City Social is one of the best restaurants in London. It’s perfect for business meetings but also has the most tremendous views to indulge in over a leisurely lunch or dinner. I’ve primarily used it for business meetings and it’s quiet with exceptional service and food.

Very good experience at City Social, for the first time in a Michelin gourmet restaurant 🥰 Very caring staff, always asking us if we like the meal, and if we need anything. The meal was good, the dessert delicious! We received a dessert offered by the house for our birthday, very nice touch 😉 Big plus for the view which is absolutely splendid, engraved in our memory.

The food is very good, paired with stunning views of London and dark, minimalist decor. However, our experience was soured upon arrival when the host rather forcefully tried to push us into buying an expensive bottle of Dom Pérignon. While we declined politely, this kind of behaviour feels like a gimmicky marketing ploy, which is disappointing for a high-end establishment. As a group of eight already planning to have three courses, we were clearly set to spend a considerable amount. Being pressured to purchase something unnecessary, like an overpriced bottle of champagne, was unwarranted and detracted from the otherwise enjoyable experience.

Overall: Not Michelin Star worthy & underwhelming We picked this place because it is Michelin-starred and has a vegetarian menu which is usually a +1 in my book. However, I left the restaurant scratching my head why it ever got starred in the first place. (This seems to be a running theme in the reviews). Food - overall the food was not that creative which is fine but so many Michelin starred competitors have much more creative flavors and ideas so expectations are high when you see the star. Unfortunately while the food wasn’t bad it was highly inconsistent. For example, the broccoli had like 3 pieces of nori and was under seasoned/lacked salt. (Also they didn’t give me a serrated knife so it felt like hacking giant stalks of broccoli and getting an arm workout). The scallop dish was good but it needed one more scallop to justify the cost. The pasta was good but like any high end pasta restaurant can do and it was uncreative. The lamb was cooked well but one of the potato chunks was undercooked and the others just cooked. The dessert was 5 scoops or ice cream was £13 which was not worth the price. The food isn’t bad but I’m confused how it got starred. Drinks were not very good either a short and not creative cocktail menu. Service - this was probably the worst part of the night. It felt understaffed and we had to wait 50 minutes to order ice cream and get our bill and during which I heard the table next to us have to ask to order dessert because they had been waiting awhile too. The food got to the table fast but the wait staff just felt like they were scattered and running around very disjointed so orders were slow and the drinks took forever. I don’t think it’s their fault if they were understaffed but it was really not Michelin worthy. Atmosphere: the restaurant and bathrooms were nice. The view is OK - I do question people saying it’s an amazing view. Seeing into other people’s offices doesn’t really fill me with excitement so it’s clear the city vibes are what they’re coasting on. The fact it is in the city should have been a red flag…it feels very much like somewhere you go with an expense account. Super disappointed I spent my money here, as it was such poor value for money and bad vibes.

A team dinner for 5. The catalogue of errors just kept happening. You' let one go - but at a Michelin restaurant, this is wholly unacceptable. This was far from value for money. I have written to complain and bring these issues to their attention. Here's what wasn't up to standard: 1. Kept waiting for longer than we would have liked to even get in the restaurant 2. It took far too long to put coats/bags in the cloakroom and was a very chaotic process. The same people who take your name, were the people also taking your coats – and given the queue, the time from arrival to be seated at our table was too long 3. Our waiter oddly delivered drinks to two of the five guests, before they had asked the other three guests what drinks they would like 4. Knives were on the left and forks were to the right side; the wrong way around – for the whole table 5. Incidentally, when fresh cutlery was placed after starters were removed, they were again placed incorrectly – and the cutlery required according to my order was placed in front of a different guest 6. I am a vegetarian and asked for a vegetarian menu. This was forgotten and I had to ask a second time. 7. Quite rudely, the waiter and waitress started removing plates before one guest had finished eating her starter – and unbelievably, literally reached right across her (whilst she was eating) to remove the plate from the next person. We wouldn’t expect this anywhere – let alone in a Michelin restaurant 8. We were seated in a circular booth – both guests immediately next to the opening had their feet trodden on by a waiter/waitress, repeatedly, despite complaining on each of the previous occasions 9. One person had a steak dinner and the presentation was poor – literally a piece of meat on a plate. The sides were randomly placed on the table – and incidentally, of 4 sides, two (broccoli and beans) were cold, the mash was warm at best 10. We ordered a second bottle of wine and it was literally placed on the table and the waiter walked off. There was no attempt to ask us if the wine was correct, to offer anyone to taste the wine, or to pour the wine. We then started to pour the wine ourselves – only then did someone come along and finish pouring for us, then critiquing one of our colleagues for having poured wine in their glass to a higher level than they considered appropriate 11. We ordered a pot of fresh mint tea for two. This arrived and was poured immediately but the water was clear – and hadn’t been allowed to infuse, so our tea was not flavoured. We asked for more mint since seeing there were just a handful of leaves – and this second pot took far too long to arrive. I asked for some brown sugar but was told there was none and instead given white sugar. We wouldn't give a second thought to many of these in isolation - but combined, they made for an experience that didn't match expectations for a Michelin restaurant, and in no way felt that the price we paid felt appropriate.

