Chennai Dosa in Leicester

We had a Masla Dosa, Maida Vada & Masla Tea. It was delicious compared to other nearby dosa places. Quality was good and very tasty. All food arrived hot & service was great too. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

It was really a good place to hangout. Food was authentic. Service by Jalal was incredible. And please don't be upset for preparing last orders 🙃

The food was very good. We enjoyed the balance of the spices which did not over power the flavours of the food. Our hostess Neeru was helpful and was very polite.

Food was great. Not over powered by too many spices and chilli. A good bled to complement to food. Nerru was attentive and helpful with our questions from the menu.

Food is good but service staff is useless and there is one girl joined now she is not at all good to service even on asking of water she made her face and not pace to work very slow i dont know how she got hired and in unlimited menu they ask for all the dosa at a time if you eating 4 dosa order all 4 now dosa get cold after some time and its a dish to eat hot so i recomment to stop this nonsense.

Good dosas as compare other restaurants in the area. Saambar should be given in little bigger quantity as it’s not enough. Also needs to improve the service as it’s hit poor. And 1 star because they accept cash only which is very poor looking at scale of the business.

Me & my sister went in we waited for our order for nearly an hour, they came out with wrong iitem. It was not what was advertised. Very very disappointed in the service. I would not go there again. Walked out. We are both diabetics we were not even offered something to keep us going. They were arguing with us, we told them customers are always right. It's not like it used to be. My sister ordered Ghee Roast Chicken with paratha. It was more like chicken curry and was very runny. We were very angry and we walked out.

Yesterday, I visited the restaurant with a strong craving for a delicious dosa, and I was delighted to find exactly what I was looking for. Our waitress, Neeru, provided exceptional service throughout the meal. She frequently checked in to see if we needed anything, her attentive nature making the dining experience even more enjoyable. It truly felt like she was dedicated to ensuring we had everything we needed to savor our meal.

Food tasted proper nice I recommend you trying chicken chettinad with dosa with a mango lassi on the side the picture below is the chicken Idiyappam kottu it was nice and had good classic flavour to it. Chennai Dosa Leicester is fantastic! Their breakfast offer is unbeatable – delicious food with authentic South Indian flavors. A special shoutout to Mr. Jalaldeen for his excellent service. Worst experience - 2 times our food never been served. Apparently staff blamed the chef - They don’t have fridge for cold drinks, it’s always warm drink - only 2 staff working front house 6 days - Never order North Indian cuisine because they have no idea how to cook butter chicken or palak pannier - only thing they can make is Idli & dosa - cheap food but worst quality & service

Have ordered Mutton Friedrice from them and literally they have mixed mutton curry with rice and even the veggies were so raw. . They even charge too much for this . Not worth at all.

One from favourite restaurant on melton road. Lovely masala dosa. There is always fresh food and friendly staff. From few days changed design. Inside is warm and we are always happy to come there.

Was disappointed by my recent visit. The staff member(old person) at the till was abrupt when informing us about the policy against outside food. While I understand the rule, their tone was unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome, especially as we only had a small, nearly empty cup of soup. This interaction discouraged us from dining there and we ultimately chose to eat elsewhere. It seems particularly inflexible to not make allowances for young children who may need outside snacks. We used to visit this place at least twice a month, but after this experience, we will not be returning. The rude behavior and unwelcoming atmosphere make it an unpleasant place to dine.

This place is an absolute disgrace to Melton Road. I kid you not, I saw them lugging in industrial-sized drums of the cheapest vegetable oil imaginable - your arteries will clog just looking at the food they churn out. And don't even get me started on the old gentleman cashier who clearly hates his job and every customer that walks through the door. Rude, condescending, and utterly unprofessional. I've eaten my way across Melton Road, and this is hands down, the WORST excuse for a restaurant I've ever encountered. Do yourself a favor and steer clear.

I have been coming to this Chennai dosa outlet for two years and I always order the same thing (dosa) . Their service is average and sometimes food comes out cold. A new outlet at Coventry opened and I feel that it is way better in terms of food and quality and service .

