Had a lovely meal here, service was superb and food was lovely. Quiet Saturday night but that was quite welcome. I thought reasonably priced compared to other central London locations that would pull your pants down

Visited with 8 colleagues on a Wednesday night and was pretty disappointed with CG. Expected better based on the reviews. Had the Christmas menu and the Turkey roast was poor. It wasn’t presented well and the cuts were very gristly. The veg on the side weren’t cooked through in some instances. It’s just annoying when you pay so much for what looked like a half-job. Won’t be back here for entertaining my team.

Went there for our anniversary lunch and it was a wonderful experience accompanied with delicious food and kind service.

We enjoyed a great dinner here. Nice wine selection and fine service. Entrees and sides were both terrific.

Had dinner with 2 friends and it was a very pleasurable experience. The Caxton Grill is part of the St Ermin's Hotel and you will not be disappointed if you visit. We had the Gazpacho Soup, Venison Tartare, Gin Cured Salmon, Catch of the Day, Sirloin Steak, Cauliflower Steak, Brocoli, Chips, and French Beans, followed by the Vanilla White Chocolate Mousse (with as glass of Tokaji). All the courses were delicious. We were all very satisfied......the only thing I would have liked would have been an extra slice or two of the salmon with the starter, but it was very tasty and the trout and horseradish mouse was excellent. My steak was perfect. Big thick cut, juicy, well cooked.....one of the best steaks I have eaten (and i have had many recently!) The service was excellent. Friendly and attentive. The restaurant works well for families, couples, or business dinners.

An absolute gem if you want quality food and a quiet spot for a business lunch. Food is fresh and of the highest standard.

Really good meal, polite staff, great service. It was quiet when we went in so can’t say what the Atmosphere is truly like, but the decor and food and drink were great.

Sunday night dinner at 7:45pm. Relaxed, friendly service. Toasted mackerel, burger, BBQ short ribs and French bean all perfectly done and quite tasty. To an American palette, the beans slightly undersalted, but easily remedied. Delicious and flavorful otherwise. I enjoyed the glug-glug of the fish-shaped water pitchers, an odd and fun touch. An elegant and enjoyable dining experience.

An incredible address in Westminster! We came for dinner with my partner and had a perfect time from welcome to departure. The setting is magnificent. The servers were adorable and attentive. Absolutely excellent food. It’s flawless and I recommend this address with my eyes closed!

Very pleasant welcome. A beautiful table near the window, quiet. We had a one-hour slot which was respected perfectly. The meat was excellent.

Caxton Grill is an elegant restaurant in the heart of London a stone's throw from Big Ben. It is located inside a beautiful hotel but can also be accessed from a reserved entrance from the street without passing through the hotel. Greeted by courteous and smiling staff, we were offered hot bread and butter. We continued with carpaccio with truffle and sprouts, continued with a 300g steak still red hot with wine reduction, green beans and potatoes. Paired with Argentine wine by the glass (nice wine list, many bottles displayed in dedicated showcases all over the world). Finished with an excellent espresso. Well-kept and elegant spaces, attention to detail, impeccable service: a wonderful place!

We had a lovely time at Caxton grill!! We sat at the bar, ordered a martini and another cocktail that was so good. I highly recommend you get the sticky toffee pudding it was delicious!!!😍 The bartenders were also so so nice!

Not only did he provide recommendations, but he also regaled us with a brief introduction to the hotel and restaurant. Given the time constraints, we unanimously decided to indulge in the main course only, as my son had to swiftly return to his office after his lunch break. Surprisingly, we all independently gravitated towards the tantalizing Freedown Hill olive-fed Wagyu steak burger, adorned with a delightful tomato relish, crisp gem lettuce, and accompanied by the heavenly aroma of smoked Applewood Cheddar ,steak chips. To add a touch of variety, we also savored some delectable roasted root vegetables. As my daughter ordered a cocktail to delight her senses, I opted for a glass of Malbec Mendoza from the renowned vineyards of Argentina, which perfectly complemented the flavors of our meals. Despite the slight variation in ingredients due to our gluten-free requirements, the harmony of flavors surpassed our expectations, leaving us thoroughly satisfied. I cannot emphasize enough the exceptional role played by Nahid, whose remarkable service and leadership left an indelible impression on us, both as honored guests and as members of the staff. Caxton is such a disappointment. Dead atmosphere for lunch. Food is trendy but poorly cooked and presented Wagyu Skirt should be lovely but was dumped on a plate overcooked with no skill or attention. What a shame.