I am a bit confused on how the restaurant got a Michelin Star if I am honest. It took more than 5 minutes of us standing at the front desk to be welcomed. They looked short staffed, based on how busy the bar was. The table, chairs and light fittings were dirty. Wait time was 15 minutes plus for a drink. Really not worth the price we paid. It's a shame as the experience in the restaurant ruined what was potentially good food. It's more of a location for the areas finance client's, rather than people who want a nice dining experience. Would not recommend, we went for a special occasion and felt like it was a waste of time

I am reviewing based on the expectations for a Michelin restaurant. One, the food was bad. Not just executed poorly, but conceptually confuddling. I had the foie gras, which was served with french toast and pineapple. I found it devoid of salt and much flavour at all, and why it is paired with pineapple - the pineapple tastes so strong that putting a single piece in your forkful or French bread completely overwhelms the foie gras. Next the main. The Halibut. 4 people on our table ordered this and it seems we got 4 different dishes. Some complained of undersalting, some over, the amount of sauce/stew was different in each, my mother had sand in her squid. It was just a bit of a joke. You could expect better consistency at McDonald’s. Again, this restaurant has a Michelin star. Likely not for long, I assume there’s some back of house issues we are not privy to, but it’s so disappointing that this star no longer means even the basics will be executed well. Oh, and another note - to go alongside our mains, we ordered one of every side on the menu. They forgot. They ‘graciously’ ensured we would not be charged for them, though. I’ve had entire meals comped for less but I’ll leave that there. The waiters were great and friendly, but for this reason I bring service down to 1 star. For the desert, I had the Ice cream game. The waiter mentioned that it was often people’s highlight of the night. I’m not sure he knew how damning such a statement was. But it was very fun, it’s likely you’ll never win (guess all 5 flavours) - there are no tricks or gotchas, but simple flavours you’ve likely never tried in such a format. Actually - one of them felt a bit iffy. The flavouring was so subtle that my whole table thought it was plain cream, or perhaps condensed milk. Anyway, this for this price, the place is to be avoided at all costs. I cannot recommend it in good conscience when London has so much quality to offer. It’s not that they cannot make good food; I’m sure they could, but that this should be competing with five guys across the road, not with London finest.

Our group of 6 years old friends thought we’d try City Social this year to bring back memories of our time in and around the old NatWest Tower. Booked in August and confirmed booking by Text, Telephone and Email BUT we were apparently book in the bar area, not the Restaurant. The initial concern was rectified by George the General Manager who found us a circular table for 6 in the bar area but with access to the full lunch menu. Initial impressions were not great BUT because of George we ended up having a fabulous meal and a fabulous time. The food was truly exceptional, from the Sallop starters to the Tart Tartin dessert through the Beef and Lamb main courses absolutely everything was eaten and the flavours were amazing. Of the 6 of us most agreed it was amongst the best food we’d ever eaten. As a one off celebration Xmas lunch, we couldn’t fault it and I’m certain we will return. George, as an example of how to turn a problem with your own booking system into a customer happy event, your understanding and actions were exemplary, thank you

I came here for a work lunch (City Social Bar) and was extremely disappointed by both the food and the service. It took about 15 minutes for the servers to great us after being seated, and another 15 minutes for us to get water for the table. The appetizers were tasty enough (upscale bar food?) but uninspiring. I ordered a fried chicken burger after sharing that I don't eat pork, only to be served the pork burger. My colleague, who ordered a pork burger, said that it was not cooked through and sent it back. My colleagues that ordered the tagliatelle all said that it was bland and tasteless. While the staff were apologetic about all of the mishaps, I still wouldn't go back and would tell people to avoid it. I'm truly shocked that this restaurant has such high ratings and a Michelin star.

Arrived and they made space for 2 additional dinners as the person making the booking booked for 4 and not 6. Serving staff were polite and pleasant, although we did have to haggle for a concession when the waitress knocked a glass of red over. Had the brixham crab starter which was lovely very tasty and I could have eaten more but I am a glutton. Rib eye steak was lovely cooked to perfection (rare) and the triple cooked chips were lovely both bernaise and peppercorn sauces were lively. Wine, Petit Ours lovely not often I drink wine but this was was very nice with the food.

