Cocked Hat in Gosport

Came here for a meal with the family just after Christmas. One of our party was a wheelchair user, and although there is a wide ramp leading up to the entrance, the doors to get into the restaurant and the layout did not cater well for it. Luckily, there was a helpful chap having a Christmas meal with his family who was able to help, otherwise I doubt we would've been able to get in. For some reason we weren't able to order through the Greene King app on the day, which was a bit annoying, so we had to go up to the bar and order. Most of our party had fish and chips whilst a couple of us had the chicken and ribs combo (myself included). I was really disappointed with the food I had here. The ribs were okay, but the chicken was horrible, cold, dry, and had a bit of a chlorine taste to it. Chips were a bit cold, and the corn on the cob was freezing. The fish and chips looked quite good, and those who ordered it seemed to enjoy it, so that may be a safer choice if you are brought along here with your family against your will! They had sports on and the beer was good, so it might be a good option for that, however in the local area there are better options for sport and beer, such as The Village Home Pub.

Awful awful awful. From the disgruntled greeting of 'sticking us on the balcony' to burnt garlic bread starter after 30mins wait (what kind of chef burns garlic bread) to waiting another 45 minutes after returning the burnt starter to receive a cold kids meal, two burnt bitter tasting steaks, and two staff members clearly ignoring us and serving two other waves of customers after us first, without even an apology for the delay or a sorry for the disgusting meals they served up as food (all the food for other tables flew out). My 8year old now has a tummy cramp from the beef burger that you had to re heat, garnished with a tiny bit of manky old lettuce from the bin or another plate. I wanted to leave and get a Chinese, wish I had gone with my gut instinct but when you have starving hungry kids and wife you try and bear with it so they can eat. Been in here two or three times to eat this year always decent, different staff tonight and different 'chef' presumably, certainly a different outcome. Only decent honourable thing was the barmaid refunded the whole meal and was apologising, but would much rather have eaten properly for the money without the risk of food poisoning my family. Disgraceful, and absolutely no need for it or the arsey attitude of a waitress, and a waiter who belongs on a building site, staring at you and gobbing off all around, but can't do he's job of a check back on a table. Fuming aint the word if my nipper is rough all night and tomorrow, ill be coming straight back down for words.

Awful food, disgusting facilities, dirty and cluttered tables, forgot meals from our order as "chef has thrown away the batter", table not ready when booked, toilets disgusting, staff rude and inattentive

Nice pub diner ...food is good and the place is friendly.... good selection of beers

We had our Christmas meal at gosport it was the best Christmas meal we have had everyone was happy we came on the 15th of December we will be back soon.

Friendly staff. The atmosphere was very much Christmasy. Big enough inside and pleasant outside in summer. It's easily accessible by drive if you're not local.

Lovely space to meet up and spend quality time with family! I'd love it if the had some large round tou le for bigger groups as I always feel like I've only spoken to half the table.....

Food and service was fantastic, as a walk in they found us a table even though lot were reserved, staff polite and levels about right, oderers of food delivered in 12 mins inc steak

Had our Wedding Anniversary meal there, and received excellent service and a bit of humorous marriage guidance after i got my wife's order wrong. Needless to say the staff rescued me.

Just had lunch here. Didn't have an alcoholic drink but coffee which was great. Food was ok and what you would expect from this type of establishment e.g. scampi lasagne, burgers etc. There are steaks on the menu as well. Would eat here again I think.

Not a fan of the latest menu, not many options for my son as he isn't a huge burger fan or beef eater he would always have a chicken tikka masala which is no longer on the menu so he had to just have 2 starters and chips , there is and has always been a very long waiting time for the food to be served and then it's hit and miss if you get the whole order and then have to chase it up, BUT the food is nice when u do finally receive it.

Not ideal for a romantic meal but fine for a family celebration it was a bit noisy for us because of the sports bar section. The food was very good with the steak cooked just as we wanted it

Consistently great food, friendly pleasant service, and newly refurbished so is clean and modern. Been there a few times since the refurbishment and so it's busy but if the food might take longer than usual they'll let you know when you order which is fine as the food will be hot, tasty and incredible value for money.

So much has changed.New menu, beautiful decor and surroundings. The staff were excellent at their job, extremely courteous and friendly. Only complaint that we had, was with our daughter kids food! No care or thought had gone into it. Well priced and well worth it though.

Had a bacon burger. Sadly overcooked. Very dry and hard. Shouldn't be hard to cook a patty surely!

Other than great food and staff toilets are very clean to a high standard and hand dryers are brilliant, good time all round

Havant been to this place for many years as I had such a bad experience in the passed last week myself and a few work colleagues decided to pop in and have a meal for lunch. What a different experience food was great and good value for money we was served by a lady called Claire who went above and beyond will definitely be visiting again soon Well done

Despite working nearby for over 12 years, this is my first visit, so I am puzzling now why this is 😁 after my experience today. I had a very pleasant meal of the slow roasted rib, and can already recommend this. The meat was delightful and the light touch of the BBQ sauce complimented it beautifully. As I ordered from the gluten free menu one observation was all the chip sides have been replaced by jacket potatoes, a little unusual perhaps given how easy it is for chips to be manufactured and uncontaminated by wheat products. Service was quick and very friendly. I shall be returning with the family to try more of the menu. Thank you Cocked Hat for a wonderful lunchtime. 👏🏻

Has been refurbished since we last visited and it's very clean, bright and spacious. Staff were attentive. App worked really well. Nice mix of people. Not rushed to leave. Food tasty and fresh. Plenty of parking.