Recently visited for a business dinner and my meal started well with a lovely beef carpaccio. For main I opted for the 400g sirloin from the “specials” detailed to us by our waiter, sadly it was extremely fatty and had a fairly large section of gristle through the middle as well as being a tad overdone (requested medium rare and it was much more medium than rare). At £48 (without any sides) I personally expected a better quality piece of meat. Overall a reasonable meal due to the great starter, friendly waiter and lovely Irish coffee to finish. Would I return, potentially but I’d be avoiding the steak options

Really slow Got a drink and sat empty with no food for 45 min. Waiter asked if we were ready to order and turned and walked off as we said yes. So many amazing places in the area….This isn’t one of them. Walking distance to Noble Palace which is fantastic. Try that instead

Wonderful night...Food was great... thanks to Iirenee (manager and front reception) who gave us a very warm welcome and Ruth who gave us great service at our table. The food (soup burrata, a mRinated skirt steak and a cheesecake) was really well cooked and tasty

This is a really lovely place to spend an evening having dinner! The only reason I give four stars instead of 5 overall is because of the size of the starters we had. The quality of the food was wonderful but would have loved more of the starters we had! The non alcoholic cocktails are really yummy and the service I received once I had told them I am currently 7 months pregnant was brilliant. They double checked everything they needed to with me and all staff were very friendly! I had the Welsh Lamb rump as my main and my partner had the Caxton burger as his main and we can both say we really enjoyed our food!

As I ventured into Caxton Grill, discreetly nestled inside St. Ermin's Hotel, I couldn't help but marvel at the ample space that it offered. The layout, featuring intimate corners, high tables, and of course, the inviting bar, provided the perfect cover for covert meetings. The intimate areas, well, they held secrets just as well as they held conversations. The high tables, where one could exchange documents without drawing suspicion, were strategically placed. As for the bar, let's just say that its counterintelligence was as impeccable as its cocktails. Speaking of cocktails, the selection was somewhat limited, but the mixologists had an uncanny ability to concoct anything one desired. A trait that any spy would appreciate; they never blinked an eye, even when my requests grew more complex. The food, considering the context of a hotel bar, exceeded expectations. It was satisfying, providing the sustenance needed to keep my espionage endeavors on track. Now, the service – it was truly amazing. The staff operated with such precision and discretion that I couldn't help but wonder if they had been trained in the art of espionage themselves. And here's the twist – the bar was so good that I couldn't help but think about changing sides, much like the ebb and flow of wartime allegiances. The atmosphere was so inviting that even a seasoned spy could find themselves contemplating a different path. As I savored my drink, I couldn't help but notice the number of Americans patronizing the establishment. It felt as though there were more of them than secret agents in wartime Berlin. I suppose you could say it was a "friendly invasion," much like our American allies during World War II. In conclusion, Caxton Grill at St. Ermin's Hotel is a place that could make even a spy consider a change of allegiance, all while enjoying excellent service, intriguing spaces, and, of course, cleverly crafted cocktails.

Probably the most disappointing part of our vacation was the one time we ate here for breakfast. Our kids ate buffet, and we ate off menu. All of the food was just okay. The coffee was just okay. The service was subpar. I essentially had to beg for water and coffee. The poached eggs were perfectly made, but the rest was supremely underwhelming. I recommend skipping and heading down the street for breakfast or meals. It seems to have a lot of potential but sadly lacks in several fundamental areas.

We had a business lunch of 13 people for Theramex. Food was delicious, came out in a timely fashion and the staff were impeccable. Kudos to all of them, Winnie was great. Thank you to the Chef and the waiters / waitresses for making our team lunch such a successful one. We will definitely be back!

Lovely restaurant. All food cooked to perfection and a nice Pale Ale on tap for those connoisseurs who prefer beer to wine. Cod was excellent and sides were good too. Didn't have steak but the people who did said it was great.

After checking out Google & Trip Advisor for local options for our hotel we decided on Caxton Grill for our Friday night meal. It was my wife's Birthday on Saturday, with a full day's sightseeing and Theatre booked we chose Friday night to have a nice meal. We couldn't have chosen a nicer place, not too busy with a few loud tables and some children as this is part of a hotel. The menu was ok, we only had a main as the starters and desserts didn't stand out but boy were the steaks good. Exceptionally cooked with a nice side of chips and a great sauce. We were given bread to start and this was amazing on its own. We had a great bottle of wine but this was kept away from the table so had to rely on the staff to refill the drinks. Overall it was really good and I wouldn't have an issue coming back.

Had a wonderful evening in the Caxton Bar. I'd let them know I was expecting about 20 people for celebratory cocktails and when I arrived they'd set up a room for us at the back of the bar with a fire going. It felt private and intimate so everyone felt at right home immediately. The staff were welcoming and charming. It feels like a top notch venue without the pretentiousness. Afterwards two of us had dinner in the Caxton Grill, same lovely service, top quality steak and lamb cooked beautifully, best triple cooked chips I've ever had. St Ermins is a favourite venue of mine, I've had cocktail gatherings, afternoon teas and after work drinks with a friend there over the years and never been disappointed. Love it!

When I came into the restaurant. I was greeted by the confused hostess. Which was a great first impression. My first question to the waitress was, "How's the wagyu burger?" Her response, "It comes out medium. " First of all what am I supposed to do with that information? I pressed her saying, "That's not what I asked. How's the burger, what's it like, how's the flavor, what's your take on the burger. " She said, "The meat is minced and it comes out, sort of juicy but dry." The burger turned out to be dry and the waitress had never tried the burger. Would've been a totally different outcome if she had just said that. Moral of the story is this restaurant is over priced, the staff are untrained (at best or misleading at worst), the food is lackluster, and every thing in there is lacking self-awareness, and lacking attention to detail. Overall, I would give them 0 stats if I could.

