Classic Canton in Amber Valley

Always gone here because it’s always tasted the best but last nights meal was awful… don’t know what’s changed but they need to change it back wasted £30 went straight in the bin.

Sep 2024 Iv been using this Chinese for years and always ordered the same. On delivery the driver said they have new owners. Not as good as normal.... Chicken super dry, onion in massive chunks, not enough veg in it like normal :( I didn't enjoy my meal at all and felt like I'd wasted my money! Don't think I'll go back

I don’t usually leave reviews but i am actually mortified by a certain recipe change to my favourite dish. This may seem dramatic but my life will never be the same without my beloved honey chilli chicken. I used to order this dish regularly, it was the best thing put on this earth and no other takeaway does it the same. After a terrible week i decided to treat myself to my favourite comfort food only to be given whatever monstrosity the honey chilli chicken now is. It actually made me cry, and i’m still in mourning even today. I was hoping it was a one off, but after ordering again and it coming the same i realised i had lost what meant the most to me. I have been informed there are new owners, so there is no hope of ever having my favourite dish ever again. I will grieve the old recipe for the rest of my life. #BringBackTheOldHoneyChilliChicken

Just moved to Ripley. Thought my last Chinese would take some beating, Classic Canton beats it by a mile

Really disappointing meal. Been coming here for years and recommended to friends, but tonight's meal was seriously poor. Overcooked rice, very little egg in it, poor quality vegetables and little choice, batter on chicken balls soft not crispy. Have you changed hands/cook?

Wrong food delivered and I phoned them up and they delivered my partners correct meal, this was worse than the original meal, loads of raw garlic cloves and salt. Driver said new owners.terrrible food from a previously top takeaway

Food arrived hot, on time and was delicious. Great value too. Meal for 2 including delivery under £35 and so much choice!! Absolutely amazing!!

Excellent food, superb service too and enough for 4 people at £31

We only recently had food from here when our normal Chinese was closed. It was so nice we have now ordered twice more, however today the duck was so disappointing, fatty/stringy/overcooked. Maybe we go back to our original takeaway. Also no free prawn crackers, true we didn't spend nearly £20 this time as we didn't have that much, but I think £14 is enough to get a few prawn crackers especially since delivery is now £2 all in. Disappointed.

Bloody awful placed order at 5.30pm it’s now 7.12pm and still no food!!!!

Was good, 6/5 stars if possible. The lady at the counter was very nice and beautiful. Would recommend!!

Delicious, wish it was slightly cheaper but it's great food

I'm not from the area but will definitely be ordering from here again, the next time I'm here. The food had lovely flavours and the vegetables were very fresh. Mushrooms from other restaurants are often a bit rough but these were very fresh. I ordered mini vegetable spring rolls, boiled rice, salt and chilli chips, and vegetables in satay sauce. Everything was cooked perfectly and was very tasty.

Food was very tasty. Really enjoyed it. Very spicy too.

Ordered online for collection (but thought I was ordering ordering from the Somercoates takeaway of the same name, however they aren't on the web). However, on ringing them - they agreed to keep the meal as warm as possible whilst I walked home from the other takeaway and got the car. We ordered curry&chips, Szechuan Mixed Vegetables and Singapore Mixed Vegetables. The Szechuan Mixed Vegetables had a nice zing to it, the chips and curry were great. The meals were still plenty hot enough and very tasty. Will definitely use again and recommend.

The food tasted like it was cooked days ago the salt and pepper chicken was dry and chewy it wasn’t edible. Will not be going back

Ordered and paid for a meal at 5 15pm. At 6.45 I still hadn't had any update. Couldn't get through on the phone so I went up there. They had forgotten my order. Wasn't a patch on the Somercotes shop.

Great food reliable delivery. Best in and around ripley

So not sure why this has a 3.8 star rating. I can tell you now that I've used this place for last 6 months due to the food being better than any Chinese in the area better than any in eastwood, langley mill, Heanor, and ripley. If your looking for a honest review just click on my profile you will see I give a plain and simple review if it's good it's good, if it falls down I will not hold back. This is worth a go try it and make sure to do what I'm doing, this place deserves stright 5 stars let's help them reach that! Delivery driver is a good man too always happy and friendly. Regards Your friend who orders from dhl / codnor! (update) so it's just petty really but the last 2 times I've ordered from here there was dishes missing, I've been here for a long time now and not sure what's going on just hope they are not slipping. Will update again soon!

