Have wanted to visit for many years as I live close by but have been slightly put off by the lack of variety for vegans and vegetarians (as is the case in most high end restaurants). Decided to put these reservations aside as the festive cocktails looked so appealing. From start to finish it was a polished, professional and delicious experience and does make you wonder why you’d ever bother going into London to find fine dining again when it’s right on your doorstep. Was welcomed into the bar first where the cocktails were wonderful (and potent!) then tried the vegetarian gnocchi with sides. Although the portions look small, the food is rich and filling, and a delight to the tastebuds. Another big win for me is food served on hot plates as I eat very slowly and hate cold food. Why doesn’t every restaurant do this? Perfect service and will definitely be back.

One of my favourite restaurants for special occasions . Staff are always helpful and polite topping up wine etc discreetly without interrupting. The food is always very good with a good choice including a vegetarian option and fish along with an excellent wine list. The noise level is low, even with larger parties, so a party of two can chat quietly. Seating is comfortably spaced so there is a nice distance between tables.

It was our first visit and hopefully not the last. I would certainly like to try more items on the menu and different menus as well. The food was really delicious and well presented. Food was lovely - had tacos & chicken👍 Sorbet after as dairy intolerant - would have been nice to have presented a little better in a glass coupe with a crispy Tuille - Rather than plain white bowl! Was a reunion for a group of old friends but quite noisey to talk even having asked for a quiet table!

Amazing food. I had the Veloute of Jerusalem artichoke with a poach hen's egg and I was in heaven, mellow artichoke taste, not too over powering and the mix with the egg was perfect. The main coarse was the fillet steak and is the best fillet steak I have ever eaten. I guess the only gripe is that on some of the main coarses you will have to order extra sides so the cost increases. I had French beans with my steak and they were lovely but the potatoes were dry and some of the food was not piping hot, it came out to us warm but I would still highly recommend it to everyone. Oh yes, the service from everyone was absolutely first class and there is only a 7.5% service charge whereas other places I have been to charge 12 or 12.5%.

Not been for a while, and booked the brasserie. The staff from the moment I walked in, I could not fault - they were friendly and efficient. Starters, there was a good choice, well presented & tasty. Mains - ribeye, was well cooked. My wife had the sea bass, which was ok, but a little underwhelming. Desserts - sticky toffee pudding lived up to its name ! Again the lady waitress was excellent, friendly, chatty, and knowledgeable. I will definitely go back.

A beautifully appointed restaurant and overall fine dining experience. On arrival we were warmly greeted by our hosts and escorted to our table by numerous friendly and courteous staff. Service was swift, polished professional. Our waitress was a lovely lady, very patient in answering our questions and engaging in conversation about the restaurant. Starter was a lobster raviolo and was really delicious, the delicate crepe pastry went really well with the lightness of the lobster filling. Main course was venison, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection although I think the portion size should have been just a bit larger. Dessert was a lovely warm apple tart tatin, rich with cinnamon and well balanced between the sweet and the tartness. The only issue is a minor one and is largely not the fault of the restaurant. There was a party of approximately seven people in the middle of the room who started loud and made more and more noise as the night wore on until my friend and I literally couldn't hear our own conversation. The staff totally failed to address this problem so I had to take it upon myself to quieten them down in my own inimicable style. It was frustrating that a Michelin star fine dining experience was marred by the failure of the staff to deal with people who had all the grace of a hen night in Blackpool. I'm not overreacting or being a snob about this. I have no problem with people having fun and being a bit boisterous but this was just ridiculous. Other than that minor blemish I think this is a really good restaurant and well worth a visit.

Just love Chapter One. It is my go to for special occasions. There have been some changes since my last visit and the menu was just great. A wonderful lobster ravioli ( £5 supplement) starter, and then venison. Gorgeous. My husbands' main course was partridge. Again wonderful. Just nice to have some different choices. Our waiter was a gem. It makes such a difference.