They aren't open 24 hours. They were closed by midnight. Edit - kitchen is open until ~10pm. Bringing this up from 1 to 5 stars because once I finally got there on time, the service was beyond excellent, and the roast potatoes were a religious experience. The Iberico pork and the tomato/artichoke tartine were also delicious. Definitely recommend.

Fine restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. Special mention for Hafid. He has been fantastic in taking care of us at breakfast. The french toast with fruits and berries that he served today was excellent. Will come again for the hospitality and experience.

Came to London for the weekend for my girlfriends birthday. The Caxton Grill was a highlight! We were served by James who was the prefect host! Couldn’t ask for more from him. 10/10. Before our meal we had cocktails which set the tone for the level cuisine. The food was absolutely incredible. Could not fault anything we ate. All in all the whole experience was a 10/10. Highly recommend.

Appearance is great and the food is reasonable for the price, but on the occasion we visited there was 90 minutes between each course!

My partner and I visited the restaurant on Monday the 19th of December at 18:30. We had a mediocre experience food wise (especially considering the price we paid for 2 of over £100 for food) but the waiting service was actually very good. The chips were massively overcooked, the mac and cheese was extremely bland, the steak was very dry and everything was far too salty. Unfortunately later that evening my partner would begin to feel unwell (after having the salmon starter and the lobster main). She would then proceed to experience food poisoning and is still reeling from the symptoms. I am really disgusted in this experience, especially considering the prices they charge for the food and will be recommending all avoid the Caxton Grill. This was our engagement celebration dinner and they left us with a bitter memory.

A charming upscale pub type atmosphere is at the front of the restaurant near the bar. Surrounded by warm dark wood tones and romantic soft lighting, you can dine at cozy little nooks with plush armchairs or larger low tables with couches and cocktail chairs. In the back is a full dining room that is light and airy with large wooden tables, banquettes, and removable chairs for wheelchair accessibility. This is not the place to go for a quick bite to eat. Take your time and have a cocktail. Enjoy the olive bread and rosemary butter and the people you are with. I recommend the vegetable risotto. You must try their fat chips! The servers were gracious and efficient. The time spent in the Caxton Grill was very enjoyable. We ate there several times and ordered off their room service menu, which is available for guests at the St. Ermin's Hotel.

The location and decor are exemplary, but I've already reviewed that aspect for the hotel. This is about the food and service for the attached Caxton Grill which unfortunately was a little lacking. I had two visits, the first being an evening meal with colleagues. The staff were friendly and attentive at a times, but the food was coming out randomly and the staff didn't know who had ordered what. While some of us had finished our mains, others were still on starters. Side dishes to the mains came out after people had finished their food! My food was fine, but given the cost I was expecting better than just fine. For my other visit, we all had breakfast and unfortunately again most people had an issue with something. Whether that was slow service, lukewarm food or things you would expect were missing there seemed to be a general problem with organisation.

The manager was rude and over complicated things.

The atmosphere is cozy and inviting but the food is just above mediocre. I’ve tried two different dishes at different times and both times the food was good but nothing that matches the expectations of the price and atmosphere. Also the wait staff can get overwhelmed by priority clients, so I would not say they are rude so much as distracted. Caxton Geill is fine if you are in the area and would like a nice place to eat, but not a place you would travel to get an amazing meal.

We spent our 10 year anniversary here recently, which included a lunchtime tea on the terrace and breakfast in the hotel. Both were utterly exceptional and we will be returning even when we’re not staying here! Thank you to the staff for taking such great care of us and to the chef(s)!!

Very hospitable staff, wide selection of wines. Food was lightly flavoured in general but still tasty. Battered fish was crispy outside but soft inside, yummy. I'm satisfied with experience I had in this restaurant. Great atmosphere for special occasions.

Its Tier 2 in London so quiet and a limitted menu. That said the staff were superb working really hard in these difficult times. My burger was good and my wife's pasta was some of the best she has ever had.

Always a lovely experience at Caxton Grill. We went for dinner and had breakfast there as we stayed over at St.Ermin's hotel which is connected to Caxton Grill. Tasty food and the staff is very friendly. All safety measures have been put in place during this pandemic year but it still had a nice atmosphere. There is a kid's menu so suitable for families. My husband and I came back to where we got married and the staff made us very welcome indeed. Our little boy enjoyed himself as well :)

The risotto i had made me physically ill . I spoke to the restaurant manager Martin . Who put me through a mini Spanish Inquisition . The food my partner and I had were disgustingly overpriced overrated and vile . I am seeking legal action from friends , not even an apology !!!

Service was slow, food was average at best, especially for the price, and not as described on the menu (missing key ingredients). Would not return for food chairs were uncomfortably hard in dining room (some tables bad better chaors). Bar was nice and comfortable and well executed cocktails. Only go for the bar.