While the location and view are truly phenomenal, the service and food fall far short of expectations for a Michelin-starred restaurant. We ordered all the starters, and though we specifically asked if they were shareable, it turned out they were not. The starters were brought out all at once, even though it was clear the table wasn’t big enough to accommodate them. This resulted in an awkward experience of receiving five dishes at once, followed by the sixth. As for the starters themselves, they were just okay—nothing memorable or exciting. Then came the bread, which was frozen in the middle. It was obvious it had been reheated in a microwave or something similar, which was very disappointing. The main courses were no better. They were under-seasoned, and the sauce was so poorly made that it didn’t adhere to the meat at all. The vegetables on the plate were undercooked, and we ended up leaving half of the portion uneaten. The service was equally lackluster. We received no explanation of any of the dishes when they were brought to the table. The waiter simply placed them down and left without a word. When we tried to consult the waiter about wine pairings, they seemed disinterested and unwilling to assist. To their credit, the restaurant did not charge us for the main courses after we voiced our dissatisfaction. However, I still wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone I care about.

Absolute worst dining experience I’ve had. Overcharged and had to send the bill back 6 times. Rude server and poor quality food. I wasn’t asked how I wanted my steak cooked, and it came out lukewarm, rare and fatty. I could barely eat it. Martini was served as a half pour and the soufflé tasted heavily of cooked eggs. This is supposed to be a one Michelin star restaurant. It is not. Let’s start with what was good: - the hostess was lovely and efficient. We were greeted with a warm smile on entry. - the cocktail barman made us a wicked Singapore Sling. Ok what was wrong: - the toilets were dirty. No hand towels to dry out hands. The toilet paper holder just collapsed when taking the toilet paper off it. - the restaurant is lit to give a moody ambience but it just meant insufficient lighting. What light that existed was above and behind us at the window table causing a shadow to be cast over our food. - The room temperature was really hot. I was breaking into a sweat just sitting there waiting for the food. - I suspect this is the reason that the waiter smelled. Not his fault. - The sommelier I am not sure if he was qualified. His red wine recommendation tasted terrible and when he served the wine he poured it first before showing us the bottle to confirm. - The food was okay. We had a steak, scallops and my guest had fois gras. The scallop was overcooked around the edges. - They did not clear our plates in a timely fashion nor clean the table between courses - Overpriced. We just had a starter and main course seat, one glass of wine, two cocktails. Total £191. If you go to Petrus (see my other reviews) we will probably spend about £300 to £400 for a tasting menu including drinks and service et cetera. And it would be worth it. So overall a pretty terrible experience. I can only imagine a Michelin guide has not visited this restaurant since awarding that star. Avoid until they get their act together.

However, despite the high expectations we had going in, the food fell far short of the mark. Unfortunately it was a disappointing evening. I found the wine selection although very broad over priced in most cases and have had the same wines in other leading restaurants for much less. I ordered a steak, which was a mistake, I asked for medium rare and got a scorched steak which was cold in the middle, clearly straight from the fridge. I pointed this out .. and it was taken back and warmed up, so which I received and even more burnt but at least warm pieces of meat back, I would have expected a new plate and steak. By the time the burnt meat was returned the sauces and sides were also cold. The already split and greasy tasteless “béarnaise” was even worse cold and the runny pepper sauce inedible. This was a return visit after a previously delightful evening, but this will be my last visit. This could have been all addressed when paying the bill, and after waiting 15mins to pay, was not offered any sort of compensation for a shocking bad experience for such a restaurant

The desserts were included into the business lunch we opted for so she decided to rush them and presented them together with the bill. There was not even a hint of apology or understanding this is not what you expect from general upscale place like this. Restaurant was probably 30% full so should not be an issue with capacity

City Social, a one-Michelin-starred restaurant perched high above the city with breathtaking views, sadly fell short of the expectations its accolades promise. While the location and ambiance are undeniably stunning, the dining experience was a significant letdown. Service, a cornerstone of any Michelin-starred establishment, was particularly disappointing. The staff lacked warmth and attentiveness, with the overall atmosphere feeling more clinical than welcoming. This was particularly evident with the sommelier, who, surprisingly, seemed to have little knowledge or enthusiasm for the wine selection—a glaring misstep in a restaurant of this caliber. The food, unfortunately, did not redeem the experience. My steak, which should have been the highlight of the meal, arrived cold. When I mentioned this to the waiters, they took it away and reheated it, hence it was returned to me dry and overcooked. Although the dish was eventually removed from the bill, the damage was done. The quality of the meal was more akin to overpriced pub fare than the refined cuisine one would expect from a Michelin-starred venue. While the views at City Social are indeed spectacular, they are not enough to justify the lackluster service and subpar dining experience. Michelin stars are awarded for excellence, and unfortunately, City Social did not live up to that standard during my visit.

