Celino’s in Glasgow City

Was there on Sunday for lunch with my two friends. What a lovely welcome from Jamie as always. Food - all three of us agreed OUTSTANDING!!

Sorry, spend almost £100 and they forgot chips, and phoned and they took no responsibility at all. Pass onto Uber with no compromise I won’t buy from here again, albeit it’s only chips but no help at all after the amount of money spent.

raw calzone dough 🫣🫣🫣 i thought it was cheese so took a bit bite into it. but the staff were really nice and everyone else’s food was good.

Have been going since I was a kid and always loved it. Had five ciabatta blts in a row over christmas and they were all stunning. Never change!

Lovely produce and atmosphere with staff working really hard on Christmas eve when it's super busy at the counter. Shame the manager had to tell off the staff in front of a bunch of customers....not very Christmas spirit of her.

We popped in on our first night in Glasgow... and were offered a table before a later booking - we were grateful for that flexibility. The service was beautiful traditional Italian friendliness and knowledgeable guidance. The food was fabulous and plentiful. There is also a delicatessen, so you can take home more deliciousness.

Me and my family came to celinos east end a few days ago for a dinner celebrating a birthday. I have been to this establishment many times as I used to live in dennistoun for nearly four years and I had been for dinner on numerous occasions and I have even been to the partick restaurant as well several times. Each time the food has been great and the service spot on. However, on this occasion we were extremely let down. Me and my mum had starters which were of no issue. For main I had the mushroom penne off the festive menu, this was very disappointing and had little to no taste in the sauce and was very watery, I ended up switching with my sister as I didn’t want to eat the full thing. My mum had the seafood spaghetti with mussels and prawns. Briefly after beginning her main my mum put a mussel in her mouth and immediately spat it out as she said it tasted off and described it as tasting like a bin. After telling the front of house member who was looking after us about the issue he then came back and said something similar to ‘the kitchen has taken a look and doesn’t seem to think it is off’ and ‘we get bag loads of mussels in at a time and it’s difficult to tell if there’s going to be the odd one that is off’. Instead of acknowledging the fact that this had happened at that it was the restaurant’s fault, not my mums he then didn’t offer if she would like anything else and didn’t even take it off the final bill which she had to pay a supplement for because of the seafood. When paying the final sum he then commented saying my mum had the discount side of the cheque (paying 38 instead of 40 for me and my sister) when in fact the bill should of been less as her main course should of been redacted from the bill. Overall this experience left us frustrated and deflated mainly due to the fact we know how good Celinos is and has been in the past.

Busy when we went for brunch. Unfortunately although everything looked great, it really wasn’t that good. Coffee was tepid at best. Bacon was very fatty and curled up around the edges. Black pudding was over cooked and hard. Sausages were also a bit overdone. One of our party had French toast and she really enjoyed that.

Really upset with the service. I always buy produce from them as they have a great selection. I ordered £4 of parmigiana. The person serving me gave me this and said it was £5.80. When I said I needed it cut to grate it..he said this is how it's cut. I had to take it because I needed it but I've never seen anything so ridiculous.

Had lunch today and was delicious Staff really friendly and a ice authentic feel about the place Enjoyed it a lot

My Partner and i had Mussels and The veal dish for dinner, we found both dishes to be of poor quilty and not good value, Cocktail was the best value for money.

At 8 am no diners present waited 5 minutes and left italian waiter too busy setting up for lunch I was informed by another member of staff. Was so disappointed due to a road diversion and had a distance to walk won't be back

I don’t think I’ll be back here. Twice I have ordered food for pick up. They give you a time and I appear early and my pizza is sitting on the shelf 10 mins before my pick up time. Both times it has been cold. I also ate in one evening and got a calzone with a cold centre! I have sat outside and sat and sat they have poor table service. The food is ok but nothing to write home about. All together a very poor Italian themed restaurant!

Good Italian restaurant spot if you are looking for something different than traditional Scottish fare. Lots of pasta choices (including a gluten free pasta choice). My hubby had Chicken Parmesan which was quite tasty! Would recommend reservations, it was crowded when we arrived around 6:30 pm but because we had reservations we were seated right away.

