Chocol8 in Bournemouth

Late October 2024, my Mum and I dropped in for the first time. We were lucky to get the last table in the quiet, beautifully decorated little café. The owner was really friendly, explaining the business and showing us around. We chose the luxury hot chocolate that came with 3 Belgian chocolates of your choice - for £4.95!! Having been to Hotel Chocolate in October and having a dark hot chocolate with them, which was good, I can honestly say this was far, far better. I highly recommend this little café and enjoy supporting local businesses. Many thanks!

Awful service. Passive aggressive and rude. Forgot half of the order. Three members of the staff -that I could see - all hiding in the back. Uncomfortable atmosphere. All they care about is the display. Go to 83 across the road instead, they have great cakes.

Absolutely adore this cafe, so cute and lovely staff! Never let's you down. Cheese scones and soup are always fantastic! As are the coffee and chocolates! Always bring my friends here when they visit. Beautiful gifts for Easter and special occasions too.

This coffee shop is a mixture of Alice in Wonderland meets Willy Wonka. My daughter really enjoyed her chocolate and choice of 3 of the chocolates and I had a delicious cream tea. I would definitely go back again, but also felt same as others, it was too quiet, just some background low level music would have made it more welcoming, a little too like having excellent afternoon tea and chocolate in a library. We also went on to buy some of the chocolates to take home and we will be back. Just some music please!

A little oasis in Westbourne, they serve very good coffee and chocolate. The overall experience is nice and relaxed. They will even provide a left handed cup if required. The scones are nice too.

Two very tasty hot chocolates, one Mocca & a black americano, with a nice slice of flapjack , cheese scone, plain scone & a slice of Victoria jam cake. All very palatable, made all the more enjoyable with friendly staff and atmosphere. 5 stars from me.

The worst weakest coffee we've had in a long time, tasted like cheap instant coffee. Not recommended if you like proper coffee

We had a good coffee (Oat Latte and Café Americano) with some vegan treads. It was very tasty and the garden outside was so lovely with a bit of sun and a bit of shade. We will come back.

Good place, kind staff and great selection of chocolates and Cakes

Cheese scone was lovely. Soup was ok but not a huge amount for the price. I wasn't offered the opportunity to have any condiments. Staff were polite , and friendly at the end, but didn't ask how the food was. It felt a bit uncomfortable having to walk through the kitchen to use the loo.

Delicious home made Apple cake, still warm from the oven this morning! Cheese scones looked lovely, didnt have one today but have in the past and were always great! And the most delicious chocolates to choose and buy for every occasion!

I visited today for lunch and had the homemade soup of the day; Leek and Potato. It was delicious and the bread roll was served hot out of the oven. Plus croutons! Really yummy, definitely recommend a visit.

If you want a cup of the best hot chocolate around this is the place to go. Its rich , thick, creamy ,a lovely flavour and always piping hot. There are also lovely homemade cakes and a large selection of delicious chocolates. It has a cosy atmosphere with friendly staff well worth a visit.

A disappointment. We went for a hot chocolate on my wife's birthday and we were met with a dull atmosphere and frosty service. The hot chocolate was lifeless and scalding, even after 15 minutes. We will not be visiting again.

One of the Best hot chocolates I have had - rich, thick and genuine in my opinion. Lovely decor inside and comfy period chairs, though the window and front might have put me off. Ladies were not "frosty" but not gushy either. I'm sure we will go again as a cheap treat instead of dinner out. 2 hotchocs and 1 scone with jam and butter £8.90.

I have to agree with a previous review that the reception here was decidedly frosty. The drinks were fine and the cake was delicious but we weren’t made to feel very welcome and the same reception was given to others that followed us into the cafe. A smile when we arrived would have been a better start.

A lovely afternoon spent with friends in their garden enjoying chocolates, cakes, iced coffee and ice cream. It's a lovely setting.

What can I say but a huge big thank you to Nicky and the other lovely lady (I’m sorry but I can’t remember your name) there was a group of us who enjoyed tea, coffee, cakes, ice cream as we sat outside in the garden terrace. The Rock Cake I had was the best Rock Cake I’ve had since my Grandma made them. I would highly recommend this place and you really must try their chocolates whilst your there too.

My wife and I went in for a coffee and a panini. The welcome we received can only be described as frosty. Although the food and drink was nice enough, we felt that our presence was somehow an inconvenience. We found this surprising given the numerous other venues in the vicinity.