Telephoned a collection order through as was travelling back to Ripley, paid OVER THE ODDS for it, got it home and had received the wrong items as I'm a vegetarian and received 'special' dish instead of the mushroom dish I ordered, called up to complain, but was called a liar, will not be ordering again, you wouldn't give a Muslim pork so why give a vegetarian meat?, Couldn't give zero stars

Placed an order including mushroom foo yung, what we received was a special which wouldn't have been a problem if we weren't vegetarian, this was full of meat and prawns, rang to complain only to have the woman argue that we had ordered the wrong one, they refused to do anything about it and put the phone down on us, plenty of better priced takeaways in ripley so won't use them again.

I collected my food as the wait for delivery was over an hour. The service in the shop was very good and the shop appeared very clean. The food itself was very nice, tasty and plenty of it! I would definitely recommend:)

Found a hair in my food followed by a week of upset stomach. Not impressed.

We are ridiculously disappointed with our order. We spent £40 and tipped the driver £8. Opened our food and found that the "salt and pepper" chips.. are simply seasoned with salt and black pepper and a strip of limp carrot. But the salt and pepper chips were £4.50+. Spicy Salt and pepper crispy chicken wings.. were just.. seasoned fried chicken.. no flavour at all, i should of just cooked a mcanns bag of chips and fried some chicken because it would of tasted far superior. The vermicelli noodles we requested to be vegetarian, we received special fried with every kind of meat inside it. We asked for plain pancake so we can wrap noodles inside and she gave us a giant meaty pancake roll. That wasn't all that was wrong with our order. Every thing was either inedible or not what we ordered. And for saying this is the most expensive Chinese we have ordered from so far, it is completely unacceptable. Upon calling our complaints through, the woman argued with us and defended the order being correct.

Really fast delivery, food amazing as always

would give 0 stars but thats not an option... ordered food from this chinese on the website and then tried to cancel my order which there was no option online and i called them and they said they couldn’t cancel so i called the customer service and by the time i even had a chance of getting my money back they refused the refund because they had already cooked it even tho i physically called and said i wanted to cancel... overall customer service is sh*t and wouldn’t recommend ordering from here as all staff are ignorant. now we have no money for food and we are starving !

So disappointing that service is so poor. The food is great but waited nearly 2 1/2 hours for my food with no communication from them whatsoever and when I contacted them they did not care!

Stayed at Ripley premier inn, found this Chinese take away just round the corner. Normally, when I have a Chinese takeaway, away from my home town, my wife and I are always disappointed with taste and portion size. However, we were presently surprised with classic Canton. We ordered special chow mein and large fried rice. Wow, just wow, the best chow mein I've tasted and the portion size was impressive. As we were staying in the premier inn, we asked for an extra empty carton and two forks, which they supplied with no quibble. Great place, if I'm ever in the region, I'll most certainly be back. Unless you do a delivery service to tyne and wear.

Lovely food always good service dont go anywhere else

Having spent christmas in hospital with my husband we brought him home to share a meal with our children boxing day evening. Ordered huge takeaway rang to make sure they would deliver. 2 hours later they rang to say it would be longer. 10 minutes later cancelled the order. It was now 10pm and no where was open. Their reason was it was busy and getting "ridiculous ". We ordered at 7.30pm . Not happy.

Fast service and excellent food.

My partner wanted a roast duck chow mein wet meal and as it was a last minute order regarding that it’s £4.40 for it and it all came up to £6.10 a £2 delivery charge!!! Absolute rip off worst Chinese takeaway I’ve ordered from. My partner couldnt even taste the duck and he could taste the skin of the duck when eating it...... and it was over cooked!!!!

Food is good, fresh, not to heavy on msg....I'm a vegan and you have to ensure you tell them when you place your order, they sometimes don't listen to the order and I have got mine home to find meat three times now! They always correct and deliver a new meal

The portions are big taste is plentiful.. can be a little over greasy on the deep fried .....service is good... delivery is the fastest at weekends prices are on the ball to improve maybe more special offers..