Amazing, what a find, traditional family business with good old fashioned service, arrived early morning whilst they where setting up, typical glasgow weather 🌧️💦.Invited me in to sit, set up and then delivered a great breakfast, lots of character, great music and engaging chat. wonderful ✨

Love Celino's, first time we've been to this location, small cafe/ restaurant / deli, with a warm Italian welcome. The food was delicious, authentic and freshly made. They have a superb deli with loads of meats cheeses, breads, cakes, pasta, biscuits, food to take away. Very reasonably priced, can't wait to go back.

I enjoyed the visit for a meal, but I thought it wasn't just as good in relation to service. The bruschetta was fine. The veal milanese was very tasty and just the right size of portion once the spaghetti was added. I also enjoyed the tiramisu, although I had wanted the rum baba, but the restaurant had run out of rum babas by the time it came to order. I got a single espresso when I asked for a double, and it took a bit of time for a drinks order to be taken. The restaurant ambience was great, the staff friendly, but when you pay a bit for your meal, the service could have been better. I would definitely come back - perhaps just an off night.

Just wanted to send out a massive thank you to celinos for the food they put on for our party last night. Not a thing was left and I’m still receiving txts from guests raving about how good the food was! Such great value for the quality and service we received! Went here and had a lunch with my wife and friends. Fantastic food and the waiter was very chatty and good fun. Nice atmosphere and great deli counter for taking home nice bread, cooked meats, cheeses, olives, arancini etc., etc. Will definitely be back.

I ordered a pizza takeaway, and no one even informed me that my order was ready. Had to wait outside for 30 minutes and take home a cold pie

Just back from an excellent birthday celebration for our son. From start to finish the service was excellent. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed all their courses. What made it more special was that the staff were very engaging and attentive while they served the birthday cake and sang to us all (twice 😃). We will be back again for sure. Thank you!

Authentic and fresh Italian food. Every dish was fantastic. Relaxed and great for a family dinner. Service was excellent - our waitress Eve - was brilliant, very professional. Brian on hand to make sure all was good - and it was! Very good!!

Fantastic family run authentic Italian deli, tucked away on a busy Glasgow Street. The food is fresh and the service is second to none. Also one of the only places I've found in Glasgow that have the 'Golden layer' on there coffees, again authenticity wins out. This is a must visit for any foodie that finds themselves in Glasgows East end. I love a wee visit to this restaurant, whether it's to sit in or take out.

What a joy to find a real deli whose staff were exceptional and very helpful. Bear in mind I was shaky hungry on arrival and they accommodated my blue cheese sandwich request superbly and generously. With all the delicious aromas it was irresistible not to get a hearty sanny. Will definitely be coming back for a sit in meal with the missus. Definitely worth it.

Popped in for a coffee with a friend however the ambiance was so lovely on a wet Glasgow afternoon we decided to have a bite to eat both had paninis (massive) and fries. Had to get half boxed to go. Lovely friendly helpful staff. Fabulous selection of deli produce and mini bottle packs of aperol which y friend stocked up on. Made enquiries about the swing night in August but unfortunately fully booked.

My husband ordered 2 takeaway pizzas. He arrived to be told there would be a wait of 30mins? However the chef came out shortly and gave him pizzas. On arriving home 15mins later at most . The pizzas were literary stone cold. The crust looked okay a little charred, but the base was horrible, it was very soggy and most went in the bin We won't be back!

My daughter chose this restaurant because it's always packed of people and she had heard that the food is very good. We had a very nice dinner, and I must admit that the food was really good and very close to a real Italian experience. But the noise in the restaurant was too much for me. It might be the time we went, when it was fully booked. Our waiter was nice and friendly but we never got the water I asked for since the moment we sat! Pizza and pasta were excellent though.

