Had a tasty mocha in pleasant surroundings, people watching from the raised area. Not a fantastically large selection, but all quality beverages and snacks. My mocha was nicely presented and tasted great. What more could you ask for.

What matters most in a town centre café is to provide a little oasis of calm in comfortable surroundings. The MH Café does that. The seating over two levels in serviceable and has a couple of sofas. The adjacent toilets are clean and well maintained. An area to improve is the food and drink - my coffee was weak and egg custard bland. But the café's biggest plus for me was the bright friendliness of one of the serving staff - a smile makes all the difference!

Ideal for stop from shopping for tea or coffee and cake Not as warm and cozy though as would like but then get cold easily

Called in for tea and tea cake Access a little difficult for disabled but a nice spot to stop for a break Set right in the middle of the old town hall chesterfield the cafe seating is in a elevated position with a lovely view of the perfusion of small and interesting shops which surround it and being inside is well shielded from the weather Market stands are outside both entrances

We used to come to this cafe before it was taken over by Chesterfield Council and it had always been on the expensive side and, to honest, we visited as we could not agree where else to and we hadn’t tried the cafe since it was taken over. Kids had to go to the counter to see what was on offer, as there were no menus on the table and the range was limited. Neither of my children finished their food - either they were too full or the food just didn’t appeal to them. The latte was nice, but scone and butter were expensive and can think of other independent establishments in the town centre more deserving of your custom.

Called in for cake of the day and coffee. All for £2.95. Really good value for money. Cafe is clean, airy and a pleasant area to take a break from shopping. Quick service with a smile. Well worth a visit.

Find this very expensive for a Market Hall Cafe, and the food on offer slightly limited. Children's portion of sandwiches very small.

No menus on tables, so queues at the counter trying to read various boards mixed up with people trying to order. Some cakes on the counter uncovered which iis unhygienic! Server was less than helpful. Coffees were not hot and the "salad" with the jacket potato too small to be even considered as a garnish. Disappointing overall which is strange as the library cafe ( same owners!) is much better on welcome, service and food quality. I will stay with the Browser cafe at the library from now on.

I have been here a few times for a coffee and sometimes for a light lunch. It's really nice to find a place that does old fashioned filter coffee as so many places only do strong fancy coffees these days. They do those as well, my daughter loves the white chocolate mocha and my grandson always has an ice cream milkshake with marshmallows on top.

This is a brand new café inside the Market Hall - great decor, clean and spacious, easy access for wheelchairs, prams and pushchairs.

Visited this new cafe with my beloved. Being a quick visit, we ordered a sarnie and a cup of tea. The staff at the tills were all smiles and despite the debit card gizmo only apparently being delivered that day (so they were still learning) it was all done with smiles and charm. The food arrived quickly, it was super tasty. Man that was some thick cut cheddar! The tea was apparently a special blend from the Northern tea merchants and it was off the chain! If you like a good brew this is the place for you.

Since its renovations the market hall sadly has little to recommend It. Devoid of atmosphere with a disappointing council operated cafe which has been designed to make the stalls look like an after thought.

Very friendly pub and dog friendly. Great atmosphere and good range of drinks. Maybe sandwiches would be a good idea to go with a pint.

What a treat!! The restaurant is super cosy and elegant, a really nice venue for a treat or a special occasion. The food was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection, especially the steaks which were juicy and melt-in-the-mouth. The only comment I have is that some of the desserts feel a little over-priced for what they are. At Cocina, their meat is cooked in a Josper Grill, which imparts a smokey flavour, resulting in tender, juicy, and fragrant meat. They use the finest cuts of meat including home reared Belted Galloway rare breed cattle from their very own Walton Lodge Farm Estate. The other meals offered on the menu also use the finest, freshly sourced ingredients. OFFERS ⚠️ Monday – Friday £25pp for 4 Tapas dishes OR one Tapas dish and Main/Steak meal from a selected menu OR 2 for £25 on some selected main meals. Steak Sensation for Two for £75 – Available exclusively on Friday and Saturday evenings, which includes 16oz Walton Lodge Chef’s Choice Sharing Steak, choice of two sides and a bottle of house wine, red or white. We enjoyed; Tapas (price range £7 – £11/£17 for scallops); Smokey Padron Peppers, Crispy Calamari, Gambas Pil Pil 10oz Rib Eye (£28), medium rare, with triple-cooked chips, roquette leaves, grated aged Manchego cheese, and smoked paprika roasted vine tomato + wild mushroom sauce (+£4) 10oz Sirloin Steak (£32), medium rare, with the above sides + peppercorn sauce (+£4) Spiced Apple Tarte Tatin with Tonka bean ice cream (£9) Affogato with Shanky’s Whip whisky liqueur (£9) We also enjoyed a lovely Rioja that went well with the food We had such a lovely meal in this restaurant, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone that enjoys tapas and steaks as the food was exceptional, in a gorgeous setting. 💷 Spend: Approx. £30-£40pp for a main/tapas dishes and drink ⏰ Open Hours: Monday to Saturday 6pm – 9:30pm 🚗 Parking info: Free parking at the hotel for customers

To start with the food was very good. It was not what I ordered but was good. It is also a good price. Well it would have been if they charged me right. 4 sandwiches and a coffee £21. I asked for this to written down and the girl wrote £21 on the back of the ticket. I tried to explain I wanted a breakdown but got a piece of paper with a calculation on it that Einstein couldn't compute. I think I'm about £4 out of pocket. I would recommend the food but the staff need a lot of training