My husband and I have dined at Chapter One on several occasions over the the past 9 years. Each time has been very special and the food delicious. Yesterday was not one of those experiences unfortunately. I can’t tell you why specifically but our food was just lacking something special. The shared apple tarte tatin wasn’t particularly good and usually the dessert part of the meal is spectacular. Maybe we just chose wrong but i did feel underwhelmed last night

Some the decor in the dining room would benefit from a little bit of a refresh. More vegetarian options would be great. I was advised by the waiting staff that none of the standard desserts are vegetarian which was a little disappointing. I was offered an alternative but this wouldn’t have been something I would ordinarily have chosen. Overall a lovely evening.

We chose this spot for our anniversary dinner… and it couldn’t have been more perfect. From the moment we stepped in, everything felt just right… soft lighting, gentle music, and a cozy, intimate vibe that set the scene beautifully. The staff welcomed us warmly… attentive but never hovering… it felt like they knew exactly when we needed them. The menu… wow. So many tempting choices, it was hard to decide. Last night’s return to Chapter 1 left me a little confused. Not sure if it was the sheer volume of services they were dealing with (it was rammed), but the food on all 4 corners of our table lacked the lustre that we expected for a £500 bill. Yes, you read that right. £500 for 4 people. The Partridge main had been left under a grill or heating lamp for so long, the top of the bird was dry and stiff - almost uncuttable. The jugged hare starter was boldly poorly judged in terms of flavour - the rich, challengingly ‘twangy’ hung game meat completely overbalancing the rest of the dish. The work of a novice with such a rare and flavoursome ingredient. My wife was visibly disappointed by the Iberico ‘red-meat’ pork, which was extremely chewy, and lacking in any great flavour beyond the smoky barbecue char. Two bottles of wine (an exceptional Chilean Syrah complemented the game dishes perfectly) were appreciated, but overall, I’d really have to say the eating experience felt like the kitchen is going backwards, not forwards, since our last visit in August. Service and atmosphere still top notch, but something’s amiss in the kitchen. Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Value for money: Has to be a 2. Fine ingredients ruined by poor execution.

Food was great but staff bad. One man cared none of the other staff did. Smell of bleach in main restaurant was told it was a freshener but smelled like Harpic. We got told the “problem was solved” since they moved us outside no applogy and seemed like an inconvenience. It took 3 members of staff to take some glasses away only the man noticed, 0 attentiveness. I will not be dining here again.

We arrived to a mildly empty restaurant; nice atmosphere and good spacing between tables. Our table was wonky. Which was annoying but fixed with a napkin. Waitress was pleasant and attentive. Tacos were tasty. Oysters were fresh but the shells were not cleaned adequately meaning I had bits of shell in my mouth after resting the shell on my bottom lip to eat them. This Made them unpleasant and bitty. Roast dinners arrived; both cooked to our liking but the gravy over sweet and the roast potatoes albeit crispy, were al dente which was not to my liking at all. I did not finish the plate of food. There were no option for cauliflower cheese or different seasonal veg side dishes which was a shame as red cabbage is an acquired taste. Sticky toffee pudding was very nice but the ice cream was more of a garnish which was a shame. Overall, it was pleasant but not wow. Smiths restaurants blow it out the water and is at the same price point. Wine list was vast but lacked some really nice older wines which was a shame. The best wine on the list (IMO) was a 2008 Talbot! It would have been nice to have the option of having something quite special, there are lots of second wines out there for £100 a bottle which would still make a good mark up for the restaurant. I real missed opportunity (again IMO) Overall it was good but not great and that’s a real shame.

We enjoyed a very delicious meal at Chapter One in the main restaurant. Before being seated we had a drink at the bar and chatted to the bar men who were very personable and educated us on the various cocktails they were preparing. We chose from the three course menu. I had the monkfish and my companions both had the scallop ceviche, both dishes were lovely. I then had the venison which was sooooo good followed by a naughty but nice custard tart. It really was wonderful. Service was impeccable throughout the meal.