Not impressed with Frederico ( I think restaurant manager).We arrived without a booking, asked if anything available to be told yes but you have it for under 1 hour. He proceeded to take our drinks order soda n lime glass red wine, we got soda n lime & glass white wine, the waitress changed it no problem with an apology. He took our food order, bread n butter & olives to share, lasange, penne pasta n meatballs. The bread arrived no olives, when we asked him about the olives, and he disappeared then dumped the bowl on our table no apology no nothing. We got our meals which were lovely as usual. He came to take away our plates to tell to us, "we dont want to order anything else & we had 10 mins to finish our drinks" then dumped our bill on the table.We have been eating, celebrating and partying at Celinos since it first began and that is the first time we have been treated so badly. Myself and my girlfriend visited Cellinos in Partick on Friday .We booked online , definitely do this as it was really busy. The food and drinks were superb , I would definitely recommend visiting. I had a bruschetta starter , absolutely loved it .Lots of tomatoes , bursting with flavour. Girlfriend had fungi fritti (mushrooms) in a creamy sauce.They were excellent. We both had penne pasta with Tuscan spicy sausage as a main .It was a bolognaise sauce . A side of focaccia and fries. The portions were large , so we struggled to finish our food.We had a bottle of red wine and some beers also. Thoroughly enjoyed everything. We will definitely return

Best italian restaurant in glasgow by far, staff and food was exceptional as usual

I am a great supporter of Celino's n have always enjoyed eating there. This review pertains to the takeaway microwaveable meals which you can buy there. Usually these have been very good, but recently l have noted a drop off in the quality. I bought a spaghetti bolognaise which seemed to be mostly spaghetti n a chicken resotto l bought the other day was distinctly lacking in any flavour I hope someone from celinos reads this and gets on the case for making sure these meals return to their previous high standards

We visited recently at lunchtime but unfortunately it'll be our last time. The tables are exceptionally close together to the point of being uncomfortable. The service was very slow & after ordering we considered leaving before the food arrived as it was an excessively long wait. We both had a sandwich with chips. The bread was far too hard & the chips were inedible due to again being too hard & crispy. No salad or garnish so the plate looked quite sad. When the server took away our unfinished food he didn't enquire why we hadn't eaten our meal. Strange if they want happy customers.

The restaurant is compact and comfortable. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful and their patience was tested by us. The atmosphere was good but loud, (but we contributed to that) and the food was tasty, hot ( temperature) and plentiful.

In my 47 years on this green earth I've never consumed food of such quality, of such calibre, than the food i ate on that day. It was like being in heaven, it was better than anything I'd ever had, it was truly sublime. I will not be able to eat anything again for the rest of my life without being reminded that it will never compare to what i ate in Celinos, and i thank you for this.

I had what was perhaps my best customer service experience in my entire life with Celinos. The manager(/owner I guess) is truly great and the company generally gives a masterclass in ‘customer first’.

Booked a table for this morning as usual coffee is wonderful with a nice wee touch of a free little tasty fough ball as a side.I had the Full Scottish vety nice it was my wife opted for Toast with Italian Bread and eggs that too i am told was vety nice.will defo ve returning soon. Regards W.Ross.

We were told this place ws great so we went and bought quite a lot of carry out food to heat and eat at home. I had a macaroni ball as a starter or should I call it a BLAND ball. Then I had macaroni cheese again no seasoning very bland. I know that a lot of food these days is salt and sugar free but FFS when it's pasta it needs salt when cooking. I just hope the other dishes we have bought are not BLAND

Italian restaurant which cannot do risotto and pasta. Big chunk of salt mixed with rice in my risotto that I had to spit it out. Never experienced this in my life. Told the waiter, but experienced no apology or sympathy. Weirdest thing is that he ignored what I just said and was still asking “is it okay”. I didn’t want to lie but also didn’t want to embarrass my family, so I was like “emmmmm”. Something was wrong with the meatball pasta as well my partner didn’t touch the meatball which was one of his favorite dish but he’s just being British saying he’s not hungry. We were seated in the middle of passage, people constantly bump my chair feel like in a crowded train. You need to examine your recipe or train staff. We spent £30 each,can get way better food and services in 99% other restaurants in this country. Honestly!

I mean look at the photo of the carbonara I was served and decide for yourselves. It was overcooked spaghetti with scrambled eggs and garlic? Don’t know why there was garlic there but it was not good. Staff was nice enough, although I had to ask for a drink refill since nobody came back to check on our table.