WARNING! If you're considering dining at City Social in London because of its Michelin star, I strongly advise you to reconsider. Our recent experience as a table of five was nothing short of disappointing, and it's hard to believe this restaurant has retained its Michelin rating. While the starters were passable, they didn’t offer anything particularly special—certainly not what you'd expect from a Michelin-starred establishment. Things took a turn for the worse with the main courses. The steak, in particular, was a letdown, tasting no better than something you'd pick up at a supermarket. For the price, it felt like an absolute rip-off, more akin to pub grub than fine dining. To make matters worse, the staff were unprofessional, messy, and lacked the warmth and attentiveness you'd expect from a restaurant of this supposed caliber. From the moment we arrived, we were met with a lack of enthusiasm that set a poor tone for the evening. The service was nowhere near the level of excellence one associates with a Michelin-starred restaurant. We left feeling like the reputation of this restaurant was far more impressive than the food and service itself. It’s doubtful City Social will retain its star for much longer if the quality doesn’t improve. The views, I admit, are excellent, but they’re not enough to justify the expense or the hype. Save your money and your taste buds—there are far better places in London to enjoy a meal

Fırstiy no smile when we came to tower 24 by the lady working there at 7.10 pm . Then the waiter gave the wrong burger, we ordered chicken not beef then they insisted on me paying for it several times and I never had beef in my life as it’s against my ethics . The waiter at the bar never gave sauce even after burger came we had to wait 15 mins and he always gave an angry face - absolutely disappointed the staff were so impolite despite asking for sauce several times . Receipt attached we want a full refund

The setting of the restaurant is really beautiful. The view of the city is incredible. The servers were attentive and didn’t make us wait too long to take our orders - however, when food was presented, there were a few times that sleeves were touching the food from the servers leaning over the table and not walking around to put plates down and when the fries were placed on the table, the server knocked one of the fries out of the container.

Come here for a lunch but we had an hour only, the staff were very accommodative. Food was on point - both of us ordered the fish dishes and are cooked just right. The desert was an highlight - the ‘ice cream game’ is legitimately a game (without giving out too much details), it added so much joy to our in-and-out lunch.

The experience as a whole was lovely. The staff are attentive and very nice and friendly. However, I was disappointed with the food. The steak was over cooked and dry and I didn't wish to complain in front of other guests. I have a sweet tooth but found the chocolate mousse disappointing. The mousse also has a fruit jelly in the middle which I didn't find too enjoyable. The food for me wasn't outstanding.

We booked a table to celebrate our anniversary. We chose from the excellent value set lunch and splurged on grown up cocktails and wine, including a delicious glass of Sauternes with dessert. Faultless service and perfectly executed food. I paid extra for the ravioli which was truly fantastic. Great views over London. As it was Monday lunchtime, there were only a few tables. All the same, the food was spot on and though the waiting staff were attentive, they let us get on with enjoying the food. We did ask for regular butter to put on the superb bread... The bread came with a perfect onion shaped blob of smoked onion butter which, for me, smothered the taste of the fabulous fresh bread. A minor niggle, immediately rectified. We had disclosed that it was our anniversary and a superb chocolate based dessert with gold leaf adornment was presented to us to share. A nice touch. Thank you After lunch, the staff showed us around the various views and I was able to thank one of the chefs as we looked into the spotless kitchen . An unhurried, excellent meal.

Civilised food in the City!! Superb views. Staff who are attentive without being constantly in your face. Superb cocktails and expansive wine list. Great value set lunch menu. Only negative was the smoked onion butter, which was style over substance... A fantastic onion shaped blob of butter which utterly smothered the taste of the excellent bread. .. But soon rectified by the waiter who brought us a decent butter to smother on our bread. The sauces with our food were so good, our plates were unashamedly whipped with the bread!! Petit fours with excellent coffee. Unhurried, lunchtime perfection.

