very rude to my friend for asking a simple question. The food was abysmal, the gammon was white! Batter on the chicken wasnt cooked properly , food was tasteless frozen chicken burger was extremely dey ect My friends left nearly their whole plates and ours went pretty untouched too. You don't expect much with these pub chains but it was actually shocking. We wouldn't go back . Theres plenty of parking and it was dead on a Saturday evening.

I come in fairly regularly and see the place as Home from Home. Staff are well trained and always friendly. Lee particularly is always hard working and friendly whether I have friends in or find myself in on my own