This was the first visit to Celino’s for all of our party and we decided to book for lunch to celebrate a 30th Birthday. When we arrived the ambience of the place was amazing with the shop at the front selling lots of lovely cheeses, hams, wines to takeaway and the lovely welcoming dining area. We were seated and the service was excellent with the waiting staff giving us our menus and taking our orders for drinks and food which was very prompt and attentive. When the food arrived it definitely did not disappoint with the portions being very generous. I had the Turkey roast which was delicious with lots of roast potatoes, and roasted veg and I would highly recommend this dish. My husband went for the lasagne which came with lots of large pieces of beef in a delicious ragu sauce which he said was one of the best he had tasted. The whole experience of Celino’s was fantastic and we would definitely visit again when we are next in Partick and would like to say a big thank you to all the waiting staff especially, Nazim and Lauren who went above and beyond to make our visit for lunch a very special day.

Food was absolutely amazing so fresh and tasty. There was a mix up with an order and the staff made no issue changing it for me. The atmosphere and service of every staff member is second to none. Definitely the best Italian restraunt I've been to. Brian was incredibly charming and really put a smile on our face.

This restaurant had been recommended many times to us but tonight was our first time visiting. We ate off early evening menu and both our starters of bruschetta and mushrooms with polenta were plentiful and delicious. We had risotto and lasagna which were again most delicious. Staff were very attentive and friendly. We also treated ourselves to a few treats from their deli. An absolute must visit for anyone who loves Italian food. Excellent food, service and value for money and well worth travelling for! Book via 5pm.com and you get a free glass of wine ☺️

Not as special as it once was. French toast with mozzarella and ham and maple syrup sounded great, but got served a cheese and ham toastie, immediately let down by presentation. Very ordinary cafe food and twice the price. Waiter sprayed the table adjacent with cleaning spray that was sprayed so much it ended up on our table and food and having to breathe it in. When you’ve liked a place for so long and ur trying to find the good points, that really didn’t help.

have been a customer for over 23years and have previously written a review regarding your fab scrambled eggs which were the best ! However in Monday my son got us a take away and my eggs and toast were more like a battered up omelette I just assumed the chef had taken their eyes off and forgot to stir until it had set causing them to break it up. However on Wednesday I sat in for a full vegetarian breakfast with scrambled eggs and again it was greasy and like a omelette broken up not your usually fab quality at all the waiter who removed my plate didn’t ask if I enjoyed the breakfast nor did the waitress who took my payment or I would have informed them no and the reason why. Needless to say it has put me off returning

Great atmosphere and fantastic food. Both the Gamborini & Lasagne were fantastic.

Firstly, after letting us study the menu for 10 minutes we were informed they had none of the selection of seafood required for our pasta dish. They also forgot our cheesy garlic bread and eventually brought it after we’d eaten half of our pasta. The white wine and cream sauce was completely absent. Our pasta was slightly damp, no “sauce” in sight. The cheese on our garlic bread was like a tasteless, white, rubbery lump of elastic. At least try mixing something in there with some taste! How about some Parmesan for example? All in all, the most disappointing Italian meal we’ve had in years. The ironic twist here is that they are asking their patrons to vote for them in the upcoming Italian restaurant awards. Good luck with that!

Watied 30 min from order. Food was very poorly presented. And at best look warm. .

Food was okay not great like it used to be. And the presentation was terrible like the food was just thrown on the plate.

I've eaten at Celino's thrice this month and it's one of the most authentic Italian foods that I have ever eaten! Each experience has been amazing and the portion size, food and service has been on point. Definitely recommend!

Great little place which offers dine-in, takeaway and shopping options. Good sized portions and a great selection of fresh made pasta recipes, as well as an excellent wine selection.

Perfect little lunch. Kids had some gorgeous pepperoni pizza and our antipasti was lovely 😍 friendly serving staff too.

Cosy Italian spot in east glasgow with not only nice dine-in and take away, but also the perfect place to buy some yummy Italian goods. We got a ciabatta and a panini and they were so good! Defined would recommend, and i’ve we had longer in Glasgow, we would defined have visited more often.