I entertained 2 clients last week & left disappointed & concerned. I didn’t complain in front of my guests but when I’m paying £260 + 15% service, so £1 short of £300, for 2 bottles of wine I cannot accept that it is spilt on the table during the service process. We were rushed to place our order & even had to choose our dessert at the same time as the other 2 courses which I have not experienced in a Michelin star restaurant before. The lobster ravioli starter was good but then it should be for £12 extra. Once our bread basket was empty were we offered more….NO. The steaks were good but so they should be for £20 extra but salad served with a dish that has 2 sauces with it…..really ?? Surely some home grown new season vegetables would have been more appropriate or at least be offered ? Were we asked if we wanted anything to go with our steaks like mustard….NO…..my client requested some malt vinegar for his 8 fries but it wasn’t offered. Finally £6 extra for a selection of 3 cheeses from the trolley….what trolley ?…..I got a plate of what I was given not a choice of 3 choices of cheese that I would like to eat. The food was good but was not as good as I have experienced in other restaurants so for me it didn’t represent value for money or live up to my expectations in any department, the restaurant was pretty much empty so I’m guessing that the reputation of the restaurant is not what it was or should be. I emailed the restaurant with my comments & got a very dismissive could not care less reply. Perhaps their opinion of themselves is a lot higher than that of their clientele. Overall a 4 out of 10 experience.

For a business dinner I informed the host which in turn informed the restaurant that I'm dairy free. The food offered was vegan, and the waiters refused to replace with anything of substance stating this was pre ordered. These options which included a beetroot appetiser and English pea acquerello rice, petit pois à la française as a main were mediocre at best. Aside from that, the wine was excellent and glasses filled often, and the atmosphere is fabulous.

My favourite restaurant in London this evening we sat in the bar and had a meal as we were heading to the O2 for a concert. We had fabulous views and ordered a lager and Jameson's whisky ginger and lime (very nice) we ordered a burger and fries and fish and chips (GF). Both were delicious and reasonably priced at £17 & £18 respectively. Id anything my chunky chips although delicious were slightly over seasoned with salt. Service is excellent and ambience lovely. Definitely recommend and with service included the bill was £66. Very reasonable for the top quality food and experience. Thank you.

What a sad experience! Came from Toronto for a week visiting 4 different Michelin-starred restaurants. City Social had a cool entrance and private elevator that opened into a dark and bustling restaurant vibe at 8pm. Great so far as was the table by the window for the three of us. Our wines by the glass were pricey but excellent with coravin pour. I often get “generous” pours but the Reisling and Bordeaux were quite the opposite and were both poured without an offer of a taste. I got over this and our foie gras was delicious as were the snails (although the latter were slightly undercooked). The lamb was underwhelming in terms of presentation and quantity but tasted alright. Our 2 fillets were cooked to perfection and were great tasting cuts. Seasoning was minimal though and why they served the tiny fillet alone on a large plate with the chips and salad on 2 more dishes, I don’t understand. I was looking forward to the Bernaise sauce with my steak but it did not pour and was really a paste that i scooped out of the tin serving urn. It didn’t taste very fresh either. The tarte tatin was amazing, a massive portion even for 3 of us and the highlight of the meal Though the food was sub par for a Michelin restaurant, the service was the worse I have ever had in a fine dining establishment! Starting with little things like giving us a carafe of water and never refilling or pouring and not cleaning crumbs between courses from the table, it only went downhill. None of the 3-4 inattentive waitstaff mulling about ever asked how our dishes were and only did so when presenting the check. Then at 9:30 they turned up the lights very brightly above our table and all tables at the windows. I asked them to lower them back and they did. Piece de resistance though was that while eating our Tarte Tatin at 9:30, a waiter came by and told us to please scoop the shareable dessert into our side plates because that dish was needed! I was so shocked and gave a visible frown, that the waiter observed, but carried on waiting for us to move the dessert onto our individual plates. There were still 4 other tables eating, 3 larger groups and us. One table had been there longer than us. Disgraceful and disappointing that a restaurant would give us the bum’s rush like this. Do not eat here if you have any standards! and City Social…buy more plates!!

PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES DO NOT GO HERE. This place poisoned my boyfriend on his 25th birthday. I booked this place as he’s always wanted to go here, on booking the place I notified them of his peanut allergy twice, and on entering the restaurant I reminded them AGAIN, and when we sat down and then again when he ordered. The waiter advised which food to order and we set about the meal. A minute into eating his mouth started to tingle, a few minutes later he had to leave to throw up. We had to immediately leave in order to make sure he’s safe and to take him to the hospital if needed. They denied any wrongdoing and any peanuts and offered no refund. They ruined my partners birthday and literally POISONED HIM. We had to cancel our reservations for drinks and activities after. Regardless of this the food just tasted really salty, and there were only two other couples in the restaurant. The ambience was off because it was so empty, I do NOT recommend.