Clean place food was ok pub grub. What let the place down though was the attentiveness of the staff. They were happy to chat amongst themselves but failed to even acknowledge people that were waiting. I understand other people were being served but it wasn't busy and a simple greeting goes a long way.

My grandma has lived in the area for 24 years and has never stepped foot in this pub (no fault of the pub itself, it was just a lil far from where she lived) as we were packing up her house to move, we decided to have a meal out and we googled pubs in the area and this one came up. We looked at the menu and thought it looked fab so decided to give it a go... And we so lucky we did! As it was the best meal we've had in a LONG time! So much so, we have been back 4 times this week and have tried almost everything on the menu and let me tell you... EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS and absolutely fantastic prices for the amount food and quality you get! Clare (mama bear) has been so friendly and such a good laugh and Martin has been very kind and the banter has been great with the both of them ❤️ It's such a shame that she's moving in the next few days or this would become our regular spot! Thank you again staff at The Cocked Hat, hopefully we will make the journey back for you're absolutely delectable dishes and sensational service ❤️ From the twins and their grandma 😊

Staff were great, the food was on the OK side of good. Let me qualify that, it's chain pub food, expect to get what you order. There is ample. I couldn't fault it, but it is what is is.

Fantastic value for money. The chefs here know how to cook steak unlike alot of other places in the area. There's a gluten free menu and also vegan options. They even sell gluten free beer! I am gluten and dairy intolerant so finding places to eat can be a challenge. I would love to see a gluten free and vegan burger option 😋

Came in for some food and drink over lunch while we had a quick min, abbi served us and she was amazing, was quick to rectify any issues we had. Was by far the most approachable person in the venue. Will always come back to see her face. A real gem for your team

Went for lunch this afternoon here - it was absolutely delicious! I had Gammon, Egg and Chips on a skillet and it was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this place!

Staff are always welcoming, Saavick is always really helpful and full of banter. The managers do a great job keeping things in hand no matter what it takes, keep up the great work!

First visit since revamp - a few minor issues, but to be fair to the manager she sorted it out immediately and made up for the issues. Clearly she actually cares about the place, great to see.

We will definitely be back! Ahead of choosing somewhere to book for a large family occasion we made a visit today.. A warm friendly feel good place, extra helpful genuinely happy to help staff that are always around. Our food was EXCELLENT!...Our meals arrived swiftly and together, looked so good and tasted even better. Plenty of choice on the menu all of which are of fair price and avaliable. Usually I cant be bothered to leave any feedback good or bad, but on this occasion I made time to eave this here to highly recommend this pub/restaurant and commend the manger and workers. 10/10

The cocked hat has been my local for years and seen lots of different staff come and go! The current team and management are brilliant and always friendly, helpful and good laugh! Saavik is a great member on the team and also so helpful and welcoming! The newly refurbed outside area is a great sun trap!

Came to visit elderly father for his 93rd birthday, we are from lincolnshire, he recommended the cooked hat and he was right, good food and service, prices reasonable, definitely come again.

Every time i come here, my experience is perfect. The staff are lovely, the atmosphere is very friendly & the food is amazing quality. I would 100% recommend this restaurant. It is perfect for family gatherings & to watch all kind of sport with friends.

Food is fantastic and such great value. The staff are super, always so accommodating, let you know before you sit down how long the wait is for food and they are just so lovely. 241 burgers on Thursday are an absolute bargain and they are delicious. The meat platter is also a recommendation.

It’s a really friendly environment, staff are lovely and welcoming here, Clare and Martin always greet you with a smile. They have great food service and the food is lovely. It’s amazing to come here to watch any sports, plenty of TVs all around. It is Wheelchair Friendly. I would 100% recommend this restaurant.

Food took ages to come after we ordered it, when it eventually arrived food was not very hot chips were out of a packet & refried in total £65 and was not worth £30.

I came in with some family for some food, never been here before as we was just passing by. We ordered some food which I asked if it some ingredients which 1 of my family couldn't eat. The young man I think was called Martin was very helpful. Food came pretty fast very enjoyable. Good choice of drinks as well. We will be coming back soon

Was a bit put out by a female member of your bar staff...a please or thank you would've been nice after waiting so long..sat outside all afternoon watching your sauce station congeal in the boiling heat..glad I don't like mayo.....foods OK.. typical pub grub ....

Went to the cocked hat tonight food came out hot and well presented and in a really good time . The staff out front were overwhelmed which was disappointing as it made the experience a little un inviting.staff just wandering round and not giving the customers the attention to make our visit better . We really like going to this pub and hope that you can rectify these problems.