I bought some chocolates for Christmas there. They were exceptionally good. I had coffee and cake there last time. Very good coffee, super cake, both larger than most places and very nicely presented. I was very happily surprised at the low bill. I'm looking forward to the Easter eggs

I take my Mum here every Friday afternoon as it is easy walking distance from where she lives and she is wheelchair bound. We usually have tea and cakes which are delicious. The service is great as well as friendly and welcoming

Simply the best coffee shop in Westbourne, the owner is so helpful and really looks after her customers. The coffee and cakes are even better and the sight of the chocolates on offer will tempt you. Always good to support independent traders, where you are a person not just a number as in the large chain coffee retailers. Drop in yourself and enjoy.

Detour to pop in for milkshakes and chocolate purchases. Pros Marvellous milkshakes Nice & tasty chocolate selection Cons First time I've felt this place has lost its lustre. Advised (in half term) that there wasn't a big choice of milkshakes as they were running low on ice creams due to time of year. I can't put a finger on why it didn't feel the same but I felt as though it was an inconvenience asking for shakes. And it looked a bit messy behind the counter so perhaps needs a tidy and repaint. Of course they may have had a stressy day, and with it being 2020, I guess they are a bit more scared than smiley. Would we visit again? Yes. The milkshakes are amazing. I probably have reviewed in the past and given 4 or 5 stars. Today I am giving just 3 purely because we didn't feel it as special as previous visits.

I ordered a hot chocolate and I was very disappointed that it was an instant cheap hot chocolate made with just hot water and it was lumpy. I wouldn't recommend this place. It's overpriced, poor quality and cheap.

It is very pleasant in here but be aware that the timings on the Web are not accurate. We arrived just after 4pm and it was shut. Disappointed children.

Una caja de bombones de Chocol 8, bellamente envuelta, es un regalo tan especial.Entró para un bocado ligero y fue tentado por los pasteles y bollos caseros que se ofrecen. Todos parecían tentadores, pero se sentían con ganas de algo salado, así que se decidieron por un bollo de queso. Fue el mejor bollo de queso, servido tibio y con mantequilla.El personal siempre es amable y el servicio fue excelente, especialmente porque estaba muy ocupado. No puedo esperar para volver a probar otra delicia casera.

Was rather underwhelmed and very disappointed. Had googled chocl8 and thought would be a treat for husband and myself. Walked in and decor looked tired and bit tacky. Coffee was nice, nothing out of the ordinary though. It was airless and we were just wondering whether to go somewhere else when another customer had gone to check out the garden as there was a sign up saying but he came back and owner told him it not open now as end of season! We also overheard another staff member saying the bubble tea someone asked for was off menu as no one ordered it and it wasn’t very nice! Why not delete it off the menu then? Chocs were nice with our coffee but visit wasn’t as special as we’d hoped. Wouldn’t recommend. Staff nice though and sorry it couldn’t be more positive review

Sin embargo, tuvieron mucho tiempo para hablar y reír en voz alta el uno al otro en la parte de atrás. La decoración fue decepcionante, los enormes paneles habían sido pintados de negro por dentro y se sentía como entrar en una sala funeraria. Sin embargo, le dio una segunda oportunidad, pero no fue mejor y el personal y el efecto boutique del restaurante se deterioraron aún más con un gran cartel brillante de helado vendido y precios. No se molesten en ir de nuevo, deberían recordar sin clientes que no tienen negocio

We spotted this place and decided to venture in and get out of the rain, a great experience and chance of luck. Has a great feel inside and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Great selection of drinks, cakes and chocolates plus sandwiches. The chocolates pictured were included in an offer they run with x3 chocolates and a hot drink. Food and drink was all good, items arrived quickly and pricing was reasonable...again staff very helpful and on hand. Chocol8 also has WC facilities.

Have reviewed before but had to update my last one.Nicky and Rachel and Nina are so helpful and accommodating. Nothing too much trouble. Comfortable seating and delicious coffee, cakes, scones, tea cakes and of course CHOCOLATES. I go regularly and have introduced others who all love going.

Walking along the high street deceived to pop in for a coffee, the choice of coffees is extensive, bright decor and comfy chairs. Very relaxing. They also do an amazing choice of chocolates. Had 3 with a cup of coffee. Presentation of coffee and chocolates served at the table as lovely. Service very good and reasonable priced.

1st time visit, boudoir decor, not a friendly... Smiley welcome, asked for strong tea was very weak ( could have done with a extra bag) friend ordered hot choc came out like a instant one not thick or with mashmellows / cream.

We really enjoyed hot chocolates with cream, along with cakes and more chocolates! All in a lovely quirky room, where they also sell chocolate inspired gifts. Service was fast and friendly too.

If you want luxury surroundings coupled with gorgeous chocolates, sumptuous cakes and sandwiches and also lovely tasty coffee, tea or hot chocolate then this is THE place to come in Westbourne. They also sell Diabetic chocolate and gifts of chocolate and other sweets. I go regularly and it is delightful to sit in there and in the background the music is from the 50's, 60's and 70's. All from my era which I love.