Had a Sunday lunch roast. The beef was cooked perfectly, and was lovely. The potatoes were crispy however could have been a bit more fluffy inside. The cabbage was way too sweet however the green beans were nice. The gravy was lovely however not enough on my plate and had to ask for more. The service was very attentive and the waiters were happy.

We had another private dining experience for my 70th birthday at Chapter One. 28 persons, for a full three course lunch. Great choices for the menu, and the food was as good as when we dine in the restaurant. The event was very well organised by Tania and the service from Harry, Jack and Will was superb, courteous and prompt. The lunchtime menu is very good value for Chapter One, considering its excellent reputation. There were enough other tables occupied to create a nice buzz of conversation, the food, drink and service were all excellent. It was very generous to expect a tip of only 7.5%, which was richly deserved. Ideal for a special occasion.

I’ll keep this short. We live locally to Chapter One and have visited the restaurant on many occasions over the years. Our last meal was for 4 people, included two bottles of wine and a few sides, and cost £420. I don’t mind paying this amount for a meal, but Chapter One isn’t there on quality or innovation of food to be a £100 per head restaurant. I’m sorry to say this, as the quality of service is fantastic and the team are impeccable but they need to do better at this price point.

The food is excellent and, without wishing to sound pretentious, it’s not just about eating food, but "experiencing" it and enjoying subtle flavours. The service is good too. It is pricey, but then, it’s a Michelin star restaurant and you’re getting what you pay for.

The food was nice. The wine however proved to be a problem...Why? Because my husband ordered 2 wines 1 white and 1 red. Neither of which were poured out in front of us. The second wine was meant to be a Fluerie and when my husband tasted it, he realised he had been served something else. My husband questioned the wine and the waiter assured him, that it was indeed a Fluerie. My husband disagreed so the waiter took the wine away and brought a new glass and suspiciously a new bottle of wine that he had just opened. He poured the wine in front of my husband, which should have been done in the first place. My husband commented that the first wine was not the same as the second wine. There was a weak apology. But unfortunately this did not appear to be sincere. Even the most basic restaurants pour wine out in front of a customer, and it was strange that Chapter One did not do this. So if you dine here and order wine, insist that the wine is poured out in front of you. It's a shame as we used to dine here monthly a couple of years ago, and we fell out of love with this restaurant and after 2 years of not dining here we thought we would give Chapters another chance. And this incident has just reinforced why we fell out of love with this place 2 years ago. It's a shame as Chapter One could be a great restaurants but they seem to fall short every time we visit.

Every time I go to this restaurant it seems to get better. Saturday lunchtime is a good time to go for an unhurried dining experience. The Venison Tartar starter is absolutely outstanding. So many flavours and beautifully presented. The main course Australian Ribeye steak is huge and was cooked to perfection. We had a wonderful experience yesterday in the private dining room at this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, service was outstanding. Chapter One has been getting better and better recently. I don't know what has changed in the kitchen, but today's starters and mains were really top notch and the Coravin options on the winelist allowed a silky Pauillac to accompany. This restaurant is becoming a very credible alternative to central London dining. Staff are great too.

70th birthday dinner for my Mother in Law. Exceptional service. Octopus Carpacio delightful. Australian Rib-eye griddled to perfection, the best steak I have eaten. Pinot Noir hit the spot just right. Highly recommended.

Review: Coffee X Coffee X is a delightful coffee shop we recently discovered, and it’s quickly become a favorite! The coffee is excellent, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the space is spotless—a perfect spot to relax and unwind. One standout detail is their adorable babyccino, which comes beautifully presented with cute marshmallows 🥰. It’s a small but thoughtful touch that makes the experience even more enjoyable. Stopped using the cafe as they let dogs in. Not only very unhygenic but the one in the queue behind me smelled awful. I think it was a sausage dog. Animals have no place in cafes. Garden is nice to sit in. Staff polite and welcoming. Food nice but pricey.

I stopped in for lunch and had the chicken escalope with fries and my partner had the spaghetti bolognaise. It was a delicious meal with a home cooked feel at a very reasonable price! The lady who served us was very friendly, chatty and absolutely hilarious. I will be going back!