I recently ordered a chicken bucket biryani from this restaurant, and unfortunately, it was a very unsatisfactory experience. The rice was extremely hard, indicating that the food had simply been reheated from the previous night rather than freshly prepared. When I reported this to the staff, their response was rude and unhelpful—they didn't offer any solution or even apologize for the poor quality. It's disappointing when a restaurant not only serves subpar food but also fails to take responsibility for it. I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience.

I recently ordered a bucket biryani for six people, along with additional takeout, expecting a satisfying meal. However, when I brought the biryani home, it was far from fresh—it lacked both the aroma and flavor you would expect from a quality dish. Disappointed, I decided to return to the restaurant to request a fresh batch, hoping the issue could be resolved. Unfortunately, things only got worse. The chef and staff were completely unhelpful and downright rude. When I explained the problem and asked for a replacement or a refund, their response was shockingly dismissive. They literally told me I could either take the food as is or "do whatever you want." No apology, no effort to make things right, just a rude and condescending attitude. It felt like they couldn’t care less about the customer experience. Frustrated and disgusted by their lack of professionalism, I decided to leave the food on the table and walk out. I’ve never experienced such poor customer service. It’s infuriating to be treated so poorly when you’re simply trying to resolve an issue with a product that wasn’t up to standard. I will NEVER be returning to this restaurant. The food wasn’t fresh, and the staff were completely uninterested in helping. If you’re looking for a place where you can expect basic customer service, look elsewhere. This experience was a huge disappointment, and I strongly advise others to avoid this place.

Nice food here, felt more like a take away place with a bit of seating than a proper restaurant with good service. Food was good with dosa and gobi Manchurian, if your after a proper restaurant meal would not recommend great for a quick bite

Worst biryani ever I have bought in this restaurant three times actually and from the start we went to them and told them face to face how bad the biryani is and to fix the mistake every time they say they will fix it but they never change.The biryani is almost like "bisibelebath". In my opinion I would not recommend anyone this restaurant

Slow service that make you wait for 15 to 20 minutes and they have reduced their food quality. The worst thing is that they accept only cash and they tell you that when you’re paying the bill.

One of the worst customer service, The waiter wanted us to buy what he want not what we want😄.They don't take card, if the food is extra and if you ask to pack it they get disturbed. After insisting they brought us packaging box and asked us to pack it.

It doesn't have real authentic flavor of South Indian food. The foods are blunt and waste of money. Home food is 1000 times better than here. Even the chutney was not tasty. I asked for carbonated coke but they gave me a chlorinated coke. Please don't spoil the name of our South Indian food.

Should be 4 star but 2 star because do not accept credit card, not good. If I am paying tax then other should too plus it's very inconvenient, who carries cash these days.

Excellent quality of food and generous portion of food is served. Beautiful interior and comfortable seating. There is a great variety of food to give yourself a treat to a hearty South Indian food. I would definitely recommend masala dosa and idli. Paneer Shashlik is a masterpiece of flavour and texture and an absolute treat for the tastebuds. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

We usually dine at another dosa spot in the area, but our kids insisted on trying Chinnai Dosa this time. The dosa here tasted amazing—crispy and packed with flavor. However, the filling was noticeably less compared to what we're used to at our regular place. The idli also seemed quite thin, almost like they were halves of a mini idli. The highlight of our meal was the masala fries, which I would definitely recommend. I'm considering a revisit to try their Chole Bhature; if it meets my expectations, that might be the only reason I'd bring the family back. For now, Chinnai Dosa isn’t on my list of regular eat-out spots.

Can't believe they only take cash luckily I went to try dosa after I finished my meal and went to pay for it they say only cash 🙃 lucky I got enough otherwise it was really bad experience for me they must have to accept degital payment or card payment.

It was our first visit to the restaurant, and we had an excellent dining experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the breakfast menu was both delicious and generously portioned.
