Chilworth Arms in Test Valley

We went here for a Christmas evening as we all missed a work do so arranged a meal here with friends car park is quite large size we got seated on a table with a wobbly top starters came out quickly followed by mains which I had a chicken leek cheese pie which was probably nicest I've had the deserts I think were abit overpriced for what they were.The bill which came out automatically had a service charge on there but we decided to take this.Overall this is a nice pub but prices are abit high for the dish sizes we had if passing pop in as food is nice interior is clean and tidy staff are ok

The food is excellent and highly recommended, but the car park can sometimes be full, which is a challenge (there is a small overflow car park if you go down the side street of the building should the car park at the front on the main road be full).

Served by Noah who was very polite and service was very quick, we choose the festive 3 course option. Food was amazing, will be dining here again.

Tasty Christmas dinner, Lucy was an excellent host.

At The chilworth Arms they’ve certainly trained their front of house staff well as service was faultless! Roast dinners were very tasty too. I’m not sure why some reviews say the food is overpriced as we thought it was reasonably priced. We will definitely return.

The restaurant is clean and well layed out. The staff are phenomenal just lovely. The food is good we had roast dinners which I found to be very yummy. I do wish medium priced restarants sold more low priced wine as it is so easy to get a good one for £18 unless u'r a wine snob. My pudding however was very small for nearly £10 but it was a very good creme brulee. I know it is rich but it was extremely small compared to 4 Horseshoes. I will say that I used the disabled loo (as I can't do stairs easily) this needs a bloody good make over really poor. Overall I enjoyed the experience

It's a comfortable place to while away a few hours, the bar area especially but it can get very busy during lunchtimes and sometimes finding a seat is hard. The dining options, in either the restaurant (usually requiring booking) or bar area are perfect, with an excellent, uncluttered menu. The food is delicious and prepared to an exceptionally high standard and the service is warm, professional and friendly. During the summer, the garden area (including dining) is a welcoming option, in a pretty setting (Chilworth). I've never had any regrets in the 10 years I've been visiting. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.

Great lunchtime meal with excellent service, very good menu, only let down by the rock hard Brussels sprouts. Still it is Christmas.

Attended for a festive lunch with a group of nine friends for a Christmas gathering. There was a bewildering number of menus, one of which was festive but was so uninspiring that only one person chose it. When the main course arrived the vegetables were uncooked, the mushy peas dried out and the chips were cold. Overall impression, it tries hard, is over priced and not worth the effort. I shall not return.

Food was great. Service was super slow even though the restaurant was not busy at all as we came mid afternoon and we sat at a table right by a service till and servers were walking past regularly more interested in doing other things. Long wait between courses, had to ask for dessert menu then a long wait then had to grab someone to order dessert. Also had to ask for bill, then another long wait and had to grab someone so we could pay.

Chose to drop in opposed to pre book slot, was presented with friendly staff who was able to get me to a nice table, situated to the side. The food was amazing and fresh, and the waitress was informative and helpful when looking to order something to give me a guide on the size of an item. A***** 10/10 would highly recommend and would come back for a return visit. Good value for money, and for a Main, Desert and a drink, I did not feel £30 was too expensive when the quality and service was 10/10. Genuine review as I am from Spalding Lincolnshire, so I have no connection or ties with the area.

From ease of booking - pre orders- ( beautifully decorated log fire burning staff very friendly & accommodating even though they were extremely busy.. Large party of 14 , food choices consisting of starters mains desserts every plate was served together and presented extremely well… good portion sizes & the food was fantastic Being a Sunday most had roasts - steaks & good old English classic fish & chips ( starters soup scallops goats cheese tart prawns chicken squid Deserts lemon tart cheese biscuits brownie cookies ice cream apple tart So a good range of food cooked & served can highly recommend

i get its a posh place to order food from but for a meal that costs 17 quid i was expecting a proper portion, wouldnt feed a mouse and i had squid on top of my meal, still hungry waste of 30 quid wont be going there again

We must have been here 4 or 5 times when visiting Chilworth Manor. Always good food and pleasant staff.

Service and food was exellent. The only problem was the background music that was not background, to loud and far to much bass. Everbody in the bar area had to shout to be heard. Staff dress code nice tops but wearing jeans even in the restaurant. Not profesional. I was in the trade for 25 years.

We had over 29 members of family attend for a 18th birthday , we all had a wonderful time the food was outstanding. The staff went above and beyond a credit to all of the staff and the chef , Will highly recommend this to other friends and family keep up the good work and thank you very much once again kind regards, Rob.

Service from Diana was very good. Food was all round good. The cod risotto was very good. The dirty burger (like another reviewer has mentioned) was not good at all. Nothing special for a very high price of £20.95! As this has already been said before - ACT ON IT (it's not rocket science - appreciate and act on customer feedback). One further point lost for the £20+ service charge (which we asked to be removed). Let us decide any tips, not notice it added and then have to ask for it to be removed.

Visiting the area we popped for dinner and were not disappointed. Noah provided insightful recommendations when asked and excellent service along with the other staff who worked together to provide a very pleasant atmosphere.

Jordan is a gentleman. Food was great. Me and my fiancé guessed the bill to be 55+ but it was less than 45. Absolute bargain.

We had Duck noodle salad and Chicken leek pie with mash. They were both of the spacial selection. Food was good and service by Noah and Erin was exceptional and they were very friendly.

Great food , friendly staff , but the pub is looking tired round the edges and the loos are nothing short of grubby and in need of a refit.

We had a lovely time, everyone was pleased with their food. I just have one little complaint my sea bass should have come with green beans I hardly saw the green beans, just so many potatoes,

Excellent service, food okay but the Dirty Burger felt very overpriced. When it arrived at the table it looked kind of grey and uninteresting for a £20.95 burger! It tasted fairly bland, okay if you like a plain burger. For me the plate did not live up to the hype of the description..Very little shredded meat for example, just a smear over the bun. The Cowherds burger is MUCH better. Much tastier and more appealing on the plate. On the plus side burger looked home made. But cheese fat dripped out when you pick it up and bit in. Presented with a mini saucepan of beef dropping sauce which is like gravy, presumably for dipping your burger in, unexplained but quite tasty. Total bill was £100 gor two dirty burgers, one steak pie, three desserts.and three non alcoholic drinks. Low stars as was just ecoecting more from a twenty quid burger. Meals being delivered to other tables looked very appetising, especially the pork belly. Probably just not the right place to order a burger. I didnt try it but apparently the pie was good, nice and rich with good pastry. Chose not to complain as we had a guest. Probably won't go back! Also pretty chilly, definitely bring a jumper.