Worst service we've had for a while. Waited 50 minutes for our meal to come, not ideal when we had our young grandchild with us. The restaurant felt very cramped and not enough attention to customers. Nobody to check if we had enough to drink or to clear away our plates when we were finished. My seat was right at the entry to the restaurant and the take away counter, it was uncomfortable with so many people coming and going for me to relax and enjoy my meal.

7 of us went for a family night out. Whole experience was 1st class. Highly recommended

I try to get here for breakfast at least once a month. Eggs Benedict is to die for, staff are very friendly and attentive. Tables feel very close proximity to others. Reasonably priced.

Always come here when I'm visiting my mum. Dinner is almost always from here.

We booked for a 21st, party of 25 (ended up 19 due to last minute cancellations -sorry). We arrived at 7.30 and the tabled was set and reserved waiting for us. Our table waiter was spot on (fantastic humour and very attentive) - told us he got a promotion - to 'chairperson', which he then insisted on helping some of the party in to their seats. His humour and many other jokes was spot on and made us laugh lots. This set the tone for the night. The food tasted great, portion sizes fab and we received amazing service - outstanding. The staff went above and beyond and nothing was a hassle. Children in the party were kept amused with plenty of drawing and colouring activities so no any wee moans or groans about being bored. Celino's allowed us to bring our own cookie birthday cake to 'toast' the celebration and they even went above and beyond by cutting it up and serving it out without purchasing desserts. Thank you for giving us a wonderful evening x We certainly will be back x x

A go to local for me, lovely staff and a brilliant Italian deli. The food is solidly good, I love the pollo Milanese and pavlova, nice wine selection too. Would recommend making a reservation in advance.

can't count how many times I have been to Ceoino's, the food and staff are always great. Beautiful restaurant and deli counter. Brian the waiter is always available for a joke or two as well. I look forward to my next visit.

Absolutely amazing as always. All the servers are so kind and accommodating and the maître d'hôtel runs the restaurant so well, again excellent at accommodating to our needs. Food was delicious as usual however it’s a bit more expensive now but that’s to be expected and cocktails tasted amazing!

Lovely place. Excellent food. Very busy and loud so good for large parties. Not a fan of the lasagna, but when you've had the best (italian mama) nothing comes close. Think you can sit outside too. Deli part delish but expensive!! Worth it tho.

Had to wait 20 minutes before i was able to order, once ordered i had to wait another 15 minutes for my food from the Deli counter. Once i got my food and left - about half way though my egg and bacon roll i find a 20cm long strand of human hair in my roll all covered in egg. Absolutely disgusting and will never return.

I just had a lovely lunch at Celino’s. Despite being Valentine’s Day they were able to seat a single lady, and the pasta was delicious and the white wine beautifully chilled.

decided to take my dad for brunch last Sunday - I had the full breakfast which was fantastic. No lorne sausage, but had the Italian sausage instead and that was delicious. Poached egg, perfect! And mushrooms also done perfectly. Highly recommended.

This place has a great atmosphere. Although my calzone I had was freezing in the middle and the cheese was not melted properly. The pasta dish looks like it covered in Heinz’s Tomato sauce and is sweet. Price wise it is expensive for some items for what you get! This was my first impressions but I will try it again to give it a second chance! Also I took a few pictures of the meats, hams and jars you can buy when you are in there also!

1st time had a breakfast.. decent full plate.. if I'm being critical, poached egg a tad over cooked... Coffee good and a good wee shop inside too.

This is the best pizza I’ve had outside Italy. It’s unreal good. Also surprisingly for an Italian the chips are the best I’ve had. Everything is so so good. In terms of the breakfast the portions are really generous and always warm. The deli is also amazing so much choice and the staff have always been lovely when I have been in. One of my favourite places in Glasgow.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Perfectly cooked seafood and fresh pasta coupled with great value Italian wine. The atmosphere is intimate, staff attentive and the full Italian deli on site gives a real authentic feel. One of the best Italian meals we've had in a long time.
